Madeleine McCann: Kate McCann Becomes Mum
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
DAILY EXPRESS front page: “MADELEINE – I CRY EVERY DAY SAYS KATE”
“For the first time she reveals her torment” – Kate gives the papers what they want: tears
Pages 6 and 7: “Madleine’s mum: I can’t stop crying” – Kate McCann is no longer Kate McCann; she is above all things Madeleine’s mum
“Obviously nothing can compare with the night Madeleine went missing,” says mum. And Gerry – dad’s – worst moment? “I think when we were made suspects in our own daughter’s disappearance – when the inference was that Madeleine was dead and that, somehow, we were involved…”
Yes…
“But, no it can’t get any worse than that first night…”
DAILY MAIL page 7: “Some days I just can’t stop the tears, says Maddie’s mother”
“Second police chief quits the case” – Tavares Almeida has followed his boss Goncarlo Amaral and left the business of Madeleine McCann to another lucky Portuguese cop
DAILY MIRROR front page: “KATE McCANN SPEAKS AS NEVER BEFORE..Every day felt like a week”
Page 5: “Being named suspects, the idea that we were involved, was terrible. But NOTHING can compare to the trauma of the first night our Madeleine went missing”
Kate is a “locum GP”. Gerry is a “heart specialist”. These are the facts. And they remain unaltered
The couple give an interview as they visit the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper, where they are presented with a cheque for £57,000 from the sales of the Madeleine wristbands
THE SUN front page: “KATE’S MADDIE ORDEAL – NOTHING’S AS BAD AS THAT NIGHT. Mum tells of torment”
Page 6: “I weep for Maddie…but we still have hope”
Says Kate McCann: “I’ve had days when if I wasn’t crying for Madeleine, I was crying from the messages people have sent us”
The McCanns “say their lowest point…was when Portuguese police declared them ‘arguidos’ – formal suspects over their daughter’s disappearance”. So not the night Madeleine disappeared, as the Express says?
Gerry is a “cardiologist”
DAILY STAR front page: “MADDIE – Kate: I cry for my daughter every day”
Page 8 and 9: “Finding Maddie had gone was far worse than being named suspect in killing”
THE TIMES page 14: “The twins are the only part of our lives that are normal”
Kate McCann says: “There is a semblance of normality returning. It’s more normal than it was three weeks ago, Amelie and Sean can see that. But really how can it be normal without Madeleine?”
THE INDEPENDENT page 8: “Second officer steps own from Madeleine inquiry” – Tavares Almeida. Bad Times, as Tavares were wont to say
THE GUARDIAN page 15: “Sacked Madeleine detective’s deputy seeks leave” – Senor Tavares. (Heaven Must be Missing An Angel)
DAILY TELEGRAPH front page: “KATE McCANN: THE DAILY TORMENT OF LIFE WITHOUT MADELEINE”
Page 3: “The McCanns have kept Madeleine’s room the same as it was. The twins are allowed in for a few minutes - “Otherwise, the door remains closed most of the time”
Detectives make notes.

605 - ned
Because pro McCanns twist everything they say to fit whatever it is they want it to fit.

Batman you have a very wicked sense of humor- I love it. But I think the money would be better spent on a round the world cruise. While at sea Gerry would have time to have a lot of haircuts and write his blog. Kate would have lots of new oceons to look at. The twins would have a great time and fall overboard while mum and dad dined with the captain.

She did have a sense of danger -…..[so she wouldn't have walked out. Someone would have had to have abducted her?]
Or she did have a sense of danger and so did we, but we simply couldn’t be bothered?
Or She had a sense of danger, but being a child knows nothing, so we could leave her alone with her sense of danger, and we could go out and have a bit of fun?
October 5th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Unfortunately the McCann parents did not have a sense of danger.
It was another ridiculous comment from the mother who’s over her guilt for leaving her children alone.

“by the way ned/Krissie/or will the real Stevo please stand up.
You really need to get better at spelling because you just keep showing your self up as a multiple alias poster!!”
What can I say? You really are an idiot.

606 - No one has a sense of danger when they are asleep. Even more so if they were sedated.
A person has to be awake to process the information in respect of a percieved threat to sense danger.
October 5th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
606; they felt they were being watched according to gerry, but still went out and left the kids…you know like you do.!..

“Boring ranters” huh? …… Do I refer to you on the other side as the “McCann Fans” (just as derogatory a remark in my books)!
Careful with the choice of words ….. just because my very strong beliefs in this case are TOTALLY against the Mc’s, purely because of their initial neglect of their own children, which led to Madeleine’s “misplacement”! This does not mean that I am a ranter!
And …. following on from my initial disgust at them leaving their young children alone ….. they then went on to become “up-and-coming” celebs, and entirely FORGOT why they were initially in front of the cameras ….. i.e. to find their “misplaced” child ……. GONE as a direct result of their own actions …….. OOOPS sorry am I ranting here?

604 Judge Dread. Actually I think it went up by about 5k last week. But maybe this is just a little extra on the side like Branson’s backing and double-glazing boy. Small change really - but an enormous amount to other families who have missing children.
Challenge (which I regularly post) - can anyone name - off the top of their head - even one other child who has gone missing since 3rd May? I can’t. And why oh why are they not given anything by the well-meaning supporters of neglectful parents?
October 5th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
That statement makes no sense. Why in the world would a 3 year old have a sense of danger there…at the resort?
If she had a sense of danger, the parents had a sense of danger, and if so then………?
October 5th, 2007 at 9:47 pm

An important question!
What DOES “She has a sense of danger there” mean? Anyone?
October 5th, 2007 at 9:46 pm
Just a thought everyones talking about kate having lots of clothes:question when was she able to buy them with all the cameras on her, hell she couldnt fart without it being reported but obviously she must have got time out and a bit of privacy, NOW to the pro maccans, they couldnt get rid of the body because they were watched all the time……mmmmmmm….which is it to be …..just a thought.

588 - If Gerry picked up a cheque for £57,000 last Wednesday how come it is not included in the total for the fund. That has remained at £1,041,697.60 for a couple of months?
October 5th, 2007 at 9:45 pm
The only things one can rely on are things that were either said on camera or else Gerry’s Blog
Having now found all the blogs I found Day 117 the most interesting. It was two days after Father Jose Manuel got back from his three week holiday
October 5th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
What does “She does have a sense of danger there” suppose to mean?
October 5th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Well, after reading about 40 of these blog comments, which are not the first I have read of this sort, I am convinced that most of the commentators are alot of hot air. Please, please, please do not write things that you do not know anything about. While I do not personally know Gerry and Kate McCann, I do know they lost a little girl. THis little girl in all of the photos, videos I have seen looks like a very happy, normal little 4 year old. No parent is perfect. I am a mother of 5 adult children and believe me I have made awful mistakes and my children still love me and have forgiven me of anything I have done unjustly to them. Do you really believe Brandonflours that what you write makes any sense in this situation? You make judgements of other people, but do you ever judge your own motives and why you write the scathing things you do? I feel sorry for you. There is an old saying “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”. Try that once!

587 hello Julie you are a lady so you get the caps, only manners.if you think of your mobile as a small computer, and your calls and texts as emails, the calls with sound the text as words,it is easy to hack into someones network or pc and intercept their communications,it is exactly the same for mobile networks.why do you think that internet security is such a huge money making business, the skill in hacking is to do it without being traced or your chosen method of hacking registering.as fast as we can program new software add-on to better protect us the hackers crack it,it is a never ending battle, quite simply as i said before, its people who write the software and program all our modern day techi stuff the machine or the phone is only a vehicle for the fruits of the programmers,it has no input of its own,man makes them and man can break them.

I believe CBS is having a “Madeleine McCann” special tonight in the U.S.
October 5th, 2007 at 9:39 pm
590 Julie. Or…on using the Fund money…..’One thing we are actively considering is erecting a purpose built-recording studio/covered indoor jogging circuit in our back garden. That way we can combine increasing awareness of Mandie’s plight with avoiding getting wet in the winter on our daily jog……’

I think it’s important for me to say that I also find it disturbing that a formal campaign should be started to bring down the McCanns.
If they are innocent, a campaign such as your could help to make mud stick, Tony. A few “boring ranters” on Anorak, to use Judith C’s term, probably won’t make that much difference and, in any case, opposing views can be expressed on this forum even if some people don’t like that!
Tony, on your website, which I haven’t visited, do you invite open discussion or is it only for those who wish to campaign against the McCanns?
Are you preparing a book on this subject?
I don’t wish to be rude, and you have every right, given the law at the moment, to set up your site/campaign but I also have the right to say I find it distateful at this stage of the proceedings.

Phew that was hard work. Finally got the grandchildren to sleep (without sedating them).
549, Thanks for the info. It makes sense that Jo Wheeler would have contacted Sky then, being employed by them. Even so, Martin Brunt claimed is was a family friend, which if she drank at the Tapas Bar she could have become during the week they was there.
I’m surprised there has been no in depth interview with her about event that night, although I suppose she to is subject to the secrecy laws. Still Sky could have claimed the info came from a reliable source to get past that obstacle.

Here is an extract from CBS: An interview before they were made arguidos. Really scary…
Madeleine is “pretty,” Kate said. ” … She’s very sociable, very engaging. She’s bright and funny. She does have a sense of danger there.”
“Mm-hmm,” Gerry agreed.
“Even though she’s very young,” Kate continued. “She does have a sense of danger.”
“We’re clearly biased,” Gerry admitted, “but Madeleine is as close to the perfect child as you could get, you know, for someone who is so young, less than four when she was taken. She really is amazing. Nothing like this has ever happened — and I mean, going with anyone she didn’t know, for example.”
(…)
What, Schindler asked, was the first thing that crossed their minds when they came back to the room from dinner and realized that Madeleine wasn’t there?
“I knew straight away she’d been taken,” Kate replied.
“At the first moment?” Schindler asked.
“Well,” Kate responded, “put it this way: I mean, she hadn’t walked out of the apartment.”

Krissie - you didn’t happen to catch the Early Show today did you????
October 5th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
Wll done brandoflours.. it never occured to me that NPD was a possible explanation for the behaviour of the McC’s. I’ll study it.
My gut feelings of unease came from the comments heard on an interview about 1 month after the abduction and the amazing campaign started up to find madeleine.I was staggered at the attitude of the parents.
By the way, now that KM has shed a tear, how many will Madeleine shed?…. Yes, of course, that decision has been made already by her parents.

“I Just read the lastest from the Daily mail and the McCann Lawyers deny that the British police claimed that Madeleine is dead. Go to the daily mail and see for yourself”
Yes, I agree. The headline before 4.30-pm today said: ‘British Detectives: Madeleine WAS killed in holiday apartment’ The headline after 4.30-pm reads: ‘McCanns’ anger at Portuguese police ‘Madeleine is Dead’ claim’. So the McCann spin team didn’t waste much time did they?
October 5th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
Wow it really looks like she has mascara on!!! And aside from the why - I want to know how do you get mascara on a two year old?
She appears to have blue eye so there is no way her eyelashes would be that dark.
Odd isn’t it?

“We’re in the process of looking into which specific areas we need to use this fund.” (Quote from Gerry relayed via Batman Post 588).
Now a damn good place to start with using the fund would be :
a) To search for your own daughter, who was “supposedly” abducted from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the evening of 3 May 2007!
Your “use” of this fund has become like someone making a decision as to which car they would like to buy …..ummmm aaaaah, let me think on it for a while, ummmm, aaaah ………. OR is there actually nothing to search for? And you know this for a fact??????

Mike - McCandle in the Wind. So excellent. Keep ‘em coming.
October 5th, 2007 at 9:28 pm
‘Last Wednesday, Kate and Gerry went to the Leicester Mercury to receive a cheque of 57,000 pounds, raised through the selling of green and yellow Madeleine bands. Asked how the money would be used, Gerry McCann said: “We’re in the process of looking into which specific areas we need to use this fund.
“We are about to start a widespread campaign so I can assure you it will be put to very good use. We want to increase awareness, get back to basics if you like. Target specific areas with pictures and billboards and messages. We want to refocus the coverage.”
Speaking about the night Madeleine disappeared, Gerry said that they had no plan to involve the Media, as they only found the Press coverage was huge when they returned from the Police station, on, on Fryday, and “found 150 reporters there”.’
Source Gazeta Digital.
Anyone else seen this. Might have been discussed already. Certainly raking in even more money was not front page news. What are they using it all for?
Time to expand the Fund to include other missing kids Clarence. I know you read this. So in about one week I am anticipating that the McCanns, in their own personal depths of despair and anguish, want to reach out and help other families…..blah blah blah……
Follow the money……………….

Soothsayer …. sorry but I really am not a technically minded person … (in a different line altogether). I realise it is a piece of cake to trace the locality of a mobile phone …. I’ve had it done to my own phone to within 5 metres of where my phone was. Is it also that simple to “intercept” a conversation from that mobile phone, and also to be able to hear what the person on the receiving end of that call is saying?
