Madeleine McCann: People Smugglers, A Small Fridge And Child Alerts
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE - STOLEN BY PEOPLE SMUGGLERS.”
“Missing Madeleine McCann may be in the hands of North African people smugglers. Police in Morocco, investigating a reported sighting, believe they have identified a link with a ruthless gang of traffickers.”
Remember when Madeleine was in “the clutches” of Moroccans, and how the gang turned out to be a couple of farmers and their daughter?
Now: “The breakthrough came a few weeks after Madeleine went missing when a Spanish tourist reported seeing a blonde girl matching her description being dragged along by a scruffy, Arab-looking woman in the town of Zaio.”
Spanish tourist Isabel Gonzalez has told the world how she saw a blonde toddler in Morocco. Not Bouchra Benaissa. Another blonde Moroccan.
“The alarm was raised in May by 60-year-old Spanish tourist Isabel Gonzalez who said: ‘The girl I saw was blonde, with pale skin, whereas everyone else in the area is dark-skinned and dark-haired.”
Well, not everyone. Remember Bouchra Benaissa..?
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE BODY KEPT IN FREEZER.”
THE SUN front page: “MADDIE COPS IN SICK SLUR.”
“COPS MOST SICKENING SLUR YET” – “MADDIE’S BODY KEPT IN FRIDGE.”
“Maddie parents mark 150 days”
“McCann’s gagged by cops” – “A friend of the McCanns said: ‘It is madness. We are being forced to inhabit a fantasy world in which we can increase public awareness of Madeleine’s disappearance and urge the public’s help through a poster campaign, but her own parents cannot help in this because of the legal status attached to them. It is so frustrating - Madeleine’s own mum and dad are not allowed to speak about her.’”
So they have anything to say that is not said through their spokesman, Gerry’s blog and friends, and to the police?
DAILY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – NEW SUSPECT IN STAIRWELL.”
“A British tourist seen ‘hiding’ in a stairwell outside Madeleine McCann’s apartment on the night she disappeared was being investigated last night.
“The new suspect, stocky and wearing two-tone glasses, was spotted by an Ocean Club worker just 12 metres from the flat. The employee, who did not want to be named, exclusively told the Mirror: ‘I’ll never forget him.’”
DAILY MAIL: “McCanns gagged from answering claims they dumped Madeleine’s body in Spain.”
•Portuguese papers claim Kate McCann killed Madeleine while Gerry played tennis
•Couple ‘then hid the child’s body in a fridge and later disposed of it in Spain’
•McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said the reports were ‘utterly ludicrous’
These are the “latest lurid allegations”.
“A family friend ridiculed the suggestion that Madeleine’s body could have been stored in a fridge, saying: ‘Have you seen the size of the fridges in those apartments? Of course they did not stuff her in a fridge.’”
THE TIMES: “Kate and Gerry McCann’s friends refute ‘missing hours’ claim as smears continue.”
“The parents of Madeleine McCann have pleaded for an end to the distressing smear campaign that has suggested that they may have killed their missing daughter…
“It was claimed yesterday that police in Portugal believe that Kate McCann killed Madeleine while putting her to bed at their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz between 7pm and 8.30pm on May 3 and then hid her corpse in a fridge, with the help of friends.
“The respected Diario de Noticias newspaper said that officers believed that Mrs McCann accidentally killed Madeleine while her husband was playing tennis.”
Stop the smears. But read all about them first.
THE GUARDIAN: “EU plan for missing child alerts.”
Oh?
“Portugal will next week call for the creation of an EU-wide alert system for missing children, five months after Madeleine McCann disappeared from a holiday resort in the south of the country. The move has been welcomed by the McCann family.”
So she was taken across boarders?
“In a statement released through Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns’ spokesman, Madeleine’s father, Gerry, said: ‘If this is true, we would very much welcome it as it would be a major step in the right direction. We feel it would be vital in protecting other children and their families. Kate and I have consistently campaigned to effect change throughout the EU to help protect children.’”
But Madeleine McCann might not have been stolen. Is this just another instance of people jumping on story to promote their pet cause?
DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann’s parents may face jail.”
No, not for child neglect.
“Kate and Gerry McCann could face 12 months in prison if they speak out to defend themselves against a slur campaign in Portugal because of the country’s strict secrecy laws, it is claimed.”
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Each and every one of these nonsensical allegations causes real pain and hurt for both Gerry and Kate.
“We just hope that everyone can see these ridiculous rumours for what they are.”

I think that the killing of Madeleine by her parents and the assisted cover up by their friends and the U.K newspapers will if not brought to trial destroy what’s left of the collective british soul in a similar way to that of America with the shooting of JFK (and Bobby r.i.p). This case is sorting the wheat from the chaff. It is time to find out if you really are the free thinking human being you claim to be, or a media driven zombie who will buy any any Goddamn thing your masters tell you to.
I would like to thank this site (spud-gun your video made my partner and I cry) for helping restore my faith in humanity which has been shaken more than usual over the past few months.
When will we see what we see? Hear what we hear? Smell what we smell?
This whole episode is a symptom of the fascist plague as first diagnosed by Dr William Reich over 60 years ago but has been with us for 10 thousand. And it does not end with the catching and imprisonment of the McCann’s. It ends when we all understand why they did what they did, then and only then will our children be safe.

540 “Nursery…. don’t most children start at nursery at around aged 2/3 regardless of whether the parents work?? its a social / learning thing. It used to be called Playgroup. Both mine went to Nursery from two and a half.”
Have the McCann kids ever spent much time at all with their parents? Don’t they also have to socialise with their own family now and then? On holiday, the kids seem to have been dragged (and then drugged?) from one creche or playgroup to another while their loving parents played tennis or went jogging. I am sick of the McCanns being billed as role model parents. Madeline is missing because of them, not because of the Portuguese police. Why doesn’t someone ask them exactly WHAT was the objection to a babysitter?

Opps should have been 545 not 543
September 30th, 2007 at 10:42 am
543 - Which member of the Clan McCann are you bc.
“I can understand why they did not want to leave their children at the club in the evening, they would then have to put three under fours to bed at say 11pm and a lot of children need routine.”
Yeah right. Rather than mess with routines, leave the children alone alseep in an unlocked apartment, (children’s routien), and p**s o*f to the Tapas Bar, (parent’s routien), then everyone is happy, (including the abductor).
Get a life mate. Routiens go out of the window on holidays we all know that, thats why its called a holiday. They were negligent and did not protect their children in the way they should have. No matter what else come to light or the truth of the situation, there is no excuse for that.

“The strangest thing was that the mother never left the apartment. All of us were looking in the immediate area for the child. We were all running about and she stayed in the apartment.”
Possibly because she had twins??????????

540 That account is fiction.
Witnesses say “They came into the restaurant at 8pm,” said one waiter who served them. “It was a large group and every day they’d have dinner at Tapas.”
We know that isn’t true. An MW spokesperson said the table was booked for 8.30pm, and they did not dine there every night.

why don’t you copy that in to the new thread which has started.

539 - Who has confirmed the time that Sky news first heard of the abduction. If the McCanns had phoned Sky first there would have been major questions asked of them and their strange actions and they would have been made suspects long before they were.
If I got out more I’d miss the news. Maybe you go out too much.
September 30th, 2007 at 10:26 am
If this had happened in the UK it would have been reported on TV straightaway, all channels want to be the first with the news. I do not think it is so strange that they contacted the media to make the case high profile.
In fact, I think notifying Sky news may point to things happening the way they say they did. If they had something to hide, they would not want it broadcast any more than necessary
For people on here to act as if they care more for Madeleine than her own family do is delusional. What ever happened to her, her own family care more than anyone else
I expect a fund had to be set up once the first person offered financial support. What else could be done with it, say ‘no thanks’?
People, politicians / captains of industry get involved at the beginning based on what they have heard. They cannot then pull out without appearing to have changed their minds
For the first three or four months I only saw the tv news relating to the disappearance, I do not have time to read newspapers and I only came accross this site relatively recently. It is possible to get very different ideas on what may have happened depending on what you read.
This site makes you query some things but some of the things said on here (such as the fridge and getting rid of her because she was not ‘perfect’) are disgustingly offensive on any level.
To assume nothing is being done to find Madeleine cannot be true, in fact, it must be completely the opposite. Behind the scenes they must have the best of the best on to it by now.
If K & G ran off to each and every sighting, more hoxes would come in so someone could take sick pleasure in watching them on a wild goose chase.
I do not believe Kate was not grieving at the beginning, I would say she was the personification of grief in those early tv appearances.
It will be interesting to see tonights tv programme because I want to see if it answers any of the questions raised here or if it is like the tv represention of the case that I saw prior to this site which basically said nothing.
I am interested in the facts, timelines, the friends, why no one talks about it if it is not strictly prohibited by the police, why nearly everyone who was at the club at that time (friends, staff, guests etc) have not commented ‘on the record’
I can understand why they did not want to leave their children at the club in the evening, they would then have to put three under fours to bed at say 11pm and a lot of children need routine.
I do not understand why there was at least a baby monitor (if they were available for hire) or better still a nanny, I think the same staff who play with the children in the day are the ones who baby sit, but I may be wrong. And, was the door really left unlocked? Whereas one may not think of abduction, what about wandering off and falling in the pool?
If they could just answer these things it would help
September 30th, 2007 at 10:24 am
Sharon you are quite correct,Sky news have no credibility,as they are tainted by bias, because of their relationship to the McCann’s.
September 30th, 2007 at 10:20 am
538 - Can’t find a pic of the patio door. You could be right though. I thought the patio door was on the balcony with arches at the rear of the apartment, and the Mccanns left the apartment through the main door which opened on to the alley.

More confusion if thats possible””””The night Maddie disappeared - as reconstructed by witnesses
Mccann3Waiters talk to Portuguese paper about May 3
More details have emerged of what happened on the night Madeleine McCann disappeared, writes GIBBY ZOBEL. The details are provided by staff who served them dinner at the Tapas restaurant in the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz.
Witnesses claim that Kate McCann didn’t shed a tear, remained in the apartment while everyone was looking for Madeleine, refused an offer to call police, and that Sky News was called instead. The restaurant staff say that not only did the group not check on their children every 15 minutes as claimed, but that it wasn’t even apparent the group of diners had any children.
The Correio da Manha newspaper has ‘reconstructed’ the events of May 3 based on testimonies from staff at Tapas.
“They came into the restaurant at 8pm,” said one waiter who served them. “It was a large group and every day they’d have dinner at Tapas.”
Kate and Gerry McCann and their friends sat at an oval table right in the middle of the restaurant. Before dinner they ordered strawberry daiquiris and it was only after 9pm that food began to arrive at the table. The group was lively and there was nothing to suggest anything unusual.
“I can’t remember what was ordered, or exactly who got up from the table and when they did. The only thing I’m absolutely certain of is that they didn’t go every 15 minutes to see their children in their rooms,” said another waiter.
In fact, when the alarm was raised that Madeleine had disappeared, the big surprise among restaurant staff was that any of the diners had children at all. “They never came with their kids. The McCanns and their friends always came alone,” one waiter remembers.
At 9pm dinner was served. One of the staff remembers that at this point one of the group was not at the table. From the physical description given, it was probably Russell O’Brien, the medic who has told police that he checked on Madeleine in her room at that time.
“One of the group asked us to wait to serve the food because he was about to arrive. That’s what we did and he was served a few minutes later.”
It was just after 10pm when the confusion began. Kate McCann went to the room and shouted from the veranda. “There was a lot of shouting. She seemed hysterical and said that they’d taken the girl. Everyone got up from the table and there was a lot of confusion. Everyone went to the apartment to see what was going on.”
A member of the restaurant staff called the police at 10.40pm. Already 30 minutes had passed since the alarm was raised and, as is now known, a call had already been made to Sky News.
Pamela Finn, the neighbour in the apartment above the McCanns, asked if the couple needed help. She offered to alert the authorities but Kate McCann declined.
“The strangest thing was that the mother never left the apartment. All of us were looking in the immediate area for the child. We were all running about and she stayed in the apartment.”
At 11pm Ocean Club staff arrived at the apartment. Two police officers, who didn’t speak English, were already there. “At that moment the mother didn’t cry a single tear. I only realised that it was Kate’s child when she handed her documents to the police,” said another witness.
According to this witness, Kate McCann remained in the apartment. “She never looked for her daughter. She was relatively calm, and spoke with other women from the group. Gerry appeared more upset; he ran into the road and shouted Madeleine’s name.”

#535# that will be the same sky news that the McCanns phoned before they informed the police Maddy was missing, you really should get out more often.

Judge Dread… I think the patio door open on to the balcony that overlooks the pool? where the gate and steps are?
Onto the road is the bedroom window (with shutters) and the front door.
Nursery…. don’t most children start at nursery at around aged 2/3 regardless of whether the parents work?? its a social / learning thing. It used to be called Playgroup. Both mine went to Nursery from two and a half.

Joana Cipriano / Maddy McCann
The case of 8 year old Joana Cipriano has been mentioned by people implying the the Portuguese police framed her mother and uncle for her death.
Here is areport from a English speaking Portuguese paper;
portugalresident.com/portugalresident/showstory.asp?ID=10046 - 49k -
Court hears Joana’s horror story
Onlookers in the public gallery screamed abuse at the mother and uncle of Joana Cipriano as they were ferried to and from court.
The case, which has shocked the nation with its account of incest, murder and desecration, took just three days to be tried. The Public Ministry has pressed for jail terms of 24 years for the defendants, who are charged with qualified murder, as well as desecrating and concealing a body.
Joana disappeared, presumed murdered, in the Algarve village of Figueira, near Portimão. She was last seen buying food from a nearby café on the evening of September 12 last year. Prosecutors charge that she came home to find her mother, 34-year-old Leonor Cipriano, and her uncle, 32-year-old João Cipriano, having sex. Fearful that Joana would relate the incident to her stepfather, they allege that the couple decided to kill her. The prosecution also said that the couple had repeatedly mistreated Joana, recounting that she was little more than a “servant” in her own household.
The court heard a catalogue of horrifying details, including an earlier video taped confession from Joana’s uncle in which he related the circumstances of his niece’s murder. This video testimony is now the subject of an appeal from the defence team who claim it should be excluded because the couple exercised their right to remain silent during the trial. In the taped confession, João Cipriano said he and his sister hit Joana who then banged her head against a wall before collapsing, unconscious, onto the floor. João Cipriano claimed that he had wanted to call an ambulance but that his sister prevented him, telling him instead to go to Joana’s stepfather and inform him that she had disappeared.
Her mother made subsequent public appeals for her daughter’s safe return, claiming that she had been kidnapped. But authorities began to suspect the couple after villagers noted their allegedly offhand reaction to Joana’s disappearance. Local shopkeeper Nídia Rochato remembered that Leonor neither cried nor seemed unduly concerned. When she commented on this to her, Leonor reportedly replied that she believed that her daughter was still alive.
The absence of a corpse delayed the arraignment process but the Public Ministry were able to indict the couple following statements from neighbours. Investigators also gathered forensic evidence at the house where Joana lived with her mother, stepfather and two brothers.
Pinheiro castigated Joana’s mother for her “emotional instability, insensitivity and disregard for other people’s needs”. Only when Pinheiro announced that he was pressing for a 24-year jail term for both defendants did Leonor show emotion, sobbing uncontrollably.
Pinheiro explained why his team was pressing for such a long sentence. “The defendants’ guilt is heightened by their cold and calculating behaviour after their child’s death, as well as the devious manoeuvres they adopted to conceal the crime,” he said.
The trial included key testimony from Joana’s stepfather, António Leandro, who related that Leonor had confided to him that she had had a sexual relationship with her brother. He also told the court that during this conversation, which took place a few days after Joana’s disappearance, at judicial police headquarters, Leonor had admitted that she and her brother had killed the little girl.
A key element of the prosecution’s case rests on the fact that the couple dismembered the girl’s corpse. António Leandro, confronted with photographs of tools allegedly used by the couple, said he recognised a saw he had kept at home. In the video taped confession, João Cipriano admitted that the body of the girl was dismembered and placed in a refrigerated trunk. A doctor involved in the case, Albino Santana dos Santos, conceded that body parts, matching the size of a girl of Joana’s height, could have been stuffed inside the trunk.
…….
The couple received 16 year sentences.
What the report doesn’t say is the mother waited 2 days before she notified the police.
During that time she washed her house down with petrol.Blood was found in the freezer belonging to Joana which the mother claimed came from a nose bleed after she had given Joana a beating.
3 years later the brother has written a letter in which he claimed that Joana had been sold by her mother and was not dead.
Todays Sun as well as other papers contained an article in which Leandro Silva (could he be Antonio Leandro who gave evidence against her?),described as the husband of Leonor Cipriano, claimed she was innocent and had been framed.
What do you think?

533 - “until then why not let the police attend to matters”
Watch Sky news at 7.30pm for the answer to that question.
September 30th, 2007 at 9:57 am
530 - Their actions still lead me to believe they know that Madeline is alive and well, and where she is because they are not acting like parents who have lost a child.
September 30th, 2007 at 9:55 am
The simple facts are very simple, the McCanns are guilty of child neglect,If they are guilty of something more sinister it will come out, until then why not let the police attend to matters.Having said that I would like to know what questions they refused to answer, also I have heard that they requested the protection of being made suspects, any one know if this is true.
September 30th, 2007 at 9:48 am
I think this guy took Maddie and maybe Joana as well
Goncalo Amaral: This is the matter of how Amaral, head of the regional Judicial Police, is accused of beating up a suspect during questioning. He and four fellow officers are said to have assaulted Leonor Cipriano, whose nine-year-old daughter Joana disappeared in the Algarve in 2004.
Joana’s body has never been found.
The Express (“Madeleine: Police chief quizzed over torture of mother”) has a picture of Mrs Cipriano’s bruised face. This is the same Mrs Cirpriano who, along with the girl’s uncle Joao, was convicted of killing her daughter and jailed.

Probably this has already been linked, but it’s an interesting view from the dutch investigators, who seem to have done their work well.
Maddies eyes:
Has somebody ever noticed the eyes of Maddie? That in some photos they seem to be different then in others? On at least two pictures they look like she was doped, the eyes bigger and not so clear as usual?

528 Jugdge Dread - So why are they taking the kids out of their “house of love” and sticking them in a nursery, if they haven’t gone back to work? What are they busy doing? If this whole thing wasn’t so tragic, I can imagine an “It’s A Knockout” event where people in huge rubbery “drunken doctor” costumes must finish their meal and wine (without making a mess), then swim across the pool back to the apartment before a mechanical “abductor” can abscond with big plastic baby out of the window.
September 30th, 2007 at 9:39 am
522 Althoigh leaving a child unattended in a hotel room is still wrong, it is safer than leaving a child alone in an apartment with an unlocked patio door that opens on to a public road.
To be honest there is no real comparison.
September 30th, 2007 at 9:34 am
This is from the same article about the disgruntled employee:
“The housekeeping staff are given keys to the apartments which are cleaned at least twice a week.”
I thought they had to do their own cleaning, or was that the villa that was subsequently rented by the McCanns?

Any parent having lost a child become naturally over protective of any other children. I lost a daughter 20 years a go and my 16 year old (now at college), still has to ring me on arriving at college every morning, and when leaving in the afternoon.
I or my wife have known where our children were, (or should have been), at every moment of the day.No they have not gone back to work, and don’t have plans to do so. They have a £1m to play with so why work?
The stranngers they left the children with during the day, were the same people the children would have been left with during the night. MW did not employ people to do shift work, the day staff took turns doing the evening shifts which required fewer personnel.
Are they training for the Olympics - Strange question, maybe the Hop Skip and Jump to cover 50 Yds in the quickest time, or the javelin to spear any would be abductors.

Here is a screenshot from Sky – preview of the programme they’ll be showing tonight:

So what do you think: did Sky ask the mother to dress the same way and walk to the same spot or were there other photographs of “Madeleine in Morocco”? I hope they at least gave the Moroccan family decent money for this show.
September 30th, 2007 at 9:29 am
The McNotts posted this same link earlier, but in case you haven’t read the article, here’s the link again, and two excerpts:
http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/3009_maddie.shtml
“BRITISH cops launched an urgent hunt for a new suspect in the Maddie McCann case — after an astonishing tip-off from the PRINCE OF WALES.
An anonymous email sent to the prince’s official website insists three-year-old Madeleine was kidnapped from the Mark Warner Ocean Club holiday resort in Portugal by a disgruntled ex-employee.
The informant named a maid who was sacked from the apartment complex in Praia da Luz and claimed she snatched the child in a crazed revenge plot.”
“As soon as the whistleblower’s email arrived on the royal website aides passed it to Scotland Yard.
Officers from Leicestershire police— the McCanns’ local force—are now trying to trace the writer.
The detectives have already established that the named ex-employee EXISTS and the checkable details appear to be ACCURATE.”
Didn’t one of the regular posters predict that there would be another ‘amazing revelation’ on day 150? Perhaps this is it.

518 Impartial - Stating facts and debating conflicting statements. Also has a child abduction expert who in the snipet said they could not possible have moved a dead body in the Portugese heat after 25 days because it would have been smelt up to 100Yrds away.
I can verify that fact I saw the decomposing body of one of the Stockwell Stranglers victims and it waouls also have left a maggot trail. (That has not been mentioned to date incidently. Wonder how many papers will cotton on to that fact tomorrow.)
