Madeleine McCann: ‘Bad Dad’ Gerry McCann, The Psychic Barber And Drugs
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “Madeleine was drugged but it was by kidnapper says her grandmother.”
Page 9: “Madeleine’s family: She was drugged…but not by parents.”
Eileen McCann, Gerry’s mother – says: “I really believe they [whoever took her] gave her a drug. There is no way they carried her out of there without her waking. If she was taken when she was sleeping by somebody she did not know, she would have screamed the place down.”
Alternatively, she was taken by someone she did know? Or Mrs McCann is just speculating.
“’BAD DAD’ GERRY” – Carlos Anjos, head of the Portuguese Police Federation, says Gerry, “a heart consultant”, is a “negligent father”. This is his “astonishing rant”.
THE SUN front page: “Mystics hunt for Maddie.”
Around 150 leads provided by mystics have been followed up.
Page 6: “ASK PSYCHIC BARBER TO HELP FIND MADDIE” – Clairvoyant Gordon Smith has been contacted by the family. Smith hosts TV’s Most Haunted show. He says he can tell if Madeleine is alive or dead. Mick is nicknamed “THE PSYCHIC BARBER”.
DAILY MIRROR front page: “McCANNS: SHE WAS DRUGGED.”
Page 5: “‘Madeleine must have been drugged..she would have screamed place down’” – GRANDMOTHER EILEEN McCANN YESTERDAY.”
“Couple call on psychic to help” – Ex-hairdresser Smith is a “wacky medium”.
Says he: “In order for it to work I need to sit with the closest relatives who would be the parents. Then I’d tune in and see what I can pick up. But I would always warn them that there’s a possibility nothing might happen.”
Best to warn them of that first…
DAILY MAIL page 5: “Now police leader mocks ‘negligent’ Gerry McCann over his fears that an abductor was in Maddie’s room.”
“Call for the ‘psychic barber’” – “Despite both being strict Roman Catholics, the couple have already made contact” with Gordon Smith.
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE I’LL FIND BODY IN DAYS. Parents call in psychic.”
Page 7: “MADDIE’S PARENTS CALL FOR PSYCHIC BARBER” – “I have offered my help for free,” says Smith. “I never charge for private readings. I have already assured them I will say nothing to the press.” Indeed, not. Best save it for the book.
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 15: “Police chief accuses McCanns of hindering inquiry” – Carlos Anjos accuses McCanns of using “diversion tactics”.
THE TIMES page 27: “McCanns ‘considering psychic help’”
THE GUARDIAN no Maddie new today.

They are the original hoodies for sure!
It’s the same principal though isn’t it? Hide your face from criminal acts.
Talking of that, I filed a lawsuit recently against a defendant that claimed they weren’t racist but they had a wealth of material including videos of said “southern hoodies”. They also had a policy of only hiring whites in a company of 80-100 people. A bit hard to say you’re not racist huh? I’ll let you know how that case progresses…

868 - Chloe Spain. This is very interesting. Do you know if Kate and Gerry were asked the same set of questions?
October 2nd, 2007 at 9:57 pm
793. Andy thanks for posting that article. I missed it earlier. Important to read for all (if you really are a truth seeker!)

Inasumuch as I can be qualified as “pro-McCann” (while in fact I am only “anti-wild-theorizing”), I think it’s highly unlikely the other mom is innocent. That doesn’t mean she didn’t get beaten by police, though– both the innocent and guilty are victims of police brutality sometimes.

Hello everyone:
Please, Wake up and smell the coffee..Everyone in here, for the most part, is living on speculation. That’s fine, if that’s how you wish to spend your time. Amaral getting dismissed..That tells you a whole lot about PJ. Yes, maybe there was DNA, and maybe she did get sedated and fell down the stairs..Maybe her parents are responsible..This is all speculation. There is not one piece of evidence against the Mccanns’. It’s obvious that this tragedy gives people joy..It’s sad, but true.
October 2nd, 2007 at 9:55 pm
Oh look, Chloe Spain answered my question, in a way. But, really, Chloe (which by the way is a beautiful name), WHY would you find that so odd, that we first were told they REFUSED to answer 40 questions and now we find out differently? Anyone with a lick of sense knows that approximately 90 percent of the information we’ve been fed about this case, from all parties, is FALSE. So why were you believing the initial reports, when they did not come from a reliable source in any official capacity??

Isn’t it funny how the pro-McCanns also think that other lady didn’t kill her daughter either. In other words they disregard evidence and go on whatever they feel like inside.
October 2nd, 2007 at 9:53 pm
Hi, I’m back. Glad to see you missed me, Mikey!! (You might be gone now, too, sniff sniff).
I would like to ask Jolie where she gets her information that the McCanns replied “No Comment” to any question posed by the PJ. I assume that information came from (likely false) leaks to the Portugese press? So why would you choose to believe that is true? I have never seen any official confirmation from either PJ or the McCanns that this is true.

Who said they did. I think it was probably her lawyer who arranged for the photos.
October 2nd, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Stevo - you haven’t been far south enough yet. They have the white hoodies there.
October 2nd, 2007 at 9:52 pm
According to Paulo Reis’ blog, Pinto de Abreu (the McCann’s Portuguese lawyer) said in a radio interview that, in the interrogatories, KM had left some questions unanswered because she considered them “provocative”, while GM had answered all of them. (The Portuguese news article that he links to adds “even though they were provocative” when explaining that GM had answered all the questions.)
Now this doesn’t coincide with what we have all understood up to now. I haven’t really got an opinion on it. Just find it odd.

Brandonflours - very interesting article. Yes, moms kill!
The following are US stats so I will admit it may vary from country to country.
US Department of Justice:
(Note: Parents includes stepparents.)
Of all children under age 5 murdered from 1976-2005 –
* 31% were killed by fathers
* 29% were killed by mothers
* 23% were killed by male acquaintances
* 7% were killed by other relatives
* 3% were killed by strangers
Of those children killed by someone other than their parent, 81% were killed by males.

855. Real Stig, i don’t understand what this has got to do with the questions surrounding the McCanns…unless you are implying he personally was involved in her abduction/disappearance…it was a totally different case…and he is just one amongst many.I would have said this was another smokescreen/red herring or whatever you care to label it to detract from questions closer to home.

858 - anonymous
Oh I didn’t think of that. Yes, of course…if you go out and leave your kids alone they’ll sympathise and you’ve got no worries on them being on your side for that.

If the police were guilty of battering Leonor Cipriano, why in the world would they then be willing to photograph the evidence of her beating?
Just playing devil’s advocate.
Remember, this is the woman who didn’t report her 8 year-old daughter missing for TWO DAYS. Whose brother has testified to what happened to the little girl (any photos of him beaten up?), and if the evidence presented at trial is correct, cut up her daughter’s body and stored it in a trunk to dispose of. Don’t you think a woman like that would be able to make up a story, if it meant she had a chance for appeal/release from serving a full 24 years in prison for murdering her own daughter? I would suggest that perhaps she even had another inmate beat her up to set up the story (just possibly), just as some criminals will injure themselves during a crime they commit to appear they are victims themselves.
I would be very skeptical of Ms. Cipriano’s claims.
October 2nd, 2007 at 9:48 pm
856. I believe percentage wise the PJ would be considered excellent especially considering how very few missing children’s cases they deal with. However, if this cases manages to do nothing more than create a EU wide comp system on paedos and missing children then maybe that will be good enough for me. (Praying of course that the McCanns and all their cronies have nothing whatsoever to do with such a system so they can continue to profit off of Madeleine and other missing kids!)

815 “How could anyone not have love for Prince William? He’s such a cutey. Prince Harry will be the one who needs to get VooDooed-washed & exorcised to get some serious love”
I disagree - I think Prince Harry is cuter. He’s a little scalliwag - and that makes him a cutie pie.
Hey, what ever happened to Prince Andrew? Did he join ranks with his kid bro’ and turn gay or just Asexual? He never seems to come out of the closet anymore….errr…I mean, you never see him in public. He’s not the fun loving guy creating havoc with any more wild chicks - I thought he was going to be the modern day British version of Teddy Kennedy - skirt chaser, boozer, fun loving asshole - man, are they all such fuddy duddys over there. No wonder the Beckhams want an L.A. lifestyle. They fit in perfectly with the phonies out there.
Back to Andrew, it’s kind of sad what happens to some people when they have kids. They settle down and get boring! Hmmmmm….well, maybe not all of them. Take a looky at those McCanns. Ain’t nothing boring about them folk.
I miss Prince Andrew. I wonder if I should see what he’s up to? Maybe we could have an affair to put him back in the headlines. He’s likes the Americans.
american woman stay away from me
american woman mama let me be
don’t come hanging around my door
i don’t want to see your face no more
i got more important things to do
than spend my time growin’ old with you
now woman stay away
american woman listen what i say

Well firstly, you’ve got the mother behind bars for killing her daughter. Was there no trial for that?
Secondly, take your pick from the links in this page:

The man that was the second-in-command of the investigation lead by Gonçalo Amaral, Criminal Coordinator Luis Neves, will replace him. The national director of PJ has considered the possibility of sending somebody from Lisbon, but he was warned of a “strong reaction” from the dozens of detectives involved in the investigation.
The dismissal of Gonçalo Amaral followed a day of contacts, between London and Lisbon, and the intervention of the Minister of Justice, Alberto Costa, was decisive. Speaking after a public ceremony, Mr. Alberto Costa said that relations between Portuguese and British police are “excellent”.
Criminal Coordinator Gonçalo Amaral criticised the British Police, today, because of an email that was sent to Prince Charles web site, accusing a former maid of Ocean Club of being responsible for the kidnapping of Madeleine, as a revenge for being fired.
The email was sent from Spain and Portuguese Police was informed almost at the same time that British newspapers. British Police wasn’t able to find the address from where the email has came.
All employees and former employees of the Mark Warner resort were questioned and checked, in the days following Madeleine’s disappearance, as PJ made public in May.

830. Stevo,
I was praying that those 3 would be on my possible jury because my husband and I are thinking about going each and every night for the next week (we have a huge garden with a pool and our own servants) out but can’t be bothered with the kids and with all our other expenditures we can’t see the point in hiring a nanny or even a part time sitter. BUT we live in a rural area and I feel so safe here. If we give them some O’Brien inspired sleeptime cocktails about 30 minutes before we head out - wouldn’t that be okay?

I live in the USA but the hoody here or in the UK is the same thing only in the UK, there’s a large degree of teenage delinquency and crime where the perpetrators usually wear those hoodies. They do that because in the UK, it is said to be the world’s largest CCTV culture and so if you wear a hoody, you won’t be recognised on the video as all teenagers dressed like that with the hood up look the same.
Eyewitnesses said that Rhys (can’t remember his surname) was killed by a bullet from a “hoody” riding a bicycle nearby.
It is the scourge of the UK. Unlike the USA, there is no curfew on under 16s so lots of them hang about on street corners and in neighborhoods where they don’t belong.

842 Anonymous - do you know the stats on solved cases? I remember reading early on the Portugal had a rather high success rate of finding missing children - alive, even. I’m going to look for that article.

You are right, I am sure he did all you say, but you left out the bit where he later had four underlings persuade a dirt poor, illiterate mother with almost no schooling to confess to murdering her daughter and then claimed that the two enormous black eyes and beaten face were as a result of her attempting suicide, or was it falling down stairs.
Anyone NOT seen the pretty picture of what happens to ladies who have private conversations with this charmer?

The only thing Im struggling with and maybe someone could explain is this.
It is presumed that the Mccanns were involved with a few others in their company.
Lets say they moved the body and the police arrived and presumed it was an abduction, they took statements etc.
Wouldnt it have been more clever to prearrange everything first.
Why not just get rid of the body, play cool for a while and then scream help.
A simple one could be we were on the beach all together and next thing shes gone.
Anyone get where Im going?
Thanks for any answers.

Oh, but he has. An excerpt from Anonymous’s post 819:
QUOTE
“Questioned yesterday, September 14, about his business relationship, as a expert also in media handling and advice for high profile cases, Mr. Mark Williams-Thomas initially confirmed that his company had a contract to provide services to the McCann. Asked to confirm some details of that business relationship, he changed his initial answer and denied any relationship, admitting only that he has “been in contact with the press officers for the family.”
We asked also to Sky News if they were aware of the fact that Mr Mark Williams-Thomas was also the owner and managing director of a PR company, as Sky News has invited almost every day, to comment about Madeleine McCan’s case, introducing him only as a “child protection expert” or a “crime expert”. We are waiting for Sky News answer to those questions.

827. I think the government is the true “hoooooooood” culture. Or they are at the very least the head of the hoooooood or have the nicest biggest hooooooood. They are educating us on how to commit crime and get away with it - it’s certainly an interesting education.
