Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

Dora- the murder scenario is a hard one for me to speculate as I don’t think there has been a definite confirmation of the last time Madeleine was seen on 3rd May. Without having that info it’s hard to go into whether they had time/opportunity to commit the murder and dispose of Madeleine.

148.
I agree. It is actually refreshing that you do not have an opinion on the murder scenerio because there are enough people here without substantial evidence who do believe the McCanns killed their daughter . But of course if you do have an opinion on this by all means share it.
Gotta run for now, wasted enough time already.

Noseycow- very strange that we both came up with the distressed scenario. I am really slow at typing and only read yours after I had posted mine.

My strings are a load of tosh.
Sun’s out so I’m offski outside to put on a new set of Elixirs.
I think I’ll leave my wallet, passport, MacBook and other guitars next to the unlocked front door while I walk 100 metres to have a look at the drainage in the lower field and change me strings in the valley where I can’t see the house…
As I wrote earlier - looks like a slow news day today, sadly. I’ll look in later maybe…

And when discussing the Fund, a more appropriate word would be Ludidosh. You may all need to start keeping notes…..

Dora- I have never given my opinion on the murder scenario. I have only ever had an opinion on this forum about the few facts that we all have. They left their children alone to socialise and Madeleine is now missing. My opinion about it being wrong to leave the children may differ to other peoples opinions on this site but that is my opinion. Even if Madeleine had not gone missing I would still feel it wrong to leave children in those circumstances to have a social life . I would not do it myself for various reasons ie child wakes up, strange place, distressed, needs comfort, where’s my mammy and daddy. To leave a child to comfort their own distress is bad enough never mind the numerous other things that could happen.

I like this fine system.
Where do I pay in?
Do you think tabloid sales have gone down a lot?
Ummm, what can we do to get them up again.
Maybe Clarence and Gordon are hunting together this weekend.

Anyone remember Peter Tosh? Played guitar (not toshily in any way) with the Wailers (Bob Marley an’ all dat jibe) - he was killed in what was supposed to be a robbery at his home - spooky similarities…
October 7th, 2007 at 12:27 pm
142,
again I do agree it was wrong to leave the children.

Rosemary. I am being retained by Team Rake-in-the-Mulah-while-we McCann to monitor unauthorised useage. The pay is great. Topping what Justine got!

sounds like AMARAL, was his picture next to the word.
October 7th, 2007 at 12:25 pm
137 what a load of TOSH!!!
It’s luditosh to say that it’s OK to leave three under 4’s in an unloacked appartment alone, not because of the possibility of Alian Abduction, peadophiles, or even accidents, but because one or more may wake up and BE DISTRESSED when they can’t find a parent.
It does not matter how well they sleep - children have bad dreams, cough or wake wanting the toilet…and at that age they need their parents reassuring presence. END OF.

Urban Dictionary listing for tosh.
a smelly short man that is not particularily articulate, with a chinese school girl style haircut.
eg stop being a tosh, you silly goose!
October 7th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
131,
Matty you don’t have to like their answer or accept it, most people don’t. But the issue at the moment is their argido status. In my opinion given the timeline I do not think that they killed Maddy, found an obscure hiding spot for the body that sniffer dogs would not detect the next day, organise an eleborate cover-up to guarantee low risk of getting caught and to easily convince members of their party to help them in this cover-up. The McCanns are not the Kray Twins and even they would not be able to achieve so much in such a short space of time.

112 Ade said:
“So here’s the real question. Would you advise a parent that it’s perfectly OK to leave three under fours in an unlocked apartment in a foreign country - TONIGHT?”
As for the “foreign country”: Portugal is neither Afghanistan nor the US, it’s a EU country. I have never been in Praia de Luz, but from what I have seen I could well imagine that I would feel there just as save as in say Aviemore.
To answer your question: The answer may very well be “yes” - depending on the circumstances. My possible concerns would be about whether the children are “reliable sleepers”, but I would generally count out the possibility of a child snatcher entering the apartment as “too far-fetched”.
It is just as I have no weapons and I leave my house at any time of the day unarmend - notwithstanding that I know that robbers exist and that a gun might help me to defend in case of an attack.

113 Batman - sorry was on phone.
Yes we named kitten - Ludo would have been good but as he was 9 weeks old with no name, and he is a ‘Tom’ we decided on Riddle…after ‘you know who’ or ‘he who should not be named’!!
October 7th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
Unauthorised use of word ‘ludicrous’. Susannah, Rosemary and Ade - all cough up royalties please. £1k each. Suggest Carmen’s luditosh as a way out of incurring future fines.

I’ll get me coat
October 7th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
131,
Even if they were advised to keep their mouths shut there still would have been a reporter waiting to ask THE BIG QUESTION, so they would have been advised to say something about it.
October 7th, 2007 at 12:15 pm
Sorry forgot to add on end of my last post.
Luditosh!
October 7th, 2007 at 12:12 pm
Dora , I think the public out cry came from
1. What they did
2. What they said about what they did
3. What they are doing to try and rectify what happenened because of what they did
If they are being advised then I think they are being misadvised (advice that is costing them a lot of money to come by). I think they should have been advised to keep their mouths shut on the subject of leaving their children alone. I think they should have been advised that no excuse they come up with is sufficient to justify their actions

I wonder if Mrs Comical Clarrie knew about that little soiree?

Interesting comments regarding the other members of the group (menage a neuf) that night on the Sunday Express blog spot……..
“This story was around a couple of weeks ago on a Daily Mirror forum…..
…..It was being said that Clarence Mitchell was with the Tapas 9, with his secretary/PA on some kind of freebie. He paid the bill. He left as soon as Madeleine disappeared (more or less) because of his government position, he could technically have been labelled a witness” ???
He apparently then returned, to investigate the situation on behalf of the government.
October 7th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
I had this idea that Clarrie was on Emmerdale but no it was the Archers all the time…
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/backstage/eddie_clarrie.shtml
sidekick of Eddie Grundy, the famous C & W minstrel. Hang on - we have an Eddie of our own… Lord Eddie of Sniff who lives in the Manor House on the hill above Woodbine Cott with the lovely Keela.
So are the real scriptwriters from The Archers team? - Eddie and Clarrie that’s just too much of a coincidence. We should be told…
October 7th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
I wonder how Danie Krugel’s rates compare to Justine McGuinness’s.

122, Ade,
Not just tosh, but ludicrous tosh!
