Madeleine McCann: Robert Murat Innocent, Private Detectives & Kate McCann’s Hot Lips
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “WE’LL FIND HER OURSELVES. Maddy parents bring in SAS private detectives”.
Kate and Gerry McCann have hired Control Risk Group, billed as a “crack security firm”, to find their daughter.
Page 5: “THE PROFESSIONALS” – There’s TV show in this. The Portuguese police could be the Keystone Cops, at least that’s what the tabloid press portrays them as.
“Millionaire ex-double glazing boss” is the mystery benefactor paying McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell’s wages. The former window cleaner owns Sale Sharks ruby union club. Look out for their new sponsor.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘McCanns ARE LYING’ - Portuguese police says friends are in cover-up.”
Robert Murat is to be told he will not face charges. Kate and Gerry McCann will be the only named suspects.
“SMILING” – The WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPERS leads with a picture of Kate McCann grinning.
Pages 4 and 5: “Kidnap? We just don’t; believe it.” It is reported in Portugal that an unnamed Irishman has come forward to say he was in the same place as the McCanns’ friend Jane Tanner. She told police she had seen a man carrying child dashing from the Ocean Club resort in the direction of Robert Murat’s home. The new witness says he saw no-one.
“’GUILT’ OF PARENTS - More than 60 per cent think the couple know what has happened to Madeleine.”
“WHEN KATE WAS HOT LIPS HEALEY” – 15 YEARS AGO Kate was nicknamed hot lips for her resemblance to Loretta Swit in TV comedy M*A*S*H. The Express has seen her Dundee University year book and the comments - “Kate was great fun”; “renowned for alcoholic binges and some ‘dance till you drop’ nocturnal activities”; “she was certainly more interested in going to the pub than she was in her studies” etc.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: PARENTS ARE LYING. Cops say McCanns & friends tried to frame suspect Murat.”
Pages 4 and 5: “McCANNS ‘ARE LYING’.”
A phone poll: “DO YOU BELIEVE THE McCANNS ARE LYING?” Let’s see if we can top that 60 per cent in the Star’s sister paper the Daily Express. Vote now and vote often.
THE SUN pages 12 and 13: “TWIN’S LIFT FOR MUM AND DAD.”
Kate and Gerry McCann are with son Sean. They have been to Mass. Kate sobs when Ave Maria is sung. Daughter Amelie is in nursery school. She is plying with the Cuddle Cat. She bursts into laughter, “her giggles rang around the building”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Madeleine:
• Ex-SAS team joins hunt
• New sighting in Morocco
• Kate breaks down in church
• Police accused over forensics”
Page 8: “McCanns hire an ex-SAS team to hunt for Maddie.”
“Second witness supports sighting in Morocco” – Remember when Marl Pollard said she saw Madeleine in Morocco? Now we lean that a man also saw Madeleine in Morocco.
THE INDEPENDENT PAGE 17: “Murat no longer suspect.”
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 10: “McCanns hired detective firm with ex-SAS men”. Under Portuguese law, the McCanns are not permitted to carry out their own investigation in Portugal. But they can investigate in other countries.
THE TIMES front page: “McCann investigators” – McCanns hire private security firm.
Pages 12 and 13: “How they managed to turn campaign around.” The McCanns are “winning the propaganda war”. They have gone on the “offensive”.
A family source says: “It is for the police to prove they are guilty.”
GUARDIAN: No Madeleine news today.

87 susanna
I would not put it past the Mccons to arrange to have the twins “abducted” to try to prove their story.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:43 am
No i havent
what happened?
Surely this firm were going on what team mc cann told them and believed them
surely they are confused to say the least
Why would you instinctively know a morrocan had abducted your child?
Was there one following her all holiday?
or another ruse to fit in with the photo of the man in their holiday snap?
Or making this firm travel miles from the resort the best way to keep them of the scent?
Also if Mrat was the only suspect at the time surely they would have investigated more around there?
September 24th, 2007 at 10:42 am
87 - That I think would be the point of removing the twins from the McCann household- so that they could experience family - ie a foster family or adoptive family where they would not be stuck in a creche all day, drugged up, and left alone at night.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:41 am
I am playing devils advocate.
Arguing for both sides.
Again I state truth must prevail.
And so must reason.
How on earth is it going to benefit the twins to be removed from their parents?
They have already lost a sister.
Accidents happen.
That is why they are accidents.
If it was me I would also be trying to save myself.
And with each lie dig a deeper hole.
This whole thing has to play itself out.
But leave the twins where they are for now.
Let them experience family for longer.

Murat - Will the Mirror now do a nice piece about journalists who try to make their name through false accusations?
Like Watsername.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:38 am
84 - Brandon. Remember that film ‘No Way Out’ where Kevin Costner (I think) is hired to find himself!

“Kate said her instinct from the start has been that Madeleine was smuggled into North Africa.”
Funny instincts she has
surely a mothers instincts are to care for 3 small babies and protect them
Also if they were doing their job properly surely the “ludricous” changes in stories would leave them puzzled to say the least!
If the Mc Canns are the ones paying can they investigate them?
September 24th, 2007 at 10:34 am
Thanks Tony 61. My guess is assuming the McCann’s are innocent, which we must, then Social services will not torment them further, and assume they have learnt their lesson. My view is we need prosecutions to improve parental behaviour in general. I can’t help wondering whether a private prosecution would be viable, to push Social services into doing something?

The McCann sources and PR stories get wilder by the day.I smell some desperation going on.Seems Murat may be a witness against them too hence him still being unable to talk though cleared.
O/T but see a body has been found in woods near where that teenage girl ran away from home a couple of weeks ago after a tiff with her folks over her horse riding/ job.
SAS, allegedly on job since May,have found not one clue yet.???????.Or was the bit about them being on job since early May made up by Mail ? What happens by the way IF SAS find team McCann are the guilty parties after all . ?
PJ do not believe new friend who has popped up either it seems :

I so want to be proven wrong for my doubts about the McCanns innocence. I wish they would just get a grip and instead of hiring all these ‘big hitters’/ex-SAS/PR gorillas etc. they would just go back to Portugal voluntarily, with all their friends, and answer the PJ’s questions honestly and fully.
If they have nothing to hide, why not just do it.
The longer this charade with ‘new memories/new witnesses/new evidence’ etc. goes on the more damaging for their credibility and in the long run it will alienate them from even their most avid supporters.
Please please team McCann - take the lead. Answer the questions and then maybe the spotlight can once again be put on finding that little girl - dead or alive.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:30 am
The Mcconns love to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut..
They hire a team of top criminal defence lawyers (who represented 3000-death killer Pinochet) and top PR men, when the family solicitor could have done the job perfectly well if they were really innocent.
They raise (or con people into donating?) £1million when they only wanted £80,000 to print some posters.
They travel the whole of Europe and to the USA to find a little girl who is lost in the Portugal/Spain/Morocca area.
It really would not surprise me then that if poor little Madeleine wanted to stay up up another 5 minutes to play with Cuddle Cat, they bludgeoned her to death.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:27 am
77 - 2 hours before a dead body starts exuding these smells.
So Tony Bennett’s theory above fits well with the Strongwood theory that MM was killed before 7pm
September 24th, 2007 at 10:25 am
Do you think that instead of the SAS, they meant to send an SOS and got it wrong!!!
Let’s hope SAS stands for ‘Search All Stones’. Wouldn’t it be ironic if was the SAS that unearthed the body!
September 24th, 2007 at 10:23 am
How long after death does it take for a body to start exuding “cadaver” smells? It must be several hours. If we had a reliable answer to this, it would help us pinpoint the moment of death.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:23 am
CRG are not really Private Investigators, their remit is a little more clandestine and specialised for that… however they were hired nearly 4 MONTHS ago by the McCanns, to look into all ’sightings’ etc of Madeleine and to concentrate on following the trail of her ‘abductor’.
So … ex SAS, espionage connections all over Europe, privately paid to concentrate on the case as the McCanns’ dictate … and after 4 Months even THEY have found no trace of Madeleine?? I would have expected that, given the McCann’s current situation, if CRG had found ANY evidence whatsoever to back up the abduction story then it would have been shouted from the rooftops, projected onto the surface of the moon and ’sources close to the McCanns’ would have held a ticker tape parade in Pall Mall by now.
As for the 2nd ’sighting’ of Madeleine in Morocco … what seems to be being glossed over here, is that the ’sighting’ took place in the Same Place and during the Same Week that the original sighting by the Norweigan lady was reported … you remember - that nice Norweigan lady who lives in Spain with her English husband (who knows John McCann) - the same couple who emigrated to Spain from a nice little village about 7 miles from Rothley.
I’d be more interested if the name and connections of the mysterious man from Yorkshire were to be made public - but not that interested on balance, given that the other ’sighting’ was obviously found to be groundless by PJ, Morroccan Police AND CRG.

Just going back to Eddie and the scent of death.
We have discussed the pitiful attempt to discredit the dog’s findings.
What we haven’t discussed is what motivated the joint JP British Police operation to bring in a cadaver detecting canine in the first place.
There must have been grounds to believe that a cadaver could have been present in the apartment even before the dog was flown in.
Remember that, even with pet passports, moving an animal across Europe is not undertaken lightly and not without reasonable grounds from the police investigation point of view.

Bulldump, that’s the double edged sword of the internet. Under my own name I have around 10 pages hence I am always careful and I have suggested before that every word typed is traceable.
Maria…. sadly no-one is going to believe it. There are many here who WANT toe McCanns to be guilty and are not interested in anything that says otherwise!

1505 from Saturday and Sunday’s thread — Murder wrote: “O’Brien is a clinical pharmacologist…He was also away at his apartment (right next to the McCanns) for a very long time between 9:00 and 10:00″.
REPLY: I think the reports suggest that O’Brien was ‘away from the table’ nearly the whole time; I don’t think he was there at all until very late; one report I think has him returning to the Tapas bar ’shortlty before 10.00pm’.
When the job was done.
Does not the following fit the facts? - and explain the obvious lies told by Gerry and Kate McCann and their ’sources’ and some of the ‘Tapas 9′?:
1. O’Brien in the apartment with the McCanns until around 8.40pm/8.45pm and indeed way beyond until nearly 10.00pm
2. O’Brien during this time helping McCanns to clear up anything that needed clearing up after Madeleie had died/been killed and ‘arranging’ the scene to make it look like an abduction - shutters raised, windows opened, Cuddle Cat on ledge, bed & sheets etc. in disarray
3. Around 8.40pm/8.45pm Kate & Gerry McCann walk to Tapas bar (remember one witness unconnected to the ‘Tapas 9′ says they arrived as late as 8.58pm)
4. Gerry returns towards apartment to ensure O’Brien (and maybe one other) is ‘covered’/shielded as he takes Madeleine’s body, and bumps into Jeremy Wilkins. Probably he has one eye looking up to the apartment as they talk. He was acting as a ‘look-out’. According to reports, this conversation was at least 10 minutes long, possibly up to 20 (9.05pm to 9.25pm are common starting and finishing timres for this conversation) [in this respect I agree with the suggestions of Murder - post No. 1496 from Saturday and Sunday's thread]
5. Gerry returns to Tapas bar 9.20pm/9.25pm
6. Dr Matthew Oldfield despatched to the apartment for some reason - the story of him checking the kids is bogus - invented. Very convenient that he wasn’t sure if Madeleine was there in the bed and ‘the apartment looked lighter’. He is despatched to embellish the abduction hoax
7. O’Brien, having left the apartment and placed Madeleine’s body safely somewhere out of the way or on a boat, returns to Tapas bar at nearly 10.00pm. The whole ‘his child was sick’ story is again almost certainly an invention to cover for the fact that until around 9.50pm he was arranging the disposal of Madeleine’s body and by nearly 10.00pm he had probably returned from the nearby beach.
NOTE: If there was indeed a second sighting of someone carrying a small child in a blanket, then Tanner’s story confirms Madeleine being taken (albeit by a mystery abductor) - and maybe another Praia da Luz resident *did* see Madeleine being taken by O’Brien down towards the beach/port. On that analysis, Tanner would have given a vague description of the abductor when first questioned, throwing the police off the scent of O’Brien but confirming the abduction theory - and when later questioned would no doubt have supplied a description that was very different from O’Brien. Is it possible that on this second occasion she gave a description remarkably similar to that of Robert Murat? - in order to head the PJ (and the media) off in that direction?

you will need to click the ‘?’ links to get an explanation of the data.
its only proportionately indicative, as it relies on data from those PC’s that have Alexa toolbar installed (of which there are more in the US than UK/europe).

hmmmmm it seems like someone is up to no good. I have been quite outspoken on this forum for some time, cause I believe mimikin and skeletor mccann are hiding something. At the very least they are guilty of willfull neglect and causing death by neglect.
It seems to have upset someone though, if you go to google and type in ‘bulldump’ and ‘anorak’ and look at the results the links that come up are pretty astonding even by my standards, SO BEWARE

“A source close to the couple’s legal team confirmed that CRG had been working with the family since May but refused to discuss how the company was being paid.”
Whenever you see the phrase “A source close to the family…” or “the friend who did not wish to be named” - you should replace it with “The next bit is a made-up lie.”

32 Michael says (September 24th, 2007 at 9:35 am) “Nobody seems to have clarified whether leaving your kids alone in the hotel room in a resort is a legal offence or not”.
REPLY: No it isn’t, except that it’s a matter of degree.
Leaving them asleep in a hotel room for a few minutes is not.
Leaving three very young children at 7.30pm in an unlocked room about 120 to 150 yards away on foot, whilst you eat and booze the night away, may be another matter.
Leaving your children in the evening or at night whilst you go out working is a regrettably common practice in London, especially by single mothers, though usually not such young children as the McCanns’.
These matters have come to the attention of Leicestershire Social Services. They have visited the McCanns and will currently be undertaking an investigation under Section 47 Children Act 1989 to assess any risks to the children - a ‘risk assessment’ for want of a better word. The rumour that they have insisted the McCanns are not left alone with the twins would be consistent with good child protection practice and may well have been implemented already under formal Child Protection procedures. Social Services would be unlilkely to discount entirely the possibility that the McCanns, accidentally or otherwise, killed their daughter and covered it up. They will also have assessed some of the clear indications of lies, deceptions, manipulative behaviour and avoidance of responsibility exhibited by the McCanns - not good signs where the welfare of childen is concerned.
There may well have been what is called a Child Protection Case Conference by now, at which the welfare of the twins will have been fully discussed by a multi-disciplinary meeting (doctors, child psychologists etc.). Team McCann and dear old Clarence would keep very quiet about that if Social Services - as I think is highly likely by now - have put the other two chilldren on the Child Protection (= ‘At Risk’) Register. This is usually done for six-month periods, renewable if concerns about the childrens’ welfare persist.
Parents can be prosecuted for child abuse e.g. physical, sexual or emotional abuse. There is also an offence of wilful child neglect under the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 - rarely used, but possibly appropriate in this case
