Madeleine McCann: Danie Krugel Is The Locator, Gerry McCanns The Roof And Paedo Alert
MADDYWATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann.
NEWS OF THE WORLD front page: “Maddie was alive on beach”
“A renowned international manhunt expert, dubbed The Locator, sensationally revealed he has uncovered a telltale DNA trail left by snatched toddler Maddie McCann”
THE LOCATOR – in the papers and all over Praia da Luz from Sunday (see press for details). Anyone else see a made-for-TV series or a fly-on-the-wall documentary?
Ex-cop Danie Krugel has tracked the “forensic route” he believed her kidnapper took from her Madeleine’s Portuguese holiday apartment. It ends on the beach
Says Krugel: I spent four nights in July carrying out my searches. I’ve been able to trace where Madeleine was in the resort and have drawn a map which has been given to the police.
“I can’t reveal details as I don’t want to alert anyone who might try to disturb the scene. But I believe I’ve traced where she was taken that night and now it’s down to police to use their search experts to do the rest. The area to which my investigation led me is a difficult one to search”
Disturb the scene? The beach at a popular tourist destination made famous by the disappearance of a little girl? Yes, best not disturb that. And tell the wind and the tide to stop, too
A source “close” to the McCanns says: “The work of Mr Krugel should not be underestimated and gives great hope to Gerry and Kate. Many people have contacted the couple to try to help but while their hearts may be in the right place they just don’t have the expertise to be of assistance. But Mr Krugel has a proven record of finding people and his methods are extremely credible”
Like this credible helper. And this one. And this one. And this one…
SUNDAY MIRROR front page: “MADELEINE SENSATION – BOYFINDER CALLED IN”
• McCanns hire leading DNA expert
• He pinpoints area on local beach
• New cops urged to start digging
And fishing…
“Desperate Kate and Gerry McCann” sent a strand of Madeleine’s hair to South African police colonel Danie Krugel. The Locator has located the spot where Madeleine’s body is buried
SUNDAY PEOPLE: “WOMAN WHO COST MADDIE FUND £51K”
“Anguished Gerry McCann sensationally split from the expert masterminding the worldwide hunt for his missing daughter Madeleine after she put in a whopping £20,000 overtime and expenses bill”
PR Justine McGuinness charged Gerry and wife Kate £51,000 for 89 days’ work. “Her basic fee was £350 a day, making a total of £31,000. And the rest was made up in overtime payments and expenses - including bar and restaurant bills”
A source says Gerry saw the bill and “hit the roof”. He was “livid”
So she went. And was replaced by Clarence Mitchell
“Gerry was the only one who wanted Clarence,” readers learn. “He was determined to get him after building a strong relationship with him in Portugal. But nobody else wanted him because he had given Kate and Gerry - what some of the family thought of as - questionable advice”
Can the McCanns’ PRs get a PR before their names and sullied?
SUNDAY EXPRESS front page: “New police chief turns screw on McCanns”
MAIL ON SUNDAY: “MPs demand record of child-tracking devices over paedophile fears”
Oh?
“New laws to regulate the use of high-tech child-tracking devices are being called for by MPs amid fears they could be used by paedophiles and stalkers. The technology is aimed at parents wanting to keep tabs on their children after a series of high-profile child murders and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann”
Maybe all adults should be chipped instead? Or children paedo-proofed - why let it ruin your holiday?
THE TIMES: “Detective who suspected Kate and Gerry McCann may lead hunt”
Luis Neves, 41, is seen as a forerunner to replace Goncarlo Amaral as lead detective. He was seen by the McCanns as a “breath of fresh air” when he joined the inquiry team.
“But he later became convinced she had died in an accident in the McCanns’ apartment”
Or will it be Carlos do Carmo? He has no previous connection with the case, and was Amaral’s predecessor as director of the police in Portimao. The Times says he earned the respect of colleagues after bringing the killer of a police officer to justice
Who will it be: Carmo or Neves? Press your keypads now!
Or C: The British Supercop?
SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: “Police have open minds, insists Kate McCann”
“Kate and Gerry McCann are ‘furious’ at Portuguese police claims that British detectives believe their missing daughter Madeleine is dead”
Says Kate McCann to friends: “The police have told us they have an open mind. Of course we accept it’s possible Madeleine may no longer be alive but we don’t know and nor do the police, so we have to do everything we can to find her”
Clarence Mitchell refuses to comment on “the latest unfounded, unsubstantiated rumours”
A source says: “”Quite how any child would die falling off a sofa is beyond me”
She fell off the sofa? Really…
THE OBSERVER: “Forensic DNA tests ‘reveal traces of Madeleine’s body on resort beach’”
“Retired” South African police superintendent Daniel Krugel is on the beach
Are you?

Manon- definition of celebrity. We cannot differentiate as they are both.
A celebrity is a widely-recognized or famous person who commands a high degree of public and media attention. The word stems from the Latin verb “celebrere” but they may not become a celebrity unless public and mass media interest is piqued. For example Virgin Director Richard Branson was famous as a CEO, but he did not become a global celebrity until he attempted to circumnavigate the globe in a hot air balloon. On the other hand, mass entertainment personalities such as soap opera actors or music stars are likely to become celebrities even if the person deliberately avoids media attention.

Manon
If your child was abducted would you set up a web site with a counter showing your bulging and growing bank acount?
Think about that before answering.
******************************************************************
How many times must it be explained that the money *is not theirs* they are not *spending it on themsleves*?
Posters get so dazzled by the money & have such difficulty differentiating between celebrity & *couple in the press because their child is missing* that their brains apparently whirl into nonsense.
Yes I would set up a website & if the public were donating money I would set up a record of the amount. It’s like Blue Peter or Children in Need. If you don’t have a public record of it - people will complain about the fund being unaccountable.
I didn’t have to think very hard about my answer Carmen. I hope this helps.

this little snippit should ensure that every one retains their faith in the fss,and that there is not the slightest chance that Madeleine’s dna alleged or otherwise could have been spoiled in any way by such a well run organisation, with such upstanding employees and fandabbydozy security……………..
The FSS - which is suing the five men in the High Court - helps police investigate evidence from crimes and sells its services to commercial customers.
It also maintains the controversial database containing DNA samples of almost four million people, the largest in the world.
The men, all from the Birmingham area, are named on the writ as Azim Akhtar, his brother Zaheer Akhtar, Sultan Mahmood, Nisar Ahmed, and Athar Agha.
It is alleged they set up a company and planned to compete against the FSS by providing similar services.
The case will inevitably raise concerns about the vulnerability of genetic data, especially since the FSS was turned into a Government-owned company in 2005 as the first stage of privatisation.
At the time Tony Blair faced a barrage of protest, with one Labour MP denouncing the scheme as ‘a criminal’s charter’.
Civil rights groups have also been critical, arguing there are no real safeguards to prevent misuse of the DNA database.
Shami Chakrabarti, director of Liberty, said the case involving the five men raised serious concerns.
“This is hugely significant and should make every law-abiding person seriously worried. People are looking after these databases who have less and less of a public-service ethic,’ she said.
According to the High Court writ, the FSS began developing a website in 2005 called Iforensic.com targeting international law enforcement and private markets.
It says although the plans were secret, they were known to the five defendants who had access to the DNA database. The writ alleges the men set up their own company, Iforensic Ltd - having appropriated the name from the FSS.
“In order to facilitate the creation of a DNA database to be operated by Iforensic Limited…the defendants copied, retained and/or adapted software and/or other confidential information’ belonging to the FSS, says the writ.
The document adds it would not have been possible for the five men to create the software necessary to produce a DNA database without having had access to ‘and copying and/or retaining copies of the software and/or the database.’
IT specialist Azim Akhtar, 30, is alleged to have registered three internet domain names using the word Iforensic - and later, through a friend, tried to sell one of the names back to the FSS for ‘an attractive price’.
He and the four others worked in the FSS’s Birmingham headquarters in the information systems division, which is responsible for developing and maintaining the DNA database.
The FSS is seeking damages for infringement of copyright, breach of trust, breach of confidence and misuse of confidential information.
It is also seeking injunctions to make the five change their company’s name, return confidential information and transfer internet domain names to the service.
According to the writ, the five set up Iforensic Ltd on September 29, 2006, to unlawfully exploit ‘goodwill in the name’ by extracting money from the FSS for the sale of the company name at an inflated price.
They chose the name with a dishonest motive, to use it as an ‘instrument of fraud’, it is alleged.
It adds they set up Iforensic Ltd to compete with the FSS to provide forensic goods services and products, including national DNA database services.
Mr Akhtar, from Yardley, Birmingham, said: “We have never been accused of taking personal information about individuals from the DNA database.
“What we are accused of is taking the database itself, not the information.”
He added it was never the intention to set up a firm to rival the FSS or the DNA database.
Mr Akhtar went on: “The FSS said if we have registered the domain names using the iforensic word then we must be going to do the same business as them and thus must have taken the database system.”
He added the FSS was making IT redundancies and ‘we plan to set up a company to offer the services the FSS will be looking to outsource.”
The FSS said it could not comment because of the investigation. The Home Office insisted there was no question information held on the database had been ‘compromised’.

Judge Dread- there was an increase in the fund recently, about £10k. Don’t think this equates to the interest on £1000,000 plus. I have always wondered about the interest. I did a quick calculator with a high street bank and it was a heffty sum at todays interest rate but somebody on a previous blog on Anorak told me that due to the status of the Find Madeleine fund it wouldn’t be as easy as depositing it in a bank and gaining daily interest. Not sure if this is true. They have advisors for everything else as has been stated ie how to act in interviews, do they also have a financial advisor on the payroll. Maybe the fund doesn’t increase as the interest and the £57k etc are a contingancy for expenses like financial advisors etc

Does anyone remember about 20 years ago in the uk
There was a newborn baby abducted from her car seat while her parent got money from a cash ppoint machine. They were the new thing then.
Later the police accused them. The baby had downs syndrome.
Can anyone remember it?
Did they find the body?
I remember being on holiday in Dorset and the police had sniffer dogs and searching the day we left.
I think the parents were staying there or owned a caravan there.
Any memories?

The total isn’t even up to date. Firestar said GM picked up a cheque for £57k last week, where has that gone because its not in the toal, not is the interest which would have been added after the first quarter.

holy trademarks
yup it’s true, according to:
http://trannyfattyacid.blogspot.com/2007/10/internet-spies-target-heretics.html
“But there is another, possibly more sinsister, reason. Madeleine McCann is a trademarked name. And the MSM has been running a dual hate campaign in support of the McCanns. Not only have they been targetting the PJ but armchair detectives have been in their sights. And it is entirely possible that Envisonal have been commisioned to target sites critical of the McCanns and have them remove content on the grounds that it damages the Madeleine McCann brand.”
Nice people these McConns

This link states that “Madeleine McCann” is a registered product name and is protected by copyright…
Now I’m not normal by any means but to do that is clearly not normal behaviour.
And a load of tosh to boot…
++++++++++++++
Oddly, this one thing (the copywriting of the name) I don’t think is odd at all. It effectively stops others from profiting from the name. I thought I’d read elsewhere that Madeleine’s image, the graphic highlighting her odd eye, and possibly other things had also been copyrighted? Like it or not, Madeleine is pretty much a global brand these days – Certainly in Europe and North Africa at least.
I’d be more interested in what the owners of the copyright might ever do with it…

re. 73, To Tony Bennett: GERRY MCCANN’S ANGER
I’m not pro or anti McCann but to me it seems an enormous leap to make the connection between all these incidents of Gerry McCann’s behaviour to him actually having the temperament to harm his own child, but you seem to be making it. The video clip, for example, shows a couple, with three small children under five, who have probably spent the previous few days winding up work concerns and packing, sorting passports and money etc. in preparation for a holiday, just as we all do. They may well have been up since the crack of dawn, then on arrival at the airport spent a couple of frustrating hours queuing to check in, and sitting in the departure lounge while trying to keep their children happy and amused. It’s not easy, we’ve done it, and I admit to feeling grumpy sometimes, with a blinding headache. I detest being caught on video when I feel like that although it makes everyone else laugh! What’s more you see lots of other families around the departure lounge who look exasperated too. My husband is a mild man and a great, fun dad but he rarely smiles on posed photographs. He just hates having his photo taken unless it is spontaneous. All the other incidents you cite of Gerry McCann’s behaviour may well be justified under the circumstances. In my opinion, Tony, you need to think whether your own temperament would bear such scrutiny.
October 7th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Trademarks. The McCanns must have KNOWN they were going to be in for the long haul. Otherwise would seem a little impractical.
Why would you want to trademark your child anyway?
October 7th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
Trademarking Madeleine’s name is sick, but I suppose that had to have a product for their company. Now all they need are customers.
I wanna buy ……..

And I wonder what the full war chest comes to… The FindMaddie fund is only one bit of it. Beardie Branson and others have also donated - £100k from beardie and who knows how much from the others?
October 7th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
Ade. The logo - highlighting Madeleine’s split pupil - has been registered as a trademark. Firestar gave the details the other day. Unbelievable stuff. Very scary actually the more you think about it.
Didn’t realise the poor child’s name was also a product name. Talk about detached. Please don’t let that bit be true about her name. Please.
