Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Becomes Mum
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – I CRY EVERY DAY SAYS KATE”
“For the first time she reveals her torment” – Kate gives the papers what they want: tears
Pages 6 and 7: “Madleine’s mum: I can’t stop crying” – Kate McCann is no longer Kate McCann; she is above all things Madeleine’s mum
“Obviously nothing can compare with the night Madeleine went missing,” says mum. And Gerry – dad’s – worst moment? “I think when we were made suspects in our own daughter’s disappearance – when the inference was that Madeleine was dead and that, somehow, we were involved…”
Yes…
“But, no it can’t get any worse than that first night…”
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Some days I just can’t stop the tears, says Maddie’s mother”
“Second police chief quits the case” – Tavares Almeida has followed his boss Goncarlo Amaral and left the business of Madeleine McCann to another lucky Portuguese cop
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE McCANN SPEAKS AS NEVER BEFORE..Every day felt like a week”
Page 5: “Being named suspects, the idea that we were involved, was terrible. But NOTHING can compare to the trauma of the first night our Madeleine went missing”
Kate is a “locum GP”. Gerry is a “heart specialist”. These are the facts. And they remain unaltered
The couple give an interview as they visit the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper, where they are presented with a cheque for £57,000 from the sales of the Madeleine wristbands
THE SUN front page: “KATE’S MADDIE ORDEAL – NOTHING’S AS BAD AS THAT NIGHT. Mum tells of torment”
Page 6: “I weep for Maddie…but we still have hope”
Says Kate McCann: “I’ve had days when if I wasn’t crying for Madeleine, I was crying from the messages people have sent us”
The McCanns “say their lowest point…was when Portuguese police declared them ‘arguidos’ – formal suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”. So not the night Madeleine disappeared, as the Express says?
Gerry is a “cardiologist”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Kate: I cry for my daughter every day”
Page 8 and 9: “Finding Maddie had gone was far worse than being named suspect in killing”
THE TIMES page 14: “The twins are the only part of our lives that are normal”
Kate McCann says: “There is a semblance of normality returning. It’s more normal than it was three weeks ago, Amelie and Sean can see that. But really how can it be normal without Madeleine?”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Second officer steps own from Madeleine inquiry” – Tavares Almeida. Bad Times, as Tavares were wont to say
THE GUARDIAN page 15: “Sacked Madeleine detective’s deputy seeks leave” – Senor Tavares. (Heaven Must be Missing An Angel)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “KATE McCANN: THE DAILY TORMENT OF LIFE WITHOUT MADELEINE”
Page 3: “The McCanns have kept Madeleine’s room the same as it was. The twins are allowed in for a few minutes - “Otherwise, the door remains closed most of the time”
Detectives make notes.

Just feel jaded by the whole case. I don’t think justice can be done now, no matter what actually happened on May 3rd.
October 5th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
Sorry, I’d not finished in 249.
If it’s like Spain, they may be forced to take the holidays before December or otherwise they’ll lose them altogether. The probably can’t take them over to next year. But we are, of course, only in September.

Nothing about it on Newsround so don’t believe you!

I read a couple of days ago - when Amaral was removed from the case that the McCann’s were planning to return to Portugal. Does anyone know anything more on that?
October 5th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
(246) Perhaps the other police officers are protesting at the removal of Amaral. Maybe it wasn’t such a good decision.

*sigh* did you speak to maura again?
October 5th, 2007 at 3:55 pm
I hate it when I don’t proofread.
Here’s what I meant to write in 246 (edited for spelling)
Have you read this article? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/05/nmaddy205.xml
It states that not only the no. 1 and no. 2 detectives are off the Madeleine case, but also half of the remaining detectives are being forced to take mandatory holidays.
Seems to me to be the result of some stronghanded political pressure.
I doubt this case will ever make it to trial–I really do.
But I am confident that the McCanns will never be able to wash the stink of suspicion off of them either, if they do not allow the legal process to continue.
Everything Team McCann does points to the McCanns guilt and their unwillingness to let the investigation proceed unhindered. Why are the British people/government allowing these people to trample all over the legal process?

My experimenting leads me to believe anything is possible and I am a very sad individual with too much time on my hands
October 5th, 2007 at 3:48 pm
hi all.
will, my friend, how’s the experiment going?

Mods and Admin
Can you please ask Mr/Ms Anorak if there are any plans to introduce Anorak anoraks? I would be very interested in purchasing one, especially if they come in biege (the new black). It doesn’t matter if they are not good quality as I never leave the house (except when carrying out Anorak inspired experiments) and it doesn’t have to look fashionable or anything as I have no friends to impress. Also with the onset of winter and rising fuel costs Anorak woolly hats would be great. Look forward to your reply

Pity they didn’t decide to keep the appartment and cuddle cat the same as it was!
Cuddle cat was washed twice!

Sorry to disappoint anyone..But G&K are no longer suspects
October 5th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
They must have larger Dingos too or it would have run off with one of the twins.
Honestly Julie - I do hope you are right. Alive and not in the hands of paedophiles - much better sceario that what the rest of us are thinking.
And I am trying to raise money to get to Portugal so I can look for her but alas no one has contributed to the Send Dee To Portugal’ fund yet.

Roger 234… Not a clue! what’s the difference between ordinary mood swings and bi-polar disorder? being eccentric and being psychotic? They’ve always said the line between genius and madness is very fine.
I love a bit of eccentricity myself…. normal can be boring!
Will 235 of course. So Maicen likes me really! Yippee.

Interesting, didn`t know that portugal had that many dingo`s.
The dingo must have been hiding behind the bedroom door from Gerry, then jane Tanner seen him run away with the child wrapped in a blanket, no wonder he was going in all directions. It must have been the drink that made her think it was a man.
October 5th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
#232 Have you ever had a child? It’s much easier than you seem to realize.

‘Why be abusive when you can be polite?’
Because polite is the new rude of course
October 5th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
That’s it moderation. What’s the differential diagnosis? What is the key factor separating NPD from normal range of behaviour?
October 5th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Maicen 224. Of course you could reverse the post and look at yourself?? What you said is exactly what I think of some of manic anti-McCanns.
Why be abusive when you can be polite? NPD?

Madeleine’s parents are innocent! They are in so much pain!
Remember back in 1980 in Australia Linda Chamberlin was convicted of killing her baby girl Azaria. She insisted she saw a Dingo take the baby out of the tent where the family were camping at Ayes Rock (Uluru). She was sent to jail in 1983 for killing her baby. Later they found out she was innocent as a man eventually came forward and said he saw a dingo with a baby in its mouth and he raced off. The baby’s clothes were found on the rock too. At the time the police reckoned there was Azaria’s blood all over their car, whatever!
Sometimes samples can be tampered with if a person in the business strongly believe that a person is guilty. This case is the similar!
This is my prediction!
The maid that worked at the resort had seen Madeleine around previously with her family. The parents might even remember this maid as she smiled at Madeleine. This maid was disturbed, very egocentric. She wanted a daughter like Madeleline so she organised with her male friends to check this girl out, which they did. One of the maid’s male friend lives near the resort and he helped the police hunt for Madeleine and also leave evidence to frame the Mc Canns. The other male friend took the child from the room while the maid waited in a car ready to take her away to the other friend that lives near by. While at the friend’s house they used a syringe to draw blood from Maddie to plant at the scene and out to the beach where the male friend disposed of while searching with the police for Maddie.
Maddie is still with the maid, but never goes outside, if she does she has to hide in a big picnic basket/box.
The maid has told Maddie her family are dead and she has been told to look after her.
She still calls for her mum.
She is in a remote area where there is a light house near a cliff. She was at the servo station on their way to this remote area, where that lady sore Maddie. The male friend that is with the maid does the running around for the maid, while the other male friend keeps her updated what is going on with the search.
Get out and find her! Stop accusing the parents as you’ll find out too late they were innocent!

For the sleuths out there.
Recent medical studies in the UK on childhood accidents are used as proof that more facilities and childcare services are needed for the lower social classes, because that is where the highest incidence of accidents occur.
Therefore, the social stigma factor of a doctor/mother losing her child to an accidental fall is significant.

Hope you are still around. I missed your post earlier.
To post a link.
When viewing the page you wish to provide the link for right click in the box at the top of your browser (where the page address is, the one with the http:// bit) and select copy, then right click in the box on the anorak page where you type your post and select paste. There are keyboard shortcuts for Cutting and Pasting but I have never used them.
Hope this helps.

Just out of interest - I am all speculated out, is there a ‘diminished responsibity’ in Portugese law.
TBH I really don’t know what to think about the case at the moment except pork isn’t as cheap as it once was.

Yes Will there is an NPD naughty step and I’m already on it!
I have a problem with all these disorders and syndromes… most are just variations of human personality. We’re all different and no-one’s perfect.
Most fashionnable currently are Bi-Polar and Aspergers. Not forgetting OCD and ADHD.

Thats a bit like the trick I used on the shrinks. Told them I was really mad - they said that admission was enough for them to believe I was sane hahahahaha.
