Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Becomes Mum
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – I CRY EVERY DAY SAYS KATE”
“For the first time she reveals her torment” – Kate gives the papers what they want: tears
Pages 6 and 7: “Madleine’s mum: I can’t stop crying” – Kate McCann is no longer Kate McCann; she is above all things Madeleine’s mum
“Obviously nothing can compare with the night Madeleine went missing,” says mum. And Gerry – dad’s – worst moment? “I think when we were made suspects in our own daughter’s disappearance – when the inference was that Madeleine was dead and that, somehow, we were involved…”
Yes…
“But, no it can’t get any worse than that first night…”
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Some days I just can’t stop the tears, says Maddie’s mother”
“Second police chief quits the case” – Tavares Almeida has followed his boss Goncarlo Amaral and left the business of Madeleine McCann to another lucky Portuguese cop
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE McCANN SPEAKS AS NEVER BEFORE..Every day felt like a week”
Page 5: “Being named suspects, the idea that we were involved, was terrible. But NOTHING can compare to the trauma of the first night our Madeleine went missing”
Kate is a “locum GP”. Gerry is a “heart specialist”. These are the facts. And they remain unaltered
The couple give an interview as they visit the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper, where they are presented with a cheque for £57,000 from the sales of the Madeleine wristbands
THE SUN front page: “KATE’S MADDIE ORDEAL – NOTHING’S AS BAD AS THAT NIGHT. Mum tells of torment”
Page 6: “I weep for Maddie…but we still have hope”
Says Kate McCann: “I’ve had days when if I wasn’t crying for Madeleine, I was crying from the messages people have sent us”
The McCanns “say their lowest point…was when Portuguese police declared them ‘arguidos’ – formal suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”. So not the night Madeleine disappeared, as the Express says?
Gerry is a “cardiologist”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Kate: I cry for my daughter every day”
Page 8 and 9: “Finding Maddie had gone was far worse than being named suspect in killing”
THE TIMES page 14: “The twins are the only part of our lives that are normal”
Kate McCann says: “There is a semblance of normality returning. It’s more normal than it was three weeks ago, Amelie and Sean can see that. But really how can it be normal without Madeleine?”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Second officer steps own from Madeleine inquiry” – Tavares Almeida. Bad Times, as Tavares were wont to say
THE GUARDIAN page 15: “Sacked Madeleine detective’s deputy seeks leave” – Senor Tavares. (Heaven Must be Missing An Angel)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “KATE McCANN: THE DAILY TORMENT OF LIFE WITHOUT MADELEINE”
Page 3: “The McCanns have kept Madeleine’s room the same as it was. The twins are allowed in for a few minutes - “Otherwise, the door remains closed most of the time”
Detectives make notes.

This idea of NPD has been asserted several times here. Indeed it has also been suggested of Hitler and Stalin. But what I have not seen is what you do when faced with a person with NPD, as is being alleged here. If she has NPD what could be done about it, and what would be Gerry’s options to control or modify it. After all one of the key attributes is a lack of empathy and there are still children in the family. By the way didn’t I read somewhere that 1% of the population suffers from this or some other personality disorder. If true it’s common.

I do not believe the people writting comments here can be older than 2,in fact they may be dictating to someone ’cause they cannot be old enough to write, since they show absolutely no conception of what it means to lose a child in the space of seconds, therefore go away and interfere with something else,go play sand castles ’cause you have no say in this, stop messing around and interfering.Either that or you are severely impaired in social cognition,or perhaps you are the type of ‘people’ who could commit such a crime. You show zero level of empathy, complete cruelty and selfishness. You disgust me,I find no words to express how much.

1. Richy
I have been shocked at the poor level of reporting by journalists. The Sky programme was candyfloss junk.
Journalism has probably been like this since day dot but only by taking an in-depth interest in a story do you get to see just how bad it really is.
I hope someone compiles an A1 Accuracy list of journalists who have proven to be reliable and accurate in their reporting.
Then I’ll stop reading newspapers and listening to the so called news media and just access the A1 list on the web.
Anyone up for doing that?

Kate and Gerry McCann send to US for help against evidence of sniffer dogs
Steve Bird and David Brown in Praia da Luz
The parents of Madeleine McCann have contacted the lawyers of a man charged with murder who successfully challenged sniffer dog evidence. His lawyers claimed it was unreliable and persuaded a judge in the US to throw out prosecution claims that the dogs had detected the smell of a corpse. Kate and Gerry McCann hope that the case could help them to prove their own innocence.
If the judicial system is to allow this case in USA to be used to discredit evidence in Mcs case and others then will the floodgates open for all other cases where highly trained and positivly proven sniffer dogs have been used ?

“Some people simply come to believe that they are the sun and we are the planets and stars circling around them. The laws of the land, and perhaps nature, do not apply to them; they can take what they want and should they sustain some kind of narcissistic injury, they believe themselves fully justified in striking out at others to restore their sense of balance. With this, you could be a political figure who took a bribe from a phony Arab Sheik, or a representative whose believed bribes were “cold cash” hidden in his home freezer. You could also be a junk bond king or the owner of a tech company who milked money from investors and employees while living a lavish life (despite permanently damaging other lives).Or you could be a priest and take terrible advantage of the lives of young people who looked up to you like they would God, or even a career federal agent entrusted with your nation’s secrets and that then you sold off to the Russians because you felt you were never fully appreciated and recognized by your agency. people like this believe they are above the law; that the laws are made for the ordinary citizen, but obviously not for them. As the late hotel billionairess Leona Helmsley was alleged to have stated, “Only little people pay taxes,” this before she went to jail for tax evasion. O.J., in Helmsely-like fashion, may have come to believe that rules, regulations and laws were likewise only for the little people, something his criminal trial for murder seemed to many to confirm.
A narcissistic injury can be suffered by someone with an over inflated sense of personal entitlement; someone who has come to believe that others should recognize and treat him special, and who then experiences a significant disappointment or socially embarrassing slight. Such an emotionally “injured” individual could, potentially, overreact and not only harm, but even attempt to destroy the person responsible for what he perceived as an intentional personal attack. The actions of a person like this are many times similar to what a stalker does to his victim, to include wanting to discomfort or harm someone he had once been close to. The gratification and sense of power that is obtained from this form of “persecution” is the food that feeds, but may not soothe the narcissistic hurt and wounded ego.”

Will, was Petra before or after Shep? I can’t remember….. I can remember being the right age for ‘get down Shep’ to be hysterical. Oh okay, it still makes me smile….

I FIND PEOPLE’S COMMENTS A COMPLETE WASTE OF SPACE,BORING,IGNORANT,UNNECESSARILY CRUEL,BUT ABOVE ALL WORTHLESS.THERE IS NO SUBSTANCE TO THEM AND INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SABOTAGE OTHERS’ EFFORTS TO HELP IN SUCH A TRAGEDY,YOU SHOULD CONSIDER DOING SOMETHING USEFUL YURSELVES,OR AT LEAST NOT HURTING OTHERS.WHEN YOU ARE ILL YOU GO TO THE DOCTOR,THE MCCANNS HAVE DEDICATED THEIR LIVES TO OTHERS’ HEALTH,YOU WHO TRY TO DESTROY THEM:YOU DESERVE NOTHING. I HOPE ONE DAY WHEN YOU NEED HELP NOBODY WILL BE THERE TO HELP.I REALLY DO.

So now the not-anti-McCanns are child abuser supporters? hmmm. That’s a very big leap and definitely ludicrous.
October 5th, 2007 at 10:45 am
Brandon, what are you saying -when have I said I like child abusers, and what is this nonsense that a license has been given “for allsort to look at little girls”. Do you really believe this?
My therapy remark was tongue-in-cheek, though maybe I have hit a sore point.
October 5th, 2007 at 10:45 am
Will, you rotten old fart, can you do me a favour.
I am technically challenged and have no idea how to link a page.
If you go to thisislondon there is a story there about how the British Police believe Madeleine is dead.

Harry if you do like child abusers, and feel the need to protect them instead of innocent children, then is this really the best therapy for you?

This campaign has made it possible for allsorts to look at little girls under the guise of finding maddie, hasnt it.

Four pigs were dispossed of last night. No knock on the door in the early hours so think I got away with it! Testing four scenarios.
October 5th, 2007 at 10:32 am
If there is speculation about the findings of the dogs. Take them back home and do a test run on them with “sweaty sandals, dirty nappies, rotting meat etc” and see what the dogs come up with. Let us all know the results so that we can either harop on this whole issue or let it be.
October 5th, 2007 at 10:30 am

Brandonflours-how would a marriage work with a narcissistic husband and a narcissistic wife? Would one be more dominant ie Mr Mc? Would they both pander to each others nacissisim or compete? Not that I am implying they are both narcissistic.
October 5th, 2007 at 10:27 am
from wikipedia
These traits will lead overly narcissistic parents to be very intrusive in some ways, and entirely neglectful in others. The children are punished if they do not respond adequately to the parents’ needs. This punishment may take a variety of forms, including physical abuse, angry outbursts, blame, attempts to instill guilt, emotional withdrawal, and criticism. Whatever form it takes, the purpose of the punishment is to enforce compliance with the parents’ narcissistic needs[8].
People who are overly narcissistic commonly feel rejected, humiliated and threatened when criticised. To protect themselves from these dangers, they often react with disdain, rage, and/or defiance to any slight, real or imagined [9]. To avoid such situations, some narcissistic people withdraw socially and may feign modesty or humility.
There is a broad spectrum of pathologically narcissistic personalities, styles, and reactions — from the very mild, reactive and transient, to the severe and inflexible narcissistic personality disorder.
Though individuals with NPD are often ambitious and capable, the inability to tolerate setbacks, disagreements or criticism, along with lack of empathy, make it difficult for such individuals to work cooperatively with others or to maintain long-term professional achievements [10]. With narcissistic personality disorder, the person’s perceived fantastic grandiosity, often coupled with a hypomanic mood, is typically not commensurate with his or her real accomplishments.
