Excerpt from Calgary Herald Nov 2/06 on the murder trial of Michael White.
“Two days after Michael White reported his pregnant wife missing after she left home for work, police secretly followed him to a field where he picked up two garbage bags containing bloody clothes and latex gloves a jury heard Thursday. White took the bags home and put them outside his Castledowns house for garbage pickup. The next day a police officer riding in a garbage truck seized the bags. White later told police he was being a “Good Samaritan” by picking up abandoned trash.”

There could be some truth in this npd job, but there again I used to be freinds with a couple who were brilliant people freindly caring generous both had fantastic jobs, until they had children all the arguments were about who looks after the kids it seemed neither wanted that responsibility, both of them had their “freetime” spoken for ie gym,shopping,tennis or squash,swimming etc,both myself and my wife used to wonder how they could fit everything in,she used to think her life and carreer was more important and he used to think his life and carreer was more important,she used to complain all the time that he wouldnt do his bit with the kids it was always left to her even though 90% of the time her mother looked after the children, we could never understand that, I personally think that when two people are high aimers with carreers, something has got to give. Now maybe this is the case with the mccanns if Gerry took the piss and leaves her with the kids all the time then there are going to be arguments and resentment,if kate mc was a socialite and liked her nights out etc,and wasnt able to, then she is going to loose it a bit, frustration at not being able to do what she likes etc,now im not having a go at her im just stating facts, as i have seen all this before with other couples, so maybe this caused arguments among them both, When you read the story of events kate mc was with the kids all day by herself, while gerry played tennis etc,as a family holiday it is supposed to be time spent together kids an all, so I beleive this could have sparked bad terms between them both and somewhere madeleine has been cought in the middle,if it is true that she died in the apartment then my theory seems likely, I dont for one minute believe that either of them hurt her on purpose(if that is what happened)I think it was just unfortunate circumstances everything blown out of preportion “heat of the moment” and the poor child cought in the middle. after all someone said they herd madeleine shout “daddy daddy” and also other raised voices,Then in panick they have disposed of maddie as not to jeapordise their lives carreers etc,before all this happened no one had even herd of the mccanns they were probably just a good decent family, a silly argument broke out while on holiday and unfortunately maddie was cought in the middle, as most kids are when parents argue…..just a thought.

I read that the McCanns said the car was ‘ripped apart’ - seats taken up etc. - I assume they meant so that they could cram into the Scenic all their belongings. I was sceptical about the ‘ripping apart’ of the car at the time

But of course the McKillers can explain everything!
First the covered the boot floor with nappies that were dripping of soil.
Then they topped that off with enormous amounts of rotting meat.
Then they put in all their luggage thus creating the huge pressure needed to release fluids from that mess.
Miraculously that fluid flowed into the tyre well and with such brute force that a surpising amount of Madeleine’s hair was caught up in it’s flow and landed there also.

I’ve been wanting to ask this question for quite a while, when I saw that the McCann family were driving around in a Renault Grand Scenic. I own one of these vehicles, and it is the same 7 seat model that the McCann’s hired. It appears that the Police found the hairs/DNA in the well of the spare wheel, which they said was located in the boot floor, underneath the seating. There is a “big problem” with this information because (a) the extra row of seats 6 & 7 fold into the boot floor - leaving no space for a spare tyre: and (b) the spare wheel is located outside of the vehicle underneath the chassis, and only accessible from the underneath at the rear.
Has this just been a “lost in translation” problem from the Portugese press, or was the DNA found in an unusual position underneath the vehicle? Perhaps a spokesperson from Renault should step in and clarify this extemely important point. Anybody else thought about this?

Vera I lived in southern spain for a couple of years. You do have to get rid of the kitchen waste fast because it’s so hot there. Fear of cockroaches and the like, though disposing of it is nothing to write home about. Everyone does it.

I don’t think having no register and the Police not knowing about home grown convicted offenders are the same thing. The problem arises when a Paedophile from another country emigrates there. The same problem exists in Britain as there is no legal need for sex-offenders from certain countries to inform the British authorities of their convictions.

Will - portugal has no sex offenders register - the UK is the only EU country with one. Which is not of much use if you don’t share the information about british paedophiles when they go abroad.
Can someone explain a bit more what were the findings of Dan Krugel?
A few weeks ago, someone in this forum posted that one of the reasons why the police (brit and portuguese) got more suspicious of the McCanns relates to the following:
- the Mccanns were the first to suggest bringing in Krugel to look for the body of madeleine fearing that madeleine could be dead and they needed to find the body.
- the police (i think the british liaison officers) asked the Mccanns if they realised that the suggestion that madeleine could be dead would naturally open a new line in the investigation until then focused on a missing child.
- but, when in August Olegario de Sousa mentioned for the first time that there was a possibility that Madeleine could be dead, the McCanns came out to the press saying that they did not believe for a moment that Madeleine could be dead and that they never even thought that. (yet they were the ones suggesting the services of Krugel).
Can someone clarify this?
