Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Becomes Mum
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – I CRY EVERY DAY SAYS KATE”
“For the first time she reveals her torment” – Kate gives the papers what they want: tears
Pages 6 and 7: “Madleine’s mum: I can’t stop crying” – Kate McCann is no longer Kate McCann; she is above all things Madeleine’s mum
“Obviously nothing can compare with the night Madeleine went missing,” says mum. And Gerry – dad’s – worst moment? “I think when we were made suspects in our own daughter’s disappearance – when the inference was that Madeleine was dead and that, somehow, we were involved…”
Yes…
“But, no it can’t get any worse than that first night…”
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Some days I just can’t stop the tears, says Maddie’s mother”
“Second police chief quits the case” – Tavares Almeida has followed his boss Goncarlo Amaral and left the business of Madeleine McCann to another lucky Portuguese cop
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE McCANN SPEAKS AS NEVER BEFORE..Every day felt like a week”
Page 5: “Being named suspects, the idea that we were involved, was terrible. But NOTHING can compare to the trauma of the first night our Madeleine went missing”
Kate is a “locum GP”. Gerry is a “heart specialist”. These are the facts. And they remain unaltered
The couple give an interview as they visit the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper, where they are presented with a cheque for £57,000 from the sales of the Madeleine wristbands
THE SUN front page: “KATE’S MADDIE ORDEAL – NOTHING’S AS BAD AS THAT NIGHT. Mum tells of torment”
Page 6: “I weep for Maddie…but we still have hope”
Says Kate McCann: “I’ve had days when if I wasn’t crying for Madeleine, I was crying from the messages people have sent us”
The McCanns “say their lowest point…was when Portuguese police declared them ‘arguidos’ – formal suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”. So not the night Madeleine disappeared, as the Express says?
Gerry is a “cardiologist”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Kate: I cry for my daughter every day”
Page 8 and 9: “Finding Maddie had gone was far worse than being named suspect in killing”
THE TIMES page 14: “The twins are the only part of our lives that are normal”
Kate McCann says: “There is a semblance of normality returning. It’s more normal than it was three weeks ago, Amelie and Sean can see that. But really how can it be normal without Madeleine?”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Second officer steps own from Madeleine inquiry” – Tavares Almeida. Bad Times, as Tavares were wont to say
THE GUARDIAN page 15: “Sacked Madeleine detective’s deputy seeks leave” – Senor Tavares. (Heaven Must be Missing An Angel)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “KATE McCANN: THE DAILY TORMENT OF LIFE WITHOUT MADELEINE”
Page 3: “The McCanns have kept Madeleine’s room the same as it was. The twins are allowed in for a few minutes - “Otherwise, the door remains closed most of the time”
Detectives make notes.

“I’ve already got ‘anonymous/paulette’ trying to post messages to my blog five times a day!!”
Now why does that not suprise me. I think this woman, Anonymous or whatever she is called really does spend all day posting messages to Anorak, Paulo Reis, Dear Abbey, and anyone else who she thinks NEEDS to her her dried up opinions. Blogs are her full time job. Did you know that she eats steaks with her bare hands.
BY THE WAY PAULO REIS is NOT ON A CRUSADE FOR THE TRUTH! He is like any other crap journalist, trying to make a name for himself at the expense of Madeleine McCann. Anonymous is the only one who posts him everday at least 3 times a day letting him know how great he is.
PAULO if you are reading this you are being complemented by a raving lunatic!

Yes, I wasn’t very clear, I was mainly referring to cell/mobile phones. But in most countries the police are supposed to get a court order, but in practice that requirement might not be fully met in every instance.

545 …. you’re sick! That is just SO ludicrous!

Sorry stupid question: Is the hair cut an evidence of a careless attitude or an assumed cover up to hide traces of drugs in the hair? Bold would be convicting, then?

Haircut or not, he still looks like a …………… (fill in the blank space)

Because Mods and Admin love Molly then the haircut must be a fact . I really don’t buy that and Molly is anti-McCann, can’t imagine anyone interpreting her differently. And by the way PEOPLE who gives a shit about at stupid haircut!!! It is not proof of anything.

Mods and Admin / June… you didn’t mention that I actually the first one to advise Tony B not to have all his details on line because of what had happened to me! Just thought I’d mention that!
I didn’t have a problem per se and didn’t complain about it when it happened…. until I got the probs outside of this forum. Not on.

Mods and admin
In addition I did report the matter higher, but then the following day, you posted links to your site anyway, and corrected the one Tony posted. Its all there, nothing added or deleted.
You also posted the title of your book before Tony posted your details, he did learn his info from you,and added two + two

521 Stevo
Sorry if you haven’t said this, Stevo, but a lot of people seem to have been pouring scorn on the Cipriano story which, if rubbish, has still led to Amaral being under investigation for possibly having covered up torture by his colleagues. My apologies if you have not done so.
Murat was NOT investigated because of the reporter. When she went to the police, they ALREADY has their suspicions.
And my point? Only that being an arguido does not indicate certain guilt. It looks as though Murat is going to have his arguido status removed. We await the outcome for Armaral.
By the way, when the Murat trial-by-media was at full swing, it GM himself who pointed out, in answer to a question from a pushy reporter, that everyone was innocent until charged and convicted. He appeared to me to find the then media pursuit of Murat very distasteful.
I know you don’t think arguido status means certain guilt but you do seem certain yourself that they are guilty! I’m only being cautious.
Sorry if I sounded accusatory in the earlier post. Didn’t mean to! I have only skimmed through some posts this evening. Must make sure of my facts!

Mods and Admin to ( in any order )Moderation, Julie, Stevo and Tony
re the revelations of Moderation’s identity. Months ago she did have her details online for all to see, so Tony wasn’t revealing what was unknown.
We have made a note of the event however, but seriously now could the matter be dropped. In addition Tony did reveal his own id too, but following my advice he dropped it.
I have also had my id revealed some months back, in an attempt to discredit me, it didn’t work.

Stevo (529), in my humble uneducated opinion on the subject I would hazard a guess as to say that if the actual “buggings” were being done by authorities as part of an ongoing investigation, then it would be perfectly legal and admissable.

Interesting video…ta very much.

Stevo When I lived in TX, the people who lived down the road were making and selling drugs. They did their deals using a mobil phone. The man in the house behind them started picking up their conversations and he told my husband who was the local area co-ordinator for our local ‘Code Blue’ A sort of mobil neibourhood watch. He informed the police and they listened into the phone. As I understand it a mobil phone is very easy to listen into.

In theory perhaps but in reality I doubt it. Taps are only of use if you can use the evidence legally. Where I live, one-party consent is legal. I have a lawsuit of my own right now where I recorded a conversation and it forms part of my evidence. The defendant is pissed and in their defence, they say that I did not get their consent first. It’s a pity their lawyer didn’t read the statute first eh? In this state, one-party consent recordings (meaning where one party is contributing to the recording is present) are legal and are in many US states.
What is the law in Portugal?
October 5th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
Terrorists buy multiple cell phone, 1000 at one time, and use and throw away. I suppose they do this for a reason, otherwise, they’d just use one phone or two.
October 5th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
Why is no one interviewing O’Brien? Lot of loose ends there.
