Madeleine McCann: ‘Bad Dad’ Gerry McCann, The Psychic Barber And Drugs
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “Madeleine was drugged but it was by kidnapper says her grandmother.”
Page 9: “Madeleine’s family: She was drugged…but not by parents.”
Eileen McCann, Gerry’s mother – says: “I really believe they [whoever took her] gave her a drug. There is no way they carried her out of there without her waking. If she was taken when she was sleeping by somebody she did not know, she would have screamed the place down.”
Alternatively, she was taken by someone she did know? Or Mrs McCann is just speculating.
“’BAD DAD’ GERRY” – Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says Gerry, “a heart consultant”, is a “negligent father”. This is his “astonishing rant”.
THE SUN front page: “Mystics hunt for Maddie.”
Around 150 leads provided by mystics have been followed up.
Page 6: “ASK PSYCHIC BARBER TO HELP FIND MADDIE” – Clairvoyant Gordon Smith has been contacted by the family. Smith hosts TV’s Most Haunted show. He says he can tell if Madeleine is alive or dead. Mick is nicknamed “THE PSYCHIC BARBER”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “McCANNS: SHE WAS DRUGGED.”
Page 5: “‘Madeleine must have been drugged..she would have screamed place down’” – GRANDMOTHER EILEEN McCANN YESTERDAY.”
“Couple call on psychic to help” – Ex-hairdresser Smith is a “wacky medium”.
Says he: “In order for it to work I need to sit with the closest relatives who would be the parents. Then I’d tune in and see what I can pick up. But I would always warn them that there’s a possibility nothing might happen.”
Best to warn them of that first…
DAILY MAIL page 5: “Now police leader mocks ‘negligent’ Gerry McCann over his fears that an abductor was in Maddie’s room.”
“Call for the ‘psychic barber’” – “Despite both being strict Roman Catholics, the couple have already made contact” with Gordon Smith.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE I’LL FIND BODY IN DAYS. Parents call in psychic.”
Page 7: “MADDIE’S PARENTS CALL FOR PSYCHIC BARBER” – “I have offered my help for free,” says Smith. “I never charge for private readings. I have already assured them I will say nothing to the press.” Indeed, not. Best save it for the book.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 15: “Police chief accuses McCanns of hindering inquiry” – Carlos Anjos accuses McCanns of using “diversion tactics”.
THE TIMES page 27: “McCanns ‘considering psychic help’”
THE GUARDIAN no Maddie new today.

Of course not!
The most difficult abductions to prove are “alien”. So that explains everything!

415 BRANDONFLOURS,
I can go along with most of your reasonable theories/explanations listed in this post other than your dismissive attitude towards the ‘cadaver’ dogs……
I personally don’t doubt their expertise and proof of their abilities and past successes is easy to verify. According to what we have been ‘informed!’ they distinctly conveyed to their handlers the presence of a corpse in several locations….I can’t at the moment be swayed to believe the explanation given …..contact with corpses at work?….sorry, but when it comes to what the truth is I’d believe the dogs any day! woof

Madeleine McCann detective attacks UK police
By Aislinn Simpson in Praia da Luz
Last Updated: 2:49pm BST 02/10/2007
The Portuguese detective heading the inquiry into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has launched a breathtaking attack on his British counterparts, claiming they only investigate what the missing four-year-old’s parents want them to.
Chief Inspector Goncalo Amaral is leading the day-to-day investigation into the vanishing of the toddler from her parents’ rented apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3.
The 47-year-old detective not only laid into police but also attacked the McCanns, accusing them of “creating and working on” lines of inquiry which they then pass onto Leicestershire Police to investigate.
A family friend said it was “just plain wrong” that Kate and Gerry, both 39-year-old doctors from Rothley in Leicestershire, were seeking to exert any influence on the investigation, adding that British police were only involved to act as a liaison between the family and Portuguese detectives.
And one of the McCanns’ two Portuguese lawyers, Carlos Pinto Abreu, told Lisbon radio station TSF that Mr Amaral’s comments were “in very poor taste” and “unhelpful to the investigation”.
Chief Inspector Amaral, who heads the Policia Judiciaria in the nearby town of Portimao and is himself under investigation for allegedly concealing evidence about an alleged assault on the mother of another missing child, was speaking to the daily newspaper Diario de Noticias.
“The British police have only been working on that which the McCann couple want them to and which is most convenient for them,” he said.
“The have only investigated tips and information developed and worked on for the McCanns, forgetting that the couple are formal suspects in the death of their daughter Madeleine.”
The paper said the detective, who has come under fire in the British press for his “boozy” three-hour lunches and allegedly failing to investigate some of the tip-offs his 30-strong team of officers have received, was in an “explosive and indignant” mood during the brief interview.
Sources said his comments follow five months of gripes about the British police involved in the case.

Oooohhhhh Just read sky text, so the police finally recognise the fact that GM was indescribably negligent.
Maybe they should have checked here, we’ve been saying that from day one.
Why only GM though, they were both equally negligent in leaving the children.
Surely its not only the fact that he realised after the event that someone may have been in the apartment when he was checking the children. That was not negligence, that was moronic.
I wonder if they will be calling him back now to charge him with negligence.

this has probably been used before but I thought I’d bring it up again just to show why some of us are so skeptical
Susan Smith
The case gained worldwide attention shortly after it developed, because Smith initially reported to police, on October 25, 1994, that she had been carjacked by an African-American man who drove away with her sons still in the car. Smith made tearful pleas on television for the rescue and return of her children. A Usenet chain letter circulated in the following days, asking Internet users to be on the lookout for the vehicle. However, nine days later, following an intensive, heavily publicized investigation and nationwide search, Smith eventually confessed to letting her 1990 Mazda Protegé roll into nearby John D. Long Lake, drowning her children inside. Many people across the United States and around the world, to whom she and her two “missing” sons had been the subject of an outpouring of sympathy, felt strongly betrayed. Their reaction to the betrayal was further aggravated by the fact that she had attempted to cast blame, falsely, upon an African-American man, making the case racially sensitive. Additionally, her alleged motive for the deaths — to dispose of her children so that she might have a relationship with a wealthy local man who had no interest in a “ready-made” family — was met with widely held contempt and revulsion. There has been no answer from Susan Smith regarding her choice not to give her husband custody of the children, instead of killing them.
Smith pleaded not guilty, despite her confessions, when prosecutors refused to offer a plea bargain. Her lawyers sought access to an advance copy of a book written by her ex-husband, David Smith, about the marriage and about Susan Smith’s killing of her sons. Eventually David Smith struck an agreement allowing the lawyers to receive an advance copy of the book, which they could use to impeach him and for any other purpose relevant to her defense.[2]

Good idea. I’ve been on the lookout for anything pre-1:29pm on the 3rd and found nothing. After that I guess the best way to track movements is Gerry’s Blog. I’ve got a link to his archived blogs from day 1. I’ll see a bit later this afternoon…

So Lust walks the hallways at dinnertime when everyone is enjoying a bottle of wine and checks the doorhandles. The handle moves. He peeks in - an empty room. He keeps going, no one is around. He checks all the handles. He opens another door. Oh what good fortune. The children are alone and alseep. He moves quietly - his tennis shoes glidie across the carpet. He nudges Maddie. She opens her eyes. I’m taking you to mommy he whispers. Then they disappear. Like the snake that he is. Gone into the night. Not even a crumb left behind, nothing, he has his prize. Maddie is his.

when tell me when and where these negative comments were written and I am particularly interested in the ones from employers. I was commenting on the fact that someone suggested it could have been a murder and I said I was not convinced by this because there would be no motivation for murder. The son of Sam killed many people, he was a serial killer. Are you comparing the McCanns now to serial killers?? If someone were horrible enough even in the fit if rage to kill their child there usually would be backlog of evidence of previous physical abuse. Sorry I don’t buy the murder theory at all.

Bit rich but to be expected. You are incapable of reading and comprehending what others write. Think there is a term for the condition - terminal stupidity!
October 2nd, 2007 at 5:23 pm
Sunny………….In fact all their working colleagues and employers speak highly of them and their characters. The PJ know there would be no motive for murder.
———————————————————————————
No they do not ALL… that is just the only ones printed in press. Prior to Clarence there were negative comments from both work colleagues and friends, now loosely “banned” in mainstream press .So nobody knows a thing for a FACT about what may or may not be a motive. Perfectly normal respectable people have been known to just snap and commit horrendous crimes. Followed by statements from F&F that ” but they are such good quiet decent folk ” Everyone who knew Son of Sam guy said but he was so sweet and kind…………..Likewise Leopold and Loeb.. the list is endless , so endless it is often the least expected that do these things

Kate maybe a complusive neat freak. Maybe she always washed it on a regular basis so this is nothing new. She isn’t thinking right - she just wants to make things better.
Yup, all sorts of possibilities. In the end we are all different and that does not make us a bad people… To me loosing a child must be the worst thing happening in life. I can’t possibly know how Kate feels. No one can not even her husband…
