Madeleine McCann: Spies, Richard Branson PI And Maddy TV
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. SPY-IN-SKY PLAN TO FIND HER KIDNAPPER.”
So she was kidnapped. Wasn’t she?
“Satellite and aerial footage as well as internet traffic should be used to help the hunt,” say “intelligence experts”, including Professor Anthony Glees, Director of Brunel University’s Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies. Security is his thing.
Pages 4 and 5: “Riddle of the McCanns’ day out” – Why did the McCanns go to Spain on August 3 and what did they do there? Clarence Mitchell says the TV cameras and journalists tracked their every move.
“Branson: They are innocent” – Richard Branson PI calls it a “grotesque nightmare”. He has donated £100,000 to help the McCanns clear their name. He says the McCanns have “the weight and support of Britain behind them”.
THE SUN front page: “OUTRAGE AS COPS CLAIM MADDIE ‘BURIED IN SPAIN’.”
Pages 6 and 7: “POLICE PROBE LOST 2 HOURS” – Police Claim the McCanns buried Madeleine during a “missing two hours” in Spain.
Kate and Gerry are “shattered”.
Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”
Page 5: “They suffered a devastating blow with the false alarm in Morocco. Kate has crashed.”
“COPS PROBE SPAIN TRIP.”
DAILY STAR pages 6 and 7: “MADDIE DUMPED IN SPAIN.” An “exclusive”.
THE TIMES page 16: Mick Hume says: “The line between investigation and emotive entertainment has disappeared.”
THE TELEGRAPH page 6: “Portuguese focus on McCanns’ Spain trip” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns are innocent.
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: no Madeleine news today.

I forgot to add a question to my last reply to you.
Why do you say that a refrigerator ice box is too small to hide a body? We all know that she couldn’t have been hidden in the room because the police would have searched it all. I don’t get your point because if a freezer was used then it wouldn’t be as you described. So, I don’t understand why you said it. It would be like saying the spare wheel well in a car boot is too small to hide a body as well.

417- i thought there was two priest which one of them was anglican

‘Why don’t the McCanns ever use the media to send Madeleine messages of love, courage and hope?’
Her mother does. Constantly. With ‘CUDDLECAT’.
I suspect that’s why she always has it, in a hand or very obviously sticking out of a bag so the cameras can see it. The McCanns know their images are constantly on TV/in papers, in many countries. Madeleine could see her Mummy sending a very powerful non-verbal message, much better than mere words!

So their religious beliefs would have allowed them to dump the body anywhere. (I’m not implying that it’s ok for Catholics to dump bodies here - just that where ever her final resting place is not an issue) Meaning she could be anywhere from the water to another country.
I was under the impression they started seeing an ‘Anglican’ (sp?) preist at some point. Even leaving the twins with him. Not the same religion is it?

I agree with you on that. Refrigerator ice-boxes are way too small. But my theory isn’t that. I only said it IS possible to store a body for a long time in a freezer.

407. She has been vile to me before. I don’t think it was a step too far - I loath her forum persona and if she’s like that in real life she must be unbearable.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:05 pm
410-
what makes you think they are then?
September 28th, 2007 at 4:05 pm
379. Sure it’s the job of PJ but just like parents (well at least good parents) teach their children even though the children go to school and they pay teachers to teach their children - similarly is the idea that any normal grieving parents of a missing child would do whatever was needed to find their kid. Most parents would have a very strong desire and a love so strong they would have to take serious action. Simply because the police are also looking would not preclude a normal parent from doing so.
Another reason why some of us focus on what the McCanns do and do not do is simply due to what the McCanns claim they are going to do and then they renege on those plans without any follow up explaining as to why.

you may as well email russell as you all might learn something you dont know.
then again you will all still argue you’re right
September 28th, 2007 at 4:03 pm
290,
sorry but regardless of the fact that every police force has its share of rogue cops those who are actuallycharged with corruption over a previous missing child’s case should not then be working on any future missing child cases, they should be suspended or fired.
I came across this site, the articles are a bit lengthy by David Rose from the Daily Mail is of particular interest. Have a look if you have the time.

Glad to see someone using Hate Monger as a username, very appropriate.

403. I might think it - but I don’t know it - that’s the point of discussion.
Things don’t add up, so we list them, everyone gives an opinion, we might come to a conclusion that gets rid of the inconsistencies.
Obviously, we’re not the police, we’re going on hearsay and all that - but I can’t help being curious about it. It is a girl’s life - and it wouldn’t be human not to wonder what happened to the poor thing.

PS: I now lecture in acute medicine at the old poly here - it comes in quite handy when the sedation goes wrong (just joking!).

361 - Maura
Here’s a video from June after the McCanns went to Morrocco.
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91210-1270046,00.html
So Kate looked less than dolled up eh?
And look at their reaction after being asked “do you still think Madeleine is still alive”. AMAZING….
September 28th, 2007 at 3:59 pm
Maura… I’m with you….
But ignore the abuse is something that goes with NOT running with the crowd.
I’m surprised at Karen though. 354 Thats a step too far and unnecessary…… IMO of course!! .
Stevo, the ice-box in those apartments is just that. A small box at the top of the refridgerator. Unless madeleine was the size of a box of 6 burgers then no, she wouldn’t fit.
September 28th, 2007 at 3:58 pm
Interesting discussion here.
By the way, if anyone wants to ask me about the pharmacology of sedation, on whcih I lectured at Leicester in 2003, here’s my current email address in Exeter:

Here’s another way to look at this.
Consider this whole pantomime as two acts. (I’m in karen-putting-on-a-play mode now).
Act 1 is all about what happened before the PR machine was mobilised. Act 2 is the post-PR machine period, which started when Sky were called I suppose. Now it’s pretty clear that Act 2 has had its problems in getting the right message across. “PR Disaster” is the phrase in one of the Anorak threads. So all the lies and obvious mistakes made in Act 2 are largely down to the PR machine itself. But in Act 1 there was no PR machine, so they were on their own. Whatever they did in Act 1 they seemed to pull it off and got away with their story (in the media) for some time before being made suspects. So did they have a script and rehearsals for Act 1? I have thought up to now that it was an accident and cover-up. I’m now thinking it was all premeditated and there was no abduction.
No audio of Maddie. Very strange. Did she suffer from some speech impediment? Was she abused to the point of not speaking? She was clearly very small for her age. Any pics of her eating? …Contd P 94.
I’ll get me guitar case…
September 28th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
Did any of the Tapas 9 have a hire car at the time Madeleine was”abducted”?.
The scent of death was detected at one of the Wine&Crime 9’s apartment.
They could have stored the body there and dump it under a bridge the next day.
25 days later the Perfect Parents put the corpse in their car to give Madeleine a “proper burial”.

if you think the mccanns are innocent -
what is your point of discussion here?
September 28th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
397 - Murder
You’re welcome. I noticed in those good photos that the passageways may well be the ones spoken of by Jeremy Wilkins. If so, it’s clear that nobody could walk by without being noticed.

I think it’s very ironic that the first ever UK conviction on DNA evidence was the murderer in Leicester….just down the road from Rothley!
September 28th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
385. That’s completely okay. Maura likes giving rim jobs and is probably looking for some scotch to brush her teeth with before she answers each and every one of my sincere questions.
September 28th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
384. Firestar. I am actually.
Maura, is so bloody self-righteous she bugs me - and as I have said plenty of things in Kate and Gerry’s favour - as well as said I would campaign for them if I thought their trial (should it happen) was unfair or a fix (which I meant sincerely) - I don’t think I deserved the sarky comment.
September 28th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
342, Stevo,
I also had that feeling, as though she’d been given away. There was also the remark about hoping she was with a family who could not have children, if she’d been stolen to order. But when you start picking over everything they have ever reportedly said, it all starts to sound odd.
September 28th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
That’s great, Stevo - many thanks.

Sounds feasible. I don’t know the area because I’ve never been but there’s lots of cliffs on photos I see of the resort and area. I’m sure anything would be pounded by the sea there. I don’t know what the sea is like there but I guess it’s quite strong because it’s not Mediterranean there is it? I’m assuming there’s quite a tide.

ADE!!!
“535 360 361
Small body in freezer doesn’t have to be in one piece either…”
And the smallest pinhole could leak bodily fluids as it thawed in the boot of the car. I had thought one of the T7 had a larger freezer but if they actually cut up her little body…
September 28th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
I hope the McCann’s did not hear the same wild homily that we heard, from the visiting Jesuit presbyter that “there are multiple realities.”
September 28th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
368.
I don’t believe a child who has not yet taken Holy Communion would need to have last rites and all of the RC burial traditions.
I’ve never heard of the McCanns chanring religions only Gerry saying he wasn’t devout until Madeleine vanished.
September 28th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
I think that its important that although DNA evidence is now being used to link crimes over 30 years old, it is not admissable as evidence when it might incriminate upper middle calss high earners. Additionally sniffer dogs may only be used when in pursuit of real criminals such as those who are eligble for child tax credits (real criminals are never Doctors - apart from Shipman and a few others who werent really Doctors, as they didnt do private medicine).
I just thought that ought to be straightened out.
Incidentally, why did the ‘Find Madeleine’ team arrange for the Mccanns to go to a closed down town? Hopeless - I think I’d do a better job - I wonder when Clarence will get ditched - for a media expert he is pretty crap isnt he?
September 28th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
and the mcs truly believe they are untouchable i think.
a mistake a lot of psycho’s make.
so there.
