The case against Kate and Gerry McCanns is “hanging by a thread”.
A police sources says: “There is a determination within the force to bring this investigation to a satisfactory conclusion but there is a growing fear that without a body, that goal will be impossible.”
Pages 4 and 5: “Our reputation is tarnished forever” – Each day the McCanns prepare themselves for the “worst case scenario”. No, not that they will be wrongly convicted, rather they will learn of Madeleine’s death.
Clarence Mitchell says: “In the middle of this people forget this is still a family who are potentially facing bereavement but are still in that awful limbo position of not knowing what has happened to their daughter.” Thankfully Mr Mitchell is on hand to remind people of this every day.
“Doubts on the McCanns by a lie detector expert” – THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER asks John Ryan, of International Truth Verification Technologies Institute, to listen to Kate McCann’s voice. Says she: “However I think there is some sort of deception when I hear the lady speaking, either over the event or in avoiding showing her true feelings”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE – find a body or there is no case.”
Page 5: “Gerry and Kate have often talked about the possibility of Madeleine being found dead. That would be the worst news but it would at least give them some..CLOSURE”. So says a “source close to the legal team”.
Antonio Cluny, President of the Public Prosecution Service, says: “Without the little girl’s body, everything is complicated… In the Maddy case, there is no confession and, according to what has been made public, the evidence gathered up until now keeps all leads open – from abduction to homicide or at least to a simple accident”.
DAILY MAIL front page: “EXCLUSIVE: Eyewitness reveals Maddie’s mother DID shout: ‘They’ve taken her’ after four-year-old vanished. WHAT KATE DID SCREAM.”
Nanny Charlotte Pennington is in Praia da Luz. She hears Kate McCann scream: “They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her!” The McCanns say Kate screamed “Madeleine’s gone”.
Sensation. Front-page news.
Page 4: “Nanny Pennington, who worked at the Ocean Club, is pictured. She’s wearing a brown beret and a pink coat. Her tights are black. Her legs are crossed.
“I was in the apartment less than five minutes after they found that Madeleine had gone. When we were coming out we saw Kate and she was screaming: ‘They’ve taken her, they’ve taken her’… It might not have been the first thing she said. But she definitely said it.”
So…
“She also repeated Madeleine’s name and said: ‘She’s gone, she’s gone.’”
Anyone hear anything else?
THE SUN page 24: “MADDIE LAW CHIEF: NO BODY, NO CASE.” Antonio Clunes says: “There have been cases in which it was possible to obtain a conviction without a victim – but there were confessions.”
But the McCanns are innocent, says a source. And they are not confessing. They are talking through their spokesperson.
DAILY STAR front page: “COPS CLOSE IN ON MADDIE. Final pieces of tragic jigsaw falling into place.”
Pages 4 and 5: “FIND THE BODY OR THEY WALK. Law bosses tell Portuguese cops to step up hunt.”
“TWINS’ HOUSE OF LOVE” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns have built a “house of love” for their family. Mr Mitchell says the McCanns are living “every parent’s worst nightmare times ten”. Mr Mitchell used to work for the tabloid press.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 13: “Case against McCanns ‘rests on finding body’.”
Clarence Mitchell says: “They did not harm, let alone kill her.”

Right…I’m glad I’m not the only one noticing the obvious omissions.
I’m sure the McCanns have video of Madeleine. Where is that? Why aren’t we seeing any of that? It’s a piece of cake to upload video these days. Maybe we could hear Madeleine’s voice on a video and perhaps be able to hear her before seeing her or put the voice and face together and FIND her? Is that too obvious or what?
Why don’t the McCanns want us to see or know more about her? Does Madeleine have behavioural problems that are embarassing for them? Remember Milly Dowler? We saw her on video many times.

~ The police have evidence that Murat told the truth. So the question should be: Why is the nanny not telling the truth?
~ Do we really know for sure that the second version the elderly neighbor told is “more true” than the first? And if the first version is untrue, how do we know that it was the police who made it up? Could be a journalist desperate for a scoop. After all they don’t actually seem to bother checking their stories much on this case…
~ Police may well have beaten Leonor up which is terrible. But we know for a fact they have not beaten KM up. They will never ever get anywhere near framing KM. We also know for a fact that the British police also frequently beat people up…However, I still trust the British police.
~ The police in Portugal could be involved in many things. Then again, so could the British police or any other police force in the world.
By the way, I do not have my mind made up about this case…

We had tracking devices on employees cell phones. As long as they were within range of a digital tower and not inside a large building the placement was very accurate. In buildings and rural areas it got a little iffy at best. BUT just because Murat’s cell phone is at home doesn’t necessarily mean he is.

What about this 3rd Morrocco sighting? Who is releasing these stories? Anyone seriously interested in finding the child alive again (ie. the police, the ex-SAS security team, though maybe NOT the parents) would realise they may be putting the child’s life in danger (or at least sabotaging any rescue attempt) by giving this information out! Non? However, I suppose anyone suspected of killing the child might be interested in putting about stories that she has been seen alive, knowing that such stories cannot harm her.

Makes you wonder, doesn’t it, that there aren’t people on this site reading each and every comment. The website was supposed to be about a missing girl, surely, instead the focus is all on the parents - oh and now twins.

Going back to the photo in Morocco, Madeleine had a fringe when she disappeared. Now the front part of the hair of the girl in the photo could easily be a fringe that is growing out. I honestly don’t suppose for one minute that it’s Madeleine, but it does look like something that should be followed up. She might be one of those children from a mixed-nationality marriage where the marriage has ended and the father has abducted her to his own country, although I must say that the man carrying her doesn’t look likely to have left Morocco in his whole life.

In 815 you misread my earlier post and insinuated that I said the McCanns murdered their daughter. I have never said anything like that in all my posts in this site. The trouble is that people like you don’t read properly and then you say we “made out this or that…” I’m allowed my opinions but don’t put words in my mouth that I never said or hinted at. You also called me ol’ fruit and so I returned the compliment and said the cloud cuckoo land thing because I get angry when people don’t read properly and start making things up.
That’s the whole point about the McCanns - they make things up or their spin doctors make things up. That’s why anti-McCanns like me get so annoyed at them and we feel a gross miscarriage of justice is occurring.

Some have suggested that the fact Murat worked as a police translator should give you a red flag.
It is possible that they picked on him not knowing what he did for a living and the police played along with it knowing that he was being framed.
Is Murat a red herring designed to trap the friends?

I find it amusing that people think someone would go to the trouble of carefully selecting a child, stake it out for days…
…then pick a moment when someone is due to check (like clockwork…lol) and have to hide behind a door - for oh about an hour…
…then travel around the world with her parading her in garages, on CCTV and taking her on parades and day trips.
Get real! - If this child was kidnapped and still alive she will be being used for sexual perversions and hidden in some dark and gloomy place.
Unless you go by the old goatherd man theory - who found her wandering and took her home to his mountain log cabin and renamed her HEIDI…..lol
In reality the most obvious solution is usually the correct one - even if it is boring or painful.
The most obvious solution is that the McCanns have killed their daughter somehow and enlisted the help of some friends to cover it up.
They will all keep silent if their jobs or children are threatened (as would be if sedatives were used by some of the group)
They will all keep silent if they are having sexual swapping practices going on. (And I grew up next door to a wife swapping couple who were respected doctors - that may not be the most obvious reason - but who knows?)

I’m amazed at how many people have absolutely made up their minds about the McCanns. The nanny has no reason to lie and she corroborates what all their friends said about Murat.
Some questions…
~ Murat gave two different accounts of where he was that night and swears he was not at the scene, yet several eyewitnesses put him at the scene. The nanny would NOT have been drinking as she was getting off work and she clearly says that he was there and that she immediately recognized him the next day as the police translator. So, why is he lying?
~ The elderly neighbor who reportedly heard Madeleine crying for hours on end the night of May 2nd has come forward to state that she never said that and she never heard any crying or arguing of any kind. So, who leaked a completely false story to the press?
~ Chief Inspector Goncalo Amaral, who is jointly leading the Madeleine case, is to face a criminal hearing for allegedly concealing evidence that three of his colleagues tortured Leonor Cipriano. Leonor confessed to murdering her daughter Joana who disappeared in 2004, only miles from where Madeleine disappeared, after 48 hours of police interrogation. The day afterward as soon as she saw her lawyer, she recanted her confession and told how the police had beaten her. She was beaten black and blue and the police deny any involvement. If this is not true, why is there a case pending against him?
~ Portuese police in Lisbon were exposed of covering up a child sex trafficking scandal at an orphanage for 20 years. Portugal is the only country in Western Europe to have a less than satisfactory rating with regard to human trafficking and is known as a common destination/departure point for traffickers. Is it that much of a stretch to question whether the police are involved in the case of the McCanns?
Can anyone answer these?
I’m not sure what the exact truth is, but I do know that the psych phenomenon of “selective perception” is very powerful and can make it possible to block out any evidence that doesn’t support your opinion. Just something to keep in mind.
Oh and NO..I’m not with “Team McCann”:)

I know you can’t pinpoint someone to a matter of yards. My cellphone has a GPS built in which is used by the emergency services to pinpoint me if I had to dial 911. It’s my phone that has the capability though - not the towers by themselves. The story that they knew he was at home because of cellphone data makes no sense. It isn’t that accurate even if he had an advanced phone.

825. This witness gave her statement to the PJ within the first couple of days of the investigation. My understanding is that the PJ have said they have cleared him of having an involvement, although he will continue to have arguido status.
But this witness’s statement (as set out in the paper) contradicts many points and timings given by both the McCanns and other witnesses. eg. GM having ‘high tea’ with the twins. HE says he was playing tennis.
Maybe her watch stopped!

From what I can make out, the site is updated daily as the html on that page has a modified date of today.
Interestingly though and I’ve said it before…the sum total of the info about Madeleine on that site is this 1 sentence:
“Madeleine McCann was born 4 years ago. She has one brother Sean and a sister Amelie. She lives with her family in Rothley, Leicestershire.”
We know very little else about her. I mean…does she like pets? Dogs? Cats? Does she like to sing? Is there anything that we could identify her by without looking at that eye? Why are the McCanns so reluctant to give more info about her?

(800) A few weeks ago, someone who lived near Robert Murat’s ex-wife posted that he was what appears to be known as an “ambulance chaser”, i.e. he likes to be where something is going on. It would, therefore, be logical for him to appear as soon as he heard all the commotion.

I reckon than the original image (if there is a raw file from the camera) might be of higher quality. Hopefully these people will be made aware of the photograph and come forward – that will end any speculation.

Your right about doing everything you can to get your child back, and maybe I’d do the same, but the difference me ‘ol fruit’ is that were not in that situation. Are we?

I’m very limited in my understanding of technology, so I appreciate comments from people who are knowledgeable in these areas. My only knowledge related to honing in on someone’s cell phone location triangulation is through the sci-fi movie ‘Independence Day’ when Jeff Goldblum’s character, David, is able to find out which room in the White House his ex-wife, now press secretary is in when he arrived to rescue her.

815 - Garth. I agree with you, I they have been daft. I have found the contents of Gerry’s Blog over the summer very peculiar. On an almost daily basis he described either his or her jog. And also very relevant and important things like when he got a hair-cut. For God’s sake, the website was to keep people informed about the search for Madeleine, not update them as to whether or not he got new photocopying paper (yes really it was in there).
This behaviour is exactly why people think they are not grieving.
