Madeleine McCann: People Smugglers, A Small Fridge And Child Alerts
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE - STOLEN BY PEOPLE SMUGGLERS.”
“Missing Madeleine McCann may be in the hands of North African people smugglers. Police in Morocco, investigating a reported sighting, believe they have identified a link with a ruthless gang of traffickers.”
Remember when Madeleine was in “the clutches” of Moroccans, and how the gang turned out to be a couple of farmers and their daughter?
Now: “The breakthrough came a few weeks after Madeleine went missing when a Spanish tourist reported seeing a blonde girl matching her description being dragged along by a scruffy, Arab-looking woman in the town of Zaio.”
Spanish tourist Isabel Gonzalez has told the world how she saw a blonde toddler in Morocco. Not Bouchra Benaissa. Another blonde Moroccan.
“The alarm was raised in May by 60-year-old Spanish tourist Isabel Gonzalez who said: ‘The girl I saw was blonde, with pale skin, whereas everyone else in the area is dark-skinned and dark-haired.”
Well, not everyone. Remember Bouchra Benaissa..?
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE BODY KEPT IN FREEZER.”
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE COPS IN SICK SLUR.”
“COPS MOST SICKENING SLUR YET” – “MADDIE’S BODY KEPT IN FRIDGE.”
“Maddie parents mark 150 days”
“McCann’s gagged by cops” – “A friend of the McCanns said: ‘It is madness. We are being forced to inhabit a fantasy world in which we can increase public awareness of Madeleine’s disappearance and urge the public’s help through a poster campaign, but her own parents cannot help in this because of the legal status attached to them. It is so frustrating - Madeleine’s own mum and dad are not allowed to speak about her.’”
So they have anything to say that is not said through their spokesman, Gerry’s blog and friends, and to the police?
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – NEW SUSPECT IN STAIRWELL.”
“A British tourist seen ‘hiding’ in a stairwell outside Madeleine McCann’s apartment on the night she disappeared was being investigated last night.
“The new suspect, stocky and wearing two-tone glasses, was spotted by an Ocean Club worker just 12 metres from the flat. The employee, who did not want to be named, exclusively told the Mirror: ‘I’ll never forget him.’”
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns gagged from answering claims they dumped Madeleine’s body in Spain.”
•Portuguese papers claim Kate McCann killed Madeleine while Gerry played tennis
•Couple ‘then hid the child’s body in a fridge and later disposed of it in Spain’
•McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the reports were ‘utterly ludicrous’
These are the “latest lurid allegations”.
“A family friend ridiculed the suggestion that Madeleine’s body could have been stored in a fridge, saying: ‘Have you seen the size of the fridges in those apartments? Of course they did not stuff her in a fridge.’”
THE TIMES: “Kate and Gerry McCann’s friends refute ‘missing hours’ claim as smears continue.”
“The parents of Madeleine McCann have pleaded for an end to the distressing smear campaign that has suggested that they may have killed their missing daughter…
“It was claimed yesterday that police in Portugal believe that Kate McCann killed Madeleine while putting her to bed at their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz between 7pm and 8.30pm on May 3 and then hid her corpse in a fridge, with the help of friends.
“The respected Diario de Noticias newspaper said that officers believed that Mrs McCann accidentally killed Madeleine while her husband was playing tennis.”
Stop the smears. But read all about them first.
THE GUARDIAN: “EU plan for missing child alerts.”
Oh?
“Portugal will next week call for the creation of an EU-wide alert system for missing children, five months after Madeleine McCann disappeared from a holiday resort in the south of the country. The move has been welcomed by the McCann family.”
So she was taken across boarders?
“In a statement released through Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman, Madeleine’s father, Gerry, said: ‘If this is true, we would very much welcome it as it would be a major step in the right direction. We feel it would be vital in protecting other children and their families. Kate and I have consistently campaigned to effect change throughout the EU to help protect children.’”
But Madeleine McCann might not have been stolen. Is this just another instance of people jumping on story to promote their pet cause?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s parents may face jail.”
No, not for child neglect.
“Kate and Gerry McCann could face 12 months in prison if they speak out to defend themselves against a slur campaign in Portugal because of the country’s strict secrecy laws, it is claimed.”
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Each and every one of these nonsensical allegations causes real pain and hurt for both Gerry and Kate.
“We just hope that everyone can see these ridiculous rumours for what they are.”

Judge Dread….. I saw that preview.. did you notice that the Scotland Yard man shares my theory of what happened?! though I was only listening with one ear as new kitten was running up the curtains.
Brandonflours… so what you mean is if the prog doesn’t support your mad theories then its pro-mccann? as opposed to pro-truth?
Survey carried out of Spanish Hoteliers showed that the majority of Brits leave their children in hotel rooms while they are in the bars on the property. I understand it wil be discussed at World Travel market in November. (I shall be there) Its a Northern European thing and the hotels accept it as the norn. (as do/did Mark Warner before they panicked and tried to take the moral high ground!)

“It has been another busy week for Kate and I. Sean and Amelie have settled back into nursery, almost as if they have never been away.” - Does he mean daycare or their bedroom? If the former, do the McCanns then want to spend ANY time with their children? If this were you, would you let your children out of your sight again? Have they gone back to work? Apart from leaving their remaining children with strangers (which they were strangely reluctant to do in the evenings on holiday), what are they doing with their time? Organising a world tour? Jogging, again? Are they training for the Olympics?

Good morning all,
My knowledge of the British media is rather limited compare to you – but I’m surprised that the “Telegraph” would publish this article:
“Kate McCann will risk jail to find Madeleine”.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/30/nmaddy130.xml
It seems that the team McCann is trying to tell us that accepting their interview with Barbara Walters is somehow important and could help find Madeline – if they’re allowed to speak about “Portuguese investigation, DNA and leaks”.
If I’m not mistaken then entering the US is not all that easy as the passport control is very thorough – I cannot see the “abductor” taking Madeleine there.
Not to forget that the media in the US do cover the Madeleine story already.
I did honestly think that they would keep a low profile for a while but somehow they cannot help themselves anymore.
September 30th, 2007 at 8:54 am
Sad, but I awoke thinking…..
Why did k say she knew that madeleine had been abducted within 30 seconds?
If this is so, then a walk to the reception and discussion with a staf member means the police would know within 5 minutes, and would be able to secure the scene?
why were Sky called first?
Why, when checking the children, did the adults not physically view madeleine, or the twins?
Why did the O’s child vomit? was this child under sedation?
Have the parents of any of the children ever given their children any ‘calming’ medicine other than, say, Calpol?
Why, with the potential earnings capacity of the party, did each parent not have babysitters?
I had a few ideas for websites:

As in all police work we must find where a crime begins and where it ends,a sort of story board of events if you will.We know this scenario begins with the parents neglecting their children,by leaving them alone and unprotected,a crime in itself in Portugal and the UK.Some misguided souls of the bleeding heart variety fail to acknowledge, that if the parents had given the child the protection due to her we would not be discussing the events that are directly related to that lack of parential responsibility. The Gutter press as the Brits call it has done nothing but hinder the investigation, with its fictional reporting attributed to non sources unknown,as always.Putting a few of these journos away for a while and they could be charged with contempt under Euro law would perhaps put the focus on Madeliene, where it should be,rather than on the McCann circus. As for all of the claims and counter claims, there is one that above all others should be considered,as having substance. The case Prosecutor made a statement about those responsible escaping justice if the childs body is not found, yes body, the PJ have stated several times that they know the child is dead,as for criticising the PJ and the methods used by them, that is a bit rich considering that the Birmingham lab after all this time has still not returned final test results, perhaps they should have used CSI,at least they get results and fast.

Firestar,
Ok here is the granny theory.
Well it has nothing to do with granny’s but mine told me that in order to remain flexible in attitude one should always find alternative ways of looking at situations.,
So in this scenario I was first bleeding for Madeleine and her parents.
Then something shifted and my mind said that there was something really fishy here.
And I have been stuck there for a while.
The mind through out another thought recently which my body does not resonate with intuitively but it let us cover it.
When I read the allegations by the new nanny, and the witnesses etc etc etc, I think that they are being framed by those supposedly meant to be helping them.
The newspaper headlines and Clarence Mitchells comments are just so insanely damaging to their reputation, that I cannot believe they can do anything to help this couple.
So the theory is.
Bills need to be passed.
A catalyst needs to be found.
Missing child will fit the bill.
Parents will make substantial amount from it
and child will be kept safely out of the picture.
Except that things did not transpire as they were meant to.
Something went wrong, horribly wrong.
And Kate and Gerrykins have not a leg to stand on.
They are going down down down and the forces behind them
are once again smiling all the way down into their ghoulish globalised souls.
How is Clarence Mitchell conveying their innocence. With all these witnesses coming forward now - it is a mockery.
And they should be charged for not coming forward sooner.
Gloves off here now - let the game end.
Oh and Richard you can swing to the right you can swing to the left, just
be careful not to dislocate anything.
Pain is something money can not take away.
September 30th, 2007 at 7:20 am
Good morning all.
Do you any of you ever get to sleep.
I had a dream last night where visually there was a picture of
Madeleine. Al large 30 piece puzzle.
There was one piece missing, right in the center.
By her mouth.
The room in which the puzzle lay on the table was filled with
policeman and detectives.
A Dutch/German detective had the piece in his hand and passed it
to the Portuguese in charge, who neatly fitted it into place.
The feeling of completion was immensely profound and silence ensued.
My question is apart from Interpol checking on “sightings” around the globe -
do you think the PJ are getting outside assistance?
It was such a powerful dream.
P.S. Tried to post for ages. The spam sum was 6 + 9 so I typed in 15. 6 Times I was informed that the sum was incorrect.
Used my fingers, used a calculator, woke up the kids just to make sure.
Eventually remembered what Firestar told me about saving and pasting etc.
But it just makes me realise that you can have the answer but something can reject that answer even though it is obviously right.
September 30th, 2007 at 7:15 am
Well how nice it is see some Mccann supporters on here for a change, apart from brandonflours and millon-squid ofcourse!!!!!!!

497 - Denise ,brandonflours is expressing a sense of guilt for leaving a 6 year old in another room of the same house - he believes he made a mistake which he has not repeated since. Kate and Gerry have displayed no sense of shame, guilt, remorse, regret, or “we’ll never do that again, let this be a warning to other parents”. Instead, they have hired an expensive PR machine to paint themselves as squeaky clean. It is worrying that the affluent classes are rushing to their defence. Is child neglect a common dirty secret among those of a certain income?
September 30th, 2007 at 5:54 am
brandonflours why don’t you say it with flowers…What a good boy am I?
The whole world faults the McCann’s for going out. Me too. But, I do not feel the need to weigh my perfectness against their imperfectness. They lost. Why beat them up.
So you want them punished…right! They have been. You want them formally charged…is that the only way for you to be able to let go of your vitrolic anger.
I think they deserve better.
September 30th, 2007 at 5:53 am
still no more news on missing priest.

Children Left Alone
Key Points
Never leave a young child alone
Children under 13 years should not be left
Children are not ready for this amount of responsibility
Leaving a child alone places them at risk of harm
It can be a lonely and frightening experience
Plan who you could contact for emergency care
Common Sense and the Law
If a child is not ready to be left alone it can be a sad, lonely, frightening and dangerous experience. There are many possible risks, both physical and emotional, which could affect your child in a negative way.
In addition, the level of responsibility which is given to the child to look after themselves to somehow manage whatever may happen is impossible for a younger child. They may say that they do not mind being left and may find it exciting initially, but they cannot fully know the possible risks and how to handle them.
Even the relatively ordinary things that happen in life, such as hunger, a storm, the phone ringing or someone coming to the front door can cause problems. An accident, feeling ill or a power cut may occur and these are not issues that a child could deal with.

At least amend it to leaving under 5s alone at all for however long, in a range from eyesight or hearing.
especially in unfamiliar surroundings.
I remember a few years back, I spent new years at my sisters a 3 bedroomed in london , not big at all, we put them to sleep in an upstairs bedroom and carried on ,
I checked next time I went for wee, and my 6 year old was crying,
he was scared, it was only 20 mins, we were all down stairs, not 50-300 yards, no tappas, no boogyman, but i felt awful, a lesson learned.
never went anywhere overnight since, and i would have never done what the tappas9 did.
