A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.

As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”

547. Let us get real.
The McCanns are totally responsible for the public outcries in support or critical of them.
If they didn’t wish to be sujected to scrutiny (much deserved imho as the media isn’t doing so great at doing what they are supposed to do) then they never should have decided on a PR campaign, starting a limited company in their daughter’s name, trademarking Madeleine’s name and a design featuring her colomba and a whole host of other really stupid callous ludicrous things the McCanns have decided to do instead of looking for their daughter and speaking about their daughter to the public like normal grieving parents of an alleged abducted 3 year old girl.
They don’t even have the love for her to admit guilt in having left Madeleine and the twins alone night after night when on holiday. Not even a room monitor which as a free service at the resort. They were totally okay with dropping the kids off at the creche everyday - strangers mind you. Yet when asked why they hadn’t opted for a sitter in the evening or even leaving the kids at the crech into the evening kates’ reply was something about not wanting to leave her children with “strangers”? This comment was made on tv. Unless the electronic media is cutting, splicing and redubbing Kate’s words I have to believe her statement as fact.
At the end of the day if the McCanns are being sacked in public it is their own fault for making themselves public personalities whilst weakly claiming it’s “All about MAdeleine”.
Not much has been about Madeleine. It’s all been about damage control for a very controlling high maintenance greedy man, Gerry McCann. From watching the interviews it appears to me Kate may be an abused wife. She rarely looks directly into the camera and she frequently will not answer a simple direct question put to her by a reporter. She instead sits demurely and Gery immediately answers for the both of them. As if Kate were a brainless twit.

The latest lurid unfounded allegation claimed that the little girl died in a “fatal and mysterious hour and a half” on the night she went missing and that her body may have been stored in a fridge.
Kate and Gerry McCann have dismissed the latest claims made against them
The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell said such reports caused real pain and hurt and urged: “Surely it is time for this to stop?”
He spoke out after it was claimed that the four-year-old died on May 3 in the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz before her parents went for dinner at a nearby tapas restaurant with friends.
Detectives are said to be working on the theory that the couple, who are formal suspects in the case, accidentally killed their daughter and covered it up - a claim strenuously denied by them.
Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias claimed that between 7pm and 8.30pm - while Mr McCann was playing tennis - neither Madeleine nor Mrs McCann were seen.

It said police believed this was when the girl died and that her body allegedly “passed through various locations” before eventually being put in the boot of the couple’s hire car and dumped.
The newspaper said Portuguese police were “carrying out non-visible operations and locating apartments with fridges” in the Praia da Luz area.
But a source close to the McCanns dismissed the theory as “total rubbish”.
“Have you seen the size of the fridges in those apartments?” he said.
“Of course they did not stuff her in a fridge.” Referring to the “lost” 90 minutes, the source added: “Kate was not in the apartment alone with Madeleine.

I’ll say, I think that is extremely UNLIKELY, given the public eye that has been on them for going on five months now… If the public glare had been on Jeff Dahmer for five months before he was charged and arrested, I guarantee (absolutely) we would have already dug up some nasty nasty nasty stuff in his past (and in his freezer).
But that was not the case, with the cases you mention. NONE of those murderers you mention had the kind of public attention focused on them PRIOR to the arrest. If Kate were as mentally ill as you suggest, she would surely have cracked by now.
In addition, what you guys are suggesting is NOT just one person with a secret and with a more-or-less undercover mental illness. No. You are suggesting NINE people involved in this (or, at the very least, two — k and g plus a few of the 7 friends). So you’re telling me NINE people with no obvious mental illness, NINE law-abiding citizens, NINE decent human beings, all of them are suffering from narcissistic personality disorder, or some other kind of mental illness that would allow them to take part in a murder, butcher and cover up of a 4-year-old’s death? Do you not hear how crazy that is?
As for the British press suppression of online forums, I’m afraid I haven’t heard about that, but yes, I would find that to be a bad thing. But I certainly wouldn’t find it as evidence of the McCann’s guilt. Please note I have not argued when you state that the British press is pro-McCann. I would largely agree. I’m just saying, there’s plenty of information out there. (Most of it, of course, is bad information, but there’s plenty of it out there on both sides of the aisle).

#647 Krissie. You are right. Of course you are. They might be innocent (except for neglect, IMO) or they might be guilty. We are discussing that. Just because questions and theories are being raised does not mean that people who ask them should be referred to in the derogatory terms you use.
I doubt the McCanns non-involvement. However, I would be delighted to be proven wrong. Do my doubts and questions really mean that I am part of a herd of ’starving, slobbering jackals’?
As a journalist I would have expected you to have an open and questioning mind yourself. Does this make you a jackal too?

547. Horror and evil? All anyone is doing is asking questions. The timeline is a bit odd, their use of P.R. has reached a disproportionate scale.
The British press are on their side, they’ll stay on their side, unless or until some major (and it would have to be major) piece of evidence is produced and even then, some one is always going to argue that they didn’t do it.
I think you’re too locked into the internet - things are not that grim for them (except that Madeleine is gone).

Please read up on Narcissistic Personality Disorder or read about Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer. They held jobs and people close to them and observing them thought them perfectly normal - even charming.
After that read about John Wayne Gacy a respected businessman who was also a serial killer.
Anyway, journalists are always working with speculation and people will always discuss high profile cases. You failed to mention how strange it is that the government has been involved in this case - why? You’ve also (amazingly especially since you are a journalist) failed to bring up the attack on freedom of speech and civil liberties by UK government on bloggers and others who have openly expressed their opinions on this investigation. I would think freedom of speech would be something you would hold near and dear? And then there are still those handful of questions I asked which you and the others refuse to answer?

I think the evidence as presented and confirmed here in theories do point to the parents. These friends may be sticking together for the sake of loyalty and believing that the McCanns are innocent. I trust the sniffer dogs - it is one thing to not find a scent and another to find so much. What is an outrage is that the McCanns are upping the ante all the time trying to win this case by spin and money. Pathetic.

Karen, no, you can’t legally convict them, but you sure can contribute to what may be a really horrible smear campaign. Consider, for a moment, the possibility that they are NOT guilty. Can you imagine what level of horror and evil you are contributing to, then?
I’m not saying they are innocent. I don’t know. I see no evidence either way, because the public has seen no evidence at all that is reliable. But if they ARE innocent, and I think it’s POSSIBLE they are innocent, then it makes me absolutely SICK the way people have turned on them like this. It’s really weird to me, it seems to me like a herd of starving, slobbering jackals so eager to see evidence where there is none.
