Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Becomes Mum
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – I CRY EVERY DAY SAYS KATE”
“For the first time she reveals her torment” – Kate gives the papers what they want: tears
Pages 6 and 7: “Madleine’s mum: I can’t stop crying” – Kate McCann is no longer Kate McCann; she is above all things Madeleine’s mum
“Obviously nothing can compare with the night Madeleine went missing,” says mum. And Gerry – dad’s – worst moment? “I think when we were made suspects in our own daughter’s disappearance – when the inference was that Madeleine was dead and that, somehow, we were involved…”
Yes…
“But, no it can’t get any worse than that first night…”
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Some days I just can’t stop the tears, says Maddie’s mother”
“Second police chief quits the case” – Tavares Almeida has followed his boss Goncarlo Amaral and left the business of Madeleine McCann to another lucky Portuguese cop
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE McCANN SPEAKS AS NEVER BEFORE..Every day felt like a week”
Page 5: “Being named suspects, the idea that we were involved, was terrible. But NOTHING can compare to the trauma of the first night our Madeleine went missing”
Kate is a “locum GP”. Gerry is a “heart specialist”. These are the facts. And they remain unaltered
The couple give an interview as they visit the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper, where they are presented with a cheque for £57,000 from the sales of the Madeleine wristbands
THE SUN front page: “KATE’S MADDIE ORDEAL – NOTHING’S AS BAD AS THAT NIGHT. Mum tells of torment”
Page 6: “I weep for Maddie…but we still have hope”
Says Kate McCann: “I’ve had days when if I wasn’t crying for Madeleine, I was crying from the messages people have sent us”
The McCanns “say their lowest point…was when Portuguese police declared them ‘arguidos’ – formal suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”. So not the night Madeleine disappeared, as the Express says?
Gerry is a “cardiologist”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Kate: I cry for my daughter every day”
Page 8 and 9: “Finding Maddie had gone was far worse than being named suspect in killing”
THE TIMES page 14: “The twins are the only part of our lives that are normal”
Kate McCann says: “There is a semblance of normality returning. It’s more normal than it was three weeks ago, Amelie and Sean can see that. But really how can it be normal without Madeleine?”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Second officer steps own from Madeleine inquiry” – Tavares Almeida. Bad Times, as Tavares were wont to say
THE GUARDIAN page 15: “Sacked Madeleine detective’s deputy seeks leave” – Senor Tavares. (Heaven Must be Missing An Angel)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “KATE McCANN: THE DAILY TORMENT OF LIFE WITHOUT MADELEINE”
Page 3: “The McCanns have kept Madeleine’s room the same as it was. The twins are allowed in for a few minutes - “Otherwise, the door remains closed most of the time”
Detectives make notes.

180. Slyfox.
Thanks for that link. (Still can’t make out the model unfortunately, I am leaning towards a Grand Scenic though as in the pictures I posted earlier there seems to be a slight difference in the distance from the rear door’s rear edge to the rear light clusters, possibly for the extra 2 seats.)
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WxOjk0otXME
I clicked on this video and have never heard such an inane commentary.
The commentator seems to think that because Mr McCann gets in the driving seat that this makes him a good father!
Is this really what people want from “reporters”? I really do weep sometimes. (And no I’m not publishing pictures!)

Re: Early Show - and it’s two part - finish it up on Monday.
I was under the impression that it was an actual interview with K&M but it may just be a ‘report’.

ok moderation my favourite un hysterical boss of the pro mc canns
where is there any evidence to suggest the mc canns didnt do it?
and what is it?
October 5th, 2007 at 2:26 pm
me 176 says….. Just interested why the pro McCanns come on this site at all?
Because, contrary to your perception this isn’t an anti-McCann site!! Sorry to disillusion you.
Sadly its the vicious anti-mcCanns who are not open to debate unlike the not-anti-McCanns.
Why on earth can’t everyone have their say?

From my experience of it, the person who has NPD has a passive, doormat type wife who absorbs all the crap and won’t say boo to anyone. Plus she earns a good pension which means she finances him. Oh and he mis-spent about $125,000 of her lump sum on retirement. I need to read more about 2 NPDs together…never knew of that case.
Catch you later…

Hi everyone, the vodka has worn off, will rectify that later and apart from fending the off the boss trying to put his hand up my skirt,a good and productive morning.I see good buddy Richy has been feeding you links, anyone wonder why.

Good point. Is the spare under the boot on the underside of the car on a Scenic?
Yesterday I made the point about the way the doors open in the apartment - when you look at the two published room layouts, the doors look like they are hinged on the wrong edge.
It’s interesting to do proper detective work from the pictures and info at our disposal.
Anyway…must dash and be back later…keep up the good work.
October 5th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
stevo there’s such a thing as co - npd
the more I read about it the more they seem to be a text book case
they even attract npd people to defend them
I’m still waiting for one piece of evidence that the mc canns didnt do it from all the pro mc canns
October 5th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
To all the anti-PJ out there…this is what I like to hear:
“Carlos Anjos, president of the Judicial Police Inspectors Union, said Portuguese detectives have an ‘excellent’ working relationship with British police without ‘a single misunderstanding’.”

The Early Show segment? What was that?
October 5th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
Tried to stay away…
Andy and JS, here is some footage of the front of the hire car.
http://uk.youtube.com/results?search_query=McCann%27s+leave+portugal&search=Search
The number plate is 59 DA 27
There is better footage out there re following the rear of the McCann car when they left Portugal to the airport. Don’t have the time to search now.

Does anyone know if the latest “crying” stories have evidence of it or are they just words? Are there pictures/videos of it?
October 5th, 2007 at 2:17 pm
(168) Stevo - they are reading Anorak. And as Veritas mentioned the pressure is far worse on them now as their own necks are on the chopping block making it much easier for KM to get emotional.
I’m being evil this morning - apparently I missed the Early Show segment.

Just interested why the pro McCanns come on this site at all?
If you believe in an abduction by a stranger then what is there to say?
I wouldnt bother coming here if I believed that as I would have nothing to contribute.
Those who are anti have a multitude of things to discuss and it is fascinating to us.
The pro people will dismiss and ridicule theories so if you dont believe in any suspicion what, on earth, is your fascination for being here?
They’re obviously innocent to you so why not do something else? The anti brigade are quite (on the whole) capable of pulling apart our own theories if justified and yet we cant critique your theories because er, you dont have any that can be discussed…………….
So whats to discuss?

I’m openly anti McCann because of the child neglect. If they lost Madeleine through abduction then I don’t feel sorry for them - I feel sorry for poor Madeleine. If the McCanns had something more to do with her disappearance then I hope the bastards rot in jail.
But, your point about jewellry I agree with. Women wear it and so there’s nothing to connect her wearing it with anything.
However, I’d be interested to know why Kate has such a vast wardrobe and certainly more clothes than any normal person would have for an extended stay. It’s extremely difficult to see her wearing the same clothes twice from all the published photos. For a lady who says she’s a private person and doesn’t like to be in front of the cameras that’s pretty weird to have so many items of clothing. On the contrary, I’d look at Kate and say she dressed up for the cameras.

“have they found the maid yet”
One of the last things Amaral said before his departure was that they were going to completely ignore that tip-off.

Some interesting facts about what will happen should the McCanns be charged;

So did I!!! Turns out to be a play on words between mum-mother and mum-silent.
October 5th, 2007 at 2:11 pm
what surprises me is the fact that the Mccanns never searched for Madeleine inside Portugal. They could have done it, even with the intention to hide their guilt.
I believe they are suffering, much more than at the beginning.
The pressure on them is becoming heavier and heavier.
I expect a break down any moment.
It will probably happen to Kate. I’m longing for the next quizz.
The police continue to work hard, to find out the truth.
I hope they will find out that at least one of the group 9 knows what happened to Maddie and that this somebody will become a suspect as well, for hiding the truth and helping hiding the body.

What’s interesting about NPD is that all those symptoms are present. To anyone that has had to live with an N, they will all vouch for those symptoms. They really are awful people. It’s scary how many of those characteristics can be applied to the McCanns from what we see or hear.

When I read the headline at the top of this page I thought it was alluding to the fact that Kate is pregnant. I thought that was the intent in a headline saying Kate Becomes Mum.
October 5th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
Isn’t it funny how it’s taken 5 months for Kate to have her story plastered over everywhere how she cries so much?
I’ll say one thing for the PR team - they know how to release new stories every day.
October 5th, 2007 at 2:07 pm
I bet very soon you will fined out that Kate is pregnant again. They may consider that -just in case….kind of protective insurance
