Madeleine McCann: A House Of Love, Find the Body & What Kate McCann Screamed
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘FIND BODY OR McCANNS WILL ESCAPE’ – Prosecutors ultimatum to Portuguese police.”
The case against Kate and Gerry McCanns is “hanging by a thread”.
A police sources says: “There is a determination within the force to bring this investigation to a satisfactory conclusion but there is a growing fear that without a body, that goal will be impossible.”
Pages 4 and 5: “Our reputation is tarnished forever” – Each day the McCanns prepare themselves for the “worst case scenario”. No, not that they will be wrongly convicted, rather they will learn of Madeleine’s death.
Clarence Mitchell says: “In the middle of this people forget this is still a family who are potentially facing bereavement but are still in that awful limbo position of not knowing what has happened to their daughter.” Thankfully Mr Mitchell is on hand to remind people of this every day.
“Doubts on the McCanns by a lie detector expert” – THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER asks John Ryan, of International Truth Verification Technologies Institute, to listen to Kate McCann’s voice. Says she: “However I think there is some sort of deception when I hear the lady speaking, either over the event or in avoiding showing her true feelings”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE – find a body or there is no case.”
Page 5: “Gerry and Kate have often talked about the possibility of Madeleine being found dead. That would be the worst news but it would at least give them some..CLOSURE”. So says a “source close to the legal team”.
Antonio Cluny, President of the Public Prosecution Service, says: “Without the little girl’s body, everything is complicated… In the Maddy case, there is no confession and, according to what has been made public, the evidence gathered up until now keeps all leads open – from abduction to homicide or at least to a simple accident”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “EXCLUSIVE: Eyewitness reveals Maddie’s mother DID shout: ‘They’ve taken her’ after four-year-old vanished. WHAT KATE DID SCREAM.”
Nanny Charlotte Pennington is in Praia da Luz. She hears Kate McCann scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!” The McCanns say Kate screamed “Madeleine’s gone”.
Sensation. Front-page news.
Page 4: “Nanny Pennington, who worked at the Ocean Club, is pictured. She’s wearing a brown beret and a pink coat. Her tights are black. Her legs are crossed.
“I was in the apartment less than five minutes after they found that Madeleine had gone. When we were coming out we saw Kate and she was screaming: ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’… It might not have been the first thing she said. But she definitely said it.”
So…
“She also repeated Madeleine’s name and said: ‘She’s gone, she’s gone.’”
Anyone hear anything else?
THE SUN page 24: “MADDIE LAW CHIEF: NO BODY, NO CASE.” Antonio Clunes says: “There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without a victim – but there were confessions.”
But the McCanns are innocent, says a source. And they are not confessing. They are talking through their spokesperson.
DAILY STAR front page: “COPS CLOSE IN ON MADDIE. Final pieces of tragic jigsaw falling into place.”
Pages 4 and 5: “FIND THE BODY OR THEY WALK. Law bosses tell Portuguese cops to step up hunt.”
“TWINS’ HOUSE OF LOVE” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns have built a “house of love” for their family. Mr Mitchell says the McCanns are living “every parent’s worst nightmare times ten”. Mr Mitchell used to work for the tabloid press.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 13: “Case against McCanns ‘rests on finding body’.”
Clarence Mitchell says: “They did not harm, let alone kill her.”
THE TIMES page 11: “No body, no conviction says McCann police.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine news.

From the Mark Warner website re. Ocean Club: http://www.markwarner.co.uk/sun/portugal/ocean-club?date=29%2f9%2f2007#item3
“Award-winning childcare
The Ocean Club offers a unique ‘dine out’ service. Simply get your little ones ready for bed and drop them off at our kids club. We’ll watch over them whilst you go out and enjoy yourselves and you can pick them up on your way home.”
Doesn’t that sound inviting to parents? Why, oh why, wouldn’t parents who accessed other child-friendly supervised activities provided by the resort take advantage of this sensible offer and allow themselves an evening of uninterrupted conversation, drinking, and entertainment? It just doesn’t make sense.

(709) Momo.
No, she isn’t saying that. She’s in Portugal. She says it’s done all over Portugal. The same as I say it’s done all over Spain (except Sundays here).

716 - You certainly ARE rich today!! What a turn around job - well done Ireland!
Today I am working for my former Nanny - the tables have turned, I’ll say
September 25th, 2007 at 6:56 pm
I think I will it where I came in.
That is with the observation that Kate McCann, or Hot Lips Healey as the gutter press now inform us she was known as in the Student Union Bar on Friday nights, is an extremely attractive woman.
It is so unfair that this grief has been visited upon her - no good can come out of it
I am signing out

no worries… I thought of correcting it but if you put lies (applies) in a post too much it distracts the people working on their McCanno sets…
Good year for apples - and the blackberries went on strong till a few days ago.

718 m.e.
Kate (or Gerry) have never shown anywhere near the amounts of grief shown by someone who has lost a child. On the contrary, they talk about Madeleine as if she’s a commodity rather than their own flesh and blood.
In one interview Gerry says “you can’t grieve…” then he hesitates and realises his mistake and says “well we have grieved…”
To jog on the beach on May 4 the day after you lose a child is unbelievable and deflates any thoughts that the parents were genuinely beside themselves with grief.
I can count on one hand the number of emotions shown by anyone McCann. The grandparents blubbed on Madeleine’s birthday and Gerry’s voice faltered when he landed at EMA after they left Portugal. Sorry…I said can count on one hand. I meant to say two fingers.

614 - What about the one where he says (about 10x already)
“Bring on the guillotine and don’t sharpen the blade”. I think he’s checking to see if anyone’s paying him any mind. Hard to do so when the comments are usually mindless.
664 - Very funny, I missed some of these, gosh darn it. LOL! But I’d like to buy a copy of your book and have you sign it for me. I’m wondering how Christoph was planning on punching you in the mouth? Is that a virtual punch or a literal punch? LOL! I mean, he doesn’t even know where to find you!!! So that’s just plain ol’ ridiculous.
Anyway I applaud you for keeping tabs on the everyone’s defamatory attacks and posts against you - that must be one thick mother of a file you’ve got in your drawers there. - hey, we could call you the “Tabmeister” - keeping tabs on the same people who are keeping tabs on the tabloids
You go girlfriend - errrm - You go boyfriend! (Sorry, which is it again??)

September 25th, 2007 at 6:46 pm
The problem with stigs very articulate argument is that it is full of (assumed) holes. how the hell anyone can say that they’ve never seen such grief from someone (Kate) in those first couple of days is an astonishing thing to say. Its no good having an argument that can be both respected in parts and laughed at in others. You might convince yourself but jeeeeeez. Did we not all see Rhys Jones’ mother. That was grief Stig. Are you blind?

The last 2 paras say it all. I’t’s 100% their fault and they want to blame everybody else. Ithey just admit they ar wrong that would change everything. they just cannot do it because they are that pig-headed and arrogant. End of story.

ade, “these people are arrogant doctors who think nothing apples to them”
nothing apples to them, what does that mean?
September 25th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
Oh well, Stefanie didn’t come on today.
I will leave Winky Dink a message that I have the book and I will start reading on the way out of town later.
Now that I am a little richer it is time to get back to play and work.
Being curious I am likely to follow this to the end. Judging from what appears to be likely I question how much time to devote. I read a few days ago that the McCanns plan to have billboards. Just in case that sounds like a good idea. If, in theory, they know what happened to Madeleine maybe they will pass on and remember where she is. That is my best hope for the day.

From Algarve’s official website:
“SECURITY
Theft from cars, locked or otherwise, is depressingly common. When driving you need your licence and other documents, but don’t leave them in the car when parked. Be every bit as security conscious in villas and apartments as you would be at home. When you go out, be sure to lock up.”

Too bad the McCanns didn’t read this before May 3.

Just saw this report McCann’s Hiring detectives or not…?
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/itn/20070925/tuk-mccanns-deny-hiring-private-detectiv-dba1618_1.html
Kate and Gerry McCann have publicly denied sending private detectives into Portugual to investigate Madeleine’s disappearance.
The denial comes after the couple were said to have hired specialists to continue the search for their daughter as long as four months ago amid fears that the Portuguese police had already begun to assume she was dead.
But police in Portugal pointed out that hiring private investigators for use in criminal cases is illegal in their country.
Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ official spokesman, insisted there were no private detectives working for them inside Portugal itself.
He said: “Gerry and Kate McCann wish to make it clear that no work being done on their behalf to help find Madeleine is being done other than within the law.
“As a matter of fact no private investigators have been commissioned to work within Portuguese jurisdiction.”

What you say is that every country in Europe collects the garbage any day exept on saturday. No they don’t, believe me. That doesn’t mean I go to garbage dumps on my holiday though.

I found this interesting blog entry (and the comments following) from 2005 about the problem with littering in Portugal. One comment mentions a lot of litter in Algarve.

690 - Stig
I like your analysis but I still don’t agree with the Kate being a wreck in those first few days. Remember, she went jogging on May 4 and there were ample photos of the pair of them jogging on the beach. To go from inconsolable to doing your daily jogging while on holiday routine doesn’t make sense. We have very little evidence of what she was like on that night. The new nanny story today mentions it but really how many stories have we had that give details of the first night? Not much at all.
I agree that Gerry plays with his kids and seems to be the doting dad. But he’s not on the bus is he? He’s quite distant on there and the cameraman says “cheer up Gerry” as if Gerry is fed up about something.
The public face of people interacting with their kids often belies a different story behind closed doors. The sheer number of abusive parents out there would be staggering if it were really known. But, their kids go to school and say nothing because they’re afraid to. Those type of parents don’t advertise the fact by continually hitting on their children in public either. The true abusive parents are ones that you’d never notice. Ones that do it stealthily. Before you leap on me and say I’m insinuating Kate and Gerry are abusive parents, I’m not saying that. I’m saying that what goes on behind closed doors in any family is often completely different to what you see in public.
I don’t believe in the abduction theory but I don’t think there was some kind of sinister sedation gone wrong either. I’m more of the opinion that Madeleine could have wandered out the door and simply fell down those hard stairs and cracked her head - probably enough to cause delayed death. After that I have no idea.
If the McCanns were honest and upfront, they’d have more supporters and this whole story wouldn’t have turned from the early days. They’ve only themselves to blame for that.

jolie, a little girl is missing possibly murdered by her parents and you are discussing rubbish collection!!!!!!!

Re nanny;
I think, 593, the problems is which hairs are you splitting. Are these the words spoken by Nanny or are they the edited words. It may well be the latter. It may not be verbatim.

I think if they’ve got suspicion but not enough proof then they were obviously too late to the party for evidence gathering. If I were them I would declare the McCanns innocent, wait a while and bug their asses to high heaven (including friends).
———————————–
Something tells me that the Doctors McCanns will not be reverting to the status quo ante for quite some time (even if, which I am not alleging or inviting any one to believe, it did involve some risque practices): the PJ could have some depressingly cold and lonely evenings in Rothely awaiting for the arrival, of the likes of the local chapter of swingers R US.

Having been at Mark Warner albeit with 10-14 year olds they can, if they want to, sit together at one long table on the patio. (different club but probably same principles).
If the same happens for the youngest children then then maybe the nannys just look after their section of the table (key worker system).
