Madeleine McCann: The Nanny Suspect, Amaral Policing And Jail
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY. BRING IT ON.”
The Sunday Express is not the Express, which has form some weeks led with the front-page banner “MADELEINE”. The Sundays Express goes its own way.
“McCanns remain defiant as they face 40 questions from UK police this week”
“Kate and Gerry’s fury as new sighting in Morocco by businessman is ignored”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADDIE HUNT: THE TRUTH.”
The truth… At last…
“DISGRACE.”
A picture of Madeleine McCann (on the right). A picture of Portuguese copper Goncarlo Amaral (left).
“Police have ignored 250 sightings of her” – and have investigated how many?
“Cop leading police probe works four hours a day” – Amaral’s not overworked and fresh.
“He has three-hour boozy lunches with pals” – Amaral holds lengthy meetings to discuss and masticate over the case with team.
“Puffing on a cigarette and knocking back beers, the man leading the world’s biggest missing child inquiry enjoys yet another long, boozy lunch.”
Good to know that the Mirror is not wasting its time and watching him.
STAR ON SUNDAY: “THREATS TO McCANNS.”
“Friends say the couple are ‘extremely concerned’ by the nature of the threats and are considering hiring extra security.
Last night a spokeswoman for the McCanns, both 39, confirmed that they had been sent what she described as ‘negative letters and fear mail’.”
INDEPENDENT: “Maddie ‘kidnapped by maid’, says email.”
“The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said they were ‘encouraged’ by the development.”
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Kate McCann will risk jail to find Madeleine
Kate McCann has been told by her legal team that she faces jail sentence if she flouts Portuguese law to discuss details of the four-year-old’s disappearance in a high-profile television interview.
She tells a “close friend”: “I will do what I must. What does any of it matter if it helps find Madeleine?”
“It is what Kate thinks will help,” a close friend tells the paper. “What choice does she have? Unless Kate and Gerry ignore the law and speak out, their chances of finding Madeleine will dwindle further. Better to risk prison if it helps find her.
“Will the Portuguese police really prosecute a mother whose sole aim is to find her daughter or at least, God forbid, discover the whereabouts of her body? Kate, most of all, believes risking a jail sentence is nothing compared to finding Madeleine.”
Who needs an interview with Kate with friends like that?
THE OBSERVER: “This limbo that lasts a lifetime,” writes Carol Sarler.
“The McCanns are said to be devastated by dashed hopes; if so, they must get used to it, for there will be more sightings, more dashing and, to add to their misery, more harassment of more innocent families. I know this because, having investigated the disappearance of Ben Needham on Kos in 1991, the unfolding of the McCann case has felt like one long, wretched, groundhog summer.
“Ben, recapped in a nutshell: his grandparents, Eddie and Chris Needham, moved from Sheffield to Kos with their teenage son Stephen, daughter Kerry and her boyfriend and their son, Ben…
“…The singular difference between the Needhams and the McCanns is, crudely, class. Eddie has homemade tattoos on his knuckles, Chris was a grandmother at 38, Kerry and her boyfriend - a man known, as they say, to the police - lived in a council block. Perhaps this explains why, throughout their ordeal, nobody from the British consulate in Athens once got off their butt or went to Kos to help or support; surgeon Gerry McCann, by contrast, mobilised the world.”
“Arabic adverts aid Madeleine hunt”… “Despite the disappointment of last week’s misleading sighting of a blonde girl in the Moroccan town of Zaio, the McCanns believe that their daughter might be somewhere in the country.”
TIMES: No Madeleine news today.

603 thanks for that. not so sure about that one. i do believe they are responsible for her death but surely if there was some truth to this theory then the mcscmms would have been covered in blood and would have had to change their clothes unnoticed and clean the steps etc. there again going by some of the things going round about them anything is possible.
September 30th, 2007 at 8:14 pm
305, This is really ridiculous. Nobody is suggesting that a body which had being lying around in the heat for weeks was transported in the car. Any doctor would know the basics about keeping a dead body without it smelling. This has been covered in countless posts already.

Miss Match….
So it is not routine to run a toxicology report? That is interesting… The McC’s surely would have known that.

We have a child missing and absolutely no evidence of an abduction in the normal sense of the word. We also have the most overwhelming contradictions. Pretty logical therefore to assume the parents know something we dont. And as they wont tell us there is a gamut of possibility that will cause theories to flourish. Unfortunately, though only one will be correct, all are remotely viable. I could give you one that you would be horrified by. And its very viable.
Most here dont want a conviction at any price, we want some truth. And we think the McCanns are the only ones who can provide it.

I am sorry but I think that Kate may have had something to do with this but she does have a little sympathy, she may have been stressed possibly sufferring a tempory mental illness, this may explain the need to befriend the rich and famous.

I’m still thinking the damage control was because they were sedating her. Probably why the fall occured too - tend to be a little unsteady when you are under the influence.
Is it not illegal to drug you kids so you can eat and drink with fiends? (that wasn’t a typo) For anyone not just Dr’s

You’re right, WE have no definite motive for the a possible cover-up, at this time. It doesn’t mean that there isn’t one. All things are possible, for now.

Firstly, I believe that the McCanns are guilty of neglecting their three young children. Their actions are, without a doubt, the cause of Madeliene going missing. What happened to cause Madeleine to go missing is what we are trying to debate in a civil manner.
If Madeleine had died by falling on the steps and, ‘having her brains spilled out’, as you so poetically put it, then there would be no need for a cover up. If she had been sedated, this would have gone unnoticed as there would not have been a routine toxicology screen performed as the cause of death, ie, massive cerebral trauma, from falling down the stairs would be obvious.
Head injuries can be fatal, although not always immediately. A serious head injury is indicated by a loss of consciousness and oedema and internal bleeding beneath the skull. It is this increase in intercranial pressure that causes the brain to be squeezed resulting in permenant brain damage, and in turn, death. Basically, there is not enough space beneath the skull for the brain, subsequent bleeding and swelling.
The type of head trauma that you mention - ‘brains being spilled out’ - on the step, is rarely seen from a simple fall down the stairs, especially in a young child as their skull is softer, but more from gunshot or blast injures.
I do believe that the McCanns are involved in the death of Madeleine. At the moment, I am just not sure what or how this happened.

590. DeeDeeDee.
Sorry. Sky News ran a programme tonight called Madeleine: Finding the truth or something, unfortunately not available to those outside the UK. I’m hoping that they, or someone, will make it available for download as I’d like to hear their “unbiased” report.
September 30th, 2007 at 8:01 pm
No we leave these things available for the likes of you and Mr Angry.
But we have heard that they are quite good for those batting for the other side. Enjoy. Bye Bye.

But if Madeleine fell down the stairs and died, we have no motive for the ensuing COVER UP.

Damage control for 2 doctors?

535 - I think - Krissie
“SECOND, to Slyfox, HUH??? 24 hours after Madeleine disappeared, there weren’t reporters crawling all over Algarve yet. So that theory goes out the window… effort to distract, etc. Second, this rumor that Gerry got a hair cut and went jogging the day after Maddie disappeared is HEARSAY and was started on this forum by a woman who claims her “friend” saw these things. There is no proof either of these things are true.
Why don’t we stick to talking about facts?”
I didn’t say that there were ‘reporters crawling all over the Algarve”. But a reporter/reporters photographed the jog/joggings so they were being followed around by the media.
Re “facts” Cheers anonymous.

Thanks Andy but no, got that one. I was under the impression by the posts that Sky News may somehting to add. Apparently not.
September 30th, 2007 at 7:57 pm
Falls are the #1 cause of death of young children.
Possible reasons for a cover-up:
1. The child was pushed. Sound crazy? In the U.S. a father shot and killed his young son for getting in front of the television. In the McCann case, the police would be able to determine whether the fall was accidental or intentional.
2. If the McCann’s little daughter had been sedated, this might be discovered. An anesthesiologist would certainly lose his license to practice if it was found that he sedated his children.
3. The parent was already drinking and was not thinking straight. Or was too embarrassed to break the news to doting relatives.
4. The little girl was harmed on the night it was reported that she cried for 75 minutes and they didn’t want that to come up.
5. Also, perfectionists have tremendous difficulty taking responsibility.
