Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat Innocent, Private Detectives & Kate McCann’s Hot Lips
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “WE’LL FIND HER OURSELVES. Maddy parents bring in SAS private detectives”.
Kate and Gerry McCann have hired Control Risk Group, billed as a “crack security firm”, to find their daughter.
Page 5: “THE PROFESSIONALS” – There’s TV show in this. The Portuguese police could be the Keystone Cops, at least that’s what the tabloid press portrays them as.
“Millionaire ex-double glazing boss” is the mystery benefactor paying McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell’s wages. The former window cleaner owns Sale Sharks ruby union club. Look out for their new sponsor.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘McCanns ARE LYING’ - Portuguese police says friends are in cover-up.”
Robert Murat is to be told he will not face charges. Kate and Gerry McCann will be the only named suspects.
“SMILING” – The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPERS leads with a picture of Kate McCann grinning.
Pages 4 and 5: “Kidnap? We just don’t; believe it.” It is reported in Portugal that an unnamed Irishman has come forward to say he was in the same place as the McCanns’ friend Jane Tanner. She told police she had seen a man carrying child dashing from the Ocean Club resort in the direction of Robert Murat’s home. The new witness says he saw no-one.
“’GUILT’ OF PARENTS - More than 60 per cent think the couple know what has happened to Madeleine.”
“WHEN KATE WAS HOT LIPS HEALEY” – 15 YEARS AGO Kate was nicknamed hot lips for her resemblance to Loretta Swit in TV comedy M*A*S*H. The Express has seen her Dundee University year book and the comments - “Kate was great fun”; “renowned for alcoholic binges and some ‘dance till you drop’ nocturnal activities”; “she was certainly more interested in going to the pub than she was in her studies” etc.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: PARENTS ARE LYING. Cops say McCanns & friends tried to frame suspect Murat.”
Pages 4 and 5: “McCANNS ‘ARE LYING’.”
A phone poll: “DO YOU BELIEVE THE McCANNS ARE LYING?” Let’s see if we can top that 60 per cent in the Star’s sister paper the Daily Express. Vote now and vote often.
THE SUN pages 12 and 13: “TWIN’S LIFT FOR MUM AND DAD.”
Kate and Gerry McCann are with son Sean. They have been to Mass. Kate sobs when Ave Maria is sung. Daughter Amelie is in nursery school. She is plying with the Cuddle Cat. She bursts into laughter, “her giggles rang around the building”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Madeleine:
• Ex-SAS team joins hunt
• New sighting in Morocco
• Kate breaks down in church
• Police accused over forensics”
Page 8: “McCanns hire an ex-SAS team to hunt for Maddie.”
“Second witness supports sighting in Morocco” – Remember when Marl Pollard said she saw Madeleine in Morocco? Now we lean that a man also saw Madeleine in Morocco.
THE INDEPENDENT PAGE 17: “Murat no longer suspect.”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 10: “McCanns hired detective firm with ex-SAS men”. Under Portuguese law, the McCanns are not permitted to carry out their own investigation in Portugal. But they can investigate in other countries.
THE TIMES front page: “McCann investigators” – McCanns hire private security firm.
Pages 12 and 13: “How they managed to turn campaign around.” The McCanns are “winning the propaganda war”. They have gone on the “offensive”.
A family source says: “It is for the police to prove they are guilty.”
GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

46 The truth……puuuh.
Somebody said some time ago, the truth had gone lossed.
But that’s not TRUE.
The truth is very easy to localise: It’s between ” they’ve taken her” and ” Maddie has gone”, its between Nappies and steaks, its between two bags , which have not been looked in, and one bag with a Labrador, the truth is opposite to where they are pointing their dirty fingers.
The truth is growing faster than all the lies together. Lucky us.

‘It is one of the biggest stories in years, regularly topping the lists of most-read articles on newspaper websites. Put it on page one and sales soar by 30,000, one tabloid editor says. At the top of its website, between the categories UK News and World News, Sky News lists the subject simply as Madeleine.’ (Source Brandon’s website)
Blimey - that much of an increase in sales on a daily basis = lots of profit.
Could this all really be a hoax cooked up between the McConns and their media pals that has now gone hopelessly off course?

As you know, I’ve decided not to use this forum any more but I looked in a couple of times until you posted. Wanted to thank you for link to Page 7 in yesterday’s Express. (Never thought I’d be grateful for anything in the Express!!!!!!) It cleared up the question in my mind about that Tanner story. Funny that other maps haven’t been quite as clear on that point? Maybe the Sky programme next Sunday will make it clearer? It is certainly a difficult point to grasp without clear maps.
Have you read things today?
Report in Times is interesting. The Mccanns were heavily criticised for not hiring private investigators. A lot on Anorak thought they should have used the fund to do so. I did suggest once that they MAY have done. We couldn’t know. I did wonder but I thought maybe they’d had to stick to Portuguese rules on that one. Clearer now if this report is to be believed. Not sure why they are saying so though?
There is also a report of the Birmingham lab being furious about the wild exaggeration and misuse made in Portugal of the forensic results. I also read (but not in today’s Times) that they may therefore refuse to send any more results. Do you know any more about that? If you do, thanks in advance! (I won’t ever post again.)
Here’s the extract from today’s Times about the private firm
“Private security team hired by Kate and Gerry McCann for secret investigation
David Brown in Praia da Luz and Patrick Foster
A private security firm has been secretly investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann for four months because her parents feared that Portuguese police were failing properly to search for their daughter.
Control Risks Group (CRG) is believed to have been checking reported sightings of Madeleine from around the world and building up profiles of likely abductors.
Kate and Gerry McCann turned to the company, which employs former members of the intelligence services and special forces, after becoming concerned that officers in the Algarve assumed their daughter was dead.
A source close to the couple’s legal team confirmed that CRG had been working with the family since May but refused to discuss how the company was being paid.
“Control Risks are one of the groups who’ve offered their services to the McCanns,” he said. “You can assume that they are doing some things that the Portuguese police can’t do.”
Friends of the couple said the decision showed that they believed Madeleine may still be alive 144 days after she was reported missing from the bedroom of her holiday apartment in Praia da Luz.
Mr McCann first contacted private investigation companies less than three weeks after his daughter was reported missing on May 3 because of concerns that the Portuguese police were not properly checking out all reported sightings. But he had publicly to deny that they were using private detectives when Portuguese police said it would be against the law.
Detectives from the PolÍcia Judiciária say that have checked out 250 reported sightings in Portugal and a further 150 from around Europe and North Africa. But the McCanns have privately expressed fears that key pieces of information may not have been acted on. A source close to the family said that they were particularly dismayed that officers had failed properly to investigate two reports that Madeleine had been spotted in Morocco six days after she disappeared.
A British tourist from Yorkshire told police that he saw a girl resembling Madeleine outside the Ibis hotel in Marrakesh. His testimony was identical to that of another tourist, Marie Pollard, 45, from Norway, who claimed that she was “100 per cent convinced” that she saw Madeleine at a police station opposite.
Both witnesses have complained that Portuguese officers were not interested in what they believed were potentially key sightings. Mr and Mrs McCann, both 39, spent two days in Morocco in June to seek assurances from the authorities that sightings would be investigated and to promote the hunt for Madeleine.
“Gerry and Kate McCann have always believed the Morocco sightings were vital,” a friend said. “Kate said her instinct from the start has been that Madeleine was smuggled into North Africa.”
Clarence Mitchell, the couple’s spokesman, said: “We have been aware of it for months. It was made known to us when it happened. All I can say is that any possible sightings, if credible, we hope would be examined thoroughly, whether it’s in Portugal, Spain or anywhere else.”
Other sightings reported in Spain, Malta, Belgium and Switzerland have been ruled out after investigations by local police. The McCanns hope that CRG will help to verify such reports as well as provide information on the type of people who might have abducted Madeleine and support networks that might operate in each country.
The company has more than 600 employees, many former members of MI5, MI6, the SAS and Special Boat Service. It is the highest-earning British security firm operating in Iraq.
A former intelligence expert who has worked with CRG said: “They can offer advice on personal safety, counter safety. For example, who is watching the McCanns and even advice on hostage negotiation should that be needed. In addition . . . they will most likely offer the McCanns security advice and how to deal with bogus tips.”
A CRG spokesman would only say: “Our policy is simply not to talk about our clients. We promise our clients 100 per cent confidentiality - discretion is our watchword.”
I won’t be posting agin but just wanted to thank you. I DID have a worrying question about that Tanner sighting, I must admit. Clearer now!

September 24th, 2007 at 9:51 am
41 - I have come across a patient with Munchausens before - same thing only they convince doctors that they are ill for attention. She had had loads of surgery and it was accepted that she was bedbound (don’t know why) - the medics and the nurses all agreed that there was nothing physically wrong with her and agreed that she had Munchausen’s - but a formal diagnosis was never made - it was never written in any of her notes and she continued to be treated for her various ‘illnesses’ because non of the medical staff had the balls to stop it.
This will continue because the more operations / investigations she has the less likely a doctor will diagnose it (because it reflects badly on the previous surgeons / specialists who took her seriousley.
Munchausens by proxy is even more difficult and not usually diagnosed until someone is hurt / killed and evidence is gathered - re: Beverley Allet (not sure how her name is spelt).

DAILY McMAIL - BREAKING NEWS
A source close to the Mccann family has today exclusively revealed that the McCanns never went to Portugal. All their friends were confused with a holiday they had together in March of this year in Madrid.
All the press coverage was taken AFTER they heard of Madeleine’s abduction when they immediately flew there in Richard Bransons air balloon.
Madeleine went to Portugal alone with Cuddle Cat and the family friend, who does not wish to be named, says the Mccans even have a postcard Madeleine sent them from Praia da Luz.
Clarence Mitchell said “This story once again proves the Mccans are totally innocent. Gerry and Kate could not reveal this correction before due to Portugese laws. Now there innocent has been established, they plan to take a well-deserved holiday to Vegas.”

46 cathy - I am not anti McCann, but I am pro-truth and like 47 would so love to have to admit my scepticism regarding the story we are being spun and re-spun from the McCanns on a daily basis.
September 24th, 2007 at 9:49 am
46
we dont like that much publicity
We are busy watching our kids
what truth the first days one ? , or the one when they were accused?

And that has been clear from DAY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2007 at 9:49 am
37 for sure not as successfull as KM.

I’m sure you’re right. The Mccanns woudn’t have stayed such a long time if it wouldn’t be safe??
September 24th, 2007 at 9:47 am
46 cathy - Im sure everyone on this site would so love to be proved wrong!
September 24th, 2007 at 9:45 am
All the anti McCanns on this site really should get their heads examined. You really are psychopathic reality show lovers that have absolutely no lives at all. Would love to see YOUR faces when the truth is out

Am wondering who will play the ex-SAS team in the film? Arnie? Sly? Jean Claude Van Damme? Dolph Ludgrun?
September 24th, 2007 at 9:44 am
Good of the ex-SAS mob to slot them. In.
September 24th, 2007 at 9:43 am
the “friends” theme tune now has a sinister meaning
So no one told you life was gonna be this way
(clap clap clap clap)
Your job’s a joke, you’re broke, your love life’s D.O.A.
It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear
When it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month, or even your year
But
I’ll be there for you (when the rain starts to pour)
I’ll be there for you (like I’ve been there before)
I’ll be there for you (because you’re there for me too)
September 24th, 2007 at 9:43 am
re 37 —-The affected parent is usually very helpful in the hospital setting and is often appreciated by the nursing staff for the care she gives her child. She is commonly seen as devoted and unusually self-sacrificing, which can make medical professionals unlikely to suspect the diagnosis.
September 24th, 2007 at 9:43 am
sorry - Munchausens by proxy (i can’t spell)
September 24th, 2007 at 9:42 am
37 - Munhausens by proxy - didn’t that nurse who killed loads of patients have it?
September 24th, 2007 at 9:40 am
Notice there is not as much focus on the ‘Fiend’ today - but now its all about the ‘Fiends’. Ooops, mean ‘Friends’.
September 24th, 2007 at 9:40 am
Did anyone see the crime channel last night, about a mother who pretended her daughter had cancer to scam money from people. Is was suggested she has a desease which made her cause pain to others (usually their own children) to get attention. I was amazed with the similarities of this woman and KM.
September 24th, 2007 at 9:39 am

noseycow
I didn’t know that, but the fact still remains it was the site’s decision, not anyone or anything else. Can you imagine what it would take to shut down all the blogs which are anti-mc? It will never happen.

No bombs over Portugal! I want to live. I can hear it now wherever it is one goes when they die….”So, how’d you get here?” “My country was bombed by Britain because of a missing little girl and her uncaring parents.”
It’s so safe here, that’s why I stay. We have no enemies and the only terrorists are those who find Algarve a great place for a hideout or cell. One doesn’t shit where one sleeps. A tad crude, granted, but it’s true.
September 24th, 2007 at 9:39 am
I’m going to a confirmation class tonight with my daughter
I am going to put it all to my priest about the vatican and missing priests and confessions

Whats your take on all the changes of stories then?
especially the new payne one?
September 24th, 2007 at 9:39 am
Portugal 3rd May
more like this…
Kate: “They’ve taken her. They’ve taken Madeleine.”
Gerry: “Right, everyone. Put your wine glasses down, gather lots of random strangers and lets go trample all over the villa to destroy all the DNA evidence of the abducter.”
Neighbour: “Shall I call the police?”
Kate: “NO! Dont you dare. Not yet. Wait till I hide the sedative pills, wipe the blood off the wall and check we havent left any other clues.”
September 24th, 2007 at 9:36 am
27 susanna says (September 24th, 2007 at 9:28 am): “I had a dream last night.
I was Kate. There was the most amazing suffering… But to have accidentally killed her must shatter the very core of your being…Being the mother of six I know how our children’s become the basis of ours. I want truth and yet I am also willing to offer forgiveness”.
REPLY: I agree about forgiveness, despite my harsh comments on this site about the McCanns and the ‘Tapas 9. We all make mistakes and I’ve made several over the years. But forgiveness is really only possible if both of these occur:
1. Full confession of the whole truth and nothing but the truth
2. Genuine sorrow or repentance.
Despite that, there still needs to be, in addition, reasonable punishment for any crimes committed by any of the ‘Tapas 9′. If the Portuguese did hint to the McCanns at a light sentence for an accidental killing, the McCanns may live to regret not taking that opportunity whilst it was on offer. They have all dug themselves a deeper hole since then
September 24th, 2007 at 9:35 am
Nobody seems to have clarified whether leaving your kids alone in the hotel room in a resort is a legal offence or not. If it is not do we need legislation? We know that the Tapas 9 and the McCann’s would be intimately knowledegable about child welfare duties because they will have learnt at medical school and through their interaction with Social Services. So if some good is going to come of this maybe a better enforcement of parental responsibilities while parents are on holidya is needed. We can see now how irresponsibly informed people can act. In fact this is a good reason for a prosecution, if the negligence is illegal.
Is it an offence in Europe to leave kids alone in hotel bedrooms?

the crime started after an accident, I hope.
