Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

Mark and Stevo. Thx and well said. Thought I was in a parallel universe for a while back then. Where the case had been solved and certain supposition had become fact.
******************************************************************
Ah right because it’s not a mahoosive supposition based on no evidence, thin air, nothing, that the McCanns killed their kid.
Who was mentioning Mr McCann sending coded messages via his blog?
Oh dear.

Can’t even prove Madeleine was in the apartment that night.

Yep, you’re right about the apostrophe. Go call up the Grammar Police.
I’m pro Madeleine and pro truth. That means the abduction theory has no more weight than unlawful killing. There is DNA and cadaver dog evidence suggesting otherwise.

It’s McCanns without the apostrophe.
Why are people on here so simplistic? Why is it either for or against the McCanns like some teenage game of football? It’s totally anti-intellectual.
(Oh alright I really mean thick).
I am neither pro nor con the McCanns.
I am however pro- reason, facts & evidence.

This video in the first few days after May 3 shows complete lack of emotions from Kate. There is not the slightest tremor in her voice or any facial signs of emotion. Certainly not emotions you’d expect after someone allegedly stole your first born child.

Maria. Ransom Note? DNA evidence? Sightings? Someone grassing to claim the reward?
Think I will stick to my theory, not much to persuade me otherwise at this stage, but thanks for trying.
******************************************************************
You’ve been watching too much TV.
As Maria said - the McCanns aren’t in the league of ransom stylee kidnappers - they’re hardly billionaires.
It’s possible that she could have been taken by a woman who wanted a child - but usually in those cases they find the women - as they tend to be a bit doolally when they’re carrying out the kidnapping (ie acting under the influence of hormones & emotions) and therefore don’t plan/cover their tracks well.
If she was nabbed by a passing paed there would be no ransome note.
Given Portugal’s lamentable sex offender regulation it would seem the most likely scenario. A paed would work on his own so no grassing, or if he was working with in a ring the others would be implicated if they grassed.
As to the dna - we don’t *know* there isn’t any. The police didn’t seal off the crime scene early enough or effectively enough. Mark Thomas Williams the child protection expert who worked on the Sarah Payne case called it “the worst preserved scence of crime” he had seen in his career.
There were many through the appartment that night, the flat was re-let, sold & cleaned before the second lot of forensics were taken.
Morever, there was no finger-tip search of the area, no house to house enquiries to find witnesses before they left on holiday, and not adequate searches of many flats & houses in P d L which have never been opened.
There are according to Thomas Wiliams, *still* major witnesses who haven’t been re-interviewed.
So - I think the reason why there is no evidence is the banal truth of a sleepy, parochial, inexperienced police force caught off guard.

Good post… This UK forensic lab stuff is interesting in the potential banana skin it presents to Comical Clarrie. So far he has tried to rubbish anything that goes against their storylines. This has come out as a growing UK police=wonderful/PJ=crap approach. As I have written before this may go pear-shaped if the new PJ chief agrees with the discredited one about their involvement. But also, in the forensics, ComicalC has praised the UK people as wonderful. So what happens if they come up with evidence not favourable to their holy fragrances? If he rubbishes everybody - including the UK “experts” then surely the punter in the street is gonna think twice about what ComicalC says. Then again they seem to swallow his every word…

There’s actually no more or less evidence of abduction than there is of a murder/kidnap/accidental reason for Madeleine’s disappearance.
The ONLY evidence Madeleine was abducted is from her parents who SAY she was abducted.
October 7th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
Manon Says:
What credible evidence is there of abduction?
I’ll give you my answers.
Mrs McCann said that she knew from the way that the room had been left that Madeleine had been taken. I have read that cuddle cat was on a shelf out of the reach of Madeleine. Parents know their children & their habits very well. When she was discovered missing friends/ resort workers/police then searched the entire resort - nothing found - if she’d wandered out she would have been found very quickly. It’s a very small, quiet place.
The evidence of abduction is that she was there one minute & then she’d vanished. A bit like the case of the young girl who was snatched from the bath in NE England when her mother was in the room next door.
Next!
……………………………………………………………
This sort of reminds me of a Blackadder episode when the (Brilliant) Stephen Fry learns that the enemy have a new weapon… “apparently Sir, they lie to us!”
The only truth here is that ..’Maddie is missing’ ..
Everything else is theory… even abduction

The forgotten laboratory
With British Media shifting its attention to the “hate campaign” that Portuguese Press is throwing against the McCann couple, the Forensic Science Service is working quietly in the tests of a few dozen samples, collected at Ocean Club 5A apartment, several other locations in Praia da Luz and 12 cars and vans. The samples were collected with the help of a British Police special team, in the last weeks of July. The final report, which is ready for some time, will be sent to Portugal in a few days. Polícia Judiciária asked the McCann couple to stay until the results arrived, in order to help in further inquires that will take place, as soon as all the results are with Portuguese CID. Results for the analysis of two of the most important samples, from a Media point of view, have been available since a few weeks.
The blood found at one of the apartment walls was not from Madeleine, but from a male, as Times (*) reported, on August 16. Analysis of traces of human fluids found at two cars searched by Police is also finished, since several weeks. Meanwhile, Daily Mail published a story, on August 31, about the results of the analysis going to Leicestershire police. The story only can be classified as a “joke”, because the analysis were requested directly to the Forensic Science Service by the Public Prosecutor’s Magistrate that is in charge of the investigation and, as the criminologist Moita Flores said, “that Magistrate is the only person with the legal capacity and authority to receive those results. They never could be sent to British Police.”
While waiting for the official report about the tests, Portuguese CID, with the help of the British Police, has been searching for contacts and information about personal, professional and business connections of other family members of McCann clan. This search is intended to help to clarify the many contradictory statements that witnesses in this case have made. Several family members of the McCann couple referred to journalists that Gerry and Kate told them “they feared they were being watched in the hours leading up to the kidnapping”, as The Scotsman wrote. But they both denied saying that, when talking with Police.
