Ian, to the contrary, I’m perfectly willing to say the McCanns are smarmy, weird, shallow, obsessed with appearances, and negligent … GUILTY of neglect, absolutely, and neglect is a crime. Fine. But I am NOT willing to say they are likely also guilty of murder, and covering up a murder. To me, those are two different discussions. To my mind, you seem to be using the “guilty of neglect” statement to back up your “guity of murder” theory and I disapprove of this leap of logic.

The only real evidence we have is “thin” and points to the McCanns. And that is blood washed from curtains? Sniffer dogs hitting on various items? What seems like odd behavior from the McCanns.
I bet the Portuguese Police have an ace in their pocket - we just don’t know what it is.

Maicen- because I, like most of my fellow humans, am very defensive by nature. And if you HAD been reading my posts you would know that I am not “pro” McCann. I am “anti” wild theorizing (except when it suits my need for humor, such as yesterday, when I claimed to have information regarding the illegal sale of Madeleine’s internal organs). I fully admit the McCanns may be guilty. However, there is no evidence as such, just as there is no evidence she was kidnapped.

601. Me too. That is the problem with this entire affair - we simply don’t know who or what to believe since all our sources come from the media and not court records or transcripts.
I too find the timeline and other things hard to believe. Could this be a giant conspiracy? Seems unlikely. I too look for the simpliest explanation.
I remember the Lacy Peterson Murder in Modesto, California. Her husband killed her. Tried to make it seem as if a stranger did it. He chopped her up and took her to the bay. The dogs ID scent in his boat. Scott even went back to the spot where he dumped her body and watched. It was all so strange…….he had an answer for everything. They found the body of the unborn child first and then Lacy after it was partially eaten by fish - they found both on the shores of the bay. Without the testimony of his girlfriend, and I forget her name now, Scott may have never been convicted.
He cleaned the house with bleach too. The house was spotless!
So strange stuff does happen.

I think part of Maicen’s point is that this story about Kate’s college reputation was quickly removed from the press because it did not reflect well on the McCanns. Whether you or anyone else think it’s a big deal is not the point. The assumption is that it could have been pulled because it does not slant ‘for’ the McCanns. Where’s freedom of speech if only one side can be presented by the British press? All allegations against them are qualified as ’slurs’ and ’smears.’ Meanwhile media attacks against the PJ performance and reputation are perfectly acceptable by same reporters. Nice for the media to judge for us what is and is not the truth ahead of time. Makes life so much simpler, doesn’t it.

The Mccanns are guilty of neglect - they failed in their duty of care. One day it is to be hoped that the precedent of neglect will be overturned and they will be prosecuted for that neglect.
At the moment, people like you and rich people like the barrow boy Branson give this neglect the cover of righteousness. You seem to beleive that its ok to beleive things that are good for the Mccanns and disagreee without providing any evidence with anything that might make them look less than fine upstanding and loving parents.
As to leaks, whats wrong with leaks? We are getting enough from ‘friends close to the Mccanns’ so why not the other way?
Without these leaks, the Mccanns would be on the TV again desperately trying to create a tear…and most of us, I suspect, could do without that. SO if you arent interested in logical debate and analysis of the little we do know, why don’t you go to church and pray to some rather two faced deity?

590. So right Ian. But TBS will talk until the moon turns blue about how even if the McCanns had been home in Leceister this could have happened. Or even if they would have taken the kids with them to the restaurant (what a novel idea!) this could have happened. And how if the McCanns were to take their children on a helicopter flight and the copter crashes does this too make them negligent parents. And you have probably heard all the other scenarios as well.
According to those sending money to the McCanns the reasons we need to respect and believe them are numerous:
The McCanns are “innocent until proven guilty” (They don’t seem to ever recall guilty people who have never been proven guilty and still roam freely amongst civil society.)
The Mccanns are really good looking
The McCanns are a devout Roman Catholics
The McCanns are doctors
The McCanns are hard working
The McCanns are spending a lot of money trying to find their daughter so their claims must be true! (Again these supporters seem to be blind to who is really being spot-lighted, supported and marketed through these campaigns.)

And they are going to use this information to…. what?? Convince you that Iran is hiding weapons of mass destruction, perhaps, and stage an invasion to recover them and oust the Iranian leader. There we go!! I’m sure GWB is in on this one….

593 I do not think the dogs made a mistake - they obviously smelled the death scent. The wheres and whys etc. of it - finding an explanation - is the difficult part.
