Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

I know the words, I’ve read what he said and again I think they were advised not to dwell on it for fears of public out cries like the one you are now demonstrating. Of course as I have said a zillion times it was wrong to leave the children alone in the apt as it did contribute to Maddy’s disappearance. But I personally do not think that they actually physically killed their child and disposed of her body the way that the PJ are claiming. Was it not in the papers this morning that the FSS results are inconclusive? I have not read all the papers yet maybe News of the World is the only one reporting this.

We don’t need ludo. Gordie Broon has come up with a good one: “tosh”
“So it was “tosh”. There will be no early election. Gordon Brown will claim that although he considered going to the polls he did not believe it was enough to run on 100 days’ track record in the job. He would prefer to have a real mandate for change.”
So now it will be tosh to suggest the McConns are guilty as sin… C’Mon Clarrie you saw it here first…
October 7th, 2007 at 12:02 pm
Yes, they have justified it several times, only regretting they were absent the moment M was taken.
I have real trouble dealing with their attempts to justify leaving the children in an unlocked apartment, in a rear bedroom with no possibility of hearing cries, let alone seeing what was going on. Don’t you?

Dora- Gerrys words ” It was like dining at the bottom of the garden at home.”
My words- NOT!!!!
October 7th, 2007 at 11:57 am
118,
Are you 100% sure of this. They have talked about their guilt and regret and perhaps in a way that most do not accept but I would also think they were advised not to dwell on this decision in public for fear of public out cries and worry for their twins.

111, Dora,
The trouble is, after the event, the parents still think it was OK to leave the children.

Holy holiday resorts
Shurely shome mishtake - everyone know lud is short for Llandudno
October 7th, 2007 at 11:52 am
114,
I agree.
October 7th, 2007 at 11:51 am
112.
the answer is obvious NO! But again people will do what they do based on their judgement in the moment. Many times they are lucky and are safe and other times they are not so lucky as in the McCann case.

How flippant to do a quick evaluation , they left the children on the first night,on a holiday resort and decide it was safe to leave three very young children, not to mention the other Tapas group children. How can a parent summize on the first day on holiday that it is safe to leave children alone at night so they can go eat , drink and be merry, aswell as test their intellect in a pub quiz. Intellect they may have, common sense they all do not. Was child free nights out that crucial? After all they had child free days every day. Surely one of them in the group had enough common sense and caring for their children to say “no it doesn’t feel right, I’m stopping in”. Did the grandmother in the Tapas group not feel their activities were a bit selfish and dangerous. I’m sure if my mother were on holiday with myself and my family she would think it LUDICROUS to leave the children and give me a good bollocking for even suggesting it.
How safe is safe? Leaving a million pounds in an open room! Bet if they put the million in Northern Rock they would have worried more than they obviously worried about their children on that holiday.
Fact- Madeleine would have been home enjoying her 4th birthday with her family if they hadn’t left her.

Morning everyone.
NOSEYCOW! Did you name the kitten yet? Well I think that in order to enter into the spirit of things he/she should be simply called
Ludo.
Short for another word which we are not longer allowed to use, but which ends is cruous.
You have all been very busy and I need to get a coffee and catch up.

111 108 et al.
On the subject of leaving under fours unattended whilst going on the piss…
OK so it happened - hindsight etc.
So here’s the real question. Would you advise a parent that it’s perfectly OK to leave three under fours in an unlocked apartment in a foreign country - TONIGHT?
That’s the sort of question people might get asked in court and it’s a yes or no, I fear…

Again people come from different walks of life and make their decisions accordingly. I am sure there are plenty of people who AFTER THE FACT thought is was mad to leave the children because they knew it led to Maddy’s disappearance. Just because someone says they would never leave their child doesn’t mean that it is necessarily true. I know of a mother with two small children who would regurlarly leave them in the house while she dashed across the street to pick up food at the shops. In those few minutes something terrible could happen to her children and yet she continually goes on about how stupid the McCanns were without acknowledging her own negligent behaviour.
By the way I was responding to Susannah’s rhetorical question. If our actions were always based on rhetroical questioning we probably would never get much done.

“quantum physics and global positioning technology”
Can Mr Krugel find auntie Phat Phil on his laptop screen? I fear they’ve taken her.
I assume he has a 17 inch MacBook Pro.
October 7th, 2007 at 11:29 am
104, Dora,
Even the locals from this safe resort thought they were mad to leave children alone.
How can anyone judge how safe a place is on a short holiday?

“discredited in his methodology”.
I have never heard of this guy what type of methods does he use? Has he solved any cases before?

Yes.
Not acting on the email tipoff about the maid is pretty inexcusable though, IMO.
October 7th, 2007 at 11:26 am
Krugel’s technique uses a combination of quantum physics and global positioning technology. Well, well.
Now it is really beginning to sound like she was “Taken” by aliens from the beach, without a trace.

Firstly I don’t think ANYONE who believes the McCanns are innocent of killing their daughter also think it was acceptable to leave 3 children for the evening even with the half hour checks. I have never heard anyone supporting this decision. The question is did they kill their daughter and I do not believe that they did.
The question of leaving a million dollars on your bed in an unlocked room is quite provocative but you also have to realise that the Mark Warner Resort mentioned the burglaries after the fact. Meaning that although this was an ongoing problem at this particular resort they failed to mention it to any of the incoming tourists.
From what I understand It was a small family friendly resort, off peak season, quiet with mainly locals strolling by. THE QUESTION IS WHETHER YOU FEEL SECURE. I guess the McCanns must have felt secure in making the decsion to dine away from their sleeping children.
People come from different backgrounds and experiences and therefore will equally vary regarding their personal security in any holiday hotel/apt. For example I life in a big city with a lot of crime and would never leave my front door unlocked whereas my parents live a in quiet suburb and think nothing of leaving their door unlocked from time to time as they feel very safe. And behind that very door are all their most treasured and valuable goods. Therefore there are some of us who are extremely parnoid about personal security and we triple check locked doors, windows, install burglar alarms and there are others who are quite happy to leave an extra key to their house under their welcome ma t(the obvious hiding place).

Hey Anorak. If we can give our spare time to make this site what it is, then surely you can get some tech people off their lazy asses to make it readable.
Theres enough like minded people here to go in to competition with you………….. So get it sorted.

I agree there is no longer an urgency to get this “solved” and win some votes - and I have posted similar comments that Gordie will drop them when it suits him. News today is that he’s behind Dave Snooty in the polls. His honeymoon and baptism of fire is over by the looks of it and we are approaching a winter of discontent.
I seem to recall Jim Callaghan dithering over calling a general election in 1978 - and attempting to sing “Waiting at the Church” and it was his downfall… What a prat.
