Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”

Maybe they are victims of the press. I do slag them off a lot, which I feel guilty about - because sometimes Gerry does look like a lost wee boy, and sometimes Kate does look like she can’t be bothered with anything anymore.
They need to sack Clarence though. A missing child doesn’t need Labour spin.

What more “help” can interviewing the parents bring to this case? Madeleine’s image is out there, surely that is all that can be done to bring her to peoples attention, especially as the parents very rarely give any more details about Madeleine when interviewed anyway.
IMO, I think they would do well to stop the interviews, keep up the poster campaign and if they feel Madeleine is dropping from the pulic eye then take out full page adverts in newspapers around the world.

All of the papers reported back in June that Portuguese police, found evidence of a mystery DNA of a sixth person in the Madelein’s bedroom, it did not match any of the family. For some reason the PJ have been ignoring their funding. It was all over the press, you can google it if you like as it was the first set of analysed forensic from the Portuguese forensics lab.
Why have they gone quiet about it, beats me.

Oh, By the way Piet Byleveld has done some work for the FBI and for Scotland Yard successfully. That was in the papers today as he has been promoted to Director yesterday.
Yeah well I am ex resident of SA,though a UK citizen, and with 60 murders a day on your hands, and numerous thousands or armed robberies, rapes, child rape, hijackings etc etc etc ad nauseum…. suggest SA problems be dealt with this Super Hero .!!

The possibility of the twins’ crying disturbing Madeleine was mentioned in earlier articles when it was suggested she may have gone into her parents’ bed.
A lot of people let their children cry for a few minutes if they wake in the night, only getting up to them if the crying goes on for more than a couple of minutes. Of course, being absent, you’d never know what was going on. There is no way anyone can explain themselves out of that situation.
I’m sure an abductor (with accomplices keeping a lookout, would not have worried about the twins waking up and crying - as he or she escaped through the bedroom window - as he/she would have been able to rest assured everyone was enjoying themselves at the tapas bar, well out of earshot.

But giving one-hour TV interviews, having other interviews etc. lined up hardly seems like they are trying to back off from media attention. This might all be Clarence Mitchell’s idea, but the McCanns have the choice to say no.
Certainly in the last few weeks they seem to have been damaging their own credibility all on their own. Good example was Gerry McCann’s new revelation about an abductor being in the apartment with him.
I agree with you about riding the tiger. I think their media handling has gone way out of control and benefits no one except the newspaper magnates’ bottom lines.

the newspaper today here in denmark has claimed the pj have stated they are fed up with the mccannc divitionary tactics regarding the photo.
does this mean they believe the mccanns had something to do with distributing a picture they kenw was not maddie?

I know exactly how I would react if I found my child missing from bed and I certainly would not be chatting away in the street without locating her first. It will be very significant if the story has changed with hindsight, but not if it was wrong because of inaccurate reporting, which happens often enough. Reporters always have more fact than they choose to give us, there simply isn’t enough space, and editors cut out even more.

I agree with you. I think it is damaging and agree with India Knight that a Clarence type person is a mistake. Have you read what India had to say about all this?
I know everyone thinks the McCanns are driving the media, but it is the other way round. Gerry did court the media in the beginning but later he said that he wanted it to back down as it was counter productive - did we see the media do that?
Think of Diana, she may have courted the media at times and fed of it a bit but even had she told them to back off they wouldn’t. Did they back off when she was seeing Dodi?
The McCanns are a Diana replacement for the media, they are not going to let go of such a revenue generating hot topic.
So yes, I agree with you absolutely but it’s that proverb about riding a tiger - once on, it can be hard to get off.
