Madeleine McCann: Spies, Richard Branson PI And Maddy TV
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. SPY-IN-SKY PLAN TO FIND HER KIDNAPPER.”
So she was kidnapped. Wasn’t she?
“Satellite and aerial footage as well as internet traffic should be used to help the hunt,” say “intelligence experts”, including Professor Anthony Glees, Director of Brunel University’s Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies. Security is his thing.
Pages 4 and 5: “Riddle of the McCanns’ day out” – Why did the McCanns go to Spain on August 3 and what did they do there? Clarence Mitchell says the TV cameras and journalists tracked their every move.
“Branson: They are innocent” – Richard Branson PI calls it a “grotesque nightmare”. He has donated £100,000 to help the McCanns clear their name. He says the McCanns have “the weight and support of Britain behind them”.
THE SUN front page: “OUTRAGE AS COPS CLAIM MADDIE ‘BURIED IN SPAIN’.”
Pages 6 and 7: “POLICE PROBE LOST 2 HOURS” – Police Claim the McCanns buried Madeleine during a “missing two hours” in Spain.
Kate and Gerry are “shattered”.
Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”
Page 5: “They suffered a devastating blow with the false alarm in Morocco. Kate has crashed.”
“COPS PROBE SPAIN TRIP.”
DAILY STAR pages 6 and 7: “MADDIE DUMPED IN SPAIN.” An “exclusive”.
THE TIMES page 16: Mick Hume says: “The line between investigation and emotive entertainment has disappeared.”
THE TELEGRAPH page 6: “Portuguese focus on McCanns’ Spain trip” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns are innocent.
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: no Madeleine news today.

Rosemary… I think its the chinese whispers thing that makes it so hard for everyone on either side of the divide to sort fact from fiction.

I am not sure Matty, but Toni mentioned her and she is in South Africa, so possibly she is South African?

do Team McC do telphone polling following a ‘press release’ or do they just rely on whats written on this site?

SSS - the reading is actually going quite well. It’s 3 English lit books (which I find quite easy) and 1 philosophy book (which is really hard going) and I finished the political book (which I nearly died during).
The Real Stig - don’t you worry about the sheer scale of the publicity that the McCanns are inviting in? It’s way more than is needed to make us remember Madeleine - and a lot of it is focused on them.
I’ve said before, I don’t know what they’d do with the body, so they’re probably innocent - but does anyone seriously think their reactions are in any way completely normal? And don’t you think Gerry is exploiting Madeleine (even sub-consciously) to give himself a public profile/platform?

SSS- Deborah Ann Quimby still missing. Can’t find anything for the child missing 4/5/94. Do you know which country they are missing from.

Conspiracy buffs will love this. May 3, 2007
“The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence announces plans to release their UFO files to the public, seven weeks after France’s space agency CNES opened its UFO files to the public.”
It was an alien abduction, straight out of the X-Files. Where’s Fox Mulder when he’s needed?

‘I would like to make it clear that on May 3rd the McCanns DID contact the police immediately after they discovered Maddie was missing.
Ever mindful of their duty as well educated individuals they then contacted Sky news at an appropriate point during the search for their daughter, because it was World Press Freedom Day.
Having been in portugal for 6 days they had learnt of a little known tradition of ‘Key asking’ whereby the number of people who contact the local preist asking for keys to the church is monitored by the Portugeuse Government and rewarded by tax rebates to the local community. Loacl communities have a limited time to ‘key ask’ - 10.30 - 11.30pm on May 3rd.
They would like to remind all those ignorant people who are not ’savvy’ that May 3rd is also ‘leave your child at home evening’ - and not agreeing with the well known ‘take your child to work day’ they felt obliged to participate in this occasion.
While it was not strictly speaking ’sedate your children’ week ( that being May 7th - 13th), they felt that a dress rehersal would be useful to them, (as they are inexperienced with the use of medicines).

The numerology on that is 5, the same as the girl who went missing on 04/05/1994 so they could be linked in some way.
Do we have a name for 04/05/1994 girl as I would be interested to look into the numerology of the names as well.

I also read that he saw Madeleine missing and thought she was in his bed as she had gone in to his bed previously. I don’t recall reading that he checked the bed though.

I am not saying they are useless, just that they are overrated in the particular instance of tracing missing people. They have good success rates at other things like food and drug searches at airports but it’s pretty obvious the smells involved are more concentrated because the source of the smell is right in front of their nose! Police forces aren’t generally getting the dogs trained for finding people, it’s usually for drugs.
“Portuguese detectives began to suspect the couple after a sniffer dog, trained to detect “the scent of death”, reacted dramatically to their hire car and Madeleine’s Cuddle Cat toy.
But similar evidence has been dismissed as unreliable in a US murder trial. Experts found the dogs had a poor record.
The reliability of sniffer dogs has also been called into question in Switzerland where the body of little Ylenia, who was abducted in July, has been found buried in woodland not far from where her possessions were found. This area had been searched twice by cadaver-searching dogs but they had not discovered her.
Sniffer dogs are meant to help find corpses - in which case a 20% to 30% success rate is probably better than nothing.”

OK, here is the link to the 21st September article by John Bingham, of PA, published by The Scotsman. It states he saw the children asleep, including Madeleine. This is a change from earlier reports, which did not say that he saw Madeleine.

47 Rosemary says: (September 28th, 2007 at 10:59 am) “This is all very interesting if we could believe it. Who knows whether the leaks are credible or not? Not me, certainly”.
REPLY: Rosemary, these leaks always come from ‘a source close to the McCanns’ or ‘a source close to the McCann family’.
Point 1: These woud NOT be released without the exprerss approval of (a) Kate McCann (b) Gerry McCann (c) the McCanns’ media advice and PR team and (d) the McCanns’ lawyers. I expect they are all having weekly meetings, if not more frequent
Point 2: None of these ‘leaks’ from ‘McCann family sources’ has since been contradicted by any of the above
Point 3: Releasing statement after statement to the press through ’sources close to the family’ serves a very cunning purpose. Although these ’sources’ quoted are constantly recycled by the eager media, and are always taken as authoritative statements on behalf of Team McCann, the great advantage is that if any one of these statements from a ‘McCann family source’ proves to be highly embarrassing or plain wrong, Team McCann can always say: “Ah, but that comment made by a ’source’ wasn’t speaking with our knowledge or consent”. Effectively, then, it can be denied.
It’s another example of plain cunning - what one would expect from a media advice team headed by someone on £75,000 a year - and from someone like Clarence Mitchell who worked as part of Blair’s spin team at the Foreign Office, heading up their Media Monitoring Unit

SSS- Deborah Ann Quimby missing May 3rd 1977
September 28th, 2007 at 11:24 am
Slightly off theme, but. Although it would not be admissable as evidence, I think that the McCanns would do a lot for their own creditability and help them to clear their name if they quietly took a lie detector test and then announced the results to the world.

whoops sorry to mislead Cassie, it was UK’s first heart transplant but still in was carried out by a south african heart specialist.

70, Moderation,
No, I never read it like that - I never read that he saw Madeleine, just he saw their bedroom door open and assumed she’d gone to sleep in their bed, as sh had done before if disturbed by the twins. At the time I thought OMG, what an assumption! He must be bloody stupid.
September 28th, 2007 at 11:22 am
69 Morning Karen, pleased to hear it! How’s the reading going?
68 Matty
At the risk of sounding like a complete freak………..
I have drawn a blank on the girl who went on 04/05/1994 BUT
Alexis Patterson - numerology condenses down to 3
Madeleine Mccann - numerology condenses down to 6 then further down to 3
What do you think?
Following on from that, May 3rd 2008 condenses down to 9 then from that 3
So the number 3 is very significant.

have they dug up the roadworks yet or the area behind the church, there is always a ….now they are going to….. and it never seems to happen. And another week goes by

42, Tony Bennett,
Can you give a link for John Bingham’s PA article?
In the versions of that account I’ve read weeks ago, it was reported Madeleine was not in her bed, but as the parents bedroom door was ajar, Gerry McCann assumed she’d gone to sleep in their bed to get away from the sound of the twins crying.
I’ve never read anywhere that he actually saw her asleep in their bed.
I’ve always believed their movements were monitored and an abductor could have hidden in the apartment during checks, especially if they were as perfunctory as described by the parents and their friends.
September 28th, 2007 at 11:17 am
Rosemary 55 I read it that when he saw the inside doot ajar instead of closed Gerry McCann thought Madeleine may have got up and wandered out and then gone back to bed and left the door ajar.
She was in her bed at that time so he dismissed the open door. Then he met up with Wilkins(?) after that.
I’m sure someone can find a link to confirm or deny… I really don’t mind which!!
September 28th, 2007 at 11:16 am
53. You’re right. I should have said Mr (or New) Statesman.
Some woman - very respectable looking - who headed a 9/11 survivor group - and did a lot of the campaigning/fund-raising type stuff the Gerry has done - has been exposed as a sham.
She lied. She wasn’t in 9/11.
For all those who think shameless public frauds can’t happen.
Morning sss. I’m not staying long.
