Madeleine McCann: Spies, Richard Branson PI And Maddy TV
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE. SPY-IN-SKY PLAN TO FIND HER KIDNAPPER.”
So she was kidnapped. Wasn’t she?
“Satellite and aerial footage as well as internet traffic should be used to help the hunt,” say “intelligence experts”, including Professor Anthony Glees, Director of Brunel University’s Centre for Intelligence and Security Studies. Security is his thing.
Pages 4 and 5: “Riddle of the McCanns’ day out” – Why did the McCanns go to Spain on August 3 and what did they do there? Clarence Mitchell says the TV cameras and journalists tracked their every move.
“Branson: They are innocent” – Richard Branson PI calls it a “grotesque nightmare”. He has donated £100,000 to help the McCanns clear their name. He says the McCanns have “the weight and support of Britain behind them”.
THE SUN front page: “OUTRAGE AS COPS CLAIM MADDIE ‘BURIED IN SPAIN’.”
Pages 6 and 7: “POLICE PROBE LOST 2 HOURS” – Police Claim the McCanns buried Madeleine during a “missing two hours” in Spain.
Kate and Gerry are “shattered”.
Says the Sun:
“SUSPICIOUS the trip was postponed from the day before – because Gerry had intestinal problems.
“’STRANGE’” that the couple from Rothley, Leics, chose to visit Spain on a national holiday, when the shops were shut.
“MYSTERIOUS that the McCanns racked up ‘unjustified mileage’ in their Renault Scenic – hired 25 days after Maddie disappeared.”
A source says a new ad campaign to find Madeleine will start in two weeks.
DAILY MAIL page 3: “Police use CCTV to map McCanns trips.”
As newspaper Correio de Manha reports, Spanish police have given their Portuguese counterparts CCTV footage “showing the Renault Scenic in places in Spain where there was ‘no reason’ for the couple to be.”
A TV series based on Madeleine McCann is being produced in Chile. Says Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: “The case is becoming a soap opera.”
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE IS SO FRAGILE. Fears for mum after latest blow.”
Kate McCann’s face is all over the front page. “The anguish is plain to see.” A friend hears that Madeleine had not been found in Morocco: “Kate is so fragile. She’s suffering a devastating disappointment.”
Page 5: “They suffered a devastating blow with the false alarm in Morocco. Kate has crashed.”
“COPS PROBE SPAIN TRIP.”
DAILY STAR pages 6 and 7: “MADDIE DUMPED IN SPAIN.” An “exclusive”.
THE TIMES page 16: Mick Hume says: “The line between investigation and emotive entertainment has disappeared.”
THE TELEGRAPH page 6: “Portuguese focus on McCanns’ Spain trip” – Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns are innocent.
THE GUARDIAN and THE INDEPENDENT: no Madeleine news today.

where does rupert murdoch figure in all this?
the papers he doesn’t own seem more likely to report stuff that is detrimental to the gruesome twosome, and we already know about sky news.
and fox news would normally make an enormous issue, throwing accusations everywhere on a story like this, surely.

more sort of silvery or goldy.

someone was asking me earlier about the parents being five miles away from the kids one of the evenings.
i’d gone then, but the link is here.
One piece of circumstantial evidence is the claim of a barman in Lagos, five miles away, that he saw the McCanns in the town one night without their children.

Further to my earlier post (956) regarding the Louise Woodward case it is interesting how the British media have changed their tune. The doctor parents of the dead baby were blamed rather than the girl herself - as “professionals” they should have known better and hired someone qualified and more experienced to provide childcare.
Yet when two British doctors leave three tiny children with no minder at all the same papers pussyfoot around the issue and refuse to condemn their behaviour.

Is this irony?

hi all.
do they keep saying ‘ludicrous’ just to wind everyone up or what?
i suggest we start a count from today.

So we have a Russian with links to a company which ran boat trips to African islands, and a few Brits with Sunsail Holiday experience. How many more known sailors feature in the plot?
How come Charlotte Pennington is allowed to talk about the evidence - because she is not an arguido?

Did you have a string of ‘hits’ in the mid 70’s?
September 29th, 2007 at 12:15 am
I chalk it up to British Pride. Pride and loyalty and rallying around the good name of honest hard working doctors who are just on a bit of a vacation? What else could it be?
September 29th, 2007 at 12:14 am
The weirdest thing about this McCann case must surely be how high profile it is. No-one, but no-one before - in Britain at least, I don’t know about other countries - has had this degree of open government support and, as a result, financial support from the rich list hoping for a gong or more. Nor has our press ever ever pulled out every stop to spin and to manipulate public opinion in this way. Who are these McCanns? What lies behind this ’story’? Something does for sure, something big. Else how come the big guns are all lined up on their side?
It is quite unprecedented for a Prime Minister to do as Brown has done and provide two ordinary (on the surface) doctors with a free government PR man - initially - until some millionaire took over paying Mitchell’s salary - and to stick his neck out so far for them that if the whole thing goes pear shaped his head will be chopped off. Personally, I hope this happens. The Portuguese have been leaned on like hell, that’s obvious, to drop the whole thing. Perhaps they will, I hope they won’t. BUT WHAT’S GOING ON??
September 29th, 2007 at 12:13 am
What do you mean by real? I came on this blog today and used the name SusieQ - is there another one?
September 29th, 2007 at 12:12 am
I’m more excited about this information than anything I have heard recently. I always had a gut feeling that Maddie had been put in the water or in a dingy near the water. This is encouraging. I hope it brings something to light about where little Maddie is.

Are you the real Susie Q?
September 29th, 2007 at 12:07 am
983 - I agree. That is what we need to know.

This is the whole point!!!!
If we knew who was under the hoooD, we might be one step closer to realising the fate of Madeleine.

964, Swannie,
I tried the boatman link earlier but it didn’t work.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=484593&in_page_id=1770
In case it goes again:
“A mystery boatman was seen kicking at something in the middle of the night two days after Madeleine McCann disappeared, detectives have been told.
Former Mark Warner nanny Charlotte Pennington said she spotted the man in a small dinghy just off the Praia da Luz seafront at 11.30pm. She claims he was kicking at an object stored in the boat’s hull.
When she moved closer to investigate, the man - whose name she has given to Portuguese and British police - stooped out of sight then hurriedly rowed away…..”
What wa he doing? Untangling his fishing nets?
September 29th, 2007 at 12:02 am
980 - so right. Thank you. I thought wrongly - it was some one else - my mistake. Who is under the hool?
September 28th, 2007 at 11:57 pm
979 SusieQ
Thanks for your post.
Technically the hoood couldn’t be anyone, it is the person beneath the hoood that we are interested in.
September 28th, 2007 at 11:55 pm
Yes, I agree - the hood could be anyone - you are right!
September 28th, 2007 at 11:53 pm
It is just convenient now to point fingers at the Portuguese Police - so convenient.
September 28th, 2007 at 11:52 pm
973 SusieQ
Did you not read the whole article. The nanny clearly states that the mystery boatman’s face was obscured by a hoood.
Sorry for the confusion
September 28th, 2007 at 11:51 pm
Amaral (960) thank you for pointing all this out. I had read it early on as soon as they started bringing in the Joana Cipriana investigation into the Maddie fiasco and dismissed it. Everyone always forgets to mention the details of J’s mom not remembering to call police for two days and the forget the fact that they found the child’s blood in the fridge. How many of us have samples of our children’s blood in the fridge???
British Press have some hellacious blinders on - IMO of course!

952. Mods and Admin:
I realize I can change my name but in light of the recent problems didn’t see the point in doing so - do you?
I was never hiding my identity so I don’t understand why you say “I know who you are now anyway.”

If you want to stay as anonymous , or if you want to use your name, or if another ‘anonymous’ comes along
You also know who I am, but we have info here which tells us who is who, so if anyone is messing about we can stop it. But we aren’t always here, but it does get sorted. Incidentally it does happen , and the abuser gets banned
September 28th, 2007 at 11:49 pm
Could the mysterious boatman be ………Charon ?
September 28th, 2007 at 11:48 pm
The hood? Right, it could be anyone.

Thank you for that link. I work with a NPD and Corporate sociopath, my life has been hell but i stood my ground.
It will be difficult to sell this theory to those who have no knowledge of this disorder as one of the symptoms of this disorder is the abililty of the sociopath to win over the people who can protect his true identity with lots of superficial charm, always saying what he knows they want to hear, he is extremely difficult to uncover and adept at getting his own way through lies, deceit and manipulation.
September 28th, 2007 at 11:47 pm
968 SusieQ..
Why did it have to be a stranger hiding underneath the hoood?
The nanny says she could not see the face because of the hoood.
This does not support an abduction. It just tells us that maybe ’somebody’ hiding beneath a hoood has taken her. This could quite easily be one of the tapas 9

Does Robert Murat not run boat trips to Morocco?
Was he not seen chatting to the Mccans just before their Hols?
The mind Boggles
