Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

When I did maths A-level in 1969 very few people could manage 3 a-levels and to do 4 was very rare indeed. Only 3% went to university, where competition was very keen. In my year the medic-hopefuls had extra maths lessons to get them through physics and chemistry… I went to Bristol Grammar School - at the time one of the best in the country for mathematics.
Of course nowadays, with A-level standards as high as they have ever been, many people can get A’s in 5 or more subjects…

Yes I know Ade, *everything* was harder in 1969 including the drugs.

Nice to see an example of a calm, unexciteable medic without gerrykin’s obvious bad temper and short fuse.
I hope I don’t get ill in Derbyshire…

Batman
OK.
McCanns nowhere near in the league to have the sort of money for a ransom to be asked for.
There must be DNA evidence of scores of unknown people in that room.
There were two sightings that evening of a man with a child. (BTW, I don’t necessarily think the poor child is alive.)
Who on earth would grass for ANY amount of money in this particular case?
As Manon might say,

239,
well maybe you should join the investigation since it is so necessary for the McCanns to have your approval.

First question - still remains unanswered.
Second question - your answer gives a possible scenario as to why Madeleine is missing, it does not constitute EVIDENCE OF ABDUCTION.
I am trying to see why abduction would be a feasible option. Are you not mildly interested in considering other options yourself? After all, I doubt you know any more about this case than any one else here. Unless……
******************************************************************
Unless I am the murderer…
First question I answered.
Second question -
The evidence of abduction is that she vanished & is still missing.
Abduction fits the evidence & is a more likely explanation than infanticide/accident + cover-up, which does not fit the evidence (so far).
If she’d wandered off she would have been found, she hasn’t been found & they have searched thoroughly, so she must have been taken. There’s the evidence from the friend of the McCanns who saw a girl with man etc.
There is absolutely no concrete evidence of infanticide as of yet - so I’m not sure why your mind leaps to that as a more likely scenario than the more likely (but less sexy) rational, depressing scenario that she was nabbed & will probably never be found.

What evidence of abduction do you require?
More than there is.

What evidence of abduction do you require Batman? A forced entrance? Perhaps the person just walked in like the man in Britian who took the child out of its bath after all the door was apparently unlocked or maybe the abductor came equipped with a key. The little old lady who lived above said a thief to her apartment had a key. Are you really open to all the feasible possibilities or are you only interested in arguing that the McCanns killed their daughter and covered it up.

I thought he had seen Madeleine in bed? I thought he saw the door ajar and thought “That’s odd, thought we’d closed it.” (We’ve all had such experiences.) Then he thought maybe she had gone out for some reason, maybe to the toilet, into their room or whatever and had left the door ajar when she went back to bed.
I very much doubt if he’d have happily left the apartment if she wasn’t in her bed and the door was open!! He’d have looked for her.
And before you ask how I can know that, well, does anyone think that, if he HAD seen that she was missing and that the door was open but had then just decided to ignore it all because the dinner was so good that night and anyway he was on the verge of winning the quiz, do you think he would have been MAD enough to admit this later on?! I think not. He’d have kept very, very quiet.

bountyhunter,
are you being sarcastic about him finding your cattle or not.
If not, then I am interested in hearing more.
Is he in Portugal at the moment and do you know anything else about his quantum box.

Maria. Ransom Note? DNA evidence? Sightings? Someone grassing to claim the reward?
Think I will stick to my theory, not much to persuade me otherwise at this stage, but thanks for trying.
Back to the rugby…..but S.A. very much in control at the moment.

I think the body is in Huelva and that’s why Amaral was taken off the case .
BTW: anyone heard of that angry maid lately?
Surprisingly(not) that e-mail send to Prince Charles could not be traced.
******************************************************************
No, in fact it was traced to the Iberian peninsula to a real person, and the ‘maid’ does appear to exist & worked at Ocean club.

The theory of Madeleine wandering off. The last person to check on Madeleine was Gerry I think. It has been said that when he checked she wasn’t in her bed but he thought she may have gone into their bed to sleep away from the twins who could have woken her.Without confirmation of the time Madeleine was last seen safe and well (maybe shouldn’t use the word safe as they were left alone)in the apartment how can the wandering off theory be discounted. How much time could she have been missing and how far could a 3yr old wander in that time? What hazards ie watersedge were within this walking distance?

Code breakers - have a look at
http://www.simonsingh.net/
I bought The Code Book several years ago - really well written and of special interest to me as I have always been strongly linked to and drawn to mathematics. Mt experience of medics i that they are hopeless at mathematics - which is why they opt for biology A-level and a medic career instead of maths. This becomes particularly obvious when they try to do statistical analysis of drug trials… And then end up employing statisticians.
How many stereotype statements can you count in that lot?
******************************************************************
Erm - everyone I know who is a doctor did maths A level as well as the sciences. (Many did double maths actually). You don’t think that medics become doctors because they find medicine more interesting than maths?

“Why have the police been forced to deny the value of a lot of the evidence they themselves have provided to the Portuguese police? Why have all the UK papers bar none gone with the McCann spin and changed stories while mis-reporting that which came directly out of Portugal? ”
Where is YOUR proof that the British police have been forced to deny the value of the evidence. And if you have this proof call up your local journalist and tell him about it so that it is exposed.
All the reports from Portugal have also been reported here, why are we so aware then of all of the leaks.

Evidence of abduction?
What evidence would you expect?
At least, as a theory, it does not demand the suspension of belief which any one of the very many and very varied lurid killing theories does.
Evidence for the McCanns’ guilty involvement may emerge at any time. I just don’t think it has yet.

Sedation
Few parents of any profession would sedate their children. A fully qualified anaesthetist would be even less likely to consider such a dangerous procedure.
Evidence for this? Twins asleep after 10.00pm when Madeleine was found to have disappeared?
Well, I might suggest to the PJ that they could have samples of the twins’ hair to analyse. They may not have thought of that one. (But, of course, I suppose they’ll have STOPPED sedating by now? Still, might there not still be some evidence in the hair?)
By the way, the house could have fallen down around them and my kids would not have woken at that very young age.
October 7th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
Why did they insist from within 30 seconds (source - their own interviews) that it was abduction and that M could not possibly have wandered off?
What credible evidence is there of abduction?
******************************************************************
I’ll give you my answers.
Mrs McCann said that she knew from the way that the room had been left that Madeleine had been taken. I have read that cuddle cat was on a shelf out of the reach of Madeleine. Parents know their children & their habits very well. When she was discovered missing friends/ resort workers/police then searched the entire resort - nothing found - if she’d wandered out she would have been found very quickly. It’s a very small, quiet place.
The evidence of abduction is that she was there one minute & then she’d vanished. A bit like the case of the young girl who was snatched from the bath in NE England when her mother was in the room next door.
