Madeleine McCann: Amaral Policing, Secrets Out And EastEnders
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE: PORTUGUESE POLICE CHIEF IS SACKED AFTER AMAZING OUTBURST.”
Page 9: “Madeleine detective kicked off case after blasting British police” – Chief inspector Goncalo Amaral says: “The British police have only been working on what the McCann couple want them to and what suits them.”
Says Amaral: “The Ocean Club is in Praia da Luz, not in London…It won’t be an email, and an anonymous one at that, which will distract our line of investigation.”
Mr Amaral is making reference to the email sent to the official website of the Prince of Wales last week claming a vengeful nanny had abducted Madeleine.
Pages 30 and 31: “HAIR-RAISING TRUTH ABOUT THE PSYCHIC BARBER – During the day Gordon Smith cuts hair, at night he claims he communes with the spirits. So does he really think he can help the McCanns find Madeleine?”
THE WORLD’S GREATEST NEWSPAPER confirms that former EastEnders actress Michelle Collins is a “BELIEVER”.
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Off the case. Madeleine police chief demoted after amazing rant against McCanns and British detectives”
Say Amaral: “They [the English] have been investigating tip-offs and information created and worked upon by the McCanns”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE: CHIEF COP SACKED.”
Page 10: “INSPECTOR CLUELESS GETS THE BOOT”
Page 11: “If Maddie IS dead she will tell me where he body is” – Says Gordon Smith
DAILY MIRROR front page: “Maddy copper is axed”
Page 7: “OFF THE CASE – Boozy cop is demoted after furious outburst against the McCanns”
THE SUN page 7: “MADDIE COP FIRED FOR McCANNS RANT – storm as bungler says family duped Brit police”
Comments Clarence Mitchell: “I can confirm that Kate and Gerry are aware of this development but we cannot comment”
THE GUARDIAN page 7: “Detective leading hunt for Madeleine sacked after blast at UK police” – Mr Amaral is 47. He has been demoted. He is 48 in the Sun. Such are the facts
Carols Pinto de Abreu, the McCanns’ Portuguese lawyer, says: “The McCanns cannot confess to something they did not do and cannot and should not lie to please the police”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Detective leading Madeleine hunt dropped from case after outburst” – Amaral is being investigated over an alleged attack on the mother of a different missing girl. Read about that here
THE TIMES front page: “Detective in charge of McCann case sacked”
Page 9: “Madeleine detective sacked after outburst”
Alipio Ribeiro, Amaral’s boss, says: “The police should be discreet and keep quiet, but there is always someone who talks” – So much for those secrecy laws
DAILY TELEGRAPH page 15: “Madeleine inquiry chief sacked after attack on British police”
A “family friend” of the McCanns says: “What he [Mr Amaral] is saying is just plain wrong. Leicestershire Police are not doing anything on Kate and Gerry’s behalf. They are simply there for liaison. There is certainly no strategy to distract form the Portuguese investigation”
What investigation?

There might be signs everywhere saying
Have you checked the children?
If you cant hear or see them , you cant protect them
children should be seen and heard at all times even when sedated or asleep

Do you ever listening to anyone else?
Several questions have been put to you. You haven’t answered any of them. All you do is cut and paste old shit.

Thank you for that perspective. I hope there is an official enquiry into the Cipriano case so we can have information that does not come from just a newspaper. I hope Amaral is cleared of any slur against him if he is indeed innocent. He and his fellow officers should be considered innocent until proven guilty, just like the McCanns. I would actually much prefer that he was innocent of the allegations than otherwise.
But having said that, police officers that are under any suspicion of this nature should not be working on similar cases until official investigations have cleared them. This should be the case in any country.

Hi Maura, you seem to know a lot of info re McCann’s. Can you clarify why they would be ferrying rotting meat in the car, presumably rotting raw meat otherwise the McCann’s wouldn’t announce it as a likely explanation for the dogs scenting death. I’m assuming here that the dogs would not confuse rotting cooked meat for rotting flesh.
(Sorry if you’ve already covered this in an earlier thread)
Would appreciate it if you could help clear this up for me. Ta

Test question, would any one here like the McCanns to have been their parents, hypothetical but maybe pertinent.

I must agree - Leaving children unattended is neglect nad NONE of this (whatever it was) would have ahappened if those precious darlings were not alone. Bottom line. no one can argue that!!

————————————————————-
Err just because the crime is heinous, it does not mean that it was the suspects wot done it: presumed innocent what what, or is that just another of old Harry Hind Sight’s quaint old fashioned way of thinking.
I am really enjoying the insight this forum gives me into the thinking of the common person

Will do you actually listen to yourself?
The woman basically dimissed the loss of a child as ‘pop’!
This is unacceptable.
The organisation itself is respectable but this type of commentrary is not.

BTW where are your questions? If you post me the refs, I will address them.

187. 144.
If you measure success in money spent, false sightings and the families of small blond girls being scrutinized and interviewed by the police because they “definitely are” Madeleine then yes the McCanns are very successful.
If you measure success in results then spending lots of money and having lots of sightings etc but still not finding Madeleine is not one.
I think Save The Children have lots of success in the area they operate which is more than the McCanns can say.

199 - good call brandonflours - a long time ago didn’t the portuguese press speculate about the children having different fathers?????
October 3rd, 2007 at 11:57 am
Andy, there can be much illustrative power in a case study of a missing child that eventually through policy changes can help others. It is possible that the focus on Madeleine might lead to improvements. My own hobby horse is this habit of selfish parents leaving kids alone when they shouldn’t. this case shows par excellence what could happen. It might bring about a set of definitions and legal constraints that may help children in the future!

Observation. How come anti-McCannics can admit ‘don’t know’ but pro-McCannics have a neat answer for everything - or if they don’t they just ignore the question!

Judith C - body language - trembling like a leaf -???
Body in boot?
You are one sick dude.
The womans beautiful much loved baby is missing. She doesnt know the who what or where she is. She is in front of the world media/pope etc. …
pf course her body is trembling.
Do you suppose you could do a better PR job in the situation!
This has nothing to do with Madeleine. It is just sheer bad mindedness and nothing else.

How many other people looked at the FREEKateMcCann website and actually read it as FREEK ate McCann? (How I wish this were true).
I thought she WAS free - unless we aren’t aware that she’s already behind bars! (Wonder if it’s ‘The Nagg’s Head’ or one of our locals, ‘The Brass Monkey’ or ‘Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem’.)

187 The Real Stig
Speachless. I can’t believe you are allowing yourself to be dragged down to the level of Maura. You have shown yourself to be better than that. Save the Children have transformed the lives of thousands, maybe millions of lives of children worldwide with donations and exposure far exceeding team McCann. To say her comments were fuelled by jealousy is not only a slur on that organisations work but is also very ill thought out - very unlike you.

The Real stig - It could be professional jealousy - good point.
But either way I dont think that this is what one would expect from someone in that position. I suggest that she should either retract of resign.

not sure what OB is? assuming that she had some kind of development disorder or ‘no perfect’ in some other way - is that why we’ve not seen any videos of her? I agree that it would fit with Gerry - everything we’ve heard obout him/them is of the perfect student / doctor/ parent/ partner etc living the perfect life in their perfect home with their perfect family…..

The more I read the more confused I get. Of course everyone would do it different if we would have lost a child. But if you look at the ‘normal’ patterns in cases like Jessica and Holly etc, the parents stay with their other kids close together and share each others grief and support each other as much as they can. I did not see the Chapmans setting off in a private jet to Jersey and Guernsey or whatever?
I never could get my head around these trips of G & K to various European countries, especially the Pope and in the mean time leaving the twins on their own. I would not leave my other two at all! In the end the kids feel instinctively that there is something wrong. Mummie and Daddie don’t seem to be happy as normal. Kids pick up on this. They must miss their sister. I assume they need their parents as close as possible to give them the feeling of security and trust, nothing will happen to them. Toddlers can’t communicate very well, but it does not mean they are not aware that something is not right here…
Like many others I have been thinking how I would go about it to deal with the disappearance of my daughter if that would have happened. To be honest I would have hired the ‘Renault MCCANN’ straight away to look for my daughter. I would visit farms, look at freshly disturbed soil. See if I could find her pyjamas, or other clues if she were a live or dead. I would not sit at my laptop in my apartment reading and writing bloggs or order wristband. I would comb out the entire area. Maybe even would ask people with dogs to assist me.
Why would I leave the resort where my daughter has gone missing? What about when I am kissing the feet of the Pope and she has been found in Praia? I would have been the first one wanting to be there to take her in my arms. Besides that more important, my daughter only would wish to be reunited with her parents a.s.a.p and not waiting for a take off clearance in any foreign country for the private jet to set off.
Does the Find Madeline Site ever publish emails from people that leave important information for the search of M? I am sure a lot of people have send information in. This only could help possible witnesses to remember or jock their memory concerning things that might be important. Isn’t that what Crime Watch UK does as well??
Well, whatever. It is not my place to suspect G & K of killing their daughter. I hope for them and especially for the sake of the twins that this is not true they are involved. We only can speculate and make assumptions. Hopefully for M the truth will come out soon.

“Several things bother me about the McCanns:-
4. When Kate McCann met the pope, watch her body language, it was riddled with discomfort and she could not look at him directly.”
I remember reading that when she met the Pope she was “trembling like a leaf”. Hardly surprising because, by some accounts, the body of Madeleine was in the boot of their car left behind at Faro Airport.

man on the hill - not necessarily - just give me the posting number. Its just that as there isnt enough time to read all the posts on here and that I have become accustomed to many various personalites that I immediately elimiate those who from past experience of their postings are not worth the effort.
But do please give me the posting numbers and I will make an exception for you.

It is professional jealousy talking. The McCanns have created greater attention regarding their case than she has managed for those she is supposed to be helping.
It makes her look bad that two non-professionals can do such a good job. Her remarks are incredible.
