You are right 471. I researched the statistics. It is very rare for children 5 and under to be kidnapped. Sexual wierdos usually go after the older children, prep-teen.
I still find it difficult to understand how any parent could eat and drink after such a miserable situation as a one’s child dying - accident or not. Are there any cases of this happening?
But lust is a strange creature. And usually one lusts after what is in front of their eyes - what they watch and see and encounter. Lust doesn’t think, oh I could buy a little girl on the black market and that would be so much better for me. Lust takes a walk and watches at the beach and sees the young lithe creature bending down to play in the sand and lust leaps at the chance - oh what if - this is what I want. I can do this. So lust follows and plans and plots and then gets sweet reward.
Maybe lust didn’t want to do it, tried to reform, spent time in AAA meetings or sexual defiant meetings, whatever, so it happen sone afternoon on a casual walk on the beach in the sunny Portuguese light and lust sees the pretty little blond girl named Madeleine.

Abduction by person or persons unknown makes little sense.
First, there is a massive reward on offer, so I doubt whether “persons” or a “ring” or a “gang” are involved. The temptation for someone to shop the others would to great.
Why would anyone abduct the daughter of rich holidaying Westerners? Paedophiles exploit the weak and vulnerable (orphans, children in reform homes or in prison, family memebrs in thrall to a a patriarch). People traffickers can find easy victims in many parts of the world (Eastern Europe, North Africa) where life is cheap and it is easy to buy children for little. So, it just isn’t worth a criminal gang spending all the time and effort alleged to track the McCanns movements so as to snatch one of their children.
And even if they did go to all that effort, why not take all three?
Ransom is the only reason that a child of the rich McCanns would be snatched. But, there is never been any suggestion of a ransom note, so this can seemingly be discounted.
So, no Harry Hind Sight — your theory is not the simplest. There’s a simpler one.

There’s so many theories and so many stories and rumor upon rumor. All this is getting weary. Someone will stumble across her body and at least part of this will end. The where is Maddie part.
As to the rest, we may never find out who killed her. Never. And in the process many lives will be ruined. But at least the search will end.

Well I just am not seeing abduction. (and I’m the first to admit this is all based on ‘leaky’ evidence)
Eddie located the smell of death in the apartment, on Kate’s clothes, CuddleCat, Key Fob and boot of their car.
Keela located blood on stairs, in apartment.
Bodily fluids and hair found in boot of car - hinted at corpse
Sedation.
Top that with the fact that a Stranger Abduction is extremely rare.
The only abduction evidence I can see is the Tanner Egg Man
