Madeleine McCann: A House Of Love, Find the Body & What Kate McCann Screamed
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘FIND BODY OR McCANNS WILL ESCAPE’ – Prosecutors ultimatum to Portuguese police.”
The case against Kate and Gerry McCanns is “hanging by a thread”.
A police sources says: “There is a determination within the force to bring this investigation to a satisfactory conclusion but there is a growing fear that without a body, that goal will be impossible.”
Pages 4 and 5: “Our reputation is tarnished forever” – Each day the McCanns prepare themselves for the “worst case scenario”. No, not that they will be wrongly convicted, rather they will learn of Madeleine’s death.
Clarence Mitchell says: “In the middle of this people forget this is still a family who are potentially facing bereavement but are still in that awful limbo position of not knowing what has happened to their daughter.” Thankfully Mr Mitchell is on hand to remind people of this every day.
“Doubts on the McCanns by a lie detector expert” – THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER asks John Ryan, of International Truth Verification Technologies Institute, to listen to Kate McCann’s voice. Says she: “However I think there is some sort of deception when I hear the lady speaking, either over the event or in avoiding showing her true feelings”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE – find a body or there is no case.”
Page 5: “Gerry and Kate have often talked about the possibility of Madeleine being found dead. That would be the worst news but it would at least give them some..CLOSURE”. So says a “source close to the legal team”.
Antonio Cluny, President of the Public Prosecution Service, says: “Without the little girl’s body, everything is complicated… In the Maddy case, there is no confession and, according to what has been made public, the evidence gathered up until now keeps all leads open – from abduction to homicide or at least to a simple accident”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “EXCLUSIVE: Eyewitness reveals Maddie’s mother DID shout: ‘They’ve taken her’ after four-year-old vanished. WHAT KATE DID SCREAM.”
Nanny Charlotte Pennington is in Praia da Luz. She hears Kate McCann scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!” The McCanns say Kate screamed “Madeleine’s gone”.
Sensation. Front-page news.
Page 4: “Nanny Pennington, who worked at the Ocean Club, is pictured. She’s wearing a brown beret and a pink coat. Her tights are black. Her legs are crossed.
“I was in the apartment less than five minutes after they found that Madeleine had gone. When we were coming out we saw Kate and she was screaming: ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’… It might not have been the first thing she said. But she definitely said it.”
So…
“She also repeated Madeleine’s name and said: ‘She’s gone, she’s gone.’”
Anyone hear anything else?
THE SUN page 24: “MADDIE LAW CHIEF: NO BODY, NO CASE.” Antonio Clunes says: “There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without a victim – but there were confessions.”
But the McCanns are innocent, says a source. And they are not confessing. They are talking through their spokesperson.
DAILY STAR front page: “COPS CLOSE IN ON MADDIE. Final pieces of tragic jigsaw falling into place.”
Pages 4 and 5: “FIND THE BODY OR THEY WALK. Law bosses tell Portuguese cops to step up hunt.”
“TWINS’ HOUSE OF LOVE” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns have built a “house of love” for their family. Mr Mitchell says the McCanns are living “every parent’s worst nightmare times ten”. Mr Mitchell used to work for the tabloid press.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 13: “Case against McCanns ‘rests on finding body’.”
Clarence Mitchell says: “They did not harm, let alone kill her.”
THE TIMES page 11: “No body, no conviction says McCann police.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine news.

I remember a while back people posting that Mr. McCann said “maybe Madeleine is in a better place” and I am asking if any of you also read that he made that statement?

GERRY AND Kate McCann live in fear that the next phone call will tell them their daughter is dead, their spokesman said today (Monday). from the Portugal Resident web-site.
This revelation is an abrupt change in the PR game they have been playing.
Is it because the police are researching the original sites that were searched early on, in the first three weeks?
Developing…

Forget disorganised searches in bars, cafes, hotel lobbies and other tourist traps.
The search needs to be systematic.
All head -teachers should be asked to report any and all suspicious enrollments at 4+ -but beware, the name could have been changed e.g. it is unlikely that the name McCann will be used - it could be, if, for illustrative purposes it is assumed that she has been abducted by the Swiss Faimily Robinson, Maddie Robinson, or perhaps Swiss Maddie

Well a source close to the MOD said the first choice was Auntie Philly but all the SAS lads ran off and hid in the mountains. Bugger of a job to find them and tell ‘em Auntie P was too busy anyway. That’s why it’s taken 4 months…

625 - Carmen. Our particular Irish speciality is the ‘moving statue’. We are also very nifty at producing those which cry. Damn all help in this case. But you never know.

What do the McCanns mean in this story when they say the seats were ripped out of the car when they moved house?

Any ideas?

Moderation,
I think the UK investigators be able to clear up the matter whether they believe Madeleine is alive or not. There is no point taking up police time searching for a child that is dead. My guess is the UK went there with the dogs so they know how much work they need to be doing searching for Madeleine. Also, something appears fishy about the dna results. There should be quite a lot determined by the dna, my guess.
If the parents don’t know what happened they would still at least consider the dog study and try to figure how there might have been a death otherwise? I suppose that the scent was also detected in the vehicle makes that approach difficult.
At this point I am curious how many people have been affected in a negative manner, including Madeleine, by the decisions made by Mr. and Mrs. McCann? Possibly many!!!!!!!
Do I think that the McCanns care? NO.
Moderation, if you are interested I will tell you my final thought involving the parents know something theory?

And can someone explain renewed interest in the Norwegian tourist? Is she heading up their ex-SAS team?
Baffled, confused, and still Puzzled.

With all the public sightings of Madeleine don’t people think that would be too risky given that there’s a huge reward on offer? Also remember that Austrian bloke who kidnapped that girl over there and kept her until she escaped last year aged 18. IF Madeleine has been kidnapped and is still alive it’s highly unlikely she’d be out in public.

Just read the police are collecting evidence against the Tapas 9…Sniffer dogs picked up the smell of death on some of their clothes.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
It would be nice to see Brown get as involved in Burma as he has done in Iraq and with the McCanns. Of course it won’t happen because he’s a cowardly popularity whoring media driven little shit.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:38 pm
At one point last week the PJ were going to look at another apartment. Does anyone know if this happened and if so any findings leaked? Also there was talk about digging around the church and the streets that were under construction. Is this happening?
September 25th, 2007 at 5:38 pm
607 - Carmen. I too was stuffing something into the oven for the last while and am now totally at sea. Think M has been spotted wearing a Burka in Roswell.

I’ve never attributed anything to the “they’ve taken her” comment made by Kate. People in the northwest of England say “thuh’ve” in normal daily conversation and Kate is scouse so it’s nothing to write home about. As someone else in here said a few days ago, it’s no different from someone saying “they’ve blocked off the High Street…” meaning nothing more than some anonymous person with the use of the word “they’ve”.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
Bulldump, do you carefully save your posts that you think are funny? you’ve posted that one several times. (610)
Still not funny of course…….
September 25th, 2007 at 5:35 pm
Evening cynics!
Still spurting the usual crap. Mindyou, its good to have a laugh after a hard days graft.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
bulldump,
Your news is about as informing as Clarence’s anyway.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
Patricia, 600 I don’t think so. I think the whole case is at stalemate and until someone tries a bit of lateral thinking for a change nowt is going to happen.
I think her body will be found eventually and I also think her image will appear on an internet site but that is IMO of course.
In a way maybe I hope it was her parents because then it would have been over with very quickly.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
i think you have over estimated gerrys height at 4′3, the shoes he was wearing are designer shoes and were made by hobble and half-witt. I have called them and they have said they do not usually divulge customers details, but they would make an exception for that whinning petit merde(little shit). They have said that the shoe was built up at the heel by no less than 3cm, which would make him arround 4′1. so I hope I have cleared that matter up!
they also said that mimikin mccann super-glues inner-soles directly on to the sole of his foot, sometimes as many as 4 at a time, which i guess would boost his height a little further, but needless to say with all of these devices in place he does still stand at a midgetly 4′2
September 25th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
Ade,
I don’t know.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:32 pm
Yeah right, al of a sudden there are sighting of Burka Madeleine.
I wonder how much the McKillers paid that Norvegian tourist who turned out to be married to a Brit living just 7 miles from those two.
LUDICROUS!
September 25th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
I am beginning to think we have all followed the case to the end?
