Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Becomes Mum
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – I CRY EVERY DAY SAYS KATE”
“For the first time she reveals her torment” – Kate gives the papers what they want: tears
Pages 6 and 7: “Madleine’s mum: I can’t stop crying” – Kate McCann is no longer Kate McCann; she is above all things Madeleine’s mum
“Obviously nothing can compare with the night Madeleine went missing,” says mum. And Gerry – dad’s – worst moment? “I think when we were made suspects in our own daughter’s disappearance – when the inference was that Madeleine was dead and that, somehow, we were involved…”
Yes…
“But, no it can’t get any worse than that first night…”
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Some days I just can’t stop the tears, says Maddie’s mother”
“Second police chief quits the case” – Tavares Almeida has followed his boss Goncarlo Amaral and left the business of Madeleine McCann to another lucky Portuguese cop
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE McCANN SPEAKS AS NEVER BEFORE..Every day felt like a week”
Page 5: “Being named suspects, the idea that we were involved, was terrible. But NOTHING can compare to the trauma of the first night our Madeleine went missing”
Kate is a “locum GP”. Gerry is a “heart specialist”. These are the facts. And they remain unaltered
The couple give an interview as they visit the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper, where they are presented with a cheque for £57,000 from the sales of the Madeleine wristbands
THE SUN front page: “KATE’S MADDIE ORDEAL – NOTHING’S AS BAD AS THAT NIGHT. Mum tells of torment”
Page 6: “I weep for Maddie…but we still have hope”
Says Kate McCann: “I’ve had days when if I wasn’t crying for Madeleine, I was crying from the messages people have sent us”
The McCanns “say their lowest point…was when Portuguese police declared them ‘arguidos’ – formal suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”. So not the night Madeleine disappeared, as the Express says?
Gerry is a “cardiologist”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Kate: I cry for my daughter every day”
Page 8 and 9: “Finding Maddie had gone was far worse than being named suspect in killing”
THE TIMES page 14: “The twins are the only part of our lives that are normal”
Kate McCann says: “There is a semblance of normality returning. It’s more normal than it was three weeks ago, Amelie and Sean can see that. But really how can it be normal without Madeleine?”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Second officer steps own from Madeleine inquiry” – Tavares Almeida. Bad Times, as Tavares were wont to say
THE GUARDIAN page 15: “Sacked Madeleine detective’s deputy seeks leave” – Senor Tavares. (Heaven Must be Missing An Angel)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “KATE McCANN: THE DAILY TORMENT OF LIFE WITHOUT MADELEINE”
Page 3: “The McCanns have kept Madeleine’s room the same as it was. The twins are allowed in for a few minutes - “Otherwise, the door remains closed most of the time”
Detectives make notes.

Now that is the most sensbible thing anyone has said to “them.” I have pondered this very thing myself over past weeks.
Why don’t they contribute their unwavering, unquestioning support in the comment sections of Mail,.Express, Sun..Times etc ad nauseum. They have like minded fellows there to share with.
Not as if they offer any intelligent ideas on Anorak to support their devotion to innocence after all. They simply come to abuse everyone here prerably in captial letters, because they have nothing else to contribute.

I haven’t had experience of South African life under apartheid but, on my visits there, I have heard tales of the way people used to disappear without trace after arrest, particularly those of the wrong colour.
I did hear that there is still a large amount of corruption and such amongst the police (i.e bribes being accepted for motoring offences) but that it is getting better.
I must admit that, while I never encountered anything other than polite police officers, my heart did jump whenever I encountered a “road block” on my way to Durban.
As for Danie Krugel, I cannot comment on his work in the SA police but, I must admit his theories on Hair and GPS location appear deluded. If the McCanns did call him in I cannot imagine why.

Dont panic, you`ve not got NPD. A real NPD would never admit to it. If your really bothered there is an online test that you can take free of charge.
October 5th, 2007 at 3:20 pm
Bit worried now - think I may have NPD.
Moderation is there an NPD naughty step?

Andy - missed that report - playing catch up. Hopefully a ‘car geek’ will be able to figure it our shortly.

Think we have established that we are dealing with a NPD, but are they both NPDs? If this is proven will they get off on the grounds of diminished responsibility?
October 5th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
166 Brandonflours. Looks like the NPD is a man, lol. Any similar list on how you front them up!

204. Jason and Brandonflours.
It’s perfectly possible that one or other of the McCanns may have NPD but in the list of people (Jason?) posted, I think, all of them either contacted the McCanns or were contacted by McCann spokespeople.
I think the real question is still why so many famous and high powered people have gathered behind the McCanns. (Perhaps they all have NPD too.)

One of the grossest comments I have ever read on this site and really uncalled for.

I an admittedly prejudiced against Afrikaans god fearing Police having had my political run ins with them during apartheid when I lived there..but this dude sounds like a bizarre crank to me.

And the other thing: smell of death on mother’s clothes does not have to mean that it was mother who killed the child. It could mean instead that the mother could not help cuddling her girl for the last time and saying good-bye to her and sorry?

BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL study “Causes of fatal childhood accidents involving head injury in northern region, 1979-86″.
“Head injury is the most common cause of death in children aged 1-15 years…” (Intro)
“INJURIES FROM FALLS
Falls were the second most important cause of fatal accidents involving a head injury, accounting for the deaths of 34 children. Two children fell from a horse; neither child was wearing a hard hat. The remaining 32 children fell while playing; only three were being supervised by an adult at the time of the accident. Three accidents occurred at school and two in a fairground. The remaining 24 accidents occurred while the children were playing near their home. Nine children fell from cliffs, seven from roofs, two from swings, two from walls, two from windows, one from a balcony, and one from a ladder. One child was intoxicated as a result of inhaling glue, but otherwise there were no predisposing factors.”
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/pagerender.fcgi?artid=1664341&pageindex=1#page
Additional data shows that the chance of accident occurring while on holiday is much higher.

It would be very easy for a “DNA soup” to accumulate in a well such as that but now doubt has been cast on the fact (as reported by several newspapers) that the car the McCanns used even had a spare wheel well.
If it didn’t then, presumably, there would be less chance of a “DNA soup” accumulating and I would also think it would be easier to clean large amounts of evidence up, was one so inclined to do so.
I am not questioning that DNA evidence was found, I am just amazed that simple, easily verifiable facts are not being checked by reporters.

204 - George Bush? how so?
October 5th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
Dear Moderation,
There IS evidence that they did it. (And this evidence was discovered by the British). They are not yet charged because: 1)they are not dangerous to the society and do not have to be jailed immediately
2)their kids are not in danger since at the moment it will be very difficult to orchestrate any more abduction
3)not charging them now will give them a chance to produce more lies and shoot themselves in the boot. It is already happening: abductor hides under the stairs, the other one- in the apartment, at the same time the old maid tries her chance, at the same time a boatman prepares to kick something on his boat….
Lies indicate the possibility of premeditated murder. They are not charged yet because there is not yet enough evidence for murder, and police are looking forward to some more revealing lies.
This is all only my personal belief, and, honestly, I think they did not do it deliberately, more than that, I think Kate was not going to cover up at all. It might have been husband’s idea, and I doubt she was given any choice. People can reason that “If you tell truth, your children will be taken away from today. If we cover up, you at least will be with them for some time”.

Often the narcissist will fraudulently claim to have qualifications or experience or affiliations or associations which they don’t have or aren’t entitled to. Belief in superiority, inflating their self-esteem to match that of senior or important people with whom they associate or identify, insisting on having the “top” professionals or being affiliated with the “best” institutions, but criticising the same people who disappoint them are also common features of narcissistic personality disorder
Its seems a bit odd that they should be associating with people like
Richard Branson
The Pope
George Bush
Gordon Brown
Prince Charles
All the top people, just like the diagnosis says.

198 Yes in some ways, but its mostly lousy parenting that produces lousy parenting and so on.
Its always hard one to call and most is based on learned instict… when the little girl was abducted from the bath I straight away thought parents because the story was so outrageous. Wrong!
But this one? I still haven’t shifted……. Would have been far easier to call without all the leaks and counter-leaks!
October 5th, 2007 at 3:01 pm
A bit more about children/parents with npd
N train people to cater to their wishes and whims, like spoiled children. If you want to remain sane you have to be an adult with them - a child of a narcissist has a difficult time with this, because they have been trained not to act like an adult with their narcissist parent.
The way N parents operate is that they assign their children roles, a bit like birth order, and they have to fulfill whatever that position entails. No matter how hard you try, you cannot compete with the golden child, the chosen one, who represents the narcissists mother or father’s image. As a child, you fill as if you disappoint the narcissist if you do something other than what they want - that holds true for your role in the family. One woman I knew used to say that only her and her son had extraordinary feelings and were sensitive. Just the opposite was true, they were the most self centered and heartless members of that family. A young child has few defenses against such monsters. Adult children of narcissists end up at the shrinks, wondering what happened. A few figure it out, others just keep suffering and falling into the same trap over and over.
The sequels of being raised by a narcissistic parent are many and varied. If you happen to be the golden boy or girl, the chosen one, then you think your mother or father is great, because they think you are great, the spitting image of them. They gloss over your failings, the divorces, the bad business deals (the other people’s fault), and they are your fan club, deflecting criticism from you, bolstering your ego, always complimenting you and your wife and children. They think you are a god, or goddess. You probably know that you have feet of clay, and are imperfect, yet you want your wife or husband to treat you as the apple of your family’s eye. It might dawn on you that you have problems, but blame it on someone else, never yourself. You might even think that you suffer from some mental disorder, but dismiss the idea as ridiculous, other people are crazy - not you.
On the other hand you might be the unlucky one, the one in the family who always gets the short end of the stick. No matter what you do, your parents, or one of them, never likes it. They are cold, distant, but when company drops by, they will put you on display and you have to perform, you have to make nice. God forbid you say the wrong thing. You will pay for it.
You may have a sibling who gets all the attention - no matter what they do - and no matter how hard you try, you will not admired like them. Instead you will be criticized, because is for you own good (sot the favorite one will not get jealous). You may start to turn inward, not let your inner feelings show, because they like to see you cringe, cry, and so you deny them that pleasure.
You may have trouble showing your true emotions later on in life, because you are afraid. But of what? When you were young, your emotions got you in trouble, for reasons you still don’t understand. You feel incomplete, half alive, and your ego seems to be either at full blast or gone to sleep. You are shy, or the opposite. Not knowing how real people act, you are suspicious of strangers. Only your N mother or N father understands you, they say, so you are constantly going home, trying to recreate a childhood that never existed. Maybe you dream a lot, never grounded in reality, and miss things. If you are given a surprise party, you collapse into yourself, not wanting to be the center of attention, because someone else should get all the attention, not you. Deep down you hate your mother or father, and feel ashamed for the sentiment because everyone else thinks they are great

I laughed aloud at the “driving the car himself” bit and what came next.
Incidentally, the twit (I don’t usually use insults but he really was a twit) called the car a Renault Megane, if that helps anyone to determine the model.

174. The Real Stig.
Mr Amaral did not say that the lead would not be followed up he actually said;
“The Ocean Club is in Praia da Luz, not London, which means everything said by employees, current or former, has already been investigated by the Policia Judiciaria. No e-mail, above all an anonymous one, which is easy to discover where it was sent, is going to distract our line of investigation.”
And as the email was sent to the Prince of Wales in the UK and we have heard nothing more about it I suspect it has already been ruled out by UK investigators.

It is cringe worthy no wonder we come on here for news
I am now starting to believe that osma bin laden is a mythical boogy man ( he likes his appearances too)
saddam hussien was innocent, Diana was murdered , and jack the ripper, and the yorkshire ripper were a governments way of getting rid of prostitutes.

From working in social services surely you saw far more rotten parenting than paedophile abductors
October 5th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
I am positive the Mccains already have a couples of Madelines prepared in glass tubes .
100% sure that before Christmas we will get this big news that Kate is a mother again. Is interesting how they will explain that, because for her to get pregnant- is not a natural thing ( nature refused her in that)
October 5th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
(190) Ohhh, very easy for boot soup to leak down in the cracks and very easy to miss a spot in the clean up.
October 5th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
There is no evidence to say they didn’t do it (other than lack of opportunity IMO) but there is no evidence that they did otherwise they’be be charged by now. I can see no way the Portugese would be scared of the Brits or put off by any outside interferecne.
As I’ve often said I have no interest in the McCanns themselves either way but I definitely lean towards abduction. In the very beginning I thought she might have wandered off to look for them but then they would have found the body.
Maybe I’m too cynical after years in Social Services but I still think paedophile.
Again, I hope I’m wrong, I really do because I wouldn’t wish that on any child.
