Madeleine McCann: The Nanny Suspect, Amaral Policing And Jail
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY. BRING IT ON.”
The Sunday Express is not the Express, which has form some weeks led with the front-page banner “MADELEINE”. The Sundays Express goes its own way.
“McCanns remain defiant as they face 40 questions from UK police this week”
“Kate and Gerry’s fury as new sighting in Morocco by businessman is ignored”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADDIE HUNT: THE TRUTH.”
The truth… At last…
“DISGRACE.”
A picture of Madeleine McCann (on the right). A picture of Portuguese copper Goncarlo Amaral (left).
“Police have ignored 250 sightings of her” – and have investigated how many?
“Cop leading police probe works four hours a day” – Amaral’s not overworked and fresh.
“He has three-hour boozy lunches with pals” – Amaral holds lengthy meetings to discuss and masticate over the case with team.
“Puffing on a cigarette and knocking back beers, the man leading the world’s biggest missing child inquiry enjoys yet another long, boozy lunch.”
Good to know that the Mirror is not wasting its time and watching him.
STAR ON SUNDAY: “THREATS TO McCANNS.”
“Friends say the couple are ‘extremely concerned’ by the nature of the threats and are considering hiring extra security.
Last night a spokeswoman for the McCanns, both 39, confirmed that they had been sent what she described as ‘negative letters and fear mail’.”
INDEPENDENT: “Maddie ‘kidnapped by maid’, says email.”
“The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said they were ‘encouraged’ by the development.”
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Kate McCann will risk jail to find Madeleine
Kate McCann has been told by her legal team that she faces jail sentence if she flouts Portuguese law to discuss details of the four-year-old’s disappearance in a high-profile television interview.
She tells a “close friend”: “I will do what I must. What does any of it matter if it helps find Madeleine?”
“It is what Kate thinks will help,” a close friend tells the paper. “What choice does she have? Unless Kate and Gerry ignore the law and speak out, their chances of finding Madeleine will dwindle further. Better to risk prison if it helps find her.
“Will the Portuguese police really prosecute a mother whose sole aim is to find her daughter or at least, God forbid, discover the whereabouts of her body? Kate, most of all, believes risking a jail sentence is nothing compared to finding Madeleine.”
Who needs an interview with Kate with friends like that?
THE OBSERVER: “This limbo that lasts a lifetime,” writes Carol Sarler.
“The McCanns are said to be devastated by dashed hopes; if so, they must get used to it, for there will be more sightings, more dashing and, to add to their misery, more harassment of more innocent families. I know this because, having investigated the disappearance of Ben Needham on Kos in 1991, the unfolding of the McCann case has felt like one long, wretched, groundhog summer.
“Ben, recapped in a nutshell: his grandparents, Eddie and Chris Needham, moved from Sheffield to Kos with their teenage son Stephen, daughter Kerry and her boyfriend and their son, Ben…
“…The singular difference between the Needhams and the McCanns is, crudely, class. Eddie has homemade tattoos on his knuckles, Chris was a grandmother at 38, Kerry and her boyfriend - a man known, as they say, to the police - lived in a council block. Perhaps this explains why, throughout their ordeal, nobody from the British consulate in Athens once got off their butt or went to Kos to help or support; surgeon Gerry McCann, by contrast, mobilised the world.”
“Arabic adverts aid Madeleine hunt”… “Despite the disappointment of last week’s misleading sighting of a blonde girl in the Moroccan town of Zaio, the McCanns believe that their daughter might be somewhere in the country.”
TIMES: No Madeleine news today.

Last night, one of the Google Ads on the freekatemccann.com website was advertising ‘Cheating Spouse Tracker’. You couldn’t make it up.

Do you have anything intelligent to say about the case or are you simply here to attack people?

The Real Stig - Sorry, forgot to mention that many over the counter travel sickness medications have the side effect of drowsiness.

You a—holes! I bet this is the perp’s favorite site. Many of you are so jealous of the McCann’s position in the world and the support you get. I cannot stand you and LUDICROUS PREJUDISM. They made a mistake and lost their daughter and now you want to kick their teeth in.

807 Batman…
Heck, no, I’m not buying the Team McCann version of truth. Thanks to whatever gods that be for the Anorak forums… that way we know that we are not alone.
Keep asking those distasteful questions…

Re: my 813 post
oooppps - it looks like even the family and friends of Kate are expecting her to go to jail……LOL

766 The Real Stig Says:
If the McCanns did sedate their children, an over the counter paediatric type of antihistamine or cough mixture would have definitely made them very sleepy. I agree though that sun, sea and beach time is enough to make children very tired on holiday.
As for using stronger sedatives, possibly benzodiazepines, these are narcotics and are subject to strict controls with regard to prescribing and access. If one travels with narcotics, or ‘controlled drugs’ as they are known in the UK, then you must have these in a container, pharmacy labelled with the patients name. Failure to do this could mean that you are accused of narcotic smuggling. If the McCanns were in posession of narcotics, these would have to have been prescribed for them which is not impossible. However using these to sedate the children would be like using a sledge hammer to kill a fly when a newspaper would suffice.
As for overdosing Madeleine with sedatives, they are both doctors and will know the paediatric doses for medications off the top of their heads and overdose is highly unlikely. Gerry McCann even had his laptop with him and had he wanted to check a dose, he could have referred to the British National Formulary on line which lists, amongs other things, the dosage for age and weight of a child for every drug available in the UK.
Sorry for the delay in replying. As fast I read and reply to a query, another load of posts appear.

807. Batman,
I stopped reading the blog 2 months ago because I found it so disturbing. IN the beginning my friend and I would chat on the phone and dissect his awfully transparent words and phrases. Also, after reading it for a few months and watching him in interviews, I believe, anyone with even a basic understanding of psychology can read beneath the lines and hear the truth which lies just barely audible when he opens his “me-me-me” mouth.
He seriously misspelled Madeleine’s own name! It was funny in the beginning but I cannot even read it for laughs anymore. Madeleine deserved much better parents. All children do.

It is hidden as it is done through a proxy - interestingly though it is made by the same people who did the FindMadeleine one!

I know. I think it’s important that there are people like us asking the questions. If not, I dread to think of people getting away with murder under such dubious circumstances…if that’s what indeed it is…(or manslaughter/accidental).
I think covering it up is bigger than the crime itself if it turns out to be what happened.

#807. Freudian slip ’she is lovely’. Well I hope it still is present tense. Sadly doubt it though.

Regarding http://www.freekatemccann.com:
Is that a free Kate McCann with every packet of Shreddies?
But seriously, do we know that this domain was registered by Team McCann, or just by some speculator? I did a whois and it all seems quite hidden.

I use to read Paulo Reis too, seemed fair and objective until a month ago when his reporting became as bad as most other tabloids. And when I realised you follow this forum for your ideas. Mob mentality is never attractive and now Paulo I leave you with a final thought,

787. I cannot take credit for it! My husband made the remark when we saw the McCanns being interviewed on CNN and I believe Gerry responded to the reporter’s critical questions about their parenting skills and Gerry replied something like they’ve been “assured” by the Portugues authorities that they are excellent parents and how their belief their children didn’t need full-time supervision in the evening fell within good parenting boundaries!
These are the very same authorities they now call incompetent and compare to the Keystone Cops!
And then there was his repetitive statement about how where they were dining was: just as if we were in our very own garden.
We were laughing so hard at how ridiculous he sounded. And then my husband (who actually really likes and respects Walsh, as do I) said: This creep thinks he’s going to be the next John Walsh for missing children?!
And it looks like this might just happen with all their high level political and media contacts. I think they’re going to come out of this smelling like roses.

Reading Gerry’s blogs is just awful. Worse than hearing his and Kate’s sanctimonious victim garble. How quickly they seem to have forgotten the true little girl who has enabled them to meet the Pope, be greeted at the White House, fly on private jets and be interviewed ad nauseum by the sycophantic press. The little girl about whom all we really know is that she was born 4 years ago….oh yeh, and ’she was lovely’.
I will have to stop reading this forum so late at night, but it has been a huge comfort to know that there are other people out there who also are not buying into the whole McCann media circus.

That’s interesting information.
Do you have a source for those reports?
September 30th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
Rosemary,as far as I am aware the PJ dogs tracked Madeleines scent to the Mercado, but what was not made public at that time was that the dogs had not picked up any other scent other than Madelein’s,by that I mean a foreign scent as an intruder would leave. The British press are making a big mistake by attacking Goncarlo Amaral one of the policia leading the case,he is a very astute and formidable investigator, you should not believe all that your press write about him,the Cipriano woman is very bad person and also very guilty I spit in her eye. This is very bad case but do not be thinking Amaral will not solve it ,he will.To the leaks from the PJ other places also,is very simple answer,no leaks your very bad press invent them as you say make them up.

If the McCanns had killed their daughter (which they haven’t), they would not bury her without proper Catholic Rites.
is ignorant rubbish if you ask me.
anyone who’ll wrap their daughter in a bin bag won’t think twice about ditching said bag regardless of what god says.

I detect a lot of anti-catholic predjudice on this site. If the McCanns had killed their daughter (which they haven’t), they would not bury her without proper Catholic Rites.
In accordance with Catholic teaching, the funeral service for a Catholic consists of bringing the body of the deceased to the Church, the celebration there of Mass, followed by interment, preferably in the consecrated ground of a Catholic cemetery.
While the Catholic Church accepts cremation, the body of the deceased must be present in the Church at a Mass of Christian Burial.
Therefore, cremation must be delayed until after the Funeral Mass has taken place. It is important to inform the pastor of the Church where the funeral is to be held if there is to be a cremation.
Comments about muttering a few Hail Marys are ignorant rubbish

Stigg - The kids had had sun, sand, maybe wind and playing with other kids. In my experience that might have been enough sedative
You have got to be kidding me!!!
I have not met a mum yet that would agree with you.
At home - yes a day at the beach tires them out - but on holiday - sleeping in a strange bed - no way!!!
My kids go to bed no problem after a routine of a bath and betime story. Routines comfort kids.
But every holiday we have been on - including this summer - my kids can go on an on and on with energy - a morning toristing, an afternoon in the shade playing games and an afternoon at the beach followed by a dip in the pool before getting ready for an evening meal and we were knackered - but the kids were dancing on the stage with the cabaret act at 11pm!!!!
And so were everyone elses kids!
And we love it - we absoloutely enjoy these moments - ideally we should siesta in the afternoon sun and we would have easily - but the kids would not !
They are little for such a short time and while they are you are their heroes!
Who wouldn’t enjoy their company? It is no sacrifice to be kept awake by excited children - if you don’t like the sound of that then why have kids????
September 30th, 2007 at 11:21 pm
why would she lie though?
September 30th, 2007 at 11:21 pm
784, Simon
British police watched the PJ interview with Kate McKann from another room, suggesting the questions which were put to her, according to newspaper reports, so she was effectively interviewed by British detectives.

787 - Miss Match
Good evening to you. I just think that most cases are always simpler than you think when the truth comes out. All cases in history are like that. There’s not usually anything more than a simple explanation.
In the case of the McCanns, they already had a bizarre and controversial method of parenting by leaving the kids alone to go out socialising. They probably thought that to come up with an abduction theory and to make out they were doing everything in their power would gloss over the simple fact that they neglected their children. I think that it spiralled out of control for them because they set off a domino-effect that was bigger than they ever imagined.
September 30th, 2007 at 11:20 pm
The whole thing is so sordid. Even if there WAS a third-party abduction, the way that the McCanns have used their daughter’s plight is appalling. No one will ever convince me that they are not enjoying their celebrity status and new lifestyle.
Reading Gerry’s blogs is the worst.

778. Is there any way to know who owns the site? Isn’t possible that someone who wishes to exploit money through this tragedy has simply purchased the name in hopes that the McCanns will want it some day?

PAULO REIS 765
Thank you very much for that most informative piece of information. Not only does it kick old Stig of the Dump in the goolies for half an hour, but it also provides yet ANOTHER example of British Media manipulating FALSE Press coverage of Maddy. It is clearly a most tenable facet, is it not, to show that an eye witness was clearly either mistaken or was lying, if a CCTV fails to confirm what the eye-witness alleged?. Why ITN would state that the CCTV tape was destroyed, other than to still perpetuate this ’sighting’, I can not imagine….
September 30th, 2007 at 11:19 pm
I wonder if the falling down stairs theory has any relation to the broken neck/neck injury theory that was hinted at some time back? There was speculation that a fine spray of blood consistent with this type of trauma had been found by the dog-that one went quiet.
Lets face it-we have very little fact. Juicy titbits are offered then withdrawn again and both sides are leaking like the Mccanns prefered brand of nappies.
