Madeleine McCann: A House Of Love, Find the Body & What Kate McCann Screamed
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. ‘FIND BODY OR McCANNS WILL ESCAPE’ – Prosecutors ultimatum to Portuguese police.”
The case against Kate and Gerry McCanns is “hanging by a thread”.
A police sources says: “There is a determination within the force to bring this investigation to a satisfactory conclusion but there is a growing fear that without a body, that goal will be impossible.”
Pages 4 and 5: “Our reputation is tarnished forever” – Each day the McCanns prepare themselves for the “worst case scenario”. No, not that they will be wrongly convicted, rather they will learn of Madeleine’s death.
Clarence Mitchell says: “In the middle of this people forget this is still a family who are potentially facing bereavement but are still in that awful limbo position of not knowing what has happened to their daughter.” Thankfully Mr Mitchell is on hand to remind people of this every day.
“Doubts on the McCanns by a lie detector expert” – THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER asks John Ryan, of International Truth Verification Technologies Institute, to listen to Kate McCann’s voice. Says she: “However I think there is some sort of deception when I hear the lady speaking, either over the event or in avoiding showing her true feelings”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE – find a body or there is no case.”
Page 5: “Gerry and Kate have often talked about the possibility of Madeleine being found dead. That would be the worst news but it would at least give them some..CLOSURE”. So says a “source close to the legal team”.
Antonio Cluny, President of the Public Prosecution Service, says: “Without the little girl’s body, everything is complicated… In the Maddy case, there is no confession and, according to what has been made public, the evidence gathered up until now keeps all leads open – from abduction to homicide or at least to a simple accident”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “EXCLUSIVE: Eyewitness reveals Maddie’s mother DID shout: ‘They’ve taken her’ after four-year-old vanished. WHAT KATE DID SCREAM.”
Nanny Charlotte Pennington is in Praia da Luz. She hears Kate McCann scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!” The McCanns say Kate screamed “Madeleine’s gone”.
Sensation. Front-page news.
Page 4: “Nanny Pennington, who worked at the Ocean Club, is pictured. She’s wearing a brown beret and a pink coat. Her tights are black. Her legs are crossed.
“I was in the apartment less than five minutes after they found that Madeleine had gone. When we were coming out we saw Kate and she was screaming: ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’… It might not have been the first thing she said. But she definitely said it.”
So…
“She also repeated Madeleine’s name and said: ‘She’s gone, she’s gone.’”
Anyone hear anything else?
THE SUN page 24: “MADDIE LAW CHIEF: NO BODY, NO CASE.” Antonio Clunes says: “There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without a victim – but there were confessions.”
But the McCanns are innocent, says a source. And they are not confessing. They are talking through their spokesperson.
DAILY STAR front page: “COPS CLOSE IN ON MADDIE. Final pieces of tragic jigsaw falling into place.”
Pages 4 and 5: “FIND THE BODY OR THEY WALK. Law bosses tell Portuguese cops to step up hunt.”
“TWINS’ HOUSE OF LOVE” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns have built a “house of love” for their family. Mr Mitchell says the McCanns are living “every parent’s worst nightmare times ten”. Mr Mitchell used to work for the tabloid press.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 13: “Case against McCanns ‘rests on finding body’.”
Clarence Mitchell says: “They did not harm, let alone kill her.”
THE TIMES page 11: “No body, no conviction says McCann police.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT: No Madeleine news.

Does anyone know the context of how the British Police Handbook was found?
Was it bought before May 3rd or after?
Was it found at the first or second apartment or in the British house?
This is crucial info - they may have been trying to find out how the British police operate as oppose to Portugal police in a bid to get information on how bad they are for their lawyers if bought after May 3rd.
If bought before May 3rd ……well…..that would be premediated ….hope they checked all home computers!

Just wondering - does anyone here have a link to the video of the alibi that Mr Murat’s ?uncle gave for him the day he was brought in for questioning. Something seemed strange about the deliverance of this alibi, and I’d like to view it again in view of recent reports.

“To the person who is holding Madeleine this would tell him that it won’t be long before he is found out, which means that the best thing he could do is kill Madeleine and get rid of her.”
Unfortunately I do not think ex-SAS can work any magic that the police couldn’t - if they were doing their job properly that is.
Having Madeline will not increase the risk of being found, if there was a trail to follow they could follow it even if he did do the unthinkable.
However, if they did find him and he had done that, he might soon regret it. Much safer actually to keep her alive.

Moderation…..cannot recall number of your post—- but what do mean ” Changing my name, again” ?
I changed it, once only, So ??????
Nothing to hide…what on earth would I have to hide.???? I am NOT in habit of abusing people on forums.

Stevo - I didn’t comment on the info ….lol - but people do follow patterns and he seems to have a keen interest in hanging around killers!
September 25th, 2007 at 8:13 pm
Stevo… why don’t you give Victim Support a call and ask them what the correct response is to major trauma? I’m sure they’ll send you a brochure, maybe even a DVD that you can study. You know, with all the correct eye and hand movements etc.
Maybe even a tick list for you to work from next time you put the TV on.

(783) Possible. Difficult to tell without knowing the context of the photo. They look as if they’re in the middle of country but, of course, that is not necessarily the case.

I know…Clarence Mitchell learned the tricks of the trade at the Wests’ house.
He’s the real one who shot Jill Dando. He disposed of Milly Dowler, and after feeling invincible, he joins Mr & Mr’s Invincible McCann because he knows nobody will do anything to them.
Yeah right!

780. Chloe - It could be a babysitter for a white family!

How many women abduct children then parade them round the streets as if they are their own child?
Considering the language barrier and the cultural differences, the chances are nil that the girl in that photo is Madeleine.

Clarence Mitchell - McCanns PR
A major figure in several big domestic stories.
He was closely involved with the Fred and Rosemary West case, where a murderous couple had killed young girls and buried the bodies under their patio in Gloucester.
He was one of the first reporters to arrive at Gowan Avenue, Fulham in south west London, when the immensely popular BBC TV presenter Jill Dando was shot dead in a murder many feel has never been satisfactorily explained.
And more recently, in a story he worked on right up to the day he left the BBC, Clarence led coverage of the murder of the Surrey schoolgirl Millie Dowler in 2002. The case has never been solved.
The couple also enlisted Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet’s lawyer.

I don’t think Moroccans are ever blond, even as children. Now, if it were Madeleine, would this apparently rural Moroccan family actually know who they had got with her? Might she not have been palmed off on them when she got too hot to hold?
(Incidentally, I still think she’s dead and that the parents were involved but, even assuming it isn’t Madeleine, I find the photo surprising.)

How many more people are going to jump on this rather fast moving, facinating bandwagon. Ive just read a woman has said she saw a muslim woman with madeline now …

Ok, so you pull me up on a technicality of which day the McCanns went jogging. So what? And you say you went through some trauma that you blocked out - well, with the utmost respect - good for you.
But you know what? I bet you didn’t lose a 3 year old child who was abducted did you?
How many people in here are going to make stupid comparisons or crazy analogies to the McCann’s situation to try and heap praise on them? The facts speak for themselves. Those parents act like robots and are emotionless. That just isn’t possible unless they’re hiding something.
Who would care what the police said if you wanted to come out on TV or shout from the highest hilltop and say “I didn’t do it…I had nothing to do with it…the facts are this….” Who’d give a damn about secrecy laws if you thought that what you had to say would get your kid back? I know I wouldn’t give a toss about the police if I could do ANYTHING to get an abducted child back.
The McCanns think otherwise.
September 25th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
Honestly I would love for it to be Madeleine but I’m still behind the dog’s nose here.
September 25th, 2007 at 7:57 pm
772 - The skin tone is certainly lighter than the other child, but I think the face is too rounded to be Madeleine.
September 25th, 2007 at 7:57 pm
Yes certainly does, doesn’t she? Who had the family of goatherders theory?

Also, I’d find it almost inconceivable for a young boy to be casually walking along with the two adults and all three of them oblivious to the fact that they look so obvious and aren’t concealing the young girl.
Of course it isn’t Madeleine…c’mon!

Whether it’s Madeleine or not…that girl in the photo looks quite content and not under duress or screaming for her negligent parents to have her back.

I found a link to a September 14 article detailing some of the 40 additional questions the PJs wanted to put to Mrs. McCann:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=481705&in_page_id=1811&in_page_id=1811&expand=true
Here is a list of the questions included in the article (the article has explanations for each one):
Did you consider Madeleine hyperactive or badly behaved and did you struggle to control her?
Did you ever lose your temper with the children?
Did you ever slap Madeleine?
Did Madeleine cut herself in the apartment?
Did Madeleine cut herself in another apartment?
Did the car you hired on May 28 contain any of Madeleine’s belongings?
Could Madeleine have bled on something which was later put in the hire car?
How do you explain Madeleine’s blood and other bodily fluid in the hire car?
Why would ‘clumps’ of Madeleine’s hair be in the boot?
Did you sedate Madeleine?
Could medication have been placed within Madeleine’s reach?
Did you have any sleeping pills or medication for depression?
Did you feel your husband was not pulling his weight with child care?
Why did you wash Cuddle Cat?
———–
I’m curious if anyone has found a full list of the 40 questions.

It makes no difference. Whichever one it is the dog sniffed, that person will say they came in contact with half a dozen dead bodies just like Kate did.

Just looking on findmadeleine.com isn’t it interesting that the fund hasn’t had any new money in it for weeks?
It’s been stuck at £1,036,104.17 for ages. Wonder why the generosity of the public has dried up?
September 25th, 2007 at 7:45 pm
Here’s a copy of the picture.
I certainly can’t tell if it’s Maddy (She is on the back of one of the adults).

From times online, Sept 25.:
“A Portuguese newspaper claimed yesterday that British sniffer dogs had searched the British homes of the seven friends who were dining with the McCanns while their daughter was allegedly being abducted.
The unconfirmed report in Jornal de Notícias said that a “cadaver” dog had detected the scent of a corpse on clothing in one of the homes. It was claimed that Portuguese prosecutors are to write to the friends asking them to return for more questioning.”
Any confirmations of this report?
