Madeleine McCann: A House Of Love, Find the Body & What Kate McCann Screamed
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘FIND BODY OR McCANNS WILL ESCAPE’ – Prosecutors ultimatum to Portuguese police.”
The case against Kate and Gerry McCanns is “hanging by a thread”.
A police sources says: “There is a determination within the force to bring this investigation to a satisfactory conclusion but there is a growing fear that without a body, that goal will be impossible.”
Pages 4 and 5: “Our reputation is tarnished forever” – Each day the McCanns prepare themselves for the “worst case scenario”. No, not that they will be wrongly convicted, rather they will learn of Madeleine’s death.
Clarence Mitchell says: “In the middle of this people forget this is still a family who are potentially facing bereavement but are still in that awful limbo position of not knowing what has happened to their daughter.” Thankfully Mr Mitchell is on hand to remind people of this every day.
“Doubts on the McCanns by a lie detector expert” – THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER asks John Ryan, of International Truth Verification Technologies Institute, to listen to Kate McCann’s voice. Says she: “However I think there is some sort of deception when I hear the lady speaking, either over the event or in avoiding showing her true feelings”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE – find a body or there is no case.”
Page 5: “Gerry and Kate have often talked about the possibility of Madeleine being found dead. That would be the worst news but it would at least give them some..CLOSURE”. So says a “source close to the legal team”.
Antonio Cluny, President of the Public Prosecution Service, says: “Without the little girl’s body, everything is complicated… In the Maddy case, there is no confession and, according to what has been made public, the evidence gathered up until now keeps all leads open – from abduction to homicide or at least to a simple accident”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “EXCLUSIVE: Eyewitness reveals Maddie’s mother DID shout: ‘They’ve taken her’ after four-year-old vanished. WHAT KATE DID SCREAM.”
Nanny Charlotte Pennington is in Praia da Luz. She hears Kate McCann scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!” The McCanns say Kate screamed “Madeleine’s gone”.
Sensation. Front-page news.
Page 4: “Nanny Pennington, who worked at the Ocean Club, is pictured. She’s wearing a brown beret and a pink coat. Her tights are black. Her legs are crossed.
“I was in the apartment less than five minutes after they found that Madeleine had gone. When we were coming out we saw Kate and she was screaming: ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’… It might not have been the first thing she said. But she definitely said it.”
So…
“She also repeated Madeleine’s name and said: ‘She’s gone, she’s gone.’”
Anyone hear anything else?
THE SUN page 24: “MADDIE LAW CHIEF: NO BODY, NO CASE.” Antonio Clunes says: “There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without a victim – but there were confessions.”
But the McCanns are innocent, says a source. And they are not confessing. They are talking through their spokesperson.
DAILY STAR front page: “COPS CLOSE IN ON MADDIE. Final pieces of tragic jigsaw falling into place.”
Pages 4 and 5: “FIND THE BODY OR THEY WALK. Law bosses tell Portuguese cops to step up hunt.”
“TWINS’ HOUSE OF LOVE” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns have built a “house of love” for their family. Mr Mitchell says the McCanns are living “every parent’s worst nightmare times ten”. Mr Mitchell used to work for the tabloid press.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 13: “Case against McCanns ‘rests on finding body’.”
Clarence Mitchell says: “They did not harm, let alone kill her.”
THE TIMES page 11: “No body, no conviction says McCann police.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine news.

I’m just posting the link to some new illustrations, which have come out on the matter (madder?), but I have no intentions to enter the trap today.

Yes “they are said to have sent e-mails knowing Maddie was dead.” UNLESS you have seen those e-mails with your own two eyes, you have NO CLUE they are real. Again and again and again in this case, we have seen something that is printed as TRUTH today turn out to be absolute BALONEY tomorrow. The PJ intentionally misleads us, journalists are competing like maniacs trying to print “new” information no one else has, and they are printing random lies all over the place… You guys pick over it all like stinking vultures, toss away the bits that don’t fit into your scenario of the case, and try to convict parents of murdering their own daughter!

I am truly absorbed by this case, as well as frustrated and angered by it. I’m here because I’m trying to figure out what happened and learn more about what information is available. I don’t just accept the mainstream media’s word for everything, as I know that it cannot be relied on to provide the whole truth. Like you, I get tired of reading non-stop posts of comments that are contrary to my way of thinking and I avoid those sites that are overwhelmingly pro-McCann because it drives me crazy. I think people who cannot contemplate the POSSIBILITY that these parents are involved with their daughter’s disappearance and/or death are either naive or intentionally trying to sway public opinion. Which camp do you fall into?
If you truly believe the McCanns to be innocent, why don’t you lay off the attacks and present some rational arguments, use sources, and try to persuade us to see your side of things. If you’re here just to yell and stamp your feet, then you’ll be ignored by most of us and you’re wasting your time and this space.

September 25th, 2007 at 11:37 pm
All I would like to know is who made that ‘picture of Madeleine in Morocco’ and

“(other than mostly false crap they’ve read in foreign tabloids). ”
What EVIDENCE do you have that the stories in newspapers published by other Europeans is “false crap”?
September 25th, 2007 at 11:33 pm
1059 - I am going to regret taking hingegate any further I know! but…
IF the abductor was hiding behind the door waiting for Gerry to leave before taking Madeleine and carrying her through the window, why not shut the bedroom door first to avoid being seen from the patio doors in case Gerry was still hanging around there.
Ummm.
I agree this is all just speculation, but without Gerry’s ‘Fiend’ all we have by way of ‘evidence’ for abduction is Cuddle Cat being moved to a high shelf.
Still not very convincing.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:32 pm
If you want to know the truth send an email to the newspapers demanding they lean on the rest of the Tapas Doctors.
They are said to have sent emails to each other saying they knew Madeleine was dead - this is why the Police turned attention on the McCanns.

innocent?
The Mccons are the 2 who dumped Madeleine at a play group during the daytimes and left her alone night after night, crying and scared, in an unlocked room in a foreign country, while they got pissed (out of sight and hearing distance) on numerous wine bottles with their mates till the early hours and on one occassion even went out on the town 5km away!
Now, without emotionally getting worked up and hurling abuse at me, tell me which of the above facts is incorrect.

As I’ve said in this forum before, I have no guilt with what I say about suspecting the McCanns and saying so here (as I’ve said I don’t know for sure exactly what they’re guilty of beyond child neglect and endangerment). The McCanns themselves have regularly used the media to manipulate the public’s perception of the case. The McCanns are voluntarily joining in with the media speculation and, IMO, that makes them fair game for us to interpret what they have said and done, as related to the disappearance of their daughter.
1059 - Newtothis
I think you are correct. The door would blow open, I think, not closed. It would be good to get confirmation on which way the door swings open–in or out of the bedroom.

Stickler- nope. Could be me, sounds like me, but I’m older and not so pretty (anymore).

Nonsense, I don’t have any strong opinions about the McCanns (although just for the sake of hoping for Madeleine, I hope they are innocent). What I do have strong feelings about is dumb bells who have nothing better to do than turn themselves into afternoon armchair detectives (I’m not a detective, but I play one on the Internet!!) and accuse potentially innocent people of MURDERING THEIR OWN DAUGHTER without ANY EVIDENCE whatsoever (other than mostly false crap they’ve read in foreign tabloids). That is absolutely disgusting.

1058 Krissie. Personally I don’t see anything sick in wanting to see justice be done. The JP and the British police would not be investigating this case if there were no evidence. Much of the evidence is currently being analysed in Birmingham by forensic services.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:27 pm
I have just seen the breaking news photo. I am a truly terrible photographer but even I could not have taken a worse photo. And how come it’s taken three plus weeks for the photographer - a European holiday maker who’s been bombarded with press coverage over that period - to notice the alleged resemblance? Will the zillion experts involved in this case come up with a clearer version we can all see and assess properly? Not rocket science surely.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
For goodness sake lets not start a ‘hingegate’.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
Unless the artist is a psychic he probably made it as a way of expressing his feelings about the media stories.
When you put all the gossip…truths and half truths together you get the picture he is prtraying.
Most psychics will scribble but as he is an accomplished artist that also has photos of sculptures on his website it is more likely he is making a statement.
The reason it affects you is probably because it contains all the worst case scenarios you have thought of. If it comes true he could say it was a premonition and become famous….

You will not stop people on this forum expressing their views and opinions, no matter how unfounded YOU believe they are.
If you dont like it, go away and setup your own forum or debate with them without personal insults.
But dont attempt to gag people’s right to express their views in a free, democratic society.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
If you notice, in my first posting, I did not say I come here “Every day.” I said “Every time I come here..”
I do not come here, every day, I come here whenever it pops up on my computer screen. Besides which, so what? Maybe I do go out of my way looking for car accidents. You obviously do, too, if you’re here every day (and all day long, to boot… ). I already confessed to being a voyeur, and accuse you of the same. What’s your point?
September 25th, 2007 at 11:24 pm

Ade quote
‘Doors can be hinged either side and can open either way’.
Well done clever cloggs. But your missing my point. What I’m saying is that with the software used the doors open one way only by default. The walls are constructed and then the doors added. Unless the default is changed they will all open the same way. As per your drawing. And I say again the doors are put there for illustration purposes only. Not to sell apartments!
