A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”

About that 100 day video…
In it the McCann’s say that other people should not stop enjoying themselves because of Maddie’s abduction, “that’s the way it is supposed to be.” And that the twins give them great joy.
If I thought my daughter had been abducted, then I would assume a possibility exists that she might someday return. What would she think, hearing that video? Afterall, if “they” took her, she is experiencing unspeakable evil.
Other considerations. The interview was given at the time the public first started going against the parents. By that point, the media campaign was giving them a sense of accomplishment and success.

734 Portia - oh my what an interview. Does Kate seem to be breathing rapidly? Gerry touches his nose often, both shake heads no, Kate more times, but really the last question posed, and I gasped when I saw Kate’s reaction - What would you say to Madeleine now - Kate smiled, smirked, turned away - softly replies that she loves her but Madeleine knows that already.
Ohhhhh…….my…..I know what I would say to my kidnapped daughter.to begin with:I love you and miss you and Mommy is going to find you.
Oh, but she would know that already wouldn’t she?

Thanks for sharing I am sorry that you and Stevo, LL Cool J and Krissie (although she likes her special NPD person)
have all had to experience the depravity and vampirism of an NPD. It truly is so draining on the soul.
I had so many “aha!” moments when I finally got away from mine. The NPD smoke and mirrors routine was hypnotic and me being so gullible and open-hearted (at the time) made me blind to the real facts about him. I;m certain it’s even harder to discern fact from fiction with a parent.
We really can start a thread on the Anorak forum.
I don’t know if anyone else experienced this but after my relationship ended with the NPD sicko and I realised he was the one in need of help not me I started educating myself on this disorder (not too well known at the time). But I felt conflicted not for having been foolish enough to be friends with and then fall in love with this vampire but that years later I am still studying and learning about NPD.
Isn’t that just what he would want!

I think that you get that in any capitol or large city. I’ve encountered so many nationalities in NYC or London. They usually turn the place into mini-versions of where they’re from and I like that diversity.

You got that right. My father was rushed to hospital last November with cancer. He had to have a kidney removed and part of his lung. I went to see him - 1st time in 4 years out of compassion and to do the humanitarian thing. Within weeks of that visit he was his old self…allowed me to get back in…praised me…made me out to be the prodigal son etc. Then he systematically wanted to chew me out and rubbish me to everyone. Now I’m bemused why I did the compassionate thing last November…I got nothing out of it. I guess it does tell me that I’m the normal one.
As for Sicily…you’re lucky. I love the Italian islands…Sicily and Sardinia.

We’re in Apulia. Not a touristy area which has both its positives and negatives. My husband works fo the US government and his contract ends soon. We have friends in northern Italy, Sardinia and Spain so we’re trying to weigh our options as where we’ll go next.
Yes DC has a large Ethiopian population. I didn’t mean that there is an actual neighborhood of ex-pats (as there is where we live now) but that for some reason I had 4 neighbors living in separate homes who were all English. Plus I encountered Brits living in DC on a monthly basis.

Hi everyone,
Not posted much in the last few days but read the daily forums. Anonymous - I’m an ex pat living in Italy, (well Sicily) too. Stevo - I have an NPD mother. It took me a long time to realise that having my mother out of my life is better than having a mother with NPD in my life. I remember phoning her time and time again (always me that phoned, because she didn’t want to pay for the long distance call) from Italy for a chat and coming off the phone thinking, ‘I never want to speak to her again’. Sure enough, I would, and always hoped that she would be the mother I always wanted. She never was, never will be and once I accepted that, I moved on. Funnily enough, when I stopped calling her from Italy, she called for the first time in five years wanting to know why I hadn’t called! Having someone with NPD in your life is very draining.

737-Colombo- Yes, the prosecutor has all the evidence!! But it has not been released, and therefore YOU, sir, do not have it! And therefore, when you say that evidence was found in the car, HOW do you know this? Have you seen the evidence the prosecutor has in his hands? Do you think the prosecutor would tell the Police they don’t have a case without a body, if he thought their OTHER evidence (from the apartment, the car, etc) was strong enough? Obviously it is NOT strong enough to convict them, if the prosecutor says so. Why, then, do you believe you know what evidence he has,???

726 lady is there some part of the Prosecutors statement about the parents escaping justice,if the body is not found that you do not understand,in case you are in any doubt he is the person who has all of the relevant evidence.

Batman. Actually yes, I do think CNN is more reliable in this case– go look at cnn.com and see what they have reported on this case. They report official statements. Period. The other media outlets (SKY, bbc, everyone) is in a COMPETITION. I’m a journalist- I know what competition with other journalists does to you. It makes you sloppy and desperate to be the first to report ANY new news, even if it’s not reliable news. But CNN is not part of this competition- they’re not in the rat race this time- so they aren’t reporting much of the craziness (this time). I’m not saying CNN is a more reliable news organization, I’m only saying that on the MADELEINE case, they are not reporting lies and innuendo.
And yes, I am aware it’s possible the statements coming from McCann camp are also false. However, the stuff that is anonymously reported as coming from McCann camp may not ACTUALLY come from McCann camp. There’s been a lot of that around, too. There’s been VERY little official statements from them, or from the PJ. So I tend to trust both official statements from the PJ and from McCann. They are very careful about those.

Yes, I’m a Brit in the US. I found more Ethiopians living in the DC area than most other nationalities. I’m about 400 miles from there. Where in Italy? I love Italy. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Milano/Torino area.

I would also like to point out that your argument also works against you. The PJ would look so foolish, now, if it turns out all their evidence is mostly bunk, that they are REALLY invested in proving K and G did this deed… quite possibly to the detriment of the whole investigation. They REALLY need to prove this case, or look like fools, so what are they going to have to do to prove it??

What a tragic affair if she is guilty to be forever seen as the do-gooder victim.

I have NEVER ever seen that information confirmed by official statements. It has been repeated over and over and over again in various newspapers, but the PJ has NEVER confirmed that. That is exactly the type of false/misleading information I’m talking about. We do NOT know what evidence was found in the car. We do NOT know how closely it matched Maddie. We do NOT know what type of fluid it was. We do NOT know if it was from a corpse or a live body. we know NONE Of that as fact, we only know it as rumor/innuendo. In fact, remember for a week or so,t here was a huge ruckus about finding HUGE gobs of Madeleine’s hair in the boot? And remember how , soon after, it was reported that really it was just a few strands?
So your point is not valid.

I’m from the US but am currently living in Italy. We’re considering moving to Spain but are not sure yet.
Are you an ex-pat living in the US? I used to be surrounded by Brits when I lived in Wash, DC. I am not sure why but there are a lot of Brits there and even more Anglophiles.
Nice neighbors though with really nice gardens too.

#714 - krissie. I don’t believe that the official statements from the McCanns can possibly be considered as facts. For example, Gerry McCann’s ‘intruder in flat’ statement. Is this a fact? “The McCanns are happy to take a lie detector test.” Fact?
And am I reading this right - are you suggesting that CNN is in some way a more reliable source than say Sky News which is extremely biased and selective about what it choses to broadcast.
You are right to caution about confusing fact and fiction but I don’t think there are that many in here who profess to knowing anything more than what we are being fed by the media.

anonymous- granted. Yes, I do think it’s a bit strange they’d go off and leave sean and amelie after all that, but different parents are different. I would personally *probably* not have left my other children… But. I also would not have left my kids in the apartment in the first place on May 3. But I know parents who would do this type of thing (in fact, nothing bad usually happens, and I always worry that I’m too much of a WORRYING parent and have some envy of parents who dont’ worry so much). And, actually, I have to say, if one of my children went missing and I needed to take some trips to help find them, and my other two children were just 2 years old, I might consider leaving them with my mother, or someone I deeply trust, because 2-year-olds are really very difficult creatures. I don’t know who Kate and Gerry left them with. But I would leave them with my mother, or perhaps my husband’s mother, because I trust them absolutely. No one else, but my mom, she’s got an alarm system.

Krissie, the facts that exist in this case can only be known by the people that were there. Any statement made thereafter, unless under oath, could be construed as fictional. The posters have an entitlement to their point of view, without malice.
However, the fact remains that there has been no direct admission that leaving the children alone was wrong. I have said before, that these people could withdraw now, from this media circus, although I suspect this will happen anyway, as a natural consequence of the fickle (mainly British) public being more interested in ‘where has my donation gone’? ‘how many starving children would this money help?’
There would be no greater gesture to the public than to withdraw from the public spotlight, continue (or start) a vigorous campaign to find the missing child, and dismiss all of the McCann plc. organisation that now exists.Show true Christian values by giving away all of the money, selling their house to fund the continuing search and become missionaries as penance for their (perceived) sins?
I am speechless at the never ending contradicitions from all camps. A PR manager is too much.. Do they want forgiveness? Acceptance?Encouuragement? Money?
