This is the picture of a girl “in the clutches of a group of Moroccans”. The picture was taken four weeks ago near Tangiers by Spaniard Clara Torres.

“GERRY: I KNOW WE WILL BE CLEARED” – Gerry McCann says he and his wife “wanted to be eliminated from the enquiry as quickly as possible”. Some news.
THE SUN front page: “MOROCCO PHOTO SENSATION. IS THIS MADDIE?”
The picture is “sensational”. It has been described as “convincing”, but by whom is not said.
Pages 4 and 5: “GERRY & KATE: IT COULD BE HER – MADDIE PARENTS HOPE AT SIGHTING SENSATION.”
Clara Torres is talking on Spanish radio. She looks at the photo. Says she: “It sent shivers down my spine.”
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “NOW A ‘PHOTO’ OF MADELEINE IN MOROCCO.”
‘Photo’ is placed in quotes lest readers mistake the picture for a ‘SNAP’ or a ‘SHOT’.
Spanish Government official Jose Herrero Arcas says: “The National Police received a photograph by email taken by a young Spanish couple who believe it shows Madeleine McCann. The quality of the photograph is not very clear and it was taken from around 200 metres away. However, the National Police are taking the claim seriously enough to have sent it on to their colleagues at Interpol. I cannot give any more information than that.”

A source close to the McCanns tells one and all: “The McCanns are not going to get their hopes up until the photograph has been sent for forensic examination.” And, dare it be said, a DNA test.
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Is this Madeleine in Morocco?” The search for the missing child has taken a “dramatic turn”.
Page 9: “Gerry McCann is “confident” he and his wife will be cleared. A source tells us: “It is very unlikely that British police would question the McCanns on behalf of the Portuguese now.”
Robert Murat responds to claims by nanny Charlotte Pennington that on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance he was by the McCann family apartment: “I certainly was not there that night. At no point was I there.”

The public are losing interest in the case, that’s the reason the media published the photo of “Madeleine” in Morocco today.

It doesn’t explain why GM is acting so dodgy when asked the sedatives question or why he’s so odd emotionally about the entire situation or why he keeps coming up with strange explanations, such as the abductor hiding behind the bedroom door when he was checking on the kids (and mentions to the press four months later).

Tracy 831, I am afraid you are missing the point. When you say “I can’t… think people guilty of a terrible crime just because there are lots of rumours”, you have the cart before the horse. There are a lot of rumours (sic) because people think, on the basis of some fairly impressive evidence, that the child’s parents and their associates have been dishonest, and have sought to manipulate the media in order to influence public opinion - which leads peple perfectly reasonably to ask why this is, and what they may have to hide.
No intelligent person is suggesting the parents have murdered this child, but anyone with intelligence can sense that there is a lot of spinning going on, and wonder why.
It is being reported on the TV news this evening that much of the cash raised to date has been spent on media consultancy fees. When initially-sympathetic members of the public start to think about how their donations have been used to maintain their sympathy, will we see a backlash? It reminds me of an old Michael Bentine sketch about some farmers who from time immemorial have carefully cultivated a certain rare plant, cropped its leaves at harvest time, woven the leaves into mats, and then have used the mats for one purpose only, which is to protect the roots of these plants over the winter to keep off the frost, so that next year they can continue carefully to cultivate the plant, crop its leaves, weave them …

What if…GM is innocent?
What if GM was busy elsewhere - yes much speculation and imagination re swinging - someone, either Payne husband or Oldfield -confusion here but I bet it was Payne - visited KM around seven, waited while KM gave sedation provided by Obrien, kids asleep after 10-20 mins, grown ups got on with their business…, Maddie has massive reaction, resussitation attempt, not worked, leave her in the bed while panic, GM returns, sees Maddie “asleep” under blanket, .
GM goes for a shower, KM in shock, talks with “visitor”, visitor leaves, talks to sedation accomplace (Obrien) about problem, KM tries to act normal in front of GM, get ready, go out to dinner, meanwhile plan cooked up by Payne and Obrien, they remove and hide Maddie, - KM shocked when maddie disappears.
Still thinking, not very literary like. But why didn’t the sniffer dogs smell “death” on GM? While it was reported in the Mail - for what the press reports are worth - that odour was found on one of other Tapas9.
Still thinking…sorry if this has already been done.

According to this Sept. 21 article about Father Pacheco, it was his Bishop that advised him to turn the keys over to the McCanns:
“Catholic priests are bound by oath never to reveal sins revealed in confession. Father Pacheco is said to have been ticked off by Bishop Manuel Quintas for giving the McCanns the keys to his chapel, so they could pray in private.”

866 - As a film school graduate - USC Class of ‘98 - I thought this video was far too wordy, moved too quick between the clips with no narration, weak visuals and biased beyond belief. if you want people to read it, absorb it ,then slow it down if you don’t have any audio other than music in the background. The acoustics were pretty lousy also.
It also showed no level of poignancy, emotion was missing from it.
I didn’t feel moved one way or the other. I also didn’t feel entertained.
And FAR too long. A lot more could be said in a lot less time and space.
So, it’s back to the edit room for Spudgun.
Overall, I give it 3 thumbs down. I realise it’s an amateur attempt at a video but I don’t think Hollywood will be calling for the movie rights anytime soon. LOL

Would like to add my hearty congratulations to you, Spudgun, on your informative and moving video about Madeleine - almost had me in tears, in fact. I’ll be circulating the URL to all my contacts during the next 24 hours. I hope a few British newspapers and TV editors and journalists see it. Excellent choice of music and images, and I think on the whole the content was about right for 10 the minutes available. Quite right to feature Gordon Brown’s role in this bizarre affair; he seems to have an almost mesmeric grip on the media and public opinion right now, so well done for questioning his very personal role in this tawdry and deeply tragic affair.
I hope it’ll inspire others to make similar videos which get behind the media and McCann spin to the truth

At the end of the day the McCanns are not devout catholics - if they were they would have followed their faiths teachings and listened to the advice of the Priest which should have been to come clean and stop the pain and suffering they are inflicting upon everyone who are trying to help them.
If they have not come clean he is a man that is harbouring a criminal.
How far do you go as a priest to keep a confession?
Would you stop a killer who confessed he was about to murder your own family?
How many Priests would run straight to the police with that one?
The priest is acting as a judge and he has forgiven the McCanns for their crime.
All very well but it is up to God to forgive them not him at the end of the day.
They are happy to be declared forgiven by a priest - this couple need to grow up!
They are not children being forgiven by Nanny for being naughty - they have commited a crime and are commiting an even larger one by continuing to cover it up.
I doubt if the priest is tortured by the confession - it is his job to forgive people no matter what they do - what he is really tortured by is the knowledge that the couple are not following his faith quite as devoutly as he would like them to…and the dilema for him is only whether or not he believes they are sorry at all - they did not convince us - so what makes us think they have said sorry to the priest …or even God?????????
