The picture is “sensational”. It has been described as “convincing”, but by whom is not said.

Clara Torres is talking on Spanish radio. She looks at the photo. Says she: “It sent shivers down my spine.”

‘Photo’ is placed in quotes lest readers mistake the picture for a ‘SNAP’ or a ‘SHOT’.
Spanish Government official Jose Herrero Arcas says: “The National Police received a photograph by email taken by a young Spanish couple who believe it shows Madeleine McCann. The quality of the photograph is not very clear and it was taken from around 200 metres away. However, the National Police are taking the claim seriously enough to have sent it on to their colleagues at Interpol. I cannot give any more information than that.”

DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Is this Madeleine in Morocco?” The search for the missing child has taken a “dramatic turn”.
Page 9: “Gerry McCann is “confident” he and his wife will be cleared. A source tells us: “It is very unlikely that British police would question the McCanns on behalf of the Portuguese now.”
Robert Murat responds to claims by nanny Charlotte Pennington that on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance he was by the McCann family apartment: “I certainly was not there that night. At no point was I there.”

I have many children, work full time, attend an evening class, go to a ladies group, go to the gym, and still spend time with my kids - although I don’t drink and I don’t have a nanny.

I would have to agree Toni. It’s like when you have a baby and they take it into the nursery, you instinctively know your child’s cry.
I would be interested in KM’s reaction on seeing the picture, other than “oh at least now we’re in the clear”.
What I am surprised at, is that neither of them have gone to Morocco, as I would have by now, if I strongly thought it MIGHT even be one of mine.

I dont think by now madeleine would be frightened. ‘if’ she was abducted which i seriously doubt, she has probably spent more time with the person who took her than she ever has with her own parents. they both work full time, have a nanny, play tennis go out boozing…tell me where they fit the children into the busy schedule

You haven’t mentioned a very interesting item in the Express (I think) namely that the nanny who gave some supportive evidence towards the McCanns - she was the last person other than K & G to report seeing her, her statement said that K said ‘Madelein’e gone’ not the widely accepted ‘they’ve taken her’ - has been sacked by Mark Warner. She was drinking and failed to show for work or some such misdemeanour. However if her ’sighting’ is discounted, aren’t we back to no-one seeing Maddy after about 1.30?

Unfortunately, this picture does NOT appear to be Madeleine. The natural hair parting is going the opposite way to that in the photos of Madeleine (hers is left to right, that of the girl in the picture goes from right to left) . This always shows up when hair has not been combed and also the hair is much thicker and a little wavy.

102 - Jan. Yes I do have children, and, as I have said here many times before if it were a child of mine who was missing and who I thought had been abducted I would be moving heaven and hell to try to find her. That would include being open and honest with the police.
Please do not start insinuating that I have no empathy. You clearly do not know my position or opinion regarding this case, because I neither a pro-McCann or anti-McCann but a ‘doubter’.
So please don’t judge me and then tell me not to judge other people. Why can we not discuss things without making them personal.

A source from the head office of Moroccan Police told us that the “Sureté Nacional” (Moroccan Intelligence Services) has already identified the man that was helping the family carrying their bags and they found that it’s a family of Moroccan immigrants that lives in Europe. Moroccan intelligence services keep on investigating the last sightings, according to the same source.

how would the woman have been able to:
A) be able to qutoe the bus speed, since it was a random snap.
B) remember the bus speed.
also since there is no peripheral view calculating the speed using speed blur is impossible.
