The picture is “sensational”. It has been described as “convincing”, but by whom is not said.
Pages 4 and 5: “GERRY & KATE: IT COULD BE HER – MADDIE PARENTS HOPE AT SIGHTING SENSATION.”
Clara Torres is talking on Spanish radio. She looks at the photo. Says she: “It sent shivers down my spine.”
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “NOW A ‘PHOTO’ OF MADELEINE IN MOROCCO.”
‘Photo’ is placed in quotes lest readers mistake the picture for a ‘SNAP’ or a ‘SHOT’.
Spanish Government official Jose Herrero Arcas says: “The National Police received a photograph by email taken by a young Spanish couple who believe it shows Madeleine McCann. The quality of the photograph is not very clear and it was taken from around 200 metres away. However, the National Police are taking the claim seriously enough to have sent it on to their colleagues at Interpol. I cannot give any more information than that.”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – AMAZING PHOTO IN MOROCCO.”

A source close to the McCanns tells one and all: “The McCanns are not going to get their hopes up until the photograph has been sent for forensic examination.” And, dare it be said, a DNA test.
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Is this Madeleine in Morocco?” The search for the missing child has taken a “dramatic turn”.
Page 9: “Gerry McCann is “confident” he and his wife will be cleared. A source tells us: “It is very unlikely that British police would question the McCanns on behalf of the Portuguese now.”
Robert Murat responds to claims by nanny Charlotte Pennington that on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance he was by the McCann family apartment: “I certainly was not there that night. At no point was I there.”

I dont agree with this comment I think the media campaign has been beneficial in getting the message out there. How many other abducted/missing childrens names can you recall who didnt have an overhyped media campaign?
Nor would I put my trust in the police - do you really think that police would find Madeleine without the world’s observance?

I watched it twice. For whatever reason, I just don’t think I was watching two parents who really believe their daughter was abducted. In the interview, they are visibly relieved by talking about how other parents neglect their children, Kate says that other mothers have told her that they leave their children alone as well. If I was in their shoes, and my daughter had been abducted because I left her alone in an apartment for the evening, I would not be telling everyone that I am sorry, and that everyone else does this. I would be saying, “DON’T LEAVE YOUR CHILDREN ALONE IN AN APARTMENT WHEN YOU GO OUT FOR THE EVENING. KIDNAPPERS COULD BE WATCHING. THEY WILL SNATCH YOUR CHILD WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT!!!!!!!!”
It may be that the McCann’s have to go through the rest of their lives with everyone thinking, “that’s the couple who reported their child missing and then the police found enough evidence of blood and sedation to name them as suspects but without a body or a confession, not enough to prosecute them. Wonder if they were covering up something else, and why didn’t they answer the questions that every other parent of a missing child would answer. Wonder what else they are covering up.”
Despicable way of leaving things. The McCann’s need to fully cooperate with the police, to the complete satisfaction of the police. It is the only way for them to clear their names. Trying to buy your name back doesn’t work. But then, people who don’t especially care about their children wouldn’t really care about their own names, or would they???

Goodness, what a load of nonsense - didn’t anyone notice that this photo of a ‘very frightened’ girl being taken by a ‘gang’ of dodgy towel-heads from the local bus station (where they’d arrived from Europe where they live) to visit their relations back in Morocco, was debunked by Paolo Reis last night?
The front-page pictures don’t show the local pushing the family’s luggage in a wheelbarrow.
Wonder why?
And WHY ON EARTH didn’t the xenophobic British media just CHECK with the Moroccan police before running this absurd story - they’d identified the people in the phot days ago.

The child could be being carried for a variety of reasons. Tiredness, disability, to protect it from sunstroke, etc.
It seems people are putting Maddy on the womans back and deducing facts to suit the picture.

on the day the cctv and reconstruction of the 11 year old who was shot in liverpool, is released it is cast in shadow again by pr team mc cann, with a timely photo of a blonde girl in morocco.

1. If Maddie was abducted they will keep her hidden or kill her
2. reminding us 24/7 that shes missing hasnt helped find her
3. It all seems self preserving since being accused, at the end of august it was quieting down till the arrests.
4. The constant staged church trips/outings (likening them to The blairs, Browns or Royalty) with the twins is nauseating as it seems to think we are that stupid we will forget their neglect one day!
They should keep their mouths shut and concentrate on finding her through pI
instead of appealing to the public as it is hardly helping with photos of blonde little girls all over the world taking over our own police requesting help solving other childrens killers!!

hello, I have not posted on here before because I have found that most of the comments, particularily on this forum have been pretty vile, although it is a site which is supposed to be comic, for want of a better word. But some comments have got me absolutely reeling., esp spindoctor: “who carries their 4 year old in a sling”?? They may be trying to hde the child’s identity.Perhaps??
