Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat Innocent, Private Detectives & Kate McCann’s Hot Lips
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “WE’LL FIND HER OURSELVES. Maddy parents bring in SAS private detectives”.
Kate and Gerry McCann have hired Control Risk Group, billed as a “crack security firm”, to find their daughter.
Page 5: “THE PROFESSIONALS” – There’s TV show in this. The Portuguese police could be the Keystone Cops, at least that’s what the tabloid press portrays them as.
“Millionaire ex-double glazing boss” is the mystery benefactor paying McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell’s wages. The former window cleaner owns Sale Sharks ruby union club. Look out for their new sponsor.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘McCanns ARE LYING’ - Portuguese police says friends are in cover-up.”
Robert Murat is to be told he will not face charges. Kate and Gerry McCann will be the only named suspects.
“SMILING” – The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPERS leads with a picture of Kate McCann grinning.
Pages 4 and 5: “Kidnap? We just don’t; believe it.” It is reported in Portugal that an unnamed Irishman has come forward to say he was in the same place as the McCanns’ friend Jane Tanner. She told police she had seen a man carrying child dashing from the Ocean Club resort in the direction of Robert Murat’s home. The new witness says he saw no-one.
“’GUILT’ OF PARENTS - More than 60 per cent think the couple know what has happened to Madeleine.”
“WHEN KATE WAS HOT LIPS HEALEY” – 15 YEARS AGO Kate was nicknamed hot lips for her resemblance to Loretta Swit in TV comedy M*A*S*H. The Express has seen her Dundee University year book and the comments - “Kate was great fun”; “renowned for alcoholic binges and some ‘dance till you drop’ nocturnal activities”; “she was certainly more interested in going to the pub than she was in her studies” etc.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: PARENTS ARE LYING. Cops say McCanns & friends tried to frame suspect Murat.”
Pages 4 and 5: “McCANNS ‘ARE LYING’.”
A phone poll: “DO YOU BELIEVE THE McCANNS ARE LYING?” Let’s see if we can top that 60 per cent in the Star’s sister paper the Daily Express. Vote now and vote often.
THE SUN pages 12 and 13: “TWIN’S LIFT FOR MUM AND DAD.”
Kate and Gerry McCann are with son Sean. They have been to Mass. Kate sobs when Ave Maria is sung. Daughter Amelie is in nursery school. She is plying with the Cuddle Cat. She bursts into laughter, “her giggles rang around the building”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Madeleine:
• Ex-SAS team joins hunt
• New sighting in Morocco
• Kate breaks down in church
• Police accused over forensics”
Page 8: “McCanns hire an ex-SAS team to hunt for Maddie.”
“Second witness supports sighting in Morocco” – Remember when Marl Pollard said she saw Madeleine in Morocco? Now we lean that a man also saw Madeleine in Morocco.
THE INDEPENDENT PAGE 17: “Murat no longer suspect.”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 10: “McCanns hired detective firm with ex-SAS men”. Under Portuguese law, the McCanns are not permitted to carry out their own investigation in Portugal. But they can investigate in other countries.
THE TIMES front page: “McCann investigators” – McCanns hire private security firm.
Pages 12 and 13: “How they managed to turn campaign around.” The McCanns are “winning the propaganda war”. They have gone on the “offensive”.
A family source says: “It is for the police to prove they are guilty.”
GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

seymore, in swinging circles, when you mentioned ‘monday is not a members night’, do you mean it’s ladies only night

I noticed that too.
I think she is 4 months pregnant.
O’Brien was real quick to get her a new one.

Thanks for the link. However, it seems to be nothing but a series of speculative questions. None of it seems to be purporting to be reported fact. For example, the bit about the knee:
“Could Madeleine have bled on something which was later put in the hire car?
Madeleine did slip and gash her leg as she boarded the holiday aircraft. Or maybe she hurt herself playing in the flat and bled on a shoe or clothing later put in the car. ”
See “could Madeleine…” In other words this blood on shoe business is nothing more than air - nowhere does it actually claim there is a real shoe with blood on it and this is how it might have got there. The whole thing just seems to be hypothesising what Kate MIGHT say IF blood was found.
It is so hypothetical it might as well say ‘Madeline might have sprouted wings and flown away’ for all the ‘reality’ it is based on.
Anyway, that aside, if anyone does find blood somewhere, sometime, there had better be a great deal of it - as in a big puddle - before anyone starts jumping to conclusions. A few drops here or there is meaningless IMO.

i actually think gery mimikin is too short to swing, it would more likely be a gentle sway

BLOOD ON THE FLOOR
Tony Bennett - this is the link to the story on the blood on the floor being found
telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/11/wmaddy411.xml
and this is a link to an innocent explanation of the blood (scroll down to the section on the apartment - it is separate from the dna in the car section)
dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=481124&in_page_id=1811
I am still looking to see if this innocent explanation for the blood can be traced back to the McCanns in any interview or whether it is lost in the spin or the tangled ball of wool as your Portuguese article would have it.
Will keep you posted.

If the McKillers supposedly hired the SAS team 4 months ago then how do they explain only £ 80000 being spent from the vast fortune they gathered.
I bet they cannot prove having that team on the “case”
September 24th, 2007 at 7:44 pm
Blood explained.
There was defiantly a quote by Gerry that Blood could be explained by the fall on the way up the stairs to the plane.
Anyone got it?
September 24th, 2007 at 7:44 pm
judith i did notice that she had a swelling around the abdomen, i just assumed it was irritable bowel syndrome, possible brought on by the stress of guilt.
it would explain her constant expression of being uncomfortable as oppossed to being in grief

Afterall, you’re the attorney here - and you can’t snow the snowman!

I bet Mrs. McCnab is pregnant. I mentioned she looked it in photos a week ago, but look at today’s ‘Mail’ where she’s swinging one of the twins on the way to church with Mr. McCnab. She’s really swollen round the middle and her top is outside her roomy trousers. Not at all as she looked in her hey-day in Portugal. So if she is, that’s a quick IVF result. And what cuddly-toy,silver balloon, lots of pressies for the ‘replacement’ baby great publicity that will be.Sorry if this sounds cynical, but that’s because it is.

546 - Blunger, if you’re referring to my post 534 with this comment, I’d like to let you know that I consider ALL children beautiful, regardless of physical features or imperfections.
Well alleluiah and praise the Lord! I was beginning to think the old adage “never judge a book by it’s cover” was spilling over onto everyone on this forum. Who cares what a child looks like? A Child is a Child is a Child. And that is a beautiful thing. Anything or Anyone who views it differently is pure rubbish and very shallow. But I have concerns that many on this forum are purely interested in this case because, it’s about a blonde haired blue eyed little girl. If she was severely disfigured or fat or had jet black curly hair and a scrunched up nose and wore glasses, would she be getting the same level of attention? No, probably not…..sad to say.
Unless of course there are more on this forum like Julie and me who believe that beauty comes in many forms because beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

519 Caroline. Am I missing something or are you saying it’s wrong that all these people are speculating that the abductor was hiding in Madeleine’s hotel room? HMM… This was Gerry mcCann’s own statement that every HEADLINE in the Web was citing a couple of days ago. As this site is about the mysterious disappearance of Madeleine mcCann, people would speculate about Madeleine’s disappearence. I guess for many it was just another highly improbable scenario and another annoying statement from Gerry mcCann. Consequently, maybe all of the contributions weren’t even supportive.

272 The Real Stig said: “…What blood? To date, I have seen nothing but rumour and speculation about their being any confirmed blood found anywhere. I could be wrong of course, so If you have a link, I would appreciate it”.
REPLY: So why did Kate McCann, or ’sources close to Kate McCann’, come out straightaway and try to explain how the blood might have got there - and a pretty unconvincing explanation at that?
September 24th, 2007 at 7:00 pm
508 - Real Stig
No, I wouldn’t say to anyone what I was doing to find my missing child. Neither would I have the time or frame of mind to write inane drivel about what the weather was like or the fact that I went jogging either.
Again, as per usual, you miss the point.

267 Rab 244 “Firestar, I just don’t think it feasible that all the Tapas 9 are in on it. I cannot imagine that you would trust that many people to retain a secret and remain accurate in their stories. The more people involved, the more involved the story, and the more possible chance that someone cracks or slips up”.

529 Seymour Laws, this post of yours is quite unnecessary, and I take utmost offence to it!
————————————————–
So sorry to offend, but, if you found that post offensive - I would strongly advise you against reading further - my remark barely registers on the Bulldump Scale by which offensiveness is assessed on this Forum.
Nobody’s posts are necessary.
Anyway, more tennis tonight - but will car keys be thrown into the ice bucket on the bar, I doubt it - Monday night is not even members’ night
September 24th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
I remember ( unlike Gerry ) that the blood was explained away by the cut on Maddies Knee on boarding the plane.
I think it was Gerry.
Any quotes on it?
This could be a prove all in one.
If a photo was shown of her knee and a close up was given, then reading his statement ( yet to be confirmed ) Surely there is doubt?

I think their intention, taking it to the press right at the start was to act as a virtual ‘Amber alert’ because it is not something that would happen in Portugal in its own right
I think things are changing on here. It was interesting when people were trying to make sense of the evidence but now its a free for all of nasty thoughts.
Because of the Police methods of keeping everything confidential no one really knows anything except what people (K & G) have said themselves. The Tapas 9 do not appear to have commented.
Maybe things have changed because there is not much coming out in the way of press statements to work on. I feel this site is very pro Murat. I am not pro anyone. I do not like it when people change their statements which it appears Murat did and Jane Tanner did but then I do not know for sure that they did.
September 24th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
523. That’s the impression I’ve got (from outside the UK) too: the PJ have solid evidence that they are now revaluating and retesting in lack of co-operation from the suspects.
Maybe it will soon be revealed how one-sided the overwhelming media war run by Team mcCann really is.
I’ll be glad to accept that the mcCann’s play no part in the disappearance other than allow a window(/door/crime scene). But to actually have an aggresive media war to prove your innocent smells suspicious… Oh I hope they are proven innocent by solid evidence, not because there’s not enough evidence to prove them guilty. That’s the point I was seeking all afternoon…

223 Edna Simons St. Ignatius said: “The McCann camp stated blood in the apartment was from an injury to the leg sustained falling on the stairs going into the plane and that MM had crawled under the sofa where the blood was found”.
REPLY: Is that correct? I thought Maeleine’s blood was found ‘on the window sill’ and ‘on the curtains’ (according to reports). Was it found ‘under the sofa’ as well? If your’re revisiting the Forum, could you please re-post the source or link [if anyone esle could help, I'd be grateful].
I hadn’t realised that Kate McCann/a Mccanns’ source had tried to explain that away as well
