Kate and Gerry are “shattered”.
Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”

Portia, I think we tend to stick with pictures and medals these days, at least in Europe.
I think if they were cutting Madeleine up there would be a lot of evidence and even if the PJs are as bad as they say, I think they might come across a heart.
Still, anything is possible…

I have a friend that is Catholic and she had mentioned that every church had a ‘relic’ of the saint it was named after. Jesus I thought she was talking about hankie or a staff not a liver or a heart!!!!

Saints relics.
It really isn’t unusual, even in the modern age. Many saints have been dug up for the purpose of selling their relics. History is filled with such stories. For some types of Catholics, relic collecting is the greatest pastime on earth.

Well… yes, I have actually seen the size of the fridge in those apartments (I doubt the family friend has).

I didn’t know there was any evidence that they’d sedated their daughter, never mind oversedated her?
If there is, the parents should be in custody. Maybe they will be soon. They should not be allowed to be looking after the twins if there is evidence that they oversedated Madeleine.
What is the evidence you speak of? I’ve only heard rumours or suspicions from “sources”. The judge said there was insufficient evidence for charges to be brought. Surely evidence of sedation or oversedation would warrant some sort of serious charge? At the very least, the UK police and social services should have removed the other children from the McCanns’ home.
Evidence may be forthcoming but I personally have seen nothing as yet of such evidence. Have you?
It’s a long time since Catholics “butchered” saints. Anyone “butchered” Pope John Paul 2 or Mother Teresa? They seem to be widely regarded as saintly among Catholics.
I think you need to reread “The Merchant of Venice” to be reinspired by Portia’s wisdom!

Portia, I don’t think I’ve ever butchered the corpse of a Saint, so far. It would be up to the Vatican to do that.

For what it’s worth. Kind of disgusting but here goes.
Catholics do have a very well known tradition of butchering the corpses of saints and keeping relics for themselves. If the parents accidently oversedated their daughter (and I hope they didn’t but evidence is evidence) then it would make sense, for the protection of their jobs and reputation, to get rid of the body. If they were forced into a hasty decision, it is very likely that they would have preserved the heart, or something, for a proper burial.

Stig, I don’t know if you and Mod have noticed this but when I say Kate and Gerry aren’t guilty - because I don’t know what they’d do with the body - no one ever gets angry when they post back. They tend to either agree, or make a point about what they think they did with the body.
Whenever I make a comment about the P.R. machine and the way Kate and Gerry come across on the T.V. (which, I can’t help but feel, is odd) - I get a post which more or less says ‘you are a vile moron, you are conducting a hate campaign, you are destroying the McCanns, you have no right to say that, how dare you say how they should act…’ and on and on and on.
Since Kate and Gerry have a P.R. and since everyone assumes they read this - isn’t it actually valuable feedback to give an honest opinion of how they come across in interviews. After all, if they are from the stiff-upper-lip school of crisis management - they could tell us that. Why persist in interviews that are putting the public off if the object of the interviews is to find Madeleine?

Stig there are quite a few of us that think the McC’s are faking it. Poor Karen is having to read political books, not miss her show practices all the while trying to keep up with this site. Go easy on her. She apparently has more of a life than the rest of us.

…Just watched a film about a girl who was murdered and buried (behind a stone wall) for 6 months by a couple of people who killed her by accident. The film ends with the girl’s spirit released after the body is finally discovered and there is a proper burial.
Then I came here, and I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t asleep and dreaming.
This is getting even more surreal. I mean more surreal than the 2000 US Presidential Election. And that was pretty hard to beat.
I mean… setting up the FreeKateMcCann website on 8 September… how weird is that?
