Kate McCann has been told by her legal team that she faces jail sentence if she flouts Portuguese law to discuss details of the four-year-old’s disappearance in a high-profile television interview.
She tells a “close friend”: “I will do what I must. What does any of it matter if it helps find Madeleine?”
“It is what Kate thinks will help,” a close friend tells the paper. “What choice does she have? Unless Kate and Gerry ignore the law and speak out, their chances of finding Madeleine will dwindle further. Better to risk prison if it helps find her.
“Will the Portuguese police really prosecute a mother whose sole aim is to find her daughter or at least, God forbid, discover the whereabouts of her body? Kate, most of all, believes risking a jail sentence is nothing compared to finding Madeleine.”
Who needs an interview with Kate with friends like that?

And regarding my academic background, it’s really irrelevant. That comment did however make me smile.
I have been posing on here and have suggested what I think may have happened and what I beleive hasn’t happened on a regular basis.
And regarding you comment that I only get my information from the press, the anti-McCanns have been ready to hang the McCanns recently based on 40 questions.
Who first told the world that the 40 questions exist??
I agree that it is naive to form opinions based on press reports. Team Anti-McCann does it often.

Calm down. There is nothing wrong with following a hypothesis. It is not ludicrous to suggest that a child who should not be left alone in apartment, but was, headed toward light and sound. If there were stairs there, it is not ludicrous to suggest she could have fallen down them.
If you simply will not accept anything which might not be flattering to these parents who clearly did not put their children before their own ‘fun’ then I suggest you go somewhere else. Like MSN.

I’ve wondered for some time if no one here, as a child, ever woke up to find their parents GONE?
I know of one time when I was 3 years old. We lived in an old farmhouse in a rural area. I woke up for some reason and discovered my parents weren’t home. I started crying and walked outside looking for them but got frightened from the shadows of the trees dancing in the star and moonlight. I began calling for them aloud and then went back inside and stood on a chair in the living room and yelled “Mommy, Daddy!” through a window facing the street.
I did this for quite some time before my parents heard me. They had been at our neighbors’ house which was several yards away (this was real country and we had over 50 acres the homes were very widely spaced).
My parents immediately came home and my mother was mad because I guess I spoiled her good time. Then when she saw the footsies of my pajamas caked with dirt and debris she got really angry realising I had walked about outside and could have been hit by a car or wondered further away from the house and gotten lost without them knowing anything.
It is completely and utterly fantastic how the McCanns have insisted she could not have opened the door and simply walked out. It is equally fantastic and ludricous for anyone with a brain in their head to not see what a weak claim that is - especially considering the source.

So you think that a head injury cannot cause death, it has to be a broken neck?

Yes she could have easily been knocked unconscious by the fall or maybe she did break her neck and was killed instantly. Who knows how long she would have been there?
Anyway according to leaks…

Blood in apartment
Death Scent in car
DNA in car from dead body that had been drugged.
The leaks from the McC’s are becoming more ‘ludicrous’ as each one is released. “I haul rotting meat off to the dump” and “I saw 6 dead people the week before my holiday” and “We didn’t want to leave them with the strangers” the very strangers that had been watching them everyday…
While the leaks from the PJ are adding just one more piece of the puzzle and with each release the picture becomes more clear.
Of course it is all speculation.
My money is still on dogs though.

550 Atropia Yes there are not one but TWO new “leaked to the press” theories today (this was after a slow week, during which only ONE new theory — the transport of Maddie’s body on August 3 to Huelva Spain by G & K… NOte: Spanish policE OFFICIALLY deny PJ is actually investigating this lead at all).
New theory #1 (leaked to Portugese Press): Maddie was taken by an angry former maid, who had been recently fired by Mark Warner, who took Madeleine in “revenge” for being fired. Leaked information says PJ very excited about this new lead and they received information with “identifying details” regarding this maid.
New theory #2 Maddie fell down the stairs and died, her death was covered up.
We could probably go much farther, make a list of 200 theories at least. I’d also add the theory about organ donation — she was stolen for her organs.
Funny enough, not a single one of these theories has any real evidence to back it up (at least, no evidence that WE actually know about). Go figure!

The falling down the stairs leak corresponds to a previous leak, back in late August, that some of the police evidence includes blood found on the outside apartment wall.

Where do you get evidence he isnt convinced? If he thought they were off track he would have removed the Mccanns status of ’suspects’. He has not.
I didnt say he had chucked out the case - I was rebutting your views as they indicated you did not understand the inquisatorial justice system - I repeat that.
You obviously only read the press and have no academic background.
He must have supported their evidence so far, but wants more. We can all repeat what the press say, how about you put forward a hypothesis rather than reject hypotheses being investigated?

545 Ian - I did state that a head injury itself is not immediately fatal. I also stated that if there is an accompanying broken neck, then that can be fatal. You are right in that it is possible that she fell and died immediately. This would be due to a broken neck.
Toxicology screens are not routinely carried out on children with head injuries, nor are they routinely carried out during a postmortem, especially is there is an obvious cause of death such as massive head or neck trauma.

Maria, 437, I LOVE your list, it is very excellent!! I could add another 39 but I swear, I really don’t have time for this craziness. Still, I think you missed several VERY important theories, so I’ll add a couple:
40. The McCanns were “swingers” with other members of the Tapas 9, which proves their low moral character and also gives the friends a motive to help in the cover-up of the murder of their daughter. This proves their guilt.
41. Kate couldn’t handle Madeleine, who had CHARGE syndrome, and so killed her, chopped her into bits, and put her in the freezer to save the body. She hid this even from Gerry, and later transported Madeleine’s body to an unknown location in a suitcase in the boot of the car.
