Madeleine McCann: Spies, Richard Branson PI And Maddy TV
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. SPY-IN-SKY PLAN TO FIND HER KIDNAPPER.”
So she was kidnapped. Wasn’t she?
“Satellite and aerial footage as well as internet traffic should be used to help the hunt,” say “intelligence experts”, including Professor Anthony Glees, Director of Brunel University’s Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies. Security is his thing.
Pages 4 and 5: “Riddle of the McCanns’ day out” – Why did the McCanns go to Spain on August 3 and what did they do there? Clarence Mitchell says the TV cameras and journalists tracked their every move.
“Branson: They are innocent” – Richard Branson PI calls it a “grotesque nightmare”. He has donated £100,000 to help the McCanns clear their name. He says the McCanns have “the weight and support of Britain behind them”.
THE SUN front page: “OUTRAGE AS COPS CLAIM MADDIE ‘BURIED IN SPAIN’.”
Pages 6 and 7: “POLICE PROBE LOST 2 HOURS” – Police Claim the McCanns buried Madeleine during a “missing two hours” in Spain.
Kate and Gerry are “shattered”.
Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”
Page 5: “They suffered a devastating blow with the false alarm in Morocco. Kate has crashed.”
“COPS PROBE SPAIN TRIP.”
DAILY STAR pages 6 and 7: “MADDIE DUMPED IN SPAIN.” An “exclusive”.
THE TIMES page 16: Mick Hume says: “The line between investigation and emotive entertainment has disappeared.”
THE TELEGRAPH page 6: “Portuguese focus on McCanns’ Spain trip” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns are innocent.
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: no Madeleine news today.

with the police from the same vacinity being corrupt-i do find it very strange.
like you say there is corrupt cops everywhere-
but if you where innocently accused of murder, which police station would you like to be- in the pjs or in an english station?
September 28th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
Stevo 296- the nanny you refer to. Is that the Childminder/nanny from Mark Warner or has the Mcs nanny from back home been tracked down?

Gerald Ford had some difficulty in being able to fart and chew gum. Is there something strange about having Gerald as a name? We should be told…

274 brandonflours,
The Woman’s Own interview was the one where Kate said she would rather know Madeleine was dead than live the rest of her life in the limbo of unknowing. Reports of it are online.

I respect your opinion.
I don’t even rule out an abduction although it’s not my preferred theory. What really aggravates me is the attitude of the McCanns and the way they impede the real investigation and throw a smokescreen over issues that are so simple.
I see no reason why an interview hasn’t been conducted to give a true and accurate timeline. The nanny was a witness but she had no problem telling the press what happened that night did she?
So, as other witnesses are the other members of the Tapas 9, why are they not as forthcoming as the nanny?
Jeremy Wilkins came forward with his version of that night and he surely was a vital witness as he spoke to Gerry.
See what I mean? The secrecy law thing is too weak and feeble to fall back on.
Why?
September 28th, 2007 at 2:33 pm
Would love to believe that Madeleine was abducted. At least there would be hope. Is there any real evidence of this? Show me the evidence????

Who asked about Tony Bennett? I would guess he’s one of the many ambulance chasers haunting all the forums looking for cases.
*******************************
For heaven’s sake Immoderation that’s rich coming from the likes of you! ‘Ambulance Chaser’? And pray tell how do you distinguish yourself from this grouping?
I don’t believe I have ever before in my life met such a pompous pedantic self-righteous narcissistic arse.
On second thought, are you sure you’re not Gerry McCann?

Yep, missing a child temporarily takes a back seat to being eliminated from the enquiries. Get your priorities right Gerry!

Could someone please re-post the link to the plan of the McCann’s apartment?
Thanks….

I think the police being investigated internally is manna from heaven for the McCanns. It’s just more to deflect from themselves and the more the merrier.
Ok, there’s some corrupt police. You know what? We all know there’s SOME corrupt police. There’s corrupt police in every country. Nothing new in that.
Corrupt police or not. Do you really think if they are corrupt and they had Madeleine’s body that they wouldn’t release it so they could implicate the parents for whatever reason? I think corrupt police having anything to do with the disappearance is the least likely situation.

Blame the PJ
Blame the police forces of every other country on the planet
Blame too much media coverage
Blame too little media coverage
Blame everybody and everthing except the precious, fragrant couple themselves…

Good god the fund has increased again to £1,041,697.60, there must be an huge profit margin in those wrist bands + bank interest of course
September 28th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
Gerry blog day144- Kate and I have been very busy with our legal advisors as we want to be eliminated from the enquiry as soon as possible and start concentrating wholeheartedly again on the search for our daughter.
Until they are eliminated does this mean their search for Madeleine has took a back seat? How and when are they hoping to be eliminated ? They haven’t been charged and could be aguidos for a very long time. If they believe Madeleine is in the hands of abductors and is alive, isn’t every day that she is being held vital? As parents of an alleged abducted child, wouldn’t every minute the child is in that situation be a minute too long. Wouldn’t or shouldn’t the priority be to leave “no stone unturned” in the search for her ,not eliminating themselves from the enquiry. What help is that to Madeleine?
September 28th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
Stevo, I’ve always said over and over, I am not pro-McCann, I am pro the abduction theory. That’s it really. I can’t fit any of it into the time line and I can’t see any logic in the scenarios offered. IMO of course.
If there had been a day unaccounted for prior to her disappearance then I may think differently, but to be able to concoct something so complex in such a short space of time? And when they talked about moving the body 25 days later I was sure that that couldn’t have happened. again IMO!!

276.
Stevo,
It’s noble to attempt reasonsing with Immoderation but it’s probably hopeless. Not that it is your fault at all. This person is hell bent on discrediting anyone who brings up criticisms of the McCanns and is constantly shouting that it’s all innuendo, gossip and heresay. Yet Immoderation is, like Gerry M, a golden child - very special Immoderation believes him/herself to be.
Immoderation doesn’t understand that he/she/it is just like you and me - acquiring their information from the very same news sources. Yet somehow his/her/its assessment of the investigation are spot on and can be substantiated because he/she/it reads a cross section of hard copies each and every day and then absorbs the news and is able to magickally disgest it, transumute it and then offer us perfection.
Basically what Immoderation is offering us is some very special poo.

Gareth, what is the definition of theft? (just checking and you’ll know what I mean!!)
September 28th, 2007 at 2:24 pm
In general:
It is not breaking any secrecy laws to answer simple questions.
It is not breaking any secrecy laws for the McCanns to have told a newspaper what happened that evening. If so, then how could they even tell anyone their child is missing? Surely even that would be breaking a secrecy law?
The secrecy surely would apply to material evidence and not circumstances of the disappearance. Otherwise, you’d have to go to the police, tell them what happened, and then walk away with your mouth shut. Clearly that would be stupid. Clearly Kate and Gerry chose to say what they chose to say - depending on how it suited them. They always fall back on this secrecy law thing and frankly I don’t buy that.

Can anyone tell me
have they dug up that church yet?
have they found the priest?
Also in America a lady pretended to be in the twin towers on 9/11
became a campainer …….faked a dead fiance………..
not for compensation it appears but for symathy and the rush of being seen as a campainer
Interesting……………

a bit about the trusty pj’s
Sylvi Trembath Said:
How is it that the Portuguese Police focus on the McCann family when there is more reason to suspect the own corruption?
Goncalo Amaral and four other Portuguese police officers were recently charged with offences relating to the inquiry into the disappearance of Joana Cipriano from a village seven miles from where Madeleine was abducted.
Portugal’s Ministerio Publico, the district attorney, confirmed that it had charged three police officers with torture, a fourth with omission of evidence and a fifth with falsification of documents. It did not reveal who had been charged with which offence.
Despite the charges, Mr Amaral, the co-ordinator of the Policia Judiciaria in Portimao, has not been suspended from working on the Madeleine investigation - How crazy is that!!!
Did we ever get an explanation as to why these Police Officers did what they did to the Cipriano family, apart from wanting her to confess?
And why haven’t the five Police Officers been placed under the suspect status, As their behaviour is very strange ?
Do these Police Officers have anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance? Nothing would surprise me the way this investigation is going!

I read today that the McCanns feel stifled because they’ve been threatened with jail for talking about the case.
If as you say, they were bound by secrecy from day 1 as witnesses, then why are they only just saying this? Surely there was no point them even staying in PDL if they were not allowed to say anything from day 1.

I understand your point but don’t agree with it.
For instance, if it was so vitally important for them to not say anything then how come as soon as Kate was made an arguido (where a higher degree of secrecy was required than just a witness), she gave details of the interview to Aunt Philomena?
I read your posts and detect that you’re very much pro-McCann but like I said above, pro-McCanns never have valid answers to fundamental questions. They just keep pouring out more smoke to add to the big smokescreen already there.
Secrecy does not preclude a parent from answering “no” to a question “did you sedate your children”. You know it and I know it.
September 28th, 2007 at 2:16 pm
I am asking a lot of questions of the McCanns because I don’t like their attitude to their children’s safety and I don’t like their story of how their 4 year old disappeared.
But I also don’t like Auntie Phil being lambasted for the way she looks.
I know many of you feel it is her place to have a small waist, large breasts and long blonde hair but do you have to keep bringing that belief into this forum?
PS - carry on lambasting her for her blind faith in her brother’s C&B story of course, please do.
