Madeleine McCann: Spies, Richard Branson PI And Maddy TV
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. SPY-IN-SKY PLAN TO FIND HER KIDNAPPER.”
So she was kidnapped. Wasn’t she?
“Satellite and aerial footage as well as internet traffic should be used to help the hunt,” say “intelligence experts”, including Professor Anthony Glees, Director of Brunel University’s Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies. Security is his thing.
Pages 4 and 5: “Riddle of the McCanns’ day out” – Why did the McCanns go to Spain on August 3 and what did they do there? Clarence Mitchell says the TV cameras and journalists tracked their every move.
“Branson: They are innocent” – Richard Branson PI calls it a “grotesque nightmare”. He has donated £100,000 to help the McCanns clear their name. He says the McCanns have “the weight and support of Britain behind them”.
THE SUN front page: “OUTRAGE AS COPS CLAIM MADDIE ‘BURIED IN SPAIN’.”
Pages 6 and 7: “POLICE PROBE LOST 2 HOURS” – Police Claim the McCanns buried Madeleine during a “missing two hours” in Spain.
Kate and Gerry are “shattered”.
Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”
Page 5: “They suffered a devastating blow with the false alarm in Morocco. Kate has crashed.”
“COPS PROBE SPAIN TRIP.”
DAILY STAR pages 6 and 7: “MADDIE DUMPED IN SPAIN.” An “exclusive”.
THE TIMES page 16: Mick Hume says: “The line between investigation and emotive entertainment has disappeared.”
THE TELEGRAPH page 6: “Portuguese focus on McCanns’ Spain trip” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns are innocent.
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: no Madeleine news today.

My own theory re the freezer was that I would use a portable freezer running off gas cylinders or a car battery, which could be kept inside a car permanently, if , heaven forbid, I was ever in a situation where I needed to hide a body. They are widely available from camping supply shops and nobody would be suspicious of anyone buying such an item in a warm climate like the Algarve.

471, he finishes with the line “Time to die”, how apt in this case.

Warm - no. My wife checked into it - 5 degrees celsius or less. To prevent serious and odoriferous decomposition at warmer than 5 deg you would have to do what the Egyptians did - remove the brain, guts and internal organs and dessicate the rest. Another reason why the PJ are nuts.

457, you say,
“As doctors, if any of them had a surgeon’s kit or a decent knife (sorry this is sickening but more bizarre things have happened) any one of them could have embalmed her. It doesn’t take much more than common sense and with a medical background it would easy technically and emotionally. Process time for a small child would be one hour.”
You are kidding, right??? LOL. I hate the LOL abbreviation but I just have to use it regarding 457.

Karen, I’ll go find it, hold on, it’s like the Daily Mail or something? (I don’t know all of your newspapers). But ALL of them repeat the bad stuff from the Portugese. It’s not like you have to be fluent in Portugese to get all this so-called “Evidence” (mostly rumor and innuendo) against the McCanns.

I disagree. There are plenty of photos and videos of Madeleine with toys or full length pictures of her. They haven’t picked just facial photos.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
Yeah, I’m sorry, the freezer theory is dotty. (Isn’t dotty an English word meaning “crazy”? We certainly don’t use it here in the States).
September 28th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
460. Krissie. Name and shame the unpatriotic British Papers that dare to be anti-Kate?
September 28th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
richard branson + jez wilkins (film producer) + not very convincing actors (tapas 9) = very big world wide cluedo stunt - ala Sir R. Branson of the millionaires game playing club. Little girl is probably having the time of her life hidden in Hawaii…

450. At least Rutger Hauer’s Blade Runner character understood truth and beauty when he saw it.

#411 nononethere. You scored a good clean point regarding my post (182) above, but the last sentence on your post has just shot the ball straight into your own net.

Took the body to Spain on 3 Aug, 2 missing hours, so they must have done it then - I disappeared from the radar this morning - was having a quiet read of the papers rather than working, so I must have disposed of any number of bodies.Right.
This was after the car was returned to them after DNA testing- traditionalists thought it all a bit odd that the car was not held in a sterile environment after the tests given how important the DNA evidence found was said to be - but the Anorakers saw the return of the car as genius - the PJ had obviously plannted a tracking device - but evidently not, they are searching motor CCTVs to try and work out where the Doctors went - no tracking device then
For he PJ to be even comtemplating this nonsense (if the source is to be believed on yet another leak) shows how weak the evidence supporting their other theories must be, or else how vast their overtime budget is.
Eeither that, or else it must be that the PJ will explore any theory, no matter how far fetched to convict the Doctors McCann, surely not
September 28th, 2007 at 4:27 pm
And no, I haven’t made up my mind. I have no idea whether the McCanns are guilty. I’ve seen no evidence either way. BUt, guess what, NEITHER HAVE YOU!

We don’t know. But if a freezer was used then it may help to find it. Perhaps we should launch a FIND THE FREEZER USED TO STORE MADELEINE fund in order to help find it?
You talk daft at the best of times.

441 Ben - Is English your first language?
September 28th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
444 the usual mcsarcasm then from a pro - typical!, why do you even bother? debates are here to give everyone a fair say in their opinions of the case. do you have anything to actually add to the debate? if not then why dont you just pop off and have a coffee with your friends K&G, as im sure they dont have many friends and would welcome you!
September 28th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
Veres, what does your opinion of the McCanns personalities/mannerisms have to do with anything, please?
September 28th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
453. Krissie. What and you haven’t already made up your mind?
And if you’ve got the real evidence, you better get it down the station then.

‘why are there no photos (to my knowledge) of Madeleine with cuddle cat?’
There is one photo that has Madeleine and what I make out to be cuddlecat. She is not cuddling it though! It is hanging on the ?kitchen wall behind her. That would probably indicate it was a toy that was used to some extent at least.
The photos we have been shown have been selected, I believe, to show us Madeleine’s FACE, not for any human/emotional interest we may have in Madeleine.

If you, like most biased McCann believers would read properly, you will notice that in post 416 - I say that my theory is NOT that Madeleine was stored in the freezer.
Read properly before making stupid postings. All I said was that it was possible to store a body in a freezer…and NOT the freezer in the room.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:25 pm
I read everything out there. The British press being “on her side” because she’s pretty is no more reasonable than people on here using this, repeatedly, as evidence of her guilt (see hundreds of statements over several months that Kate is “too well put together” to be suffering from real grief).
In addition, I’m not British, but I’ve been reading all the British press on this, and although I agree several British media are on the McCanns side, there are several who are NOT. IT’s not like the “evidence” against the McCanns, from the Portugese, doesnt’ get repeated infinitely in the British press.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:24 pm
449,
apparently they were using sniffer dogs all over the resort. So where was this obscure freezer then, so obscure that a British tourist was able to spot it in time to hold a dead body.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:24 pm
444 krissie
I really don’t find katiepoos sexually attractive in any way. She’s far too skinny and has the personality of a wet blanket. Cuddle Cat and Auntie Phil have twice as much personality.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:24 pm
416. As doctors, if any of them had a surgeon’s kit or a decent knife (sorry this is sickening but more bizarre things have happened) any one of them could have embalmed her. It doesn’t take much more than common sense and with a medical background it would easy technically and emotionally. Process time for a small child would be one hour.
Rotting meat in the boot takes on whole new meaning. I immediately thought that excuse was ludicrious and a more probable (extremely sinister) explanation was the disposal of human internal organs.
As far as the oceans tides. We’d have to get a map which details the Mediterranean tides along Portugal which change according to several factors - seasons and water temperature being the major influences (I think).
There is absolutely no guarantee though that even if the tides were conducive to a body being returned to shore that it would do so. This is because one has to take into consideration that it can take several months or years for something to return to the shoreline and more likely is the consumption of the body by sea life.
I’m not sure though that the ocean was used for the whole body. Another poster a few weeks back lived in that area and said that due to the dangerous topography of the craggy cliffs and the fact that these cliffs have extremely deep “blow holes” anything can be hidden forever along these cliffs and often are. Locals wanting to dispose of anything they never wish to have found out use the blow holes as a natural cache to hide almost anything.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:23 pm
Well the freezer in 5a is obviously large enough for a small child. If searchers are looking for a live child that wandered off they were probably looking under the beds and in closets but not the freezer the night she went missing. And probably not looking in other apartments either.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
apparently they sold gas bottles for gas powered freezers at the complex camping shop.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
In the Elizabeth Smart case, sniffer dogs were in the same are that she and her abductors were staying and they never noticed them.
The point is, the sniffer dogs that were sent out on the night Madeleine was reported as missing could have walked right past the body.
There was a report in mid-August that the cadaver dogs spent a lot of time down by the beach. So it is a possibility that the body was hidden there for a time.
September 28th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
wait a minute– who are the flat earthers here? Funny you should bring that up. I used that analogy only a few days ago, saying the McCanns-Are-Guilty crown are about as reasonable as the evangelical Christians who insist evolution isn’t true. It doesn’t really matter what the real evidence might suggest. They’ve already made up their minds!
September 28th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
436. Krissie, all those things are the reasons why the British press are on her side. Do you only read this forum or something?
September 28th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
435,
Perhaps the PJ’s see themselves as the next Quentin Tarantinos. I am just waiting to hear when all off the UK are declared argidos.
