Madeleine McCann: Blonde Child Seen In Morocco
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Could this be Maddie?”
Readers see a picture of a child being carried on a woman’s back - “The intriguing picture being probed by Interpol.”
Pages 10 and 11: “Could this really be Maddie?”
This is the picture of a girl “in the clutches of a group of Moroccans”. The picture was taken four weeks ago near Tangiers by Spaniard Clara Torres.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADDY IN MOROCCO?”
Readers see the same picture. The Full “astonishing story” is on pages 4 and 5.
Pages 4 and 5: “COULD IT BE?” Less the full story than another question.
“GERRY: I KNOW WE WILL BE CLEARED” – Gerry McCann says he and his wife “wanted to be eliminated from the enquiry as quickly as possible”. Some news.
THE SUN front page: “MOROCCO PHOTO SENSATION. IS THIS MADDIE?”
The picture is “sensational”. It has been described as “convincing”, but by whom is not said.
Pages 4 and 5: “GERRY & KATE: IT COULD BE HER – MADDIE PARENTS HOPE AT SIGHTING SENSATION.”
Clara Torres is talking on Spanish radio. She looks at the photo. Says she: “It sent shivers down my spine.”
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “NOW A ‘PHOTO’ OF MADELEINE IN MOROCCO.”
‘Photo’ is placed in quotes lest readers mistake the picture for a ‘SNAP’ or a ‘SHOT’.
Spanish Government official Jose Herrero Arcas says: “The National Police received a photograph by email taken by a young Spanish couple who believe it shows Madeleine McCann. The quality of the photograph is not very clear and it was taken from around 200 metres away. However, the National Police are taking the claim seriously enough to have sent it on to their colleagues at Interpol. I cannot give any more information than that.”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – AMAZING PHOTO IN MOROCCO.”
Pages 4 and 5: “MADDIE SEEN IN MOROCCO – Bombshell new photo is probed by Interpol.”
THE TIMES front page: “Police start investigation into ‘picture in Morocco of Madeleine McCann’.”
Page 5: “New photograph shows child like Madeleine on African woman’s back.”
A source close to the McCanns tells one and all: “The McCanns are not going to get their hopes up until the photograph has been sent for forensic examination.” And, dare it be said, a DNA test.
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Is this Madeleine in Morocco?” The search for the missing child has taken a “dramatic turn”.
Page 9: “Gerry McCann is “confident” he and his wife will be cleared. A source tells us: “It is very unlikely that British police would question the McCanns on behalf of the Portuguese now.”
Robert Murat responds to claims by nanny Charlotte Pennington that on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance he was by the McCann family apartment: “I certainly was not there that night. At no point was I there.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT no Maddy news today.

1107,1108, I suppose you’re a creationist as well as someone who thinks anything we can do will stop global warming. Excuse me while I chuck another log on the fire.

1091, The Real Stig, I can’t believe how many people can decide the Earth is round without evidence. Just imagine what it would be like to have these people on a jury - really scary to think they would go on a gut feeling.

1091, The Real Stig, I can’t believe how many people can decide the Book of Genesis is not 100% accurate without evidence. Just imagine what it would be like to have these people on a jury - really scary to think they would go on a gut feeling.

1095, Susan,
I presume the Portuguese police have good evidence for believing she is dead and in good time will present their evidence at a trial. I have not seen their evidence.
Until then I am not able, on the basis of reports alone, to arrive at a verdict.
Far from it.
The reports of DNA, fluids from a corpse, hair etc., in the wheel well of the hire car, are all hearsay.
If you have a link from a police source in Portugal, then please give it.
A link from some rag will simply not do. Like the British tabloids, they’re well know for printing lies to sell papers, and you would be just as well advised to read only the anorak forum before making your judgement.

1092 any part of bodily fluids found in spare wheel well of hire car,the PJ are looking for a body and the Prosecutor says they will escape justice if the PJ don’t find the body.Front page of todays Express……PJ we know she is dead, sounds rather difinitive, dont you think.

1006 stevo
“The nanny’s actual words were that Kate was hysterical. She didn’t say she was sobbing. Plus, you’ve only read what a journalist wrote in the paper after Ms. Pennington was given a cheque. Armed with a thesaurus, the journo most likely modified what she said because the article wasn’t written as if she said it verbatim. Articles in the paper hardly ever are…they’re edited most of the time.”
Stevo, do you need glasses, or are you possibly dyslexic? No seriously. “Wrote on paper?” This isn’t the 1950’s! They record on tape and probably use a handicam at least. When a journalists article uses quotes “” it means the words in the article so enclosed are verbatim. The nanny is quoted verbatim. Her words included:
“I couldn’t really believe what I was seeing - she was just so distraught. She was screaming out and tears were running down her face.”
You can’t get out of it this time.
You seem to have a pathological fear and utter terror that there might be any evidence somewhere that Kate can and has shown any strong or real emotions. Every single time any evidence is presented that runs contrary to your preconception that Kate is emotionless, cold and heartless, you deny it exists, question it’s authenticity or integrity.
Lets have a bit more of the nanny’s eye witness account:
“We get missing children all the time, and I have seen plenty of hysterical mothers. But none of them were like Kate.”
“We are trained to comfort people in this type of situation but she was just inconsolable,”
Journos words: “But she remained so hysterical that she could hardly communicate.”
Have you ever seen the Monty Python sketch where someone pays to have an argument - that was hilariously funny - you aren’t, though you behave in exactly the same way as Cleese, denying everything said just for the sake of it.
Rejecting every single piece of evidence presented is pathological lying to oneself. You are therefore incapable of perceiving any reality or truth about the McCanns because you have a hermetically sealed mind to which there can be no further input, so any views you have are just sad fantasies rattling around in your head, bouncing of the rubber walls of your mind like a mental patient in a straight jacket, undisturbed by the inconvenience of the real world and it’s facts.
I’d rather piss into a force 10 gale than waste any more time trying to have a reasoned argument with you because the result would be far more pleasant.

The media make up the news as they go. The Mirror says the Benessai family had never heard anything about Madeleine because, although they own six cows, several goats, sheep, a small olive grove and a vegetable patch and a threebedroom house, they have “no TV or other electrical goods or water, just a woodburning stove for cooking and heat.”
Yet ABC news writes: “Perhaps most surprising of all was the fact that Bushra’s family all knew about Madeleine, despite having no knowledge of English or French.”
Wonder how that happened? Magic? Psychic communion? Spirits and angels?
Hadn’t they just been visited by reporters (Evening Standard) with a translator, who told them?

Bushra- does that mean daughter of Bush or good news.
Bishra - does that mean daughter of the bishop or bad news.

(1073) Obviously it says that the bishop was angry with Fr. Pacheco for giving the McCs the keys. There is no ambiguity.
What I have always wondered about this is why. I would have thought that, if the priest actually believed that M had been abducted, giving them the church keys would be a reasonable thing to do. Many churches are, as someone has already said, open all day and I assume this is the case in Portugal too. Usually, when they close them, it’s because they’ve had some kind or problem, which could well be the case in a tourist area. But I don’t find it odd that the priest gave them the keys and would almost interpret it to mean that he himself believed the abduction story, at least at the beginning. I can’t see him giving the keys if he knew that M was dead, the body had been hidden and they were involved.

Something sick about some of the coverage of the lookalike:
Parents’ anguish as mystery girl is not Maddy
By Ryan Parry and Graham Brough 27/09/2007
“This is the little blonde girl the world desperately hoped was Madeleine McCann.
Sadly, the youngster who looked so like Madeleine when snapped in Morocco by a tourist, was yesterday revealed to be Bouchra Benaissa, three.”
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/2007/09/27/parents-anguish-as-mystery-girl-is-not-maddy-89520-19854295/
SADLY? Not for Bouchra Benaissa, who looks very well cared for. Nor sadly for her parents. Most fortunate for Bouchra to be who and where she is.
