Madeleine McCann: The Nanny Suspect, Amaral Policing And Jail
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE MYSTERY. BRING IT ON.”
The Sunday Express is not the Express, which has form some weeks led with the front-page banner “MADELEINE”. The Sundays Express goes its own way.
“McCanns remain defiant as they face 40 questions from UK police this week”
“Kate and Gerry’s fury as new sighting in Morocco by businessman is ignored”
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADDIE HUNT: THE TRUTH.”
The truth… At last…
“DISGRACE.”
A picture of Madeleine McCann (on the right). A picture of Portuguese copper Goncarlo Amaral (left).
“Police have ignored 250 sightings of her” – and have investigated how many?
“Cop leading police probe works four hours a day” – Amaral’s not overworked and fresh.
“He has three-hour boozy lunches with pals” – Amaral holds lengthy meetings to discuss and masticate over the case with team.
“Puffing on a cigarette and knocking back beers, the man leading the world’s biggest missing child inquiry enjoys yet another long, boozy lunch.”
Good to know that the Mirror is not wasting its time and watching him.
STAR ON SUNDAY: “THREATS TO McCANNS.”
“Friends say the couple are ‘extremely concerned’ by the nature of the threats and are considering hiring extra security.
Last night a spokeswoman for the McCanns, both 39, confirmed that they had been sent what she described as ‘negative letters and fear mail’.”
INDEPENDENT: “Maddie ‘kidnapped by maid’, says email.”
“The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said they were ‘encouraged’ by the development.”
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: Kate McCann will risk jail to find Madeleine
Kate McCann has been told by her legal team that she faces jail sentence if she flouts Portuguese law to discuss details of the four-year-old’s disappearance in a high-profile television interview.
She tells a “close friend”: “I will do what I must. What does any of it matter if it helps find Madeleine?”
“It is what Kate thinks will help,” a close friend tells the paper. “What choice does she have? Unless Kate and Gerry ignore the law and speak out, their chances of finding Madeleine will dwindle further. Better to risk prison if it helps find her.
“Will the Portuguese police really prosecute a mother whose sole aim is to find her daughter or at least, God forbid, discover the whereabouts of her body? Kate, most of all, believes risking a jail sentence is nothing compared to finding Madeleine.”
Who needs an interview with Kate with friends like that?
THE OBSERVER: “This limbo that lasts a lifetime,” writes Carol Sarler.
“The McCanns are said to be devastated by dashed hopes; if so, they must get used to it, for there will be more sightings, more dashing and, to add to their misery, more harassment of more innocent families. I know this because, having investigated the disappearance of Ben Needham on Kos in 1991, the unfolding of the McCann case has felt like one long, wretched, groundhog summer.
“Ben, recapped in a nutshell: his grandparents, Eddie and Chris Needham, moved from Sheffield to Kos with their teenage son Stephen, daughter Kerry and her boyfriend and their son, Ben…
“…The singular difference between the Needhams and the McCanns is, crudely, class. Eddie has homemade tattoos on his knuckles, Chris was a grandmother at 38, Kerry and her boyfriend - a man known, as they say, to the police - lived in a council block. Perhaps this explains why, throughout their ordeal, nobody from the British consulate in Athens once got off their butt or went to Kos to help or support; surgeon Gerry McCann, by contrast, mobilised the world.”
“Arabic adverts aid Madeleine hunt”… “Despite the disappointment of last week’s misleading sighting of a blonde girl in the Moroccan town of Zaio, the McCanns believe that their daughter might be somewhere in the country.”
TIMES: No Madeleine news today.

Playing catch up - hate when real life gets in the way of cyber sleuthing.
I was under the impression that McNanny had the kids that day until High Tea.
So when is High Tea and if you don’t mind ‘what’ is high tea?

OMIGOD they’ve got a blog!
http://freekatemccann.com/blog/
It looks remarkably like a news feed.
Verdict: Not slick enough for Team McCann; they can afford better. Smacks of opportunism by a third party.
Free Kate McCann with every third dodgy theory on what happened to young Madeleine…

838. Tri Domain speculators don’t keep them anomynous - how else would they be able to sell them?
837. Stevo - I see your point - I can’t comment much or argue a point that I don’t know much about .
As I said a friend that makes a living trading domain names helped me with that one - you are both probably correct!
Still a coincidence I reckon though as godaddy is not often used by web designers - and both were used by godaddy - so probably built by same people - but I have no evidence to back this up!

822 Anonymous. If a child had been in the sun all day, there is the possibility that they would be dehydrated and have a resulting low grade fever. This could make the actual medication dose in the body very slightly higher, as the circulating volume of blood in the body would be more concentrated. An adverse reaction would not happen because of this though.
The McCanns, being doctors, would be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

I read two versions of the story about the CCTV. One said it existed and was examined by the Moroccan authorities and another - the ITV report - which stated the HD had been wiped
The story of the HD being wiped is repeated by most news outlets:
24dash, dailymail, mailonsunday, mirror, sundaymirror
and so on.
Since I could not see how both reports could be true, I pointed out the inconsistency. There was no statement that the ITV report was incorrect.
If on that page you had clearly stated that the ITV report was incorrect in saying the HD had been wiped, I would not have made the error I did, but I apologise to you for misinterpreting what I read and the inference I then made from that.

829. Is “prejudism” even a real word?
September 30th, 2007 at 11:57 pm
Bear in mind that if an accident did occur and then the smoke screen of an abduction theory was manufactured to help dispose of the body, it would be impossible to back down and tell the truth. The whole incident would take on a life of its own - which it has. A simple “let’s say she was abducted” story would be easy to go along with at first because all the media were fuelling that story and took it at face value from day 1. I just think the McCanns are in over their heads now.

826. Were you thinking it’s Krissie too?
September 30th, 2007 at 11:56 pm
818 Kate.
Please remember that this is about the child.
Madeleine has been abducted (maybe) killed (maybe) abused (maybe) neglected (definately).
Jealous of the Mccanns? Good grief. On what basis do you make that assumption!
Personally I agree with the NSPCC and other child protection organisations (many of which our beloved Heart Consultant is rubbing shoulders ‘on the same level’ as) who are appalled at child neglect. They are right, we must focus on Maddie and anyone who has harmed her or caused her harm. Starting at those who have failed her - because others may do the same unless an example is made of them. Jealous of their money and power? Angry at it, but jealous?
You jest.

Kate - LUDICROUS PREJUDISM
- I never heard that expression before I heard the mcCanns speak - so I guess you must know them very well!
The McConns have not lost their daughter - they know exactly where they left her!

828 spindoctors…
I think what you are saying is right but things are a-changing… within the last 6 months I spent a bit of time researching domain names for a new product… it had something to do with travel, and it was absolutely amazing that almost every name you could come up with that had anything to do with travel was registered, and many of them anonymously like that one is. Not in use, just domain name speculation.
Please understand, I don’t think that it is beneath Team McCann to have registered this domain. However, I also think there are loads of people out there who speculate on registering domain names who might have done it as well. The whois entry, to my mind, gives no information.

828 - Spindoctors
There’s absolutely nothing strange about registering a domain name with Godaddy and keeping it anonymous. Whoever told you that doesn’t know what they’re on about.
I have several registered domains with Godaddy and I use the “private” registration option because why would I want my own personal address to be shown to the world? When you pay your $8.95 with Godaddy, you use a credit card and therefore the address is the same as the one you use for registration. It’s easier to pay a bit more and tick the “private” box.
There’s nothing weird about this at all.

When I looked at your site, this is what I read:
—————————————
Paulo, I was under the impression that the CCTV was not collected until a month after the fact and by then it was erased? Where is this information sourced from?

Paulo Reis said…
That’s not an impression, that’s a story form Emma Murphy, ITV News:
“ITV News correspondent Emma Murphy visited the petrol station where Mrs Olli saw the girl.
She said: “Incredibly, that was the only place in Morocco where we saw CCTV cameras - there was a chance there could have been footage of the girl.
“But they said it was recorded on the hard disk, then wiped.”

832. LOL. Maybe Kate needs to eat some tapas and drink a big glass of rioja to calm her jangled nerves?
September 30th, 2007 at 11:52 pm
Miss Match:
Many reports suggested that the PJ were looking at two ’sedation’ scenarios - overdose OR adverse/allergic reaction.
What do you make of the scenario in which, following Mrs Fenn’s complaints of Kate crying for her daddy for 1 3/4 hours on May 1, the McCanns, perhaps in association with O’Brien (who lectured on opiate pharmacology in 2003), started a new sedation regime on 2 May, which sensitized Madeleine to a drug which, orally administered, provoked an allergic reaction that compromized breathing on 3 May?
As doctors, the obvious emergency intervention would have been an improvised tracheotomy, resulting in the apparently attested bleeding which is otherwise difficult to relate to a sedation scenario.
And if sedation is not a factor (despite the McCanns and O’Briens using NEITHER babysitting or bay monitors, like the other two familes), then what kind of trauma (with bleeding) would be so compromizing the parents couldn’t risk an autopsy?
After all, the parents and any accomplices were risking an awful lot, on the almost unavoidable ‘cover-up’ hypothesis - the end of their careers, many years in prison, loss of their (remaining) children. What inevitable autopsy results would make this risk worth taking?

i haven’t looked, but usually with a lot of these proxy places , the names are leased from the proxy place.
i’m not sure even the mc canns will know that, or if it will matter unless they try to increase the price next year or something.

Yes you are right I am absolutely green with envy… do you think if I kick their teeth in I will become famous enough to take a private jet to meet the Pope? I don’t want to earn money, I want other people to earn it, and then give it to me!

801 Dubious
i was brought up Catholic. As someone else has pointed out, A young child who has been baptised but has not reached an age capable of sin would be admitted to heaven automatically accorfing to the teachings of that church. I think the cut off point is around 7yrs when confession and communion are taken.
People in such a desperate situation doing such an awful thing would be hardly be worried about that aspect-neeeds must when the devil drives and all that.

823. Trimegistus - It is rare for UK people to register in this way.
Domain names are not usually done anomynously.
This is rare and would have been done
a. Either to protect the identity of a benefactor or
b. To remain anomynous.
The friend who helped me find this has seen 10 thousand domain names and never seen one registered in this way before!

Dear Kate,
You’re right in part of your vitriole.
I’m jealous of bad narcissistic nasty people who get away with repeatedly doing bad things. Reminds me of my careless drunk older brother who never cared about anyone but himself.

805, Louie,
I don’t think the British Press is any less inventive than the Portuguese, where many of the leaked stories came from. I do think many reporters are very lazy and real investigative reporting is a thing of the past. Let’s hope Amaral gets his evidence soon.

813 spindoctors…
Interesting that it is done through the same people (presumably godaddy and Domains by Proxy) that the findmadeleine site is done by… however, I don’t think that this is proof of anything, as they are both quite popular services.
I’ve had dealings with both recently in trying to recover domains that had been cybersquatted (because we lost track of them, oops), and I’m pretty sure that this situation had absolutely nothing to do with the poor wee girl Madeleine.
In short, it could be pure chance that these companies are the same in both cases.
That said, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there is a link.

I don’t know anything about medicines but wondered if with a child having been in the sun all day and then given, even a small dosage, could this cause an adverse reaction which normally would never happen?
