Madeleine McCann: Spies, Richard Branson PI And Maddy TV
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. SPY-IN-SKY PLAN TO FIND HER KIDNAPPER.”
So she was kidnapped. Wasn’t she?
“Satellite and aerial footage as well as internet traffic should be used to help the hunt,” say “intelligence experts”, including Professor Anthony Glees, Director of Brunel University’s Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies. Security is his thing.
Pages 4 and 5: “Riddle of the McCanns’ day out” – Why did the McCanns go to Spain on August 3 and what did they do there? Clarence Mitchell says the TV cameras and journalists tracked their every move.
“Branson: They are innocent” – Richard Branson PI calls it a “grotesque nightmare”. He has donated £100,000 to help the McCanns clear their name. He says the McCanns have “the weight and support of Britain behind them”.
THE SUN front page: “OUTRAGE AS COPS CLAIM MADDIE ‘BURIED IN SPAIN’.”
Pages 6 and 7: “POLICE PROBE LOST 2 HOURS” – Police Claim the McCanns buried Madeleine during a “missing two hours” in Spain.
Kate and Gerry are “shattered”.
Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”
Page 5: “They suffered a devastating blow with the false alarm in Morocco. Kate has crashed.”
“COPS PROBE SPAIN TRIP.”
DAILY STAR pages 6 and 7: “MADDIE DUMPED IN SPAIN.” An “exclusive”.
THE TIMES page 16: Mick Hume says: “The line between investigation and emotive entertainment has disappeared.”
THE TELEGRAPH page 6: “Portuguese focus on McCanns’ Spain trip” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns are innocent.
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: no Madeleine news today.

All of you people are talking the biggest load of crap! I trust that there will be massive apologies to the McCann family that you are destroying when and if the child is found. You are all like a bunch of hyenas feeding on the PJ crap that they are putting out because of their totally inadequate policing and detecting methods.

#176. Its all PR and ego boosting, based on erroneous assumption that:
Pro-McCanners = caring, open-minded, reasonable and non-judgemental.
Non Pro-McCanners = narrow-minded, judgemental hatemongers.
NB. the word ‘erroneous’ on line 1 though!!!

Eddie 172, that is interesting indeed / hope things are revealed this weekend and the b*stards can be nailed once and for all / poor kid
September 28th, 2007 at 1:00 pm
172, Eddie,
Ylenia was from Appenzell, in Switzerland. There is a chance her body was buried in the forest after the dogs searched, I suppose. I know questions have been raised about the man who found her body… scroll to 24 september 2007 here:
http://www.kidnapping.be/ylenia/index.html
Ylenia’s mother, a paediatric nurse, went back to work a few weeks after her daughter’s disappearance. A pity the Madeleine fund couldn’t have stumped up to support her until her child was found. A businessman did put up a reward for finding her.

Oh my what a to do.
I come in late expecting there to be little to respond to, and what do I find, a trip to Spain on August 3rd, which just happens to be a national holiday when shops are closed. Then there’s a missing couple of hours and high mileage. This adds up to Madeline being burried in Spain.
Yeah right talk about grasping at straws.
The McCanns if not on a publicity trip, were tourists. How would they know about Spanish public holidays. So the shops were closed, and they went looking for somewhere that may be open. That takes time and mileage. I have done the same thing on holiday, and I’ll bet a good number of posters on here also done it.
I said a couple of weeks ago when the distance travelled during the period of hire, which was declared as 1700Km, amounts to an average of 10 miles a day.
Do the police expect us to believe they knew the start and finish mileage for the trip. That they can say with certainty that the McCanns did a specific amount of mileage that day. Maybe they just went to a secluded area for a bit of time out from everyone.
Its all speculation without a shred of evidence.

130 - Real Stig
There’s only one me and Mods and Admin can confirm I’ve only ever had one alias.
What exactly is your problem with Kate’s lack of emotions in public or in front of the media spotlight? Why do you have a hard time with it and cling on to any shred of information that says she cried behind closed doors or sobbed in an interview? Why? I don’t understand your stance on it.
If she cried in private and in front of nobody then fine - but how would we know? We hear stories from Sun journalists that she sobbed. We hear from others that she broke down. So, Kate can show emotion to selected people then? Is that it? She does it to people that will write about it? But we never see it do we?
Kate is hiding something and her emotions are a major key to the mystery. Devoted, loving, caring mothers do not have the demeanour shown by Kate in 5 months. They haven’t in the past and they won’t in the future. It’s like if you hit your thumb with a hammer, you will react by feeling the pain and flinching or crying out. It doesn’t have to be a physically inflicted trauma to show some sign of hurting. Kate should have shed a tear and it be captured somewhere considering the scale of the media attention. But no, she has never shed a tear or wiped one away and there is no video or photo that shows that. All we have ever seen is her eyes looking south and a scrunched up face.
Pro McCanns like you have a problem with this. I’m anti Kate and Gerry but I’m PRO MADELEINE. I want her to be found and I want justice for her sake. I think that statement goes for every anti-McCann in this forum. We all want Madeleine to be found and this is not a witch hunt. It’s a hunt for the truth and that does not mean you read the Sun and take that as gospel. Unfortunately, you do and it is very sad to see grown, intelligent adults manipulated by the press.
Kate McCann does not display the body language commensurate with a mother losing a toddler (and neither does Gerry for that matter).

Its this sort of thing I think the PJs are keeping to themselves.
For Mc Canns to “explain” before being asked to,
so showing that they are guessing ahead and therefore incriminating themselves more.
They heard about this evidence , knew DP or OB resuscitated or similar and tried to explain it away by saying that they were there.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Are Clarance Mitchell and Richard Branson criminal investigators? They seem to know that the McCanns are innocent? Based on what facts?

Given the accusations of multiple ID’s I should have been clearer - I did not really think you were stevo, it’s just that your reply was nearly identical to one of his.
Post 109 in this thread:
http://www.anorak.co.uk/madeleine-mccann/176572.html
My later reply to him does NOT apply to you.
“I come from Just outside Glasgow.”
So did most of the Cocteau Twins - that’s a compliment.

168,
from the reports it was clear that they uncoverd DNA of a 6th person not 1000’s of people but a 6th mystery person. Go back to the reports if you don’t believe me, google it or look at the Wikepdia history of the case as it will give you a quicker overview. Now I gotta run, this site is way too addictive.

Going back to the point made above about cadaver detecting dogs having missed the scent of a corpse in the missing Austrian child case. This may well be true.
The opposite is, unfortunately, not true. Cadaver detecting dogs are extremeley unlikely to give a false positive when looking for “the smell of death” - ie the incidence of detecting a body where in fact there was never a body is exceptionally low. That does not, of course mean that it is impossible to give a false positive, just extremely unlikely. The handlers in Portugal will have conducted their search several times in order to verify that their dog responded the same each time ie indicated the scent of death each time it did a search.
As regards the US court not using such evidence, this has been raised by Team McCann, yes.
I look to the record of Eddie himself, the dog who searched the McCann apartment. His indication was used to help convict in Northern Ireland when he detected that a cadaver had been present in a burnt out car.

Gotta go, you have to admit that this forum really does waste a lot of personal time. I am surprised that some posters are able to be on here all day long.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
161: LOL, that’s true Rosemary…but at the end of the day we won’t the escape their “message” anyway as the “sources close to the family” resemble more and more the infamous Duracell rabbits…

160, nononethere,
Surely there must have been a considerable amount of DNA they could not link to known individuals.
I’m sure they concentrated on those they had samples for.
I was listening to a burglar on the radio the other day who said he would empty the contents of a vacuum cleaner used to clean a large office when carrying out a robbery if he wanted to confuse an investigation - this is why DNA evidence isn’t reliable. It can be planted. I think he was a “reformed” burglar, BTW!

Thirder May = Murder Day
September 28th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
#160. They might have found it belonged to someone else, eg. a cleaner, and not thought it worth leaking. Hard to know about anything much. There are so many missing pieces. It is really infuriating.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
159,
well so what maybe he has been wracking his brain every day trying to think about what all the possiblities were. Also how do we really know that he never mentioned this to the PJ before, after all those leaks I have no reason to believe anything the PJ say, especially now.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:47 pm

maybe its david paynes or o briens
September 28th, 2007 at 12:47 pm
78 Batman….waste of time. Not infallible and can be cheated, especially by people so in control of their emotional output as McCanns.. it would not “prove” a thing in end, hence the damn things being inadmissible in any court. They have as much credibility really as Scientology E -Meter !!!
SA readers here may recall May is Afrikaans the ” Family Murder Month” as discovered over a 10 years research by Stellenbosch, UCT and Wits Universities who were trying to unravel the “mystery” of these many murders caused by one family member wiping out the entire family for no apparent reason that could be found. They got no answers except that this phenomena is almost unique to Afrikaans families in SA and May was the main month in which they occurred.
For whatever use this snippet is…!!!!

Edna, who is Karen Solene?
September 28th, 2007 at 12:45 pm
157, Pixie,
At least we will be spared that interview.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
144,
no the northern european male came from the tiny flecks of blood that the British police uncovered, I think in July or August and that was analysed by the FSS in the UK. The DNA I am talking about was found back at the end of May, beginning of June by the Portuguese police and was analysed in Portugal. It was the first piece of forensics uncovered and never identified except to confirm that it did not match any of the family. I do find it strange that it is not longer mentioned by the PJ.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
I suppose this from Paulo Reis has already been linked:
But a British Police officer that is part of the liaison team based in Algarve, who works closelly with Portuguese detectives in charge of Madeleine McCan’s disappearance, told us: “I never heard the McCann talking about it with my Portuguese colleagues”. Other police source was also “surprised” with this new revelation, as Gerry McCann never mentioned nothing about the possibility of a kidnapper hidden in the apartment, when he checked his three children, on the night of May 3: “Gerry McCann never told Police that he suspected there was a kidnapper hidden at his room, or in the other room.”
Another police source was puzzled with the fact that “only after four months Gerry McCann decided to speak about this, and used the British newspapers to do that: “Mr. Gerry McCann talked with Police detectives for so many hours, as a witness and as a formal suspect, and never mentioned a word about the possibility of a hidden kidnapper in the apartment.”
http://gazetadigitalmadeleinecase.blogspot.com/2007/09/british-police-liaison-officer.html
September 28th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Someone said something about the Mccanns not being able to go on TV.
Thats just not true…all they have to do is confess…..I’m sure the PJ would be OK with that.
Seriously, if they really were such child centric loving parents and Kate meant that ‘She’s lovely’ tag she chucks in occasionaly then they’d put finding Maddie well ahead of their own skins and not worry about any secrecy laws. The fact is, they need that secrecy to avoid the awkward ‘neglect’ charges.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
They are so getting on my nerves…
The Sun:
The pair have been forced to turn down an interview with the US’s top television interviewer Barbara Waters which could have reached tens of millions of viewers, helping the search for the four-year-old who has been missing for almost five months.
The McCanns are unable to discuss the case because of their legal status in the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance.
A friend of the McCanns said: “It is madness. We are being forced to inhabit a fantasy world in which we can increase public awareness of Madeleine’s disappearance and urge the public’s help through a poster campaign, but her own parents cannot help in this because of the legal status attached to them.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2005320001-2007450206,00.html
Jesus Christ – I don’t live in the UK but every time I pass a newsagent all I see is the McCanns. The world KNOWS Madeleine is missing, they don’t need to tell that to Barbara Waters.

A bit childish even for you.
At least have the bulls to comment like that when the person it’s aimed at is online.

Mods and Admin
The person it was aimed at was online when she posted it,the person got spammed, I got distracted by a call from a client, and the uproar happened then.
So could everyone now leave Karen alone please.

Sorry, Stig. I shouldn’t just put the number, they jump. It was for truth somebody or other.
