Madeleine McCann: Blonde Child Seen In Morocco
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY MAIL front page: “Could this be Maddie?”
Readers see a picture of a child being carried on a woman’s back - “The intriguing picture being probed by Interpol.”
Pages 10 and 11: “Could this really be Maddie?”
This is the picture of a girl “in the clutches of a group of Moroccans”. The picture was taken four weeks ago near Tangiers by Spaniard Clara Torres.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADDY IN MOROCCO?”
Readers see the same picture. The Full “astonishing story” is on pages 4 and 5.
Pages 4 and 5: “COULD IT BE?” Less the full story than another question.
“GERRY: I KNOW WE WILL BE CLEARED” – Gerry McCann says he and his wife “wanted to be eliminated from the enquiry as quickly as possible”. Some news.
THE SUN front page: “MOROCCO PHOTO SENSATION. IS THIS MADDIE?”
The picture is “sensational”. It has been described as “convincing”, but by whom is not said.
Pages 4 and 5: “GERRY & KATE: IT COULD BE HER – MADDIE PARENTS HOPE AT SIGHTING SENSATION.”
Clara Torres is talking on Spanish radio. She looks at the photo. Says she: “It sent shivers down my spine.”
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “NOW A ‘PHOTO’ OF MADELEINE IN MOROCCO.”
‘Photo’ is placed in quotes lest readers mistake the picture for a ‘SNAP’ or a ‘SHOT’.
Spanish Government official Jose Herrero Arcas says: “The National Police received a photograph by email taken by a young Spanish couple who believe it shows Madeleine McCann. The quality of the photograph is not very clear and it was taken from around 200 metres away. However, the National Police are taking the claim seriously enough to have sent it on to their colleagues at Interpol. I cannot give any more information than that.”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – AMAZING PHOTO IN MOROCCO.”
Pages 4 and 5: “MADDIE SEEN IN MOROCCO – Bombshell new photo is probed by Interpol.”
THE TIMES front page: “Police start investigation into ‘picture in Morocco of Madeleine McCann’.”
Page 5: “New photograph shows child like Madeleine on African woman’s back.”
A source close to the McCanns tells one and all: “The McCanns are not going to get their hopes up until the photograph has been sent for forensic examination.” And, dare it be said, a DNA test.
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “Is this Madeleine in Morocco?” The search for the missing child has taken a “dramatic turn”.
Page 9: “Gerry McCann is “confident” he and his wife will be cleared. A source tells us: “It is very unlikely that British police would question the McCanns on behalf of the Portuguese now.”
Robert Murat responds to claims by nanny Charlotte Pennington that on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance he was by the McCann family apartment: “I certainly was not there that night. At no point was I there.”
THE GUARDIAN & THE INDEPENDENT no Maddy news today.

And for those that read the Sun, another dictionary definition of “sob” is:
To weep aloud with convulsive gasping; cry uncontrollably.
See…more lies about the McCanns.

And Emma…what does “sobbed” actually mean when referring to Kate in an interview?
Dictionary.com says:
Sobbed: to weep with a convulsive catching of the breath.
That’s definitely not Kate then is it?

I am not getting dragged in to all that - just pointing out the facts

Oh, I think I remember it now. And you mean Kate’s voice actually cracked? Wow…
No tears though right?
I was thinking they should have named their Ltd Company: Don’t Shed A Tear Ltd.
At least that would be truthful. I’ve never seen them looking for anything…let alone a missing daughter. They certainly haven’t turned over any stones.

The Guardian
The mother of three-year-old Madeleine McCann yesterday begged people to pray for her daughter as the police effort to find the missing girl appeared to be floundering. Speaking in the upmarket Algarve resort from where Madeleine vanished last Thursday night, presumed abducted, Kate McCann said: “Please continue to pray for Madeleine.” Her voice cracked as she added: “She’s lovely.”

i’m a bit confused now.
am i on your list as a pro mc cann, or are you saying i’m you as well, or am i supposed to be all those other people?
i can’t really make any sense out of it.
September 27th, 2007 at 12:39 am
Ah bugger it.
Not losing anymore sleep tonight. It’s late enough
962 - can’t really answer that- that’s the way you have judged things - don’t really get the gullible stuff though. I’m quite sure they have regrets about the way they have done things in light of the poo they are now in (guilty or not guilty) - might have been easier to stay quiet
- the first of your quotes yet again highlight that the problem was their non admittance of any blame in leaving their kids - this has certainly been their Achilles Heel - they just didn’t seem to want to say they were wrong - perhaps in private they might have, I have seen other quotes that they have, that they felt guilty etc. If I were in their position, I might have been reluctant to admit to the world that I had F’d up royally, but then again, if they knew what was going to happen or were as mediawise as they are supposed to be, then I’m sure they would be right on it with the public apologies. That and Kate not crying seem to be the problem - and you can’t blame her for her accent on the second quote.
Before I am passed off as Team McCann, I don’t care - carry on. I just don’t get it.
It’s not logical and it’s not right to have fun debating all this shit, and that’s it. Bed

Let’s see . . . 176 words . . . 50p a word . . . KEERCHING!
September 27th, 2007 at 12:35 am
964 Whatever your opinion it doesn’t change the fact that the words were ‘She’s lovely’ does it. If you can’t hear the words being said on numerous websites, news programmes etc maybe its just because you don’t want to.
On a more trivial note - ‘Be a good girl..’ - it would have been a LOT wierder if she had come out with something like that.

or the family turn it into a bizzare campaign of self promotion of innocence
dragging up witnesses that come out the woowork and photos for a little piece of news everyday to turn the spotlight away from them

Geez…now they are sticking their fingers in the Madeleine fund for their “living expenses”.
Are bribes also living expenses?
Can’t Spindocter McConn get a new job or something?
I very much doubt they’ll ever work as doctors again.

tracy
if in the early days they were sincere and were aghast and deeply ashamed shocked and inconsolable that they made the wrong decision to leave them
i feel like i did in the earlier days a little empathy for them.
but since the arrests i’ve studied it hard watched all the interveiws clips and stuff
and whatever bit we ma have had has gone leaving our minds defending maddie and her siblings
sedating/manslaughter,swinging,concealing a body, jet setting, blogging, jogging, papal visits aside of course……………
we all hope its not true, but we are not bloody that frigging gullible either
“it felt so right”
“she was lovelly”

McCann: 479.545€ de dépenses depuis le 9 septembre
d219ae1bcc2ac1bfe0676a1cb87b89b0.gif

Your sentiments are admirable - bravo.
Pull up a pew or run away in disgust, but you will always remember you were here, now. I think history is being made - here; now. It won’t be something to remember with pleasure, like being in the Cavern club in Liverpool in the early 60’s, no this is more a moment of infamy, when members of the information public suddenly decided they justified in turning a families terrifyingly awful tragedy into a spectator sport characterised by malice, vindictiveness and spite.
Ever seen footage of killer whales playing with seal pups in the shore break, until they are just carcases? Well hang around and watch how ‘humans’ do it.
People are at this very moment gathering material for academic interest and as fuel for future publications. Anon, you may see titles like ‘How Witches are Burnt in the 21st Century’ or similar. You may see posts from here read out in Parliament in some future debate on Internet censorship or changes to libel laws.
It’s a happening place.
