Madeleine McCann: A House Of Love, Find the Body & What Kate McCann Screamed
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘FIND BODY OR McCANNS WILL ESCAPE’ – Prosecutors ultimatum to Portuguese police.”
The case against Kate and Gerry McCanns is “hanging by a thread”.
A police sources says: “There is a determination within the force to bring this investigation to a satisfactory conclusion but there is a growing fear that without a body, that goal will be impossible.”
Pages 4 and 5: “Our reputation is tarnished forever” – Each day the McCanns prepare themselves for the “worst case scenario”. No, not that they will be wrongly convicted, rather they will learn of Madeleine’s death.
Clarence Mitchell says: “In the middle of this people forget this is still a family who are potentially facing bereavement but are still in that awful limbo position of not knowing what has happened to their daughter.” Thankfully Mr Mitchell is on hand to remind people of this every day.
“Doubts on the McCanns by a lie detector expert” – THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER asks John Ryan, of International Truth Verification Technologies Institute, to listen to Kate McCann’s voice. Says she: “However I think there is some sort of deception when I hear the lady speaking, either over the event or in avoiding showing her true feelings”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE – find a body or there is no case.”
Page 5: “Gerry and Kate have often talked about the possibility of Madeleine being found dead. That would be the worst news but it would at least give them some..CLOSURE”. So says a “source close to the legal team”.
Antonio Cluny, President of the Public Prosecution Service, says: “Without the little girl’s body, everything is complicated… In the Maddy case, there is no confession and, according to what has been made public, the evidence gathered up until now keeps all leads open – from abduction to homicide or at least to a simple accident”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “EXCLUSIVE: Eyewitness reveals Maddie’s mother DID shout: ‘They’ve taken her’ after four-year-old vanished. WHAT KATE DID SCREAM.”
Nanny Charlotte Pennington is in Praia da Luz. She hears Kate McCann scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!” The McCanns say Kate screamed “Madeleine’s gone”.
Sensation. Front-page news.
Page 4: “Nanny Pennington, who worked at the Ocean Club, is pictured. She’s wearing a brown beret and a pink coat. Her tights are black. Her legs are crossed.
“I was in the apartment less than five minutes after they found that Madeleine had gone. When we were coming out we saw Kate and she was screaming: ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’… It might not have been the first thing she said. But she definitely said it.”
So…
“She also repeated Madeleine’s name and said: ‘She’s gone, she’s gone.’”
Anyone hear anything else?
THE SUN page 24: “MADDIE LAW CHIEF: NO BODY, NO CASE.” Antonio Clunes says: “There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without a victim – but there were confessions.”
But the McCanns are innocent, says a source. And they are not confessing. They are talking through their spokesperson.
DAILY STAR front page: “COPS CLOSE IN ON MADDIE. Final pieces of tragic jigsaw falling into place.”
Pages 4 and 5: “FIND THE BODY OR THEY WALK. Law bosses tell Portuguese cops to step up hunt.”
“TWINS’ HOUSE OF LOVE” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns have built a “house of love” for their family. Mr Mitchell says the McCanns are living “every parent’s worst nightmare times ten”. Mr Mitchell used to work for the tabloid press.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 13: “Case against McCanns ‘rests on finding body’.”
Clarence Mitchell says: “They did not harm, let alone kill her.”
THE TIMES page 11: “No body, no conviction says McCann police.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine news.

270 - cheers John.
Is it me or does Kate look like she’s growing a moustache in the photo on that link?
September 25th, 2007 at 1:46 pm
And can you make a list of the missing anti-McCann posters today? Firestar, Bulldump, Moriarty etc etc etc.
I would imagine there are many from both sides who actually work. Unlike Students at Uni apparently!

Malou - I think that the time 22.40 is when the Portuguese police is stating that Madeleine’s disappearance was reported to them.

262 et al.
Well thank you folks - yet again the folks with the little nuts and bolts are clearly rattled - as always shown by their penchant to resort to personal insult when they are stumped. Was going to have a look at the drainage in the lower field but I think I’ll stay another few minutes… Things could hot up…
September 25th, 2007 at 1:44 pm
incidently - is there any info anywhere on whether madeleine was produced from mrs mcc or an egg donor? perhaps if the child wasn’t hers biologically - and she didn’t bond at the birth - things went out of control. nature knows which folk should not get pregnant - it is humans who interfere in that process.

254. Moderation.
So you’re saying that the timeline as presented by the McCanns and their friends could be out? How far out given that they have by there own admission only the 1 and a half hours between 8.30 (The time the McCanns say they sat down) and 10 (Mrs McCann discovering Madeleine missing, ignoring for now the time put forward by the nanny.)?

For weeks and weeks, Gerry saw the three children asleep at 09.30 pm.
In the official story they told the police, Kate missed Madeleine at 10.40 pm(see Policia Judiciaria publication “pessoas desaparecidas”) .
15 minutes before Gerry saw the three children asleep in their bedroom, Jane saw the abductor running with the child.
It seems that Einstein explained about time, a very complicated theory, there is no future, there is no past?Who could explain this to me and to the Polícia Judiciaria? Through Einstein they can show they are all innocent.

what is all this crap about maddie and madeliene. I would just like to put this crap to sleep once and for all. Gerry himself refers to madeleine as MADDIE and that is a fact. So bloody shut up about it………..

I don’t get the British papers out here. Who’s nanny is the story referring to?
September 25th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
How come all these male names appear on this site - like Garth/Peter/Iain/Larry/Michael etc. make one or two pro-McCann posts and then leave? Are they all the one person? What’s the fun in not arguing it out?
At the moment anything could be true.

yep the nanny is an interesting development. Who stands to gain from her popping up (or should that be popping out?) at this crucial moment? It doesn’t appear to be Team McCannoSet - although it could be a double bluff or just another reason for not expecting the Spanish Inquisition. So has she been conjured up by the PJ - not saying that she’s a plant but rather she’s and example of items they have kept up their sleeve all along. Unlike the McCannoSetters who mouth off every time one of them breaks wind… (or is it one and the same anyway?).
So my money’s on the PJ and this is designed to rattle the McCannoSet and see if they have been tightening up those little nuts and bolts properly…

ARSE?
September 25th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
Remember how with the Soham case that everyone except Huntley was on the same page in their stories and alibis? Remember how everyone was on the same page with the Yorkshire Ripper and apart from Geordie “Jack”, there was a genuine, concerted effort to find the killer?
There are too many liars involved with this McCann case for it to have any credibility.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
Peter 353. You took the post right out of my mouth…….!
Caroline, unless you’re of the ‘hang em’ mindset, Ade loves to suggest you’re paid by the McCanns. Like anyone takes any notice……….
September 25th, 2007 at 1:34 pm
So, apart from the nanny early this morning has anything else happened? To do with this case before I hear of people’s trips to the loo etc. (I’m thinking of a name beginning with A and ending in E
)

”Diet Coke”. You can get high and watch the calories? Wonder if K is on it?
September 25th, 2007 at 1:32 pm
And so nononethere departs answering er, none of my valid points. But then the pro McCanns are very selective when it comes to which posts they choose to address.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:32 pm
so ade, you think its right then that madeleine’s life should be put in further danger with the news that Controlled Risk are to be actively involved, even though they,CR, won’t publically admit it themselves.?

It’s not only odd to stand talking for a full 15 minutes but also it’s highly unlikely. Most people err when asked to estimate time.
It’s also incredibly barmy to go out socialising, knowing you’ve left kids alone in a room and then getting up and down like a stupid yo-yo because you’re a caring parent who has to go check on the kids.
Gerry said it was like being in the back garden at home. So, does he get up and down every half hour at home? No, of course not.
If Gerry stood talking for 15 minutes, I’m sure we’d have read that already from the guy he was talking to. Trouble is, we haven’t…because he didn’t!
September 25th, 2007 at 1:30 pm
I am just still annoyed that the were both arrogant to believe that because they lost poor madeleine, they have suffered enough for their small mistake.
Which sows the seeds of doubt……………..
September 25th, 2007 at 1:30 pm
the other night I went out for a meal, there were 11 of us there. I couldn’t have told an inquiry at what time anyone went to the loo / the bar / outside for a cigarette / make a phone call. I know what time we got there because it was pre-arranged and that’s about it. And I was on the diet coke!
Think about it.
Also I would guess there’ll be a lot more MW staff interviews now that the season is at an end and they’ll nearly all be at the end of their summer employment. End of the month for some and at the end of half term for the others.

Fair point. Fewer and fewer using Anorak.
So is Ade the cleverest ruse of all on the pro-McCanns side? (Make the McCanns-are-killers view look SO pathetic, and nasty, that nobody with a brain cell or an ounce of decency would accept it?)

Just tried to call Father Larry Duff but I think his mobile is switched off… Mrs Doyle thinks she saw a priest getting a lift from two gentlemen to go on holiday in Hereford…
September 25th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
ade I detect sarcasm when you say “so ON message”. I was just making an heart felt point thats all.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
This is the last thing I am saying this morning.
If the McCanns are innocent they would have been better to answer the questions put forth by the Portugal police than to spend time posing with the twins for pictures at pre-school. Think about it!
