Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Becomes Mum
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – I CRY EVERY DAY SAYS KATE”
“For the first time she reveals her torment” – Kate gives the papers what they want: tears
Pages 6 and 7: “Madleine’s mum: I can’t stop crying” – Kate McCann is no longer Kate McCann; she is above all things Madeleine’s mum
“Obviously nothing can compare with the night Madeleine went missing,” says mum. And Gerry – dad’s – worst moment? “I think when we were made suspects in our own daughter’s disappearance – when the inference was that Madeleine was dead and that, somehow, we were involved…”
Yes…
“But, no it can’t get any worse than that first night…”
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Some days I just can’t stop the tears, says Maddie’s mother”
“Second police chief quits the case” – Tavares Almeida has followed his boss Goncarlo Amaral and left the business of Madeleine McCann to another lucky Portuguese cop
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE McCANN SPEAKS AS NEVER BEFORE..Every day felt like a week”
Page 5: “Being named suspects, the idea that we were involved, was terrible. But NOTHING can compare to the trauma of the first night our Madeleine went missing”
Kate is a “locum GP”. Gerry is a “heart specialist”. These are the facts. And they remain unaltered
The couple give an interview as they visit the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper, where they are presented with a cheque for £57,000 from the sales of the Madeleine wristbands
THE SUN front page: “KATE’S MADDIE ORDEAL – NOTHING’S AS BAD AS THAT NIGHT. Mum tells of torment”
Page 6: “I weep for Maddie…but we still have hope”
Says Kate McCann: “I’ve had days when if I wasn’t crying for Madeleine, I was crying from the messages people have sent us”
The McCanns “say their lowest point…was when Portuguese police declared them ‘arguidos’ – formal suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”. So not the night Madeleine disappeared, as the Express says?
Gerry is a “cardiologist”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Kate: I cry for my daughter every day”
Page 8 and 9: “Finding Maddie had gone was far worse than being named suspect in killing”
THE TIMES page 14: “The twins are the only part of our lives that are normal”
Kate McCann says: “There is a semblance of normality returning. It’s more normal than it was three weeks ago, Amelie and Sean can see that. But really how can it be normal without Madeleine?”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Second officer steps own from Madeleine inquiry” – Tavares Almeida. Bad Times, as Tavares were wont to say
THE GUARDIAN page 15: “Sacked Madeleine detective’s deputy seeks leave” – Senor Tavares. (Heaven Must be Missing An Angel)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “KATE McCANN: THE DAILY TORMENT OF LIFE WITHOUT MADELEINE”
Page 3: “The McCanns have kept Madeleine’s room the same as it was. The twins are allowed in for a few minutes - “Otherwise, the door remains closed most of the time”
Detectives make notes.

Stevo and Krissie. Thought it was the landlines and emails that were being intercepted. But I digress from the real issue……GERRY’S HAIRCUTS! The blog:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pamela.watson43/pamalam/GERRY‘S%20BLOG%20DIARY.htm
From 7/Aug/07. ‘I spent a couple of hours this afternoon working on forthcoming events but did manage to squeeze in a much-needed haircut!’
Also worth looking at is 15/Aug/07 regarding the Fund. John McCann reiterates that it will be used for Madeleine - no mention of any other kids (who cares) - and then the bit at the end is basically saying…..keep it rolling in please.
And how much have they spent to date actually LOOKING for Madeleine? Answers on a postage stamp please (with cheque enclosed) - oh or PayPal if it is more convenient.

Bugging equipment is readily available: http://www.camosurveillance.com/uhf-pen-transmitter.htm

Why are the McCanns so worried about their cell’s being bugged and using the land line then……..
October 5th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
I’ve been on Arorak for nearly two years. Nothing to do with the McCanns!
No need for you to be smart ass by mentioning my name again… I’ve already got ‘anonymous/paulette’ trying to post messages to my blog five times a day!!

They are coming up with some new features that can override the “turn off” switch of the cell phones and activate the loudspeaker

http://www.traceamobile.co.uk/mobiletrackingguide.php
Tracking a mobile phone.
“GSM mobile phone tracking is cheaper, but less accurate than GPS satellite tracking which has been used for many years by the road haulage industry and in car Sat Navigators. Unlike GPS, GSM won’t show you what street the mobile is on. What it will do though is show you a radius of where it is likely to be. The accuracy will vary on a number of factors, such as the landscape (i.e. is it flat or hilly), how many phone masts are nearby (towns are much better than the countryside in this respect for network coverage) and even the weather will affect the results slightly, but the best accuracy is usually up to 50 to 100 metres. Obviously this is enough to find a person or stolen vehicle, but not always a lost phone.”

Sure…and that’s why I suspect the PJ didn’t really bug their phones. They may of course have bugged their apartment and that would have been a piece of cake by comparison.

454 - What are you talking about ‘my agenda’. I don’t have an agenda. I was merely stating a possibility in respect of when Sky were first contacted, based on a fact I not aware of previously.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:22 pm
484. I gotcha. For some reason I thought there was much hubbub about the microphone capabilities of our cells when not in use and not just with a “bug” planted.

I thought you posted under the name Bernadine? I saw that and it wasn’t 6 months ago.

In that story, the phones themselves weren’t the bug. The bug was inside the phone and just used the cellphone mike as the pickup device…hence it could be turned off.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:18 pm
475. Does that work for past activities or only for present time activities?

Who says there were 3 masts in Praia?
Where are you getting your info about being able to triangulate a mobile phone to within 10 feet. I’m a pilot and fly planes. The normal radio beacons for navigation (a VOR) isn’t even that accurate.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:17 pm
I guess they can actually hear what you are saying in the same room, and not even on the phone……we all better put our cells in the freezer than ……ewwww….what a thought. Privacy is a false sense of anominity.

I did not count KM’s outfits.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Stevo… I never posted under different names. That was another little exaggeration of his. (corrected by Mods and Admin) I originally posted under my own name (6 months ago) but got crank mail!
No he didn’t apologise!
But no problem…
however you can only throw stuff if you’re whiter than white yourself!!!

Yes, but note it wasn’t the phones that were being bugged. There was a roving bug installed in the phones themselves. This stuff really is the realm of high end agencies and I really doubt the PJ are at this level. I think bugged telephones make good stories in the paper.

sorry should have read certainly are, thats me sober lawdy lawdy.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:15 pm
I suppose that would work for a perp who lived five miles away and was suddenly picked up within the 2 mile r of the resort - or something like that…..wouldn’t work so well with the guests moving within the 2 miles then……
October 5th, 2007 at 7:13 pm
stevo your mobile phone is your own biggest enemy if you want to remain annonymous, using trianglation between three phone masts your phone can be pin pointed to within 10 feet, also if the cops want to know who or when you are phoning the contents of such or your e-mails,they simply apply to a court or empowered official to grant access or a tap on their selected targets, hardly CSI,believe me I know. The thing is people think unregistered sims or phones are untraceable, well they certainly aint.

Mobile phone towers are typically placed 2 miles apart or thereabouts. As you move from cell to cell, your signal is routed through a particular tower. The tracing of mobiles works on that principle. Obviously it can’t pinpoint you within that 2 mile zone. That’s what they mean about tracing you via your phone. But…I have a new phone which has an inbuilt GPS that can send a precise signal to within a few feet so if I was lost and dialled 911, it would be able to pinpoint my location - although the technology for that is in the phone and not all phones have that.

267 and 333 Brandonflour. I quite agree.
Did anyone yet see psychic Kate Houston’s interview on today’s Belfast Telegraph?
Two things widely discussed yesterday but I was too tired to mingle: The cuddle cat was washed twice according to the leaks. The first time occured as amazingly as some days after Madeleine’s disappearance because of the sun lotion on it(?). The other wash happened after the sweaty Portuguese police hands had been clutching and inspecting it. Is the cat again in the hands of investigators?
I think the Portuguese sources stopped leaking 2-3 weeks ago already so this had absolutely nothing to do Mr. Amaral’s transferral BUT WAS DUE TO OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES. Since then we only have the mcCann leaks to chew.

469. That is very very bad form and the damages cannot be so easily dismissed.

So does anyone have the link to Gerry’s full blog dating back to day 1 (haircut #1) ?

I remember clearly Tony attaacked her pretty directly and forcefully, and not only that, but made her the only member of the forum whose identity is fully public. I can see why she’d be pretty irritated by him and out to expose HIM, too.

Long ago she had published her own name and website, named a title of a book she wrote, so shall we agree on 6 of one and half dozen of the other

That was pre-digital mobiles. Analogue mobiles were just a 2-way radio transceiver with a signal like you receive through your radio but at a lot higher frequency (gigahertz). Digital mobiles scramble your voice and send it as an encoded signal that has to be unscrambled. Lady Di was 10 years ago and digital mobiles weren’t universal back then.

More on 463 - so what if they found no new suspects, no pinging in the pocket as Maddie was carried away, no odd foodsteps to the supermarket with the phone in the pocket etc?
Everyone carries cell phones with them……..

Yes, I remember it. But then are you going to continue attacking him? I mean, you posted under different names in here and he accepted you weren’t paid by Team McCann or any part of it. I thought he apologised to you. I remember seeing that. If so, why are you continuing attacking him?
October 5th, 2007 at 7:05 pm
Stevo 462 Didn’t the IRA do a spot of eavesdropping of mobiles, and I think Lady Di (or Charles) was litened to in London? Can’t be difficult. Soemwhere I think I saw the equipment is “expensive” several ‘000.
