Madeleine McCann: The Nanny Suspect, Amaral Policing And Jail
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY. BRING IT ON.”
The Sunday Express is not the Express, which has form some weeks led with the front-page banner “MADELEINE”. The Sundays Express goes its own way.
“McCanns remain defiant as they face 40 questions from UK police this week”
“Kate and Gerry’s fury as new sighting in Morocco by businessman is ignored”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADDIE HUNT: THE TRUTH.”
The truth… At last…
“DISGRACE.”
A picture of Madeleine McCann (on the right). A picture of Portuguese copper Goncarlo Amaral (left).
“Police have ignored 250 sightings of her” – and have investigated how many?
“Cop leading police probe works four hours a day” – Amaral’s not overworked and fresh.
“He has three-hour boozy lunches with pals” – Amaral holds lengthy meetings to discuss and masticate over the case with team.
“Puffing on a cigarette and knocking back beers, the man leading the world’s biggest missing child inquiry enjoys yet another long, boozy lunch.”
Good to know that the Mirror is not wasting its time and watching him.
STAR ON SUNDAY: “THREATS TO McCANNS.”
“Friends say the couple are ‘extremely concerned’ by the nature of the threats and are considering hiring extra security.
Last night a spokeswoman for the McCanns, both 39, confirmed that they had been sent what she described as ‘negative letters and fear mail’.”
INDEPENDENT: “Maddie ‘kidnapped by maid’, says email.”
“The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said they were ‘encouraged’ by the development.”
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Kate McCann will risk jail to find Madeleine
Kate McCann has been told by her legal team that she faces jail sentence if she flouts Portuguese law to discuss details of the four-year-old’s disappearance in a high-profile television interview.
She tells a “close friend”: “I will do what I must. What does any of it matter if it helps find Madeleine?”
“It is what Kate thinks will help,” a close friend tells the paper. “What choice does she have? Unless Kate and Gerry ignore the law and speak out, their chances of finding Madeleine will dwindle further. Better to risk prison if it helps find her.
“Will the Portuguese police really prosecute a mother whose sole aim is to find her daughter or at least, God forbid, discover the whereabouts of her body? Kate, most of all, believes risking a jail sentence is nothing compared to finding Madeleine.”
Who needs an interview with Kate with friends like that?
THE OBSERVER: “This limbo that lasts a lifetime,” writes Carol Sarler.
“The McCanns are said to be devastated by dashed hopes; if so, they must get used to it, for there will be more sightings, more dashing and, to add to their misery, more harassment of more innocent families. I know this because, having investigated the disappearance of Ben Needham on Kos in 1991, the unfolding of the McCann case has felt like one long, wretched, groundhog summer.
“Ben, recapped in a nutshell: his grandparents, Eddie and Chris Needham, moved from Sheffield to Kos with their teenage son Stephen, daughter Kerry and her boyfriend and their son, Ben…
“…The singular difference between the Needhams and the McCanns is, crudely, class. Eddie has homemade tattoos on his knuckles, Chris was a grandmother at 38, Kerry and her boyfriend - a man known, as they say, to the police - lived in a council block. Perhaps this explains why, throughout their ordeal, nobody from the British consulate in Athens once got off their butt or went to Kos to help or support; surgeon Gerry McCann, by contrast, mobilised the world.”
“Arabic adverts aid Madeleine hunt”… “Despite the disappointment of last week’s misleading sighting of a blonde girl in the Moroccan town of Zaio, the McCanns believe that their daughter might be somewhere in the country.”
TIMES: No Madeleine news today.

All along I have felt unable to accept the McCann version of events.
In the very first place , they left their children alone, it has yet to be confirmed under oath that they didn’t.
Therefore they were NOT present to absolutely confirm their daughter was abducted.
The call to Sky before the police, why?
Given they claim abduction, why did they permit the contamination of a crime scene?
The placing of all the slick pr machine, for goodness sake why?
I first saw Kate McCann on the news, and was shocked to learn she was a doctor, I thought I had misheard ‘docker’
Ever since the McCann behaviour and actions have done nothing to convince me of their non -involvement in their daughter’s disappearance. I really feel though that it was accidental, but booze pride and status have put Kate and Gerry ahead of Madeleine.
They are caught up in a hell of their own making, but their child’s is far far worse, but, sadly, not as important to them as their own precious hides.
Therefore she has to be important to us

#167 - Andy. Pro-McCannic have previously suggested that the PJ would use the McCanns answers to frame them. Hardly likely now with the calibre of the McCanns current legal armada.
Moderation - but the fact is the PJ DO want the questions answered (unless you have some inside source that can contradict this), so whether it is in Portugal, England or in my kitchen I don’t think they would care.
Think not answering those questions is going to become more difficult to defend.

173: This blog quotes Daily Mail saying:
Nearly £300,000 of the fighting fund set up to help finance the search for Madeleine and support her family has been spent so far.
This represents a little under a third of the £1,036,104 given by individuals and organisations to Madeleine’s Fund, a non-charitable not-for-profit company.

173 - as a business surely it pays a salary to those ‘administering it’ ?? My question was about that and not who has/can claim from it. ( though i read a few months ago that it had paid for flights for friends/family to go and ’support’ G & K)

90 Rosemary
I hope it was a super-sized fridge-freezer. The alternative is too horrible to contemplate, specially when they claim to have ferried rotting meat, presumably frozen pieces but with slimey melty bits leaking from the binbag as it’s transferred in the heat.
Bet that gets deleted by mods (-:
By the way, anyone else think that going for a jog is a good diversion tactic? Keeps the press occupied and away from the apartment.
And I’ll go further, if they DID have a forensic crime reference journal usually used by british police, then that implies premeditation, and if you had planned to do it, wouldn’t you do it on the last day of the holiday? Which also neatly ties into the seven days in the bible story.
Yes I know it’s all speculation. Why is it taking SOoooo long for the rest of the DNA analysis? I reckon it must be serious stuff otherwise I’m sure they would have released it if it didn’t play a key part in establishing innocence or guilt.

172 - Agreed dogs don’t lie but if there is no evidence to go with whatever it was the dog found, the fact they found anything is irrelevant, because a dog cannot be cross examined in court.

Andy 167.
The Portugese do not want the McCanns to go back that’s why the questions have come here!!
They want it all to fade away.
The ordinary people in Praia have had enough of having to put up with the world press on their doorstep 24/7. Many of this years booking were not cancelled but many visitors have not rebooked purely because their holidays weren’t a bundle of laughs with bloody great news vans blocking the roads and reporters roaming the streets looking for quotes from anyone about anything.
September 30th, 2007 at 1:57 pm
FINALLY the British Media have hit upon the fact that the Portuguese simply don’t care anymore. A quick summing up of the Portuguese man-on-the-street opinion, as heard of late:
The McCanns think the PJ is incompetent and planting evidence?
The McCanns think their private detectives will find the girl?
The McCanns insist that every bit of evidence the PJ has is either misinterpreted or planted?
The McCanns refuse to answer the PJ’s questions?
The McCanns contradict everything the PJ says?
The McCanns decided to go back to the UK?
Good!
Let the McCanns and the British police solve the crime (whichever type of crime it was) and stop wasting Portuguese tax-payers’ money.
September 30th, 2007 at 1:56 pm
160 - Only the two actual family members on the board of the fund may claim money from it. It was originally for expenses to Portugal as far as I can tell.
As far as publishing the account go, they have to be published at the end of each final year but I doubt if they will be made public.
Given the fact that the income came from public donations I don’t see why any reason they don’t publish them if only for the public to keep faith in the administration of the fund. In addition to the actual donation, they should have interest in the account by now, but there is no mention of that.
To date they have spent £150,000, (an initial £70,000 and the £80,000 for the new publisity campaign).

Rather late in the day I admit, but what first alerted me to the possibility that the McCanns could be involved was Eddie - the much lauded and highly trained cadaver dog with an unblemished record.
Now we are to believe that he can’t tell the difference between rotting meat and the smell of a dead body, or that the Portuguese Police are so intent on framing the McCanns, that they planted evidence. Or maybe Renault Scenics double as hearses in that neck of the woods.

Man on the Hill - Last thread.
I wish I had written this.

I think that the killing of Madeleine by her parents and the assisted cover up by their friends and the U.K newspapers will if not brought to trial destroy what’s left of the collective british soul in a similar way to that of America with the shooting of JFK (and Bobby r.i.p). This case is sorting the wheat from the chaff. It is time to find out if you really are the free thinking human being you claim to be, or a media driven zombie who will buy any any Goddamn thing your masters tell you to.
I would like to thank this site (spud-gun your video made my partner and I cry) for helping restore my faith in humanity which has been shaken more than usual over the past few months.
When will we see what we see? Hear what we hear? Smell what we smell?
This whole episode is a symptom of the fascist plague as first diagnosed by Dr William Reich over 60 years ago but has been with us for 10 thousand. And it does not end with the catching and imprisonment of the McCann’s. It ends when we all understand why they did what they did, then and only then will our children be safe.

155 Ade said….. - we are watching a propaganda war as big and desperate as the Battle of Britain. Lies and counter-lies about how many aircraft shot down - and on a daily basis too…
Oh come on, lets not get this put of proportion here. PJ and their ’sources’ say they did it. McCanns and their sources say they didn’t. That’s it. Each side using the media to put their case.
Man on the hill (!!) 163 getting a bit carried away there methinks! You need to chill…

#166 Ade. Blimey. See David C is now adopting the ‘holding hands’ strategy…what next?
September 30th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Why are there some posters on here who keep peddling the lie that the McCanns were not called back to Portugal for further questioning because of a lack of evidence?
It was not because of a lack of evidence but because as prosecutor Luis Bilro Verao said,
“Fresh evidence justifying new interrogations has not been obtained since the original interrogations were carried out on September 7,” he said. “New interrogations have not been determined. The inquiry continues.”
(Telegraph 21/09)
Note “fresh evidence” and not no evidence.
Also, if as Mr Mitchell keeps saying, “Kate and Gerry have always said they are willing to return to Portugal at any time to help the police with their investigations.”, then why wait to be summoned? From the leaks to the press by Team McCann it is apparent that they have information that can clear their names as to any involvment in Madeleine’s disappearance so why are they not in Portugal giving this information to the Police?
And why would Mrs McCann rather face 12 months in prison to give some interviews than return to Portugal and face no time in prison for giving a truthful police interview?

Have a look at the Cameron PR machine’s tactics - same firm peut-etre?

Goading Gordie into a snap election… Dave Snooty and his Pals can’t lose. If Gordie calls an election the “I told you so” if not then Snooty is off the hook for a couple of months. Reminds me of the Lie Detector Scam not so long ago. Clearly we have all moved on from there.

146 Rosemary.
Why you are curious about when I first suspected the McCanns?. Why don’t you say what you mean and denounce me, you know you want to.
Instead of attacking me (which will do no good) why don’t you tackle the subject I have raised concerning the mass plague of fascism which threatens our beleaguered planet. Could it be that you might have to read books instead of newspapers.
Some area’s of life need to be studied at length and are not immediately tangible.

Is it possible to get hold of the accounts at any time??
I know I said no more posts but well…..

13 Ade -
They will open up the fund to look for other missing kids once they have spent it all except the last hundred quid.
What do the less privileged do when their kids go missing? Do they get a free ride whilst wallowing in their misery, or do they have to keep on earning a living? It must be lovely to indulge, like Mrs. Bennet in “Pride and Prejudice” when Lydia runs away with a man. It doesn’t help at all, but one does get a lot of attention.

The public perception is everything to those in McCannLand. I’t the only way they can wriggle off the hook, after all.
