Madeleine McCann: A House Of Love, Find the Body & What Kate McCann Screamed
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘FIND BODY OR McCANNS WILL ESCAPE’ – Prosecutors ultimatum to Portuguese police.”
The case against Kate and Gerry McCanns is “hanging by a thread”.
A police sources says: “There is a determination within the force to bring this investigation to a satisfactory conclusion but there is a growing fear that without a body, that goal will be impossible.”
Pages 4 and 5: “Our reputation is tarnished forever” – Each day the McCanns prepare themselves for the “worst case scenario”. No, not that they will be wrongly convicted, rather they will learn of Madeleine’s death.
Clarence Mitchell says: “In the middle of this people forget this is still a family who are potentially facing bereavement but are still in that awful limbo position of not knowing what has happened to their daughter.” Thankfully Mr Mitchell is on hand to remind people of this every day.
“Doubts on the McCanns by a lie detector expert” – THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER asks John Ryan, of International Truth Verification Technologies Institute, to listen to Kate McCann’s voice. Says she: “However I think there is some sort of deception when I hear the lady speaking, either over the event or in avoiding showing her true feelings”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE – find a body or there is no case.”
Page 5: “Gerry and Kate have often talked about the possibility of Madeleine being found dead. That would be the worst news but it would at least give them some..CLOSURE”. So says a “source close to the legal team”.
Antonio Cluny, President of the Public Prosecution Service, says: “Without the little girl’s body, everything is complicated… In the Maddy case, there is no confession and, according to what has been made public, the evidence gathered up until now keeps all leads open – from abduction to homicide or at least to a simple accident”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “EXCLUSIVE: Eyewitness reveals Maddie’s mother DID shout: ‘They’ve taken her’ after four-year-old vanished. WHAT KATE DID SCREAM.”
Nanny Charlotte Pennington is in Praia da Luz. She hears Kate McCann scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!” The McCanns say Kate screamed “Madeleine’s gone”.
Sensation. Front-page news.
Page 4: “Nanny Pennington, who worked at the Ocean Club, is pictured. She’s wearing a brown beret and a pink coat. Her tights are black. Her legs are crossed.
“I was in the apartment less than five minutes after they found that Madeleine had gone. When we were coming out we saw Kate and she was screaming: ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’… It might not have been the first thing she said. But she definitely said it.”
So…
“She also repeated Madeleine’s name and said: ‘She’s gone, she’s gone.’”
Anyone hear anything else?
THE SUN page 24: “MADDIE LAW CHIEF: NO BODY, NO CASE.” Antonio Clunes says: “There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without a victim – but there were confessions.”
But the McCanns are innocent, says a source. And they are not confessing. They are talking through their spokesperson.
DAILY STAR front page: “COPS CLOSE IN ON MADDIE. Final pieces of tragic jigsaw falling into place.”
Pages 4 and 5: “FIND THE BODY OR THEY WALK. Law bosses tell Portuguese cops to step up hunt.”
“TWINS’ HOUSE OF LOVE” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns have built a “house of love” for their family. Mr Mitchell says the McCanns are living “every parent’s worst nightmare times ten”. Mr Mitchell used to work for the tabloid press.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 13: “Case against McCanns ‘rests on finding body’.”
Clarence Mitchell says: “They did not harm, let alone kill her.”
THE TIMES page 11: “No body, no conviction says McCann police.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine news.

Well I’m off to bed but I put money on reports later today about why the photo is so ludicrously hazy, why it wasn’t published for nearly a month and why the McCanns haven’t hot-footed it to Morocco. Mark my words. The only interesting developments in the media coverage of this case are those reported (Moriarty et al) or speculated (the rest of us) by Team Anorak. Sleep tight all.

Main problem here is that this happened in Portugal.
Plus as a general rule private prosecutions are very expensive and fraught with difficulty.
I am looking into whether they should be prosecuted in this country for child neglect under Children and Young Persons Act 1933

Ok krissie. Seriousl for a moment.
There are a significant number of people on here who beleive (or take a position apparing to beleive) that the McCanns are guilty. You are doing most of them a disservice when you accused then in the way you do.
There are a smaller number of us who beleive (or take a position appearing to beleive) that the McCanns are guilty. We take a hell of a beating, to be fair.
Then there are one or two idiots who are not informative. Not interesting or not satirical. They are just idiots.
It’s a bit like life really.
Please calm down a bit. Stop having a pop at the good the bad and the ugly like they are all the same. They aren’t.
Either join our disfunctional family and add a bit of value, or leave us alone in our bad car accident and next time Google tempts you to click in our direction, don’t!

Your answer doesn’t make sense to me. Obviously, they answered about sedatives but the English translation might have the made the interviewer’s question seem milder, asking about giving their children cold medicine to help them sleep.
If the news station was trying to trip them up, wouldn’t the questions have been switched the other way, asking the more innocent question and then translating the more serious one in the editing process?
Perhaps I’m just tired but I don’t see exactly what you mean, although I know that some news programs do the type of double taping you’re referring to.
Regardless of the editing process, Mr. McCann is answering a question by stating they did not sedate their children and looking terribly dishonest in the process. It seems to many that the true answer would have been the affirmative.

brandon:
It’s Oldfield who’s facing a medical negligence case at the same hospital as Gerry.
The rate of alien abduction in the states is very high: altogether just under 4 million Americans claim to have been abducted (usually for ‘intimate examination’ and various forms of implant). I haven’t seen a breakdown by age, but that must include, I would have thought, at least a million kids (so why all this fuss about just one???).
On the gypsy thing, I’m surprised not more has been made of this. There is apparently a large gypsy encampment near Praia de Luz. Since gypsises are probably even worse than greasy Portuguese and even towel-heads across the Straits to tabloid editors, they’ve got off pretty lightly so far.

morally wrong ?
to opiniate about 2 self preserving, neglectful, smug, unrepentant puppets?
or morally wrong for a group of people to observe, research and discuss
2 parents who left 3 babies alone with a door unlocked, to go on the piss, to lie, change stories, to use everyone in sight, public fund money and to GO TO FOOKING CHURCH WITH YOUR HEAD HELD HIGH
when your daughte is either dead, by their own accused hands or being raped by a ring of paeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Morally wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is so strange about a Moroccan having blond hair?
http://www.phototc.com/tours/tour.php?tour=76
“The Imperial Kingdom of Morocco has long been one of the world’s most exotic travel destinations…for painters, writers, adventurers, and photographers. To travel there with Rosanne Pennella, the photographer chosen by the Moroccan Tourist Board is a unique opportunity. With its centuries-old layers of Mediterranean civilizations beginning with ancient Greeks traders up to present day rug-weaving, blue eyed, blond haired Berbers.”

(BTW - what was Madeleine supposed to be doing ‘under the couch’ - I think it’s actually a folding bed in the living-room, and must have been quite a squeeze):
REPLY: I don’t think I’ve ever preferred ‘overdose of sedatives’ to a violent assault by either parent on Madeleine, though it is clear to me that Gerry McCann was lying when he denied to the Portuguese TV lady journalist that the family have ever used sedatives on their children.
The calling in of the cadaver dog(s) and its/their reported reaction on entering the apartment suggest that Madeleine died in the apartment.
I also note that blood spots from Madeleine were said to have been found in I think three places:
1) children’s room - on floor under sofa bed
2) children’s room - on window sill
3) children’s room - on curtains.
Unless I am mistaken.
Therefore IF there was a violent assault on Madeleine in the apartment then I think it probably took place in the children’s bedroom.
IF that is correct and she died, I think she was lifted out of the window by one adult male and taken by another. Quite possibly around 8.45pm or around 9.30pm. O’Brien did not arrive at the Tapas bar until nearly 10.00pm (where was he?) and where precisely Gerry McCann was that evening, and when, is anyone’s guess, apart from the 15 minutes with Jeremy Wilkins from about 9.10pm to 9.25pm which seems to be confirmed. We only have the words of Gerry himself and of certain other members of the Tapas 9 to confirm whereabouts Gerry Mccann was that evening.
The invention of an abductor hiding in the childrens’ room and then climbing out of the window with a 3-stone (42-lb) weight when he has just that minute walked in through an open patio door - which is about as ‘ludicrous’ an explanation as you could get - was to cover i.e. provide an explanation for the blood spots (if correctly reported) on the window-sill/curtains.
I accept that what I have written above depends essentially on whether reported blood spots really are there and are Madeleine’s. The reason I think the reports are true is that the McCanns have come up with an incredibly convoluted explanation for their presence there. That surely means that *they themselves* believe that Madeleine’s blood *is* there.
To begin with, of course, they cried ’stitch-up’.
Then they moved on to trying to explain the forensic evidence that the PJ were apparently coming up with

krissie - I don’t share your views but defend your right to free speech. The great thing about this site is that it promotes exactly that. Mods and Admin - ???
September 26th, 2007 at 1:00 am
Sorry, I have to go now… I have to go make DINNER for my children. Beans, to be precise- beans with yellow cheese and tomatoes. Organic of course. But obviously I am simply making that up– didn’t someone refer to the evidence against the McCanns amounting to a HILL OF BEANS a while back? Hmm.

We can both go to bed now.

The note from the administrator said I was deleted because , and I quote, I wasn’t “pro or anti” McCann, I was just “Causing Trouble” — as if daring to say we must reserve judgment is causing trouble. Please. This explains why this site is so disgustingly anti-McCann — the administration is in on it!! Conspiracy!!

Spindoctor, please!! You are hilarious! You take one sham piece of evidence (coincidence, in this case- your mention of ginger hair) and convict me! It is apparent this attitude carries over to other aspects of your life. I feel sorry for your wife, if you have one.
My mother in law, my childrens’ grandmother, has been making cookies for my kids since approximately 11 years before you made any mention of GINGER hair. In fact, for the record, she uses real true GRATED GINGER ROOT, not just ginger powder. They are delicious. My daughter, who is Madeleine’s age, does not really like them if they are “too spicey”.
BUt what in the WORLD does any of it have to do with Madeleine? I must have missed that. No , we were just extrapolating… somehow because my kids went to grandma’s, and I “made up” ginger cookies, I’m wrong about Madeleine’s parents not necessarily being guilty? Now I see how we can extrapolate rumors and innuendo from tabloid papers into “Parents must have murdered daughter.” This gives me great insight into the minds of people who believe the McCanns are guilty.
Myself, even if the admins don’t like it, I shall reserve judgment until we have all the facts. If you were wise, you would, too. It’s simply morally wrong what people online are doing to this family.

I think you’ve missed the point entirely, Krissie. Your posts were deleted because you were rudely attacking others here.

Ok Before I answer your question.
1) I beleive Gerry was lying, which I have said before.
2) I expect you will shoot me down in flames.
3) I am not and never have been pro McCann.

QUOTE: “1121 - Tony, check the video again. That is not what was asked and the film was cut differently to the way the McCanns expected it to be…” UNQUOTE
REPLY: Very interesting, and highly illuminating, Simon.
Could you please therefore tell us:
1. What exactly was the question that was asked?
A. The exact quesion asked was ‘in that evening, did you give to your kids something like Calpol to help them sleep?
2. How do you know it was ‘cut differently’ to the way the McCanns ‘expected it to be cut’? You obviously have a first-hand source of information to be able to make that statement on this Forum. What is your source, please?
A I do not have first hand information. You are making assumptions. The fact is that Calpol is not a sedative. It contains paracetamol and some people beleive it has a sedating effect. It is not however a sedative. If an ordinary bloke like me with two little kids knows that, two doctors certainly would. They would not have responded to a question about Calpol by saying they did not give their children sedative drugs.
3. How did the McCanns ‘expect it to be cut’?
A Honestly, to reflect the exact interview.
4. How was it cut?
A Differently. Interviews like this have a single camera. First the McCanns were filmed listening to and responding to the questions. Then afterwards, the camera was turned to the interviewer who repeated the questions (or any other questions she wanted to ask) The film was then edited together.
Elsewhere, the McCann’s family have said that the kids were given Calpol, as many kids are. It’s quite usual.
So if they did use Calpol, which they surely did, why would they answer a question about Calpol by saying they didn’t sedate their kids.
Whilst being scrutinised by the world.
It doesn’t stop Gerry being a liar. It doesn’t change anything. But the film was cut differently to the way it was expected to be cut.

What? I was deleted because I wasn’t “pro or anti” ??? So in other words if, god forbid, I have RESERVED JUDGMENT on the McCann situation since there is NO EVIDENCE either way, I”m useless? Egads. What is the world coming to.
This really just proves my point… the moderators/administrators of this site just want us all to pass judgment first, and look at the evidence later!

Tony (crooner) 1163 - as I said.
Could those who believe the Mcanns might be hiding something bring a private prosecution? Or do we need Seymour to advise on that?
September 26th, 2007 at 12:40 am
What I want to know is why take a photo if you think its Madeleine?
Why not go close up, check the girls eyeball for the unique characteristic, and detain/apprehend the adult? (and claim the £2million at the same time!)
Or if you cant do the above, follow them to see where they go and take her and summon the police.

You introduced the link between emotions and anger with being accused of killing thier daughter, not me.
